In the 20th Century. P. Tretiakov, B. Tymoshchuk, I. Froianov, V. Mavrodin, and others reasonably considered the nests of settlements as the remnants of the structure of tribal unions named in the ancient Russian chronicles. Archaeological research of settlements of the 7th–3rd centuries BC on the territory of Ukraine over the past hundred years have created opportunities for further social studies of the Slavs. As a topographical basis for searching for the nests of settlements of Slavic clans and tribes, we can, according to B. Rybakov, “take that stable territory, which already three times, on three chronological sections, showed the sameness of its main contours, the one that has already been repeatedly called the homeland of the Proto-Slavic tribes”. The study of the social structure of the tribes of Scythian farmers, who spread from the Right Bank to the territory of the Left-Bank Ukraine, we can begin by plotting their settlements on modern maps at a scale of 1: 250,000 in the basins of the Vorskla, Sula, Psel, Seim, and Seversky Donets rivers. The subsequent mapping of the settlements of the Scythian farmers in the area of the Right-Bank Ukraine and of the Nevri in the Upper Dnieper region will create the prospect of geographical, social, and linguistic research and identify the characteristic features of the ethnogenesis of the Slavic-Ukrainians from chronicle tribes to the era of iron, bronze, and copper., У ХХ ст. П. Третяков, Б. Тимощук, І. Фроянов, В. Мавродін та ін. обґрунтовано розглядали гнізда поселень як залишки структури союзів племен, названих у давньоруських літописах. Археологічні дослідження поселень та городищ VII–ІІІ ст. до н. е. на території України за останні сто років створили можливості для подальших соціальних досліджень слов’ян. За топографічну основу пошуку гнізд поселень слов’янських родів і племен можна, за словами Б. Рибакова, «взяти ту стійку територію, яка уже тричі, на трьох хронологічних зрізах, виявляла однаковість своїх основних контурів, ту, яку вже неодноразово називали батьківщиною праслов’янських племен». Дослідження соціальної структури племен скіфів-землеробів, які із Правобережжя поширилися на території Лівобережної України, ми можемо розпочати з нанесення поселень землеробів у басейнах річок Ворскли, Сули, Псла, Сейму та Сіверського Дінця на сучасні карти масштабу 1:250 000. Подальше картографування поселень скіфів-орачів в ареалі Правобережної України та неврів у Верхньому Подніпров’ї створюватиме перспективу географічних, соціальних і лінгвістичних досліджень та виявлення характерних рис етногенезу слов’ян-українців від літописних племен до доби заліза, бронзи та міді.

W centrum współczesnego Charkowa znajduje się jeden z cenniejszych zabytków architektury sakralnej Ukrainy Lewobrzeżnej – kościół katedralny pw. Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Maryi Panny, wybudowany w stylu neogotyckim w końcu XIX wieku. W artykule zaprezentowano dotychczasowy stan badań nad tym zabytkiem i przedstawiono nowe fakty związane z jego powstaniem. Przedstawiono też unikatowe źródła rękopiśmienne dotyczące początkowego etapu budowy kościoła, pochodzące z zasobu Archiwum Państwowego Obwodu Charkowskiego. Obrazują one proces legislacyjny związany z uzyskaniem pozwolenia na budowę kościoła rzymskokatolickiego, w tym uzyskanie zgody od arcybiskupa mohylewskiego Aleksandra Kazimierza Gintowt-Dziewałtowskiego. Zamieszczono również list wspólnoty katolickiej do architekta Bolesława Michałowskiego z prośbą o wykonanie projektu nowego kościoła oraz objęcie nadzorem jego budowy. Warto podkreślić, że kościół powstał ze składek wiernych, a architekt zrzekł się honorarium za swoją pracę, wnosząc tym samym wkład w budowę świątyni. Kościół stanął w miejscu wcześniejszego, skromnego budynku parafialnego przy ul. Małej Sumskiej, który w latach 80. XIX wieku był w złym stanie technicznym, a dodatkowo był za mały dla rozrastającej się wspólnoty katolickiej. Na czele komitetu budowy świątyni stanął ks. Piotr Kisarzewski, a istotną rolę w powstaniu kościoła odegrał adwokat Aleksander Kwiatkowski, lider charkowskich Polaków. Opublikowane w artykule źródła archiwalne mogą stać się przyczynkiem do dalszych badań, prowadzonych w ramach różnych dyscyplin naukowych. In the centre of modern Kharkiv stands one of the most valuable monuments of ecclesiastical architecture in Left-bank Ukraine – the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in neo-Gothic style in the late 19th century. The article presents the current state of research on this monument and presents new facts related to its creation. Unique manuscript sources on the initial stage of the church’s construction from the resources of the State Archives of Kharkiv Oblast are also presented. They illustrate the legislative process involved in obtaining a permit for the construction of the Roman Catholic Church, including obtaining permission from the Archbishop of Mohilev Aleksander Kazimierz Gintowt-Dziewałtowski. The paper also includes a letter from the Catholic community to the architect, Bolesław Michałowski, asking him to design a new church and to supervise its construction. It is worth noting that the church was built with contributions from the faithful, and the architect waived a fee for his work, thus contributing on his part to the construction of the temple. The church was erected on the site of an earlier, modest parish building on Mała Sumska Street, which was in poor repair in the 1880s, in addition to being too small for the growing Catholic community. The temple building committee was headed by Rev. Piotr Kisarzewski, and attorney Aleksander Kwiatkowski, a leader of the Kharkiv Poles, also played an important role in the establishment of the church. The archival sources published in the article can become a contribution to further research, conducted in various scientific disciplines.

Авторы рассматривают эволюцию представлений интеллектуальной элиты Левобережной Украины об особенностях статуса, социально-политического строя этой специфической области Российской империи, о роли разных социальных групп, прежде всего казачества и шляхты, в её истории и трансформациях рубежа ХVІІІ–ХІХ вв. Персоналии, оказавшиеся в центре исследования (Григорий и Василий Полетики, Адриан Чепа, Семен Кочубей, Григорий Галаган), являлись авторитетными выразителями настроений значительной части местной элиты. Хронологическая разбросанность их высказываний позволяет проследить изменения во взглядах на место края в системе империи – от сохранения модернизированной в духе времени автономной Гетманщины до полной её политико-правовой интеграции, на роль гетманов и казацкой системы в жизни малороссийского общества, на возможные механизмы адаптации к новым социокультурным реалиям., The focus is on the evolution of the ideas of the intellectual elite of the Left Bank Ukraine about the peculiarities of the status, the socio-political structure of their homeland, this specific region of the Russian Empire, about the role of various social groups, primarily the Cossacks and the gentry, in its history and transformations at the turn of the the 18th – mid-19th cс. The personalities who found themselves in the center of the study – G. and V. Poletik, A. Chepa, S. Kochubei, G. Galagan and others, reflected not only their own views on the past, present and future of the region, but were also authoritative exponents of the sentiments of a significant part of the local social elite. The chronological scattering of their statements makes it possible to trace changes in views on the place of the region in the system of the empire - from the preservation of the autonomous Hetmanate modernized in the spirit of the times to its full political and legal integration, to the role of hetmans and the Cossack system in the life of Little Russian society, as well as to possible mechanisms of adaptation to new socio-cultural realities., Диалог со временем, Выпуск 75 (75) 2021, Pages 335-345

W artykule dokonano krótkiej retrospektywy historii kościołów rzymskokatolickich na Ukrainie Lewobrzeżnej w XІХ-ХХ wieku, od budowy w czasach Imperium Rosyjskiego do losów w czasach radzieckich, i wspomniano o współczesnej sytuacji z kościołami już w niepodległej Ukrainie. Na początku zostały przeanalizowane czynniki, które spowodowały powstanie licznej Polonii na obszarach Ukrainy Lewobrzeżnej, czyli w guberniach: jekaterynosławskiej, połtawskiej, charkowskiej oraz czernihowskiej. Na tych terenach dzięki staraniom miejscowych Polaków zbudowano 12 kościołów w: Czernihowie, Nieżynie, Połtawie, Romnie, Krzemieńczuku, Jekaterynosławiu, Kamieńskim, Jenakijewie, Mariupolu, Bachmucie, Charkowie i Sumach. W podsumowaniu artykułu zaznaczono, że każdy kościół od momentu swojej konsekracji stał się centrum życia nie tylko społeczności polskiej, ale także miejscem spotkań katolików różnych narodowości. Podczas okupacji Ukrainy przez wojska bolszewickie kościoły zostały zamknięte, a część z nich zburzono. Tylko nieliczne świątynie przetrwały do naszych czasów. Dziś stanowią one ważne pamiątki architektury sakralnej, zdobiące centrum ukraińskich miast. This article provides a short retrospective of the history of Roman Catholic churches in Left-Bank Ukraine in the 19th–20th century, from construction during the Russian Empire to their fate in the Soviet era. It also mentions the contemporary situation of churches in independent Ukraine. Firstly, the factors that caused the establishment of numerous Polish communities in the areas of Left-Bank Ukraine, i.e. in the Yekaterinoslav, Poltava, Kharkiv and Chernihiv Governorates, were analyzed. Thanks to the efforts of local Poles 12 churches were built in this area, namely in: Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Poltava, Romny, Kremenchuk, Yekaterinoslav, Kamianske, Yenakiieve, Mariupol, Bakhmut, Kharkiv and Sumy. In the summary of the article it was pointed out that every church, since its consecration, had become a centre of life not only of the Polish community, but also a meeting place for Catholics of different nationalities. During the occupation of Ukraine by the Bolshevik army, the churches were closed and some of them demolished. Only a few temples have survived to our times. Today, they are important remnants of sacral architecture, decorating the centres of Ukrainian cities.

The life of the Ukrainian nobility within the realities of the middle of the 19th century via the analysis of the communicative strategies is presented in the article. The consideration of the family correspondence has permitted to reconstruct the complicated network of social and cultural connections of the regional elite, whose representatives realized different range of ideological and behavioral objectives. The resourceful base of the article was a complex of letters from Galagan’s family archive - a noble family that had origins in Cossacks’ officers. The choice of the sources was determined by the following reasons. Firstly, the family of Galagan maintained close contacts with the regional nobility and simultaneously, established the new with the imperial authorities according to the marriage strategies during 18th-19th centuries. Secondly, the perfectly preserved archive provides the important material for communicative strategies’ study on the base of correspondence. This fact permits to understand the work of social mechanisms affected on the landowners’ life of Left-bank Ukraine during the middle of the 19th century. The aim of the article is to consider communicative strategies of the Ukrainian elite on the base of the family correspondence from Galagan’s archive during the second half of 1840-s to the middle of 1860-s. The communicative scenarios of the nobility of Left-bank Ukraine in the connections with the local authority and imperial center, landowners and peasants, groups of relatives within the noble community have been studied. The documents consideration provided an opportunity to know the reaction of the Ukrainian nobility to the events of 1840-1860-s: the actions of the imperial government during the reign of the emperors Mykola I and Oleksandr II regarding Ukraine, the Crimean War, the Peasant reform of 1861 and consequences of its implementation on the Ukrainian lands. The research results have developed the presentation of the Ukrainian society in space and time of the 19th century. The article is based on the original author’s conception., В статье исследованы жизнедеятельность украинского дворянства в реалиях середины XIX в. путем анализа его коммуникационных стратегий. Изучение семейной переписки позволило реконструировать сложную сеть социокультурных связей региональной элиты, в которой ее представители реализовывали разнообразный спектр идеологических и поведенческих задач. Исходным материалом для статьи стал комплекс писем из фамильного архива Галаганов - дворянского рода казацко-старшинского происхождения. Выбор источников обусловлен несколькими причинами. Во-первых, благодаря брачным стратегиям в течение XVIII-XIX вв. Галаганы сохраняли тесные контакты среди регионального дворянства и одновременно роднились с имперской знатью. Во-вторых, хорошо сохранившийся архив предоставляет весомый материал для исследования коммуникационных стратегий именно на основании переписки. Это позволяет понять действие социальных механизмов, обусловивших жизнь левобережного дворянства середины XIX в. Целью статьи является рассмотрение коммуникационных стратегий украинской элиты 2-й половины 1840-х - середины 1860-х гг. на основе анализа семейного эпистолярия из фамильного архива Галаганов. Автором исследованы коммуникационные сценарии дворянства Левобережной Украины во взаимоотношениях между местной общиной и имперским центром, между дворянами-землевладельцами и крестьянами, между группами родственников внутри дворянского сообщества. Рассмотрение документов позволило выяснить реакцию украинского дворянства на ряд событий 1840-х - 1860-х годов: действия имперского правительства времен правления императоров Николая I и Александра II относительно Украины, Крымской войны, Крестьянской реформы 1861 года и последствий ее реализации в украинских землях. Результаты исследования углубляют представления о жизни украинского социума в пространстве и времени XIX в. Статья основывается на оригинальной авторской концепции., У статті досліджено життєдіяльність українського дворянства в реаліях середини XIX ст. через аналіз його комунікаційних стратегій. Розгляд сімейного листування дозволив реконструювати складну мережу соціокультурних зв’язків регіональної еліти, в якій її представники реалізовували розмаїтий спектр ідеологічних і поведінкових завдань. Джерельним матеріалом для статті став комплекс листів з фамільного архіву Ґалаґанів - дворянського роду козацько-старшинського походження. Вибір джерел обумовлено кількома причинами. По-перше, завдяки шлюбним стратегіям впродовж XVIII-XIX ст. Ґалаґани зберігали тісні контакти серед регіонального дворянства й водночас споріднювалися з імперською знаттю. По-друге, гарно збережений архів надає вагомий матеріал для дослідження комунікаційних стратегій саме на підставі листування. Це дозволяє зрозуміти дію соціальних механізмів, що обумовлювали життя лівобережного панства середини XIX ст. Метою статті є розгляд комунікаційних стратегій української еліти 2-ї половини 1840-х - середини 1860-х рр. на основі аналізу сімейного епістолярію з фамільного архіву Ґалаґанів. Автором досліджено комунікаційні сценарії дворянства Лівобережної України у взаєминах між місцевою спільнотою та імперським центром, між дворянами-землевласниками й селянами, між групами родичів всередині дворянської спільноти. Розгляд документів дозволив з’ясувати реакцію українського дворянства на низку подій 1840-х - 1860-х років: дії імперського уряду часів правління імператорів Миколи I і Олександра II щодо України, події Кримської війни, перебіг Селянської реформи 1861 р. та наслідки її реалізації в українських землях. Результати розвідки поглиблюватимуть уявлення про життя українського соціуму у просторі та часі XIX ст. Стаття ґрунтується на оригінальній авторській концепції.

The goals and results of the Little Russian police reform were determined by the fact that the imperial Russian centre lacked awareness of the realities of life in Left-bank Ukraine and the Enlightenment-inspired ideas of rationalising administration processes. The article analyses proposals for the reorganisation of the police prepared in connection with the establishment of the Collegium of Little Russia (1764‒1765) and elections to the Legislative Commission (1767‒1768). The article describes the positions of representatives from the imperial centre (Governor-general Rumyantsev’s entourage) and regional elites (the gentry and burghers) on the police issue. Minor reforms were planned in an undated secret instruction to Pyotr Rumyantsev and his report from 18 May 1765. The full-scale programme involved a change in administrative-territorial divisions, the creation of new police structures and principles of interaction with local elites, and police activity that would encompass the entire territory and population of Left-bank Ukraine. The programme appeared in the undated and unauthorised document entitled Some Notes on Little Russia (presumably from November‒December 1764) and in an instruction from the Little Russian Collegium to the Legislative Commission. The author demonstrates that a limited number of proposals for the reorganisation of the police of Left-bank Ukraine were approved, but he also emphasises their possible influence on the Constitution for the Administration of the Provinces of the Russian Empire (1775)., Слабая осведомленность имперского центра о реалиях Левобережной Украины вкупе с просветительской установкой на рационализацию управленческих процессов предопределили задачи и результаты реформирования малороссийской, преимущественно городской полиции. В статье проанализированы предложения по ее реорганизации, подготовленные в связи с созданием Малороссийской коллегии (1764‒1765) и выборами в Комиссию для составления проекта нового Уложения (1767‒1768). Выделены позиции представителей имперского центра (окружения малороссийского генерал-губернатора П. А. Румянцева) и региональных элит (шляхты и жителей городов) по полицейскому вопросу. Минимальные преобразования планировались в недатированной секретной инструкции П. А. Румянцеву и его докладе от 18 мая 1765 г. Максимальная программа реформ предполагала изменение административно-территориального деления, создание новых полицейских структур и принципов взаимодействия с местными элитами, а также охват полицейской деятельностью всей территории и всего населения Левобережной Украины. Она была представлена в недатированных и неавторизированных «Некоторых примечаниях до Малой России» (ориентировочно ноябрь-декабрь 1764 г.) и наказе депутату от Малороссийской коллегии в Комиссию для составления проекта нового Уложения. Отмечено ограниченное утверждение предложений по реорганизации полиции Левобережной Украины, но при этом возможное их влияние на «Учреждение для управления Губерний Всероссийской Империи» (1775).

During the imperial period, an extensive network of museum institutions was formed in the Ukrainian lands of the Russian Empire. They worked at higher educational institutions, scientific institutions, city and local government bodies. The Zemstvo reform of 1864, which caused significant changes in the economic and cultural life, had a great impact on the development of Ukrainian museums, albeit with some delay. In Russian-ruled Ukraine, in particular, in the Poltava and Chernihiv regions, both provincial and district zemstvo bodies had museums under their control.The proposed article deals with the history of the creation and activities of museums that worked with the organs of the local government in the late XIX - early XX centuries on Left Bank Ukraine. The initiative of creating museum institutions, the composition of their collection, etc. is analyzed. The article investigates the sources of financing of museum institutions, occurred at the expense of Zemstvo institutions and patrons of art. It covers the scientific activities of zemstvo institutions, their publications, including reports and periodicals. Also attention is paid to the analysis of attendance rates of museum institutions, identified educational opportunities of these institutions. The connection of museum institutions with local authorities was considered. Their influence on the opening of museums, the adoption of collections in the property, further funding, etc. also studied in the article. It was concluded that the museum business occupied a significant place among other cultural and educational activities of the zemstvos of Left-Bank Ukraine in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. During this period, both provincial and county Zemstvo museums worked in the Ukrainian provinces. The scientists, public figures, patrons of art took an active part in the creation and further work of the zemstvo museum institutions., В имперской период в украинских землях Российской империи сформировалась разветвленная сеть музейных учреждений. Они работали при высших учебных заведениях, научных учреждениях, органах городского и земского самоуправления. Значительное влияние на развитие украинского музейного дела, хоть и с некоторым опозданием, имела земская реформа 1864 г., которая вызвала значительные изменения в экономической и культурной жизни. В Надднепрянщине, в частности на Полтавщине и Черниговщине, как губернские, так и уездные земства имели в своем подчинении музеи.В предлагаемой статье рассматривается история создания и деятельности музеев, работавших при органах земского самоуправления в конце XIX – начале ХХ вв. на Левобережной Украине. Анализируется инициатива создания музейных учреждений, состав их коллекции и т.п. В статье проанализированы источники финансирования музейных учреждений, происходило за счет земских учреждений и меценатских взносов. Освещается научная деятельность земских учреждений, их публикации, в том числе отчеты и периодические издания. Также внимание уделено анализу показателей посещаемости музейных учреждений, определены просветительские возможности этих учреждений. Рассмотрена связь музейных заведений с земскими органами, влияние последних на открытие музеев, принятие коллекций в собственность, дальнейшее финансирование и тому подобное.Сделан вывод, что музейное дело занимало значительное место среди других культурно-просветительских направлений деятельности земств Левобережной Украины в конце ХIХ – начале ХХ вв. В этот период в украинских губерниях работали как губернские, так и уездные земские музее. В создании и дальнейшей работе земских музейных учреждений принимали активное участие отечественные ученые, общественные деятели, меценаты. Земским музеям удалось собрать значительные коллекции преимущественно за счет меценатской деятельности и научным поискам музейных работников., В імперській період в українських землях Російської імперії сформувалася розгалужена мережа музейних закладів. Вони працювали при вищих навчальних закладах, наукових установах, органах міського та земського самоврядування тощо. Значний вплив на розвиток українського музейництва, хоч і з певним запізненням, мала земська реформа 1864 р., яка спричинила значні зміни в економічному та культурному житті. У Наддніпрянщині, зокрема на Полтавщині та Чернігівщині, як губернські, так і повітові земства мали у своєму підпорядкуванні музейні осередки.У запропонованій статті розглядається історія створення та діяльності музеїв, що працювали при органах земського самоврядування наприкінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст. на Лівобережній Україні. Аналізується ініціатива створення музейних закладів, склад їхніх колекції тощо. У статті проаналізовані джерела фінансування музейних установ, що відбувалося за рахунок земських установ та меценатських внесків. Висвітлюється наукова діяльність земських установ, їхні публікації, у тому числі звіти та періодичні видання. Також увага приділена аналізу показників відвідуваності музейних закладів, визначено просвітницькі можливості цих установ. Розглянуто зв’язок музейних закладів з земськими органами, вплив останніх на відкриття музеїв, прийняття колекцій у власність, подальше фінансування тощо. Зроблено висновок, що музейництво посідало значне місце серед інших культурно-просвітницьких напрямків діяльності земств Лівобережної України наприкінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст. У цей період в українських губерніях працювали як губернські, так і повітові земські музеї. У створенні та подальшій роботі земських музейних установ брали активну участь вітчизняні вчені, громадські діячі, меценати. Земським музеям вдалося зібрати значні колекції переважно за рахунок меценатської діяльності та науковим розвідкам музейних працівників.

The issue of documents’ study from a family archive for estate’s daily life reconstruction on Left-bank Ukraine within 19th century is considered in the paper for the first time. A base for the scientific exploration was Galagan’s family archive that represented a regional community, particularly Ukrainian nobility with the origins from kozaks’ high-ranking officers. The collection is characterized by the high level of documents preservation, various typological groups’ existence that are created by Galagan’s family as well as by the persons connected with the family during the imperial stage of Ukrainian history. The fact permits to consider a country estate in the light of multi-level daily practices of Ukrainian nobility within the elaborate system of social and cultural connections. The aim of the issue was to determine the significance of informational and meaningful potential of Galagan’s archive for analysis and reconstruction of estate’s daily life as a center of Ukrainian nobility’s economic and cultural practices within the determined time and space limits. The author demonstrates that several meaningful existential layers of estate’s daily life as well as the nobility in general have been reconstructed according to Galagan’s archive materials. Among the recreated notions are estate’s setting; family relationships, connections with peasants and hired workers; the way of housekeeping under historical circumstances; general awareness of social and political events outside an estate; reconstruction of close family relationships; intellectual and spiritual decoration of Ukrainian nobility’s country estates. Each of the presented layers is recreated on the ground of texts analysis from one typological group as well as by information comparison from various typological sources. The documents consideration has highlighted a fact of private and public spheres’ intersection on the base of estate’s daily life. The results of presented study can be used in historical exploration of various social groups’ daily routine in Ukraine, family biography’s reconstruction within the context of social history, country estate consideration as an original historical and cultural phenomenon under the realities of 19th century. The issue is based on an original author’s conception., В статье впервые рассмотрена проблема изучения документов фамильного архива для реконструкции повседневности барского имения на территории Левобережной Украины в пространственно-временных рамках XIX века. Основой для исследования был избран фамильный архив рода Галаганов, который представил региональное сообщество - украинское дворянство казацко-старшинского происхождения. Архивному собранию присущи высокий уровень сохранности документов, наличие источников различных типологических групп, созданных не только Галаганами, но и лицами из родственных им семей в течение имперского этапа истории Украины. Это позволяет рассмотреть помещичье имение как центр повседневных практик украинской элиты в многоуровневой сети социокультурных связей. Поэтому целью статьи стало определение значимости информационно-содержательного потенциала архива Галаганов для анализа и реконструкции повседневности барского имения как средоточие хозяйственных и социокультурных практик украинской элиты в определенных пространственно-временных пределах. Автор доказывает, что по материалам архива Галаганов реконструируется несколько содержательных пластов будничного существования не только барского имения, но украинского дворянства в целом. Это: обустройство семейного быта; взаимоотношения между дворянской семьей, крестьянами, наемными работниками; стиль веедения хозяйства в рамках исторической эпохи; осознание жителями поместья общественных событий за его пределами; воспроизведение отношений внутри семьи; оформление интеллектуально-духовной среды сельских поместий украинского дворянства. Каждый из этих срезов повседневности воспроизводится как на основании анализа ряда текстов одной типологической группы, так и путем сопоставления информации из различных по жанровым признакам источников. Рассмотрение документов показывает, что в повседневных практиках хозяев имения взаимодействовали частная и публичная сферы. Результаты исследования будут способствовать изучению истории повседневности социальных групп в Украине в определенном континууме, реконструкции биографии семьи в контексте социальной истории, рассмотрению барского имения в реалиях XIX в. как оригинального историко-культурного феномена. Статья основывается на оригинальной авторской концепции., У статті вперше розглянуто проблему вивчення документів фамільного архіву для реконструкції повсякдення панського маєтку на теренах Лівобережної України у просторово-часових межах XIX століття. Основою для розвідки було обрано фамільний архів роду Ґалаґанів, який презентував регіональну спільноту - українське дворянство козацько-старшинського походження. Для збірки притаманні високий рівень збереження документів, наявність джерел різних типологічних груп, що створені не лише Ґалаґанами, але й особами зі споріднених з ними фамілій впродовж імперського етапу історії України. Це дозволяє розглянути панський маєток як центр повсякденних практик української еліти у багаторівневій мережі соціокультурних зв’язків. Тому метою статті стало визначення значущості інформативно-змістового потенціалу архіву Ґалаґанів для аналізу й реконструкції повсякдення панського маєтку як осереддя господарчих і соціокультурних практик української еліти у визначених просторово-часових межах. Автор доводить, що за матеріалами архіву Ґалаґанів реконструюється кілька змістових пластів буденного існування не лише панського маєтку, але українського дворянства в цілому. Це: облаштування родинного побуту; взаємини між дворянською родиною, селянами, найманими працівниками; упорядкування господарства щодо історичної доби; усвідомлення мешканцями маєтку суспільних подій за його межами; відтворення стосунків всередині родини; оформлення інтелектуально-духовного середовища сільських маєтків українського панства. Кожен з цих зрізів повсякдення відтворюється як на підставі аналізу низки текстів однієї типологічної групи, так і шляхом зіставлення інформації з різних за жанровими ознаками джерел. Розгляд документів унаочнив той факт, що у повсякденних практиках господарів маєтку взаємодіяли приватна та публічна сфери. Результати дослідження сприятимуть вивченню історії повсякдення соціальних груп в Україні у визначеному континуумі, реконструкції біографії родини в контексті соціальної історії, розгляду панського маєтку в реаліях XIX ст. як оригінального історико-культурного феномену. Стаття ґрунтується на оригінальній авторській концепції.

The author examines the functions of Russian voivodas in the town of Nezhin between the mid-17th and early 18th centuries and the role the voivoda administration played in the integration of Ukrainian lands into Russia. The author introduces previously unstudied sources, such as Nezhin voivodas’ correspondence with the Little Russia Prikaz and economic documents drawn up in the local office. He demonstrates that, in terms of the Ukrainian population, Nezhin voivodas had neither administrative nor legal power: their functions were limited to the taxation of Nezhin burghers and peasants (between 1666 and 1668). In legal cases where one of the parties was represented by Cossacks or townspeople and the other by military men of the garrison, voivodas judged them together with Nezhin regimental officers and communal authorities. The author states that only in certain cases could voivodas arrest Ukrainian Cossacks, burghers, and peasants accused of treason against the tsar. The author focuses on voivodas’ functions in the administration of the military garrison: they led the defence of the castle during sieges, prevented service people from escaping the town, and maintained the town fortifications in peace and wartime. Together with their military duties, voivodas managed the local office, dealt with the return of runaway serfs to their owners, and reported sensitive information that concerned the state of affairs in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Right-bank Ukraine to Moscow. Moreover, the voivodas also had to handle a number of economic issues, like purchasing grain for the garrison, supporting its activity, and controlling the distribution of income received by the tavern., Исследуется вопрос о функциях российских воевод в г. Нежине в середине XVII – начале XVIII в., который связан с решением проблемы значения воеводского управления в рамках процесса интеграции украинских земель в состав России. Автором введены в научный оборот новые источники, в том числе переписка нежинских воевод с Малороссийским приказом и хозяйственные документы, составленные в съезжей избе. Выявлено, что в отношении украинского населения нежинские воеводы были лишены не только административных, но и судебных полномочий, и их функции сводились к взиманию налогов с нежинских мещан и селян (с 1666 по 1668 г.). Если в качестве одной из сторон судебного разбирательства выступали казаки или мещане, а с другой – «ратные люди» гарнизона, то такие дела разбирались при участии полковой старшины и городового магистрата. Как отмечает автор, воеводы только в отдельных случаях могли подвергать аресту украинских казаков, мещан и селян, обвинявшихся в измене царю. Подробно рассмотрены функции воевод, связанные с военным руководством гарнизоном «ратных людей»: они возглавляли оборону замка во время осад, боролись с побегами служилых людей из города, следили за состоянием городских укреплений в мирное и военное время. Наряду с военными полномочиями, воеводы осуществляли руководство съезжей избой, разбирали дела о возврате беглых крепостных крестьян прежним владельцам и докладывали в Москву о собранных агентурных сведениях, касающихся положения дел в Речи Посполитой и на Правобережной Украине. Притом воеводы должны были также решать ряд хозяйственных вопросов, в том числе покупки хлеба для гарнизона, обеспечения его деятельности и распределения дохода, полученного от кружечного двора.

The goals and results of the Little Russian police reform were determined by the fact that the imperial Russian centre lacked awareness of the realities of life in Left-bank Ukraine and the Enlightenment-inspired ideas of rationalising administration processes. The article analyses proposals for the reorganisation of the police prepared in connection with the establishment of the Collegium of Little Russia (1764‒1765) and elections to the Legislative Commission (1767‒1768). The article describes the positions of representatives from the imperial centre (Governor-general Rumyantsev’s entourage) and regional elites (the gentry and burghers) on the police issue. Minor reforms were planned in an undated secret instruction to Pyotr Rumyantsev and his report from 18 May 1765. The full-scale programme involved a change in administrative-territorial divisions, the creation of new police structures and principles of interaction with local elites, and police activity that would encompass the entire territory and population of Left-bank Ukraine. The programme appeared in the undated and unauthorised document entitled Some Notes on Little Russia (presumably from November‒December 1764) and in an instruction from the Little Russian Collegium to the Legislative Commission. The author demonstrates that a limited number of proposals for the reorganisation of the police of Left-bank Ukraine were approved, but he also emphasises their possible influence on the Constitution for the Administration of the Provinces of the Russian Empire (1775)., Слабая осведомленность имперского центра о реалиях Левобережной Украины вкупе с просветительской установкой на рационализацию управленческих процессов предопределили задачи и результаты реформирования малороссийской, преимущественно городской полиции. В статье проанализированы предложения по ее реорганизации, подготовленные в связи с созданием Малороссийской коллегии (1764‒1765) и выборами в Комиссию для составления проекта нового Уложения (1767‒1768). Выделены позиции представителей имперского центра (окружения малороссийского генерал-губернатора П. А. Румянцева) и региональных элит (шляхты и жителей городов) по полицейскому вопросу. Минимальные преобразования планировались в недатированной секретной инструкции П. А. Румянцеву и его докладе от 18 мая 1765 г. Максимальная программа реформ предполагала изменение административно-территориального деления, создание новых полицейских структур и принципов взаимодействия с местными элитами, а также охват полицейской деятельностью всей территории и всего населения Левобережной Украины. Она была представлена в недатированных и неавторизированных «Некоторых примечаниях до Малой России» (ориентировочно ноябрь-декабрь 1764 г.) и наказе депутату от Малороссийской коллегии в Комиссию для составления проекта нового Уложения. Отмечено ограниченное утверждение предложений по реорганизации полиции Левобережной Украины, но при этом возможное их влияние на «Учреждение для управления Губерний Всероссийской Империи» (1775).

The problems of the development of pottery tradition in Eastern Ukraine region are investigated. Traditional and modern pottery are analyzed, its role in traditional culture of Ukraine is determined. The article is considered the problem of formation and development of pottery traditions in the main centers of Eastern Ukraine in late XVIII-XX centuries.Among the pottery Poltava province best known were pots, bowls, markets, makitries, jugs of milk and water jugs, cups, pumpkins, water barrels, flowerpots, "hormah" (shaped bread), "sloyiky" (jars), "kurushky" (for incense), the rams of vodka, kumanetses, tiles for stoves and cornices to them, fire bricks and roofs. The children produced the toys by themselves, that’s why the toys have so pronounced primitive shapes, simplicity. The list of pottery largely confirms the excellent characteristics of Poltava ceramics from other regions of the left-bank Ukraine.The pottery of Poltava province has deeply traditional forms. It is characterized by floral and animal ornamentations, two- three-color painting as wavy lines, polychromatic painting, splendor, variety of artistic techniques. The golden, brown, green and blue glazes used for figured utensils.Pottery of Kharkiv region were used primarily for residential purposes and in some cases – for other purposes. The most popular were anthropomorphic dishes in Kupiansk, New Vodolaga, Valki and Izjum. The specific feature of this region in the manufacture of pottery and pottery dishes were ornamentation of utensils (plates and bowls only) for the old way, breaking the paint by the special brush.Chernihiv region was famous by the manufacture of tiles, which was in great demand at fairs of Kharkiv, Poltava and Chernigov regions. The production of the tiles acquired the prosperity in the late eighteenth – early nineteenth centuries. Mostly potters from Oleshnya produced makitries, different in size (1 to 20 liters ) jugs (1 to 15 liters), to form a belt – "pasochnytsi" teapots, candlesticks, whistles, pots for flowers, "tsvitoshnyky" – for indoor plants hladyshky (pitchers), pumpkins, flasks, lohoni (bowl, basin 30 liters). For baking plums special dishes – Banks (8 to 10 liters) were made.Tiles in Oleshnya were not made. In the last century, Oleshnya was famous by manufacturing ceramics, which enjoyed great popularity in Ukraine and abroad.For ornaments the pottery of Chernihiv region was characterized by graphic design and plant- animal composition. Regarding pottery of Ichnya, Krolevets, Nizhin regions, it was characterized by geometrized compositions with orange, yellow and green.From the study of T. Ershova, we see that pottery of Sumska region is characterized by prudence the forms. It should be noted that the restraint form can be traced even in ancient pottery of northerners. The pottery of Sumska region had its own specific characteristics. There were deep bowls, "shaped, low" sole "pots and makitries – squat and stable, narrow kovbushky – broad-shouldered, with a smooth silhouette calm".In the second part of the nineteenth century the outstanding pottery village center of Sumska region was Shatrysche village of Yampolsky district. It was there that made the gray household ceramics. The ornament was just scratched and stamped. Since 1930 the masters of Shatrysche village start watering pottery inside. Techniques and methods of making pottery artisans of Lugansk region borrowed in potters of Opishnensky village. Then, based on the adopted techniques, creating their own country. In villages Yevsuh and Makarov Yar artisans, besides the dishes, made "fistula", toys that are different from other cells of the Left-Bank Ukraine. The pottery of Makarov Yar village were too primitive. N. Kaplun said that because of his rudeness, lack glaze dinnerware this cell is not used at fairs so popular like other dishes pottery centers in Luhansk region. Folk masters of Luhanshchyna applied ornament on pottery in the upper body. They sold the products of their local potters in the late nineteenth century at fairs, sometimes bartered for bread.So, pottery of the Left-bank Ukraine were different not only in their production, but also the range. This pottery is based on the historical and artistic experience, which has accumulated over the centuries., Рассматривается вопрос бытования гончарной традиции на Левобережной Украине. Анализируется традиционное гончарство, определяется его роль и место в традиционно-бытовой культуре Украины. Уделяется огромное внимание региональным отличиям гончарных изделий Полтавщины, Харьковщины, Черниговщины, Луганщины и Сумщины., У статті розглядається питання побутування гончарної традиції на території Лівобережної України. Аналізується традиційне гончарство, визначаються його роль та місце в традиційно побутовій культурі України. Приділяється велика увага регіональним відмінностям гончарних виробів Полтавщини, Харківщини, Чернігівщини, Луганщини та Сумщини.

Розглянуто початковий етап організації рентгенівської допомоги населенню на теренах Лівобережної України після встановлення радянської влади. Показано роль кваліфікованої підготовки фахівців з медичної рентгенології в процесі становлення нової галузі. We considered the initial stage of the organization of the X-ray aid to the population in the Left-Bank Ukraine, after the establishment of Soviet power. We showed the role of skilled training of specialist for medical radiology in the process becoming of a new industry.
