Background: Canine transmissible venereal tumour (CTVT) is a widely spread, contagious neoplasm commonly found in dogs. Mostly affects the external genitalia, however, it may also exhibit unusual clinical presentations. Aim: To describe the epidemiology, clinical appearance, cytologic and histopathologic features of dogs with TVT in Morocco. Methods: Within the realm of a nation-wide study on canine and feline tumours in Morocco between September 2020 and March 2023, dogs with histologically diagnosed TVT were identified and data on epidemiologic, clinical as well as cytologic and histologic features compiled and analyzed. Results: A total of 64 cases of canine TVT were diagnosed. 52 dogs were cross-breed (81.2%) while 4 Siberian Huskies (6.2%) and 3 German shepherds (4.7%) were the most affected pure-breed dogs. Median age of dogs at diagnosis was 3 years (range, 1-10years) and male gender was more common (male:female ratio; 1.3:1). Tumour was located exclusively in the genital area in 58 cases (90.6%), whereas 6 dogs (9.4%) had an atypical occurrence of TVT with locations including skin and nasal cavity. Cytology allowed for an early diagnosis in 2 cases. Histology revealed no differences between the genital and extragenital forms. Immunohistochemistry was necessary in 4 cases and revealed positive staining for vimentin and Alpha-1-antitrypsin, negative marking for CD3, CD20 and AE1/AE3, and low cytoplasmic labeling for lysozyme. Conclusion: CTVT is a widely distributed neoplasm in Morocco, mostly showing presence in young, cross-breed, and oftentimes stray dogs. Converting solar energy using the Parabolic Trough Collector (PTC) to produce electrical energy and supply industrial heat is one of the most prominent and most popular sustainable and renewable, widely used throughout the worldwide due to its effectiveness and benefit returns. For this reason, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of these power plants under a specific climatic conditions and analysis the results come out from the simulation using an EES developed model. The analysis investigates the energy and exergy of the PTC plant coupled with Turboden ORC cycle. The presented model allows us to preview the theoretical results and derive the expected results smoothly, with the possibility of development for a better control of the use of renewable energies in the industrial field. The thermal efficiency of the ORC cycle increases as the heat output increases until it reaches an almost constant value above 2801 [kW] in heat output with a output capacity of the ORC cycle about 1 [MW].

In this work, we are interested in presenting a new approach allowing us to express the Direct Normal solar Irradiation (DNI) according to the sunshine duration essentially. This choice is justified by the fact that in addition to the sunshine, duration has a strong correlation with solar irradiation, it is measured in many radiometric stations. Some clear sky models with modifications developed exclusively here are made valid for all types of sky. The proposed model is compared with one of the intelligent models such as the Support Vector Regression (SVR) for daily data from Ghardaïa.

Currently, water availability and accessibility have become more challenging due to population growth, development of industrial and agricultural activities, and the effects of climate change. Various types of pollutants released by human activities threaten water quality and availability. Microplastics and emerging contaminants are currently affecting water resources and posing a risk to human health. The present study reviews the available studies that analyzed the abundance, shape, and size of microplastics in water, including glass, plastic, reusable, recyclable, and beverage bottled water, tap water, and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) influent and effluent. Analysis of the collected data allowed comparison of microplastic abundance in different packaging water bottles, tap water, and raw and treated water from WWTPs. The analysis results suggest that microplastics in drinking water are mainly associated with water sources. Therefore, more attention should be paid to water treatment and purification processes and technologies. The type of packaging is also a crucial parameter to consider when quantifying microplastics in drinking water, although the use of glass bottles is recommended to minimize the potential associated risk to humans and ensure safe consumption. Increasing public awareness and knowledge about waste separation, the potential risks of microplastics to human health, and the urgent need for behavioral change in the management of waste, mainly plastic objects, remain the main keys to reducing the number of plastics entering our environment and our bodies.

The present work aims to analyze the distribution of radionuclides naturally occurring in the oil shale of the Ama Fatma coastal zone. For this purpose, using gamma-ray spectrometry, we analyzed the activity concentrations of uranium (U), thorium (Th) series, and potassium-40 (K-40) in oil shale samples retrieved from the study area. The concentrations of U-238 ranged from 45 ± 36 to 194 ± 50 Bq.kg−1 and those of Th-232 fluctuated between 1.48 ± 0.92 and 9.47 ± 1.06 Bq.kg−1. The measured concentrations for Ra-226, Pb-214, and K-40 oscillated between 33 ± 5 and 138 ± 9 Bq.kg−1, 18 ± 1 and 68 ± 3 Bq.kg−1, and between 17 ± 4 and 279 ± 16 Bq.kg−1, respectively. The obtained values variation appears to be related to the deposit nature and assimilation processes of appropriate radionuclides rather than the retrieved samples’ related depth. The analysis of 232Th/238U and 226Ra/238U allowed an understanding of these radionuclides’ behaviors. The ratios 226Ra/238U ranged from 0.56 to 0.74 with a mean value of 0.70 which indicates the existence of disequilibrium in the investigated oil shale samples. This disequilibrium can be attributed to significant differences in the mobility of these radionuclides.

The present work aims to measure the natural radioactivity and annual effective dose in vegetables collected from an agricultural area in El-Jadida located in the Northwestern part of Morocco. The activity concentrations of 210Pb, 226Ra, and 40K were determined using a high-resolution gamma spectrometry technique. The results show that the specific activities in vegetable samples of 210Pb, 226Ra, and 40K vary between 3.44 ± 0.55 Bq.Kg−1 and 12.80 ± 0.57 Bq.Kg−1; 2.25 ± 0.6 Bq.Kg−1 and 5.15 ± 0.60 Bq.Kg−1, and between 507.5 ± 27.76 and 1808.6 ± 93.19 Bq.Kg−1 respectively. The total annual effective doses calculated for investigated vegetable samples for Pb-210, Ra-226, and K-40 are 0.5997 mSv/y, 0.1202 mSv/y, and 0.4194 mSv/y respectively. The obtained values of natural radioactivity and annual effective dose for 210Pb, 226Ra, and 40K in the vegetable of the El Jadida region are safe and do not exceed the International limit values.

The Oualidia lagoon provides different ecosystem services of socio-economic and ecological interest. These services and goods are important to the local population living there, particularly aquaculture, fishing, and agricultural activities. However, the increase in human activities around such ecosystems has adversely influenced their environmental quality and caused their natural resource depletion. In this context, the main ecosystem services and goods were analyzed; this lagoon provides and defines the main pressures on such an ecosystem. The analysis highlights the need to build a balance between the economic activity growth in this coastal system and the lagoon environment to sustain its natural resource development and avoid their depletion and losses.

The need to investigate new pharmaceutical compounds, particularly natural molecules, as potential alternatives to synthetic chemicals compounds in order to address the issues of biofilms development and antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria. Honey, is known to have both nutritional and therapeutic virtues and a real reservoir of functional molecules. This research aimed to evaluate the antibacterial and antibiofilm formation properties of two honey samples (Multifloral honey and Sidr honey) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of these two honey samples was made using well assay and the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was determined using the micro-broth dilution assay showed that Multifloral honey and Sidr honey exhibit an antibacterial effect against both tested bacteria. The inhibition zones revealed that the tested bacteria did not express the same sensitivity where a high activity was recorded with multifloral honey against S. aureus. These results were confirmed by the MIC values, where Staphylococcus aureus was more sensitive and it was inhibited at 6.25% and 12.5% with Multifloral and Sidr honey respectively, while Pseudomonas aeruginosa was inhibited at a concentration of 25% (v/v) with both honey types. According to this study, we revealed also that the biofilms formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 were decreased when incubated with the sub-inhibitory concentration of both tested honey samples.
