Quantum Physics - Abstract
In this work, we propose a simple but effective experiment for probing the boundary in which a wave-function collapses. Using a quantum optics system interacting with a photomultiplier tube (PMT), one is able to determine the number of electrons needed to interfere with the "which-path" information to cause the collapse of a quantum state.

Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Current image stitching methods often produce noticeable seams in challenging scenarios such as uneven hue and large parallax. To tackle this problem, we propose the Reference-Driven Inpainting Stitcher (RDIStitcher), which reformulates the image fusion and rectangling as a reference-based inpainting model, incorporating a larger modification fusion area and stronger modification intensity than previous methods. Furthermore, we introduce a self-supervised model training method, which enables the implementation of RDIStitcher without requiring labeled data by fine-tuning a Text-to-Image (T2I) diffusion model. Recognizing difficulties in assessing the quality of stitched images, we present the Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs)-based metrics, offering a new perspective on evaluating stitched image quality. Compared to the state-of-the-art (SOTA) method, extensive experiments demonstrate that our method significantly enhances content coherence and seamless transitions in the stitched images. Especially in the zero-shot experiments, our method exhibits strong generalization capabilities. Code: https://github.com/yayoyo66/RDIStitcher, Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
An angular analysis of the $B_s^0 \rightarrow \phi e^+e^-$ decay is performed using the proton-proton collision dataset collected between 2011 and 2018 by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and $13\,{\rm TeV}$. The analysis is performed in the very low dielectron invariant mass-squared region between $0.0009$ and $0.2615\,{\rm GeV}^2\!/c^4$. The longitudinal polarisation fraction of the $\phi$ meson is measured to be less than $11.5\%$ at $90\%$ confidence level. The $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathcal{R}e C\!P}$ observable, which is related to the lepton forward-backward asymmetry, is measured to be $0.116 \pm 0.155 \pm 0.006$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The transverse asymmetries, $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{(2)}$ and $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathcal{I}m C\!P}$ , which are sensitive to the virtual photon polarisation, are found to be $-0.045 \pm 0.235 \pm 0.014$ and $0.002 \pm 0.247 \pm 0.016$, respectively. The results are consistent with Standard Model predictions., Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures. High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We present measurements of $B \to K{}^{*}(892)\gamma$ decays using $365\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected from 2019 to 2022 by the Belle~II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The data sample contains $(387 \pm 6) \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events. We measure branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) for both $B^{0}\to K{}^{*0}\gamma$ and $B^{+}\to K{}^{*+}\gamma$ decays. The difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) and the isospin asymmetry ($\Delta_{0+}$) between these neutral and charged channels are also measured. We obtain the following branching fractions and $C\!P$ asymmetries: $\mathcal{B} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (4.14 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.11 ) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (4.02 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.13 )\times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (-3.3 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.4 )\%$, and $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (-0.7 \pm 2.9 \pm 0.6 )\%$. The measured difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries is $\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P} = (+2.6 \pm 3.8 \pm 0.7 )\%$, and the measured isospin asymmetry is $\Delta_{0+} = (+5.0 \pm 2.0 \pm 1.5 )\%$. The first uncertainties listed are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are consistent with world-average values and theory predictions.

Computer Science - Distributed, Parallel, and Cluster Computing - Abstract
The size of deep learning models has been increasing to enhance model quality. The linear increase in training computation budget with model size means that training an extremely large-scale model is exceedingly time-consuming. Recently, the Mixture of Expert (MoE) has drawn significant attention as it can scale models to extra-large sizes with a stable computation budget. However, inefficient distributed training of large-scale MoE models hinders their broader application. Specifically, a considerable dynamic load imbalance occurs among devices during training, significantly reducing throughput. Several load-balancing works have been proposed to address the challenge. System-level solutions draw more attention for their hardware affinity and non-disruption of model convergence compared to algorithm-level ones. However, they are troubled by high communication costs and poor communication-computation overlapping. To address these challenges, we propose a systematic load-balancing method, Pro-Prophet, which consists of a planner and a scheduler for efficient parallel training of large-scale MoE models. To adapt to the dynamic load imbalance, we profile training statistics and use them to design Pro-Prophet. For lower communication volume, Pro-Prophet planner determines a series of lightweight load-balancing strategies and efficiently searches for a communication-efficient one for training based on the statistics. For sufficient overlapping of communication and computation, Pro-Prophet scheduler schedules the data-dependent operations based on the statistics and operation features, further improving the training throughput. Experimental results indicate that Pro-Prophet achieves up to 2.66x speedup compared to Deepspeed-MoE and FasterMoE. Additionally, Pro-Prophet achieves a load-balancing enhancement of up to 11.01x when compared to FasterMoE.

Electrical Engineering and Systems Science - Systems and Control ,Mathematics - Optimization and Control - Abstract
Disturbance rejection in high-precision control applications can be significantly improved upon via online convex optimization (OCO). This includes classical techniques such as recursive least squares (RLS) and more recent, regret-based formulations. However, these methods can cause instabilities in the presence of model uncertainty. This paper introduces a safety filter for systems with OCO in the form of adaptive finite impulse response (FIR) filtering to ensure robust disturbance rejection. The safety filter enforces a robust stability constraint on the FIR coefficients while minimally altering the OCO command in the $\infty$-norm cost. Additionally, we show that the induced $\ell_\infty$-norm allows for easy online implementation of the safety filter by directly limiting the OCO command. The constraint can be tuned to trade off robustness and performance. We provide a simple example to demonstrate the safety filter., Comment: Submitted to the 2025 European Control Conference. Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Multimodal LLMs (MLLMs) have emerged as an extension of Large Language Models (LLMs), enabling the integration of various modalities. However, Any-to-Any MLLMs are limited to generating pairwise modalities 'Text + X' within a single response, such as Text + {Image or Audio or Video}. To address this limitation, we introduce Spider, a novel efficient Any-to-Many Modalities Generation (AMMG) framework, which can generate an arbitrary combination of modalities 'Text + Xs', such as Text + {Image and Audio and Video}. To achieve efficient AMMG, our Spider integrates three core components: a Base Model for basic X-to-X (i.e., Any-to-Any) modality processing, a novel Efficient Decoders-Controller for controlling multimodal Decoders to generate Xs (many-modal) contents, and an Any-to-Many Instruction Template designed for producing Xs signal prompts. To train Spider, we constructed a novel Text-formatted Many-Modal (TMM) dataset, which facilitates the learning of the X-to-Xs (i.e., Any-to-Many) capability necessary for AMMG. Ultimately, the well-trained Spider generates a pseudo X-to-Xs dataset, the first-ever X-to-Xs many-modal dataset, enhancing the potential for AMMG task in future research. Overall, this work not only pushes the boundary of multimodal interaction but also provides rich data support for advancing the field.

While small language models (SLMs) show promises for mobile deployment, their real-world performance and applications on smartphones remains underexplored. We present SlimLM, a series of SLMs optimized for document assistance tasks on mobile devices. Through extensive experiments on a Samsung Galaxy S24, we identify the optimal trade-offs between model size (ranging from 125M to 7B parameters), context length, and inference time for efficient on-device processing. SlimLM is pre-trained on SlimPajama-627B and fine-tuned on DocAssist, our constructed dataset for summarization, question answering and suggestion tasks. Our smallest model demonstrates efficient performance on S24, while larger variants offer enhanced capabilities within mobile constraints. We evaluate SlimLM against existing SLMs, showing comparable or superior performance and offering a benchmark for future research in on-device language models. We also provide an Android application, offering practical insights into SLM deployment. Our findings provide valuable insights and illuminate the capabilities of running advanced language models on high-end smartphones, potentially reducing server costs and enhancing privacy through on-device processing.

The correlated Stoke antiStokes (SaS) scattering plays a crucial role in quantum information processing, such as heralded light sources, Fock state dynamics, and write read protocol for quantum memory. However, several reported materials exhibit low degree of SaS correlation and require high-power pulse laser excitation, limiting further applications. Herein, we explore the giant correlated multiorder SaS scattering under low power continuous laser excitation through red-sideband resonance of exciton in semiconductor ZnTe nanobelts. At low temperatures, we observe an unexpectedly strong anti-Stokes signal for multiorder longitudinal optical phonons, with SaS correlations two or four orders of magnitude larger than reported results. Furthermore, we observed the mitigation of laser heating effect for longitudinal optical phonon in SaS scattering. This finding paves a new pathway to study multiorder quantum correlated photon pairs produced through exciton-resonant Raman scattering.

Computer Science - Information Theory - Abstract
Variable-length feedback coding has the potential to significantly enhance communication reliability in finite block length scenarios by adapting coding strategies based on real-time receiver feedback. Designing such codes, however, is challenging. While deep learning (DL) has been employed to design sophisticated feedback codes, existing DL-aided feedback codes are predominantly fixed-length and suffer performance degradation in the high code rate regime, limiting their adaptability and efficiency. This paper introduces deep variable-length feedback (DeepVLF) code, a novel DL-aided variable-length feedback coding scheme. By segmenting messages into multiple bit groups and employing a threshold-based decoding mechanism for independent decoding of each bit group across successive communication rounds, DeepVLF outperforms existing DL-based feedback codes and establishes a new benchmark in feedback channel coding.

Quark stars are challenging to confirm or exclude observationally because they can have similar masses and radii as neutron stars. By performing the first calculation of the non-equilibrium equation of state of decompressed quark matter at finite temperature, we determine the properties of the ejecta from binary quark-star or quark star-black hole mergers. We account for all relevant physical processes during the ejecta evolution, including quark nugget evaporation and cooling, and weak interactions. We find that these merger ejecta can differ significantly from those in neutron star mergers, depending on the binding energy of quark matter. For relatively high binding energies, quark star mergers are unlikely to produce r-process elements and kilonova signals. We propose that future observations of binary mergers and kilonovae could impose stringent constraints on the binding energy of quark matter and the existence of quark stars., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures

Computer Science - Machine Learning - Abstract
With the rapid development of wearable technology, devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and headphones equipped with IMUs have become essential for applications such as pedestrian positioning. However, traditional pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) methods struggle with diverse motion patterns, while recent data-driven approaches, though improving accuracy, often lack robustness due to reliance on a single device. In our work, we attempt to enhance the positioning performance using the low-cost commodity IMUs embedded in the wearable devices. We propose a multi-device deep learning framework named Suite-IN, aggregating motion data from Apple Suite for inertial navigation. Motion data captured by sensors on different body parts contains both local and global motion information, making it essential to reduce the negative effects of localized movements and extract global motion representations from multiple devices.

Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Flow diffusion models (FDMs) have recently shown potential in generation tasks due to the high generation quality. However, the current ordinary differential equation (ODE) solver for FDMs, e.g., the Euler solver, still suffers from slow generation since ODE solvers need many number function evaluations (NFE) to keep high-quality generation. In this paper, we propose a novel training-free flow-solver to reduce NFE while maintaining high-quality generation. The key insight for the flow-solver is to leverage the previous steps to reduce the NFE, where a cache is created to reuse these results from the previous steps. Specifically, the Taylor expansion is first used to approximate the ODE. To calculate the high-order derivatives of Taylor expansion, the flow-solver proposes to use the previous steps and a polynomial interpolation to approximate it, where the number of orders we could approximate equals the number of previous steps we cached. We also prove that the flow-solver has a more minor approximation error and faster generation speed. Experimental results on the CIFAR-10, CelebA-HQ, LSUN-Bedroom, LSUN-Church, ImageNet, and real text-to-image generation prove the efficiency of the flow-solver. Specifically, the flow-solver improves the FID-30K from 13.79 to 6.75, from 46.64 to 19.49 with $\text{NFE}=10$ on CIFAR-10 and LSUN-Church, respectively.

Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Training-free conditional generation aims to leverage the unconditional diffusion models to implement the conditional generation, where flow-matching (FM) and diffusion probabilistic models (DPMs) are two mature unconditional diffusion models that achieve high-quality generation. Two questions were asked in this paper: What are the underlying connections between FM and DPMs in training-free conditional generation? Can we leverage DPMs to improve the training-free conditional generation for FM? We first show that a probabilistic diffusion path can be associated with the FM and DPMs. Then, we reformulate the ordinary differential equation (ODE) of FM based on the score function of DPMs, and thus, the conditions in FM can be incorporated as those in DPMs. Finally, we propose two posterior sampling methods to estimate the conditional term and achieve a training-free conditional generation of FM. Experimental results show that our proposed method could be implemented for various conditional generation tasks. Our method can generate higher-quality results than the state-of-the-art methods.

Astrophysics - Earth and Planetary Astrophysics ,Astrophysics - Solar and Stellar Astrophysics - Abstract
The stellar obliquity of a planetary system is often used to help constrain the system's formation and evolution. One of the mechanisms to reorient the stellar spin involves a secular resonance crossing due to the dissipation of the protoplanetary disk when the system also has an inclined, distant ($\sim 300\;\mathrm{AU}$) binary companion. This mechanism is likely to operate broadly due to the $\sim 50\%$ binary fraction of FGK dwarfs and can play an important role in setting the initial stellar obliquities prior to any dynamical evolution. In this work, we revisit this mechanism analytically for idealized, homologously evolving disk models and show that the resulting stellar obliquities are broadly distributed between $60^\circ$ and $180^\circ$ for most warm and cold planets. We further show that non-homologus disk dissipation, such as the development of a photoevaporatively-opened gap at $\sim 2\;\mathrm{AU}$, can help maintain orbital alignment of warm planets, in agreement with observations. Our results represent the proper primordial obliquities for planetary systems with distant binary companions. They also represent the obliquities of stars with no present-day binary companions if these companions are dynamically unbound during the birth cluster phase of evolution, a process that occurs on a comparable timescale as the disk-driven obliquity excitation., Comment: 18 pages, 10 figures, submitted to ApJ

This study investigates the efficacy of Multi-Agent Systems in eliciting cross-agent communication and enhancing collective intelligence through group decision-making in a decentralized setting. Unlike centralized mechanisms, where a fixed hierarchy governs social choice, decentralized group decision-making allows agents to engage in joint deliberation. Our research focuses on the dynamics of communication and decision-making within various social choice methods. By applying different voting rules in various environments, we find that moderate decision flexibility yields better outcomes. Additionally, exploring the linguistic features of agent-to-agent conversations reveals indicators of effective collaboration, offering insights into communication patterns that facilitate or hinder collaboration. Finally, we propose various methods for determining the optimal stopping point in multi-agent collaborations based on linguistic cues. Our findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how decentralized decision-making and group conversation shape multi-agent collaboration, with implications for the design of more effective MAS environments., Comment: preprint

We propose a compressive yet effective mesh representation, Blocked and Patchified Tokenization (BPT), facilitating the generation of meshes exceeding 8k faces. BPT compresses mesh sequences by employing block-wise indexing and patch aggregation, reducing their length by approximately 75\% compared to the original sequences. This compression milestone unlocks the potential to utilize mesh data with significantly more faces, thereby enhancing detail richness and improving generation robustness. Empowered with the BPT, we have built a foundation mesh generative model training on scaled mesh data to support flexible control for point clouds and images. Our model demonstrates the capability to generate meshes with intricate details and accurate topology, achieving SoTA performance on mesh generation and reaching the level for direct product usage., Comment: Homepage: https://whaohan.github.io/bpt , Code: https://github.com/whaohan/bpt

In this paper, we study the partial data inverse problem for nonlinear magnetic Schr\"odinger equations. We show that the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, measured on an arbitrary part of the boundary, determines the time-dependent linear coefficients, electric and magnetic potentials, and nonlinear coefficients, provided that the divergence of the magnetic potential is given. Additionally, we also investigate both the forward and inverse problems for the linear magnetic Schr\"odinger equation with a time-dependent leading term. In particular, all coefficients are uniquely recovered from boundary data.

Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence - Abstract
Large language models (LLMs) are often equipped with multi-sample decoding strategies. An LLM implicitly defines an arithmetic code book, facilitating efficient and embarrassingly parallelizable \textbf{arithmetic sampling} to produce multiple samples using quasi-random codes. Traditional text generation methods, such as beam search and sampling-based techniques, have notable limitations: they lack parallelizability or diversity of sampled sequences. This study explores the potential of arithmetic sampling, contrasting it with ancestral sampling across two decoding tasks that employ multi-sample inference: chain-of-thought reasoning with self-consistency and machine translation with minimum Bayes risk decoding. Our results demonstrate that arithmetic sampling produces more diverse samples, significantly improving reasoning and translation performance as the sample size increases. We observe a $\mathbf{3\text{-}5\%}$ point increase in accuracy on the GSM8K dataset and a $\mathbf{0.45\text{-}0.89\%}$ point increment in COMET score for WMT19 tasks using arithmetic sampling without any significant computational overhead.

This paper aims to reconstruct hundreds of people's 3D poses, shapes, and locations from a single image with unknown camera parameters. Due to the small and highly varying 2D human scales, depth ambiguity, and perspective distortion, no existing methods can achieve globally consistent reconstruction and accurate reprojection. To address these challenges, we first propose Crowd3D, which leverages a new concept, Human-scene Virtual Interaction Point (HVIP), to convert the complex 3D human localization into 2D-pixel localization with robust camera and ground estimation to achieve globally consistent reconstruction. To achieve stable generalization on different camera FoVs without test-time optimization, we propose an extended version, Crowd3D++, which eliminates the influence of camera parameters and the cropping operation by the proposed canonical upright space and ground-aware normalization transform. In the defined upright space, Crowd3D++ also designs an HVIPNet to regress 2D HVIP and infer the depths. Besides, we contribute two benchmark datasets, LargeCrowd and SyntheticCrowd, for evaluating crowd reconstruction in large scenes. Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence - Abstract
Exploring the optimal management strategy for nitrogen and irrigation has a significant impact on crop yield, economic profit, and the environment. To tackle this optimization challenge, this paper introduces a deployable \textbf{CR}op Management system \textbf{O}ver all \textbf{P}ossible \textbf{S}tate availabilities (CROPS). CROPS employs a language model (LM) as a reinforcement learning (RL) agent to explore optimal management strategies within the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) crop simulations. A distinguishing feature of this system is that the states used for decision-making are partially observed through random masking. Consequently, the RL agent is tasked with two primary objectives: optimizing management policies and inferring masked states. This approach significantly enhances the RL agent's robustness and adaptability across various real-world agricultural scenarios. Extensive experiments on maize crops in Florida, USA, and Zaragoza, Spain, validate the effectiveness of CROPS. Not only did CROPS achieve State-of-the-Art (SOTA) results across various evaluation metrics such as production, profit, and sustainability, but the trained management policies are also immediately deployable in over of ten millions of real-world contexts. Furthermore, the pre-trained policies possess a noise resilience property, which enables them to minimize potential sensor biases, ensuring robustness and generalizability. Finally, unlike previous methods, the strength of CROPS lies in its unified and elegant structure, which eliminates the need for pre-defined states or multi-stage training. These advancements highlight the potential of CROPS in revolutionizing agricultural practices.

The dissociation of quarkonium states with different binding energies produced in heavy-ion collisions is a powerful probe for investigating the formation and properties of the quark-gluon plasma. The ratio of production cross-sections of $\psi(2S)$ and $J/\psi$ mesons times the ratio of their branching fractions into the dimuon final state is measured as a function of centrality using data collected by the LHCb detector in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV. The measured ratio shows no dependence on the collision centrality, and is compared to the latest theory predictions and to the recent measurements in literature., Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2024-041.html (LHCb public pages)

In space-based gravitational wave observatories such as Taiji, LISA, and TianQin, data gaps are inevitable due to mission design, implementation, and the long duration of observations. These data gaps degrade data quality and cause spectral leakage during Fourier transformations. Since ringdown signals are a key scientific objective for these observatories, it is crucial to assess the impact of data gaps on ringdown signal observations. This study employs LISA's science requirement of maintaining a duty cycle of at least 75% to evaluate the worst-case impact of data gaps, and uses massive black hole binary catalogs to assess the average effects. Our findings indicate that, on average, data gaps increase parameter estimation errors by approximately 2.1 times for the (2,2) mode and by about 1.6 times for the (3,3) mode. Joint observation is commonly employed to alleviate the impact of data gaps. Similarly, we have evaluated the effects of joint observation with two configurations, Taiji-LISA and Taiji-TianQin, which demonstrate notable mitigation of the effects of data gaps. This work provides a quantitative assessment of data gaps on ringdown signals and highlights the significance of joint observation., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures

For the retrieval of large-scale vegetation biophysical parameters, the inversion of radiative transfer models (RTMs) is the most commonly used approach. In recent years, Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based methods have become the mainstream for inverting RTMs due to their high accuracy and computational efficiency. It has been widely used in the retrieval of biophysical variables (BV). However, due to the lack of the Bayesian inversion theory interpretation, it faces challenges in quantifying the retrieval uncertainty, a crucial metric for product quality validation and downstream applications such as data assimilation or ecosystem carbon cycling modeling. This study proved that the ANN trained with squared loss outputs the posterior mean, providing a rigorous foundation for its uncertainty quantification, regularization, and incorporation of prior information. A Bayesian theoretical framework was subsequently proposed for ANN-based methods. Using this framework, we derived a new algorithm called Uncertainty Prediction Neural Network (UpNet), which enables the simultaneous training of two ANNs to retrieve BV and provide retrieval uncertainty. To validate our method, we compared UpNet with the standard Bayesian inference method, i.e., Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), in the inversion of a widely used RTM called ProSAIL for retrieving BVs and estimating uncertainty. The results demonstrated that the BVs retrieved and the uncertainties estimated by UpNet were highly consistent with those from MCMC, achieving over a million-fold acceleration. These results indicated that UpNet has significant potential for fast retrieval and uncertainty quantification of BVs or other parameters with medium and high-resolution remote sensing data. Our Python implementation is available at: https://github.com/Dash-RSer/UpNet., Comment: 24 pages, f figures

The rapid progression of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) has demonstrated superior performance on various multimodal benchmarks. However, the issue of data contamination during training creates challenges in performance evaluation and comparison. While numerous methods exist for detecting dataset contamination in large language models (LLMs), they are less effective for MLLMs due to their various modalities and multiple training phases. In this study, we introduce a multimodal data contamination detection framework, MM-Detect, designed for MLLMs. Our experimental results indicate that MM-Detect is sensitive to varying degrees of contamination and can highlight significant performance improvements due to leakage of the training set of multimodal benchmarks. Furthermore, We also explore the possibility of contamination originating from the pre-training phase of LLMs used by MLLMs and the fine-tuning phase of MLLMs, offering new insights into the stages at which contamination may be introduced.

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the $D_{s1}(2460)^+\to D_{s}^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ transition is performed simultaneously in $B^{0}\to D^{-}D_{s}^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, $B^{+}\to{\bar{D}}^{0} D_{s}^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, and $B^{0}\to D^{*-}D_{s}^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ decays. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7,8,$ and $13\,$TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of $9\,\rm{fb}^{-1}$. A clear double-peak structure is observed in the $m(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})$ spectrum of the $D_{s1}(2460)^{+}\to D_{s}^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ decay. The data can be described either with a model including $f_0(500)$, $f_0(980)$ and $f_2(1270)$ resonances, in which the contributions of $f_0(980)$ and $f_2(1270)$ are unexpectedly large, or with a model including $f_0(500)$, a doubly charged open-charm tetraquark state $T_{c\bar{s}}^{++}$ and its isospin partner $T_{c\bar{s}}^{0}$. If the former is considered implausible, the $T_{c\bar{s}}$ states are observed with high significance, and the data are consistent with isospin symmetry. When imposing isospin constraints between the two $T_{c\bar{s}}$ states, their mass and width are determined to be $2327\pm13\pm13\,$MeV and $96\pm16\,^{+170}_{-23}\,$MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The mass is slightly below the $DK$ threshold, and a spin-parity of $0^+$ is favoured with high significance., Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://lbfence.cern.ch/alcm/public/analysis/full-details/3280/ (LHCb public pages)

Physics - Optics - Abstract
With fast developments in computational power and algorithms, deep learning has made breakthroughs and been applied in many fields. However, generalization remains to be a critical challenge, and the limited generalization capability severely constrains its practical applications. Hallucination issue is another unresolved conundrum haunting deep learning and large models. By leveraging a physical model of imaging through scattering media, we studied the lack of generalization to system response functions in deep learning, identified its cause, and proposed a universal solution. The research also elucidates the creation process of a hallucination in image prediction and reveals its cause, and the common relationship between generalization and hallucination is discovered and clarified. Generally speaking, it enhances the interpretability of deep learning from a physics-based perspective, and builds a universal physical framework for deep learning in various fields. It may pave a way for direct interaction between deep learning and the real world, facilitating the transition of deep learning from a demo model to a practical tool in diverse applications.

Computer Science - Computation and Language - Abstract
Large language models (LLMs) have shown remarkable potential as autonomous agents, particularly in web-based tasks. However, existing LLM web agents heavily rely on expensive proprietary LLM APIs, while open LLMs lack the necessary decision-making capabilities. This paper introduces WebRL, a self-evolving online curriculum reinforcement learning framework designed to train high-performance web agents using open LLMs. WebRL addresses three key challenges in building LLM web agents, including the scarcity of training tasks, sparse feedback signals, and policy distribution drift in online learning. Specifically, WebRL incorporates 1) a self-evolving curriculum that generates new tasks from unsuccessful attempts, 2) a robust outcome-supervised reward model (ORM), and 3) adaptive reinforcement learning strategies to ensure consistent improvements. We apply WebRL to transform open Llama-3.1 and GLM-4 models into proficient web agents. On WebArena-Lite, WebRL improves the success rate of Llama-3.1-8B from 4.8% to 42.4%, and from 6.1% to 43% for GLM-4-9B. These open models significantly surpass the performance of GPT-4-Turbo (17.6%) and GPT-4o (13.9%) and outperform previous state-of-the-art web agents trained on open LLMs (AutoWebGLM, 18.2%). Our findings demonstrate WebRL's effectiveness in bridging the gap between open and proprietary LLM-based web agents, paving the way for more accessible and powerful autonomous web interaction systems.

Computer Science - Emerging Technologies ,Computer Science - Hardware Architecture - Abstract
Compute eXpress Link (CXL) is a pivotal technology for memory disaggregation in future heterogeneous computing systems, enabling on-demand memory expansion and improved resource utilization. Despite its potential, CXL is in its early stages with limited market products, highlighting the need for a reliable system-level simulation tool. This paper introduces CXL-DMSim, an open-source, high-fidelity full-system simulator for CXL disaggregated memory systems, comparable in speed to gem5. CXL-DMSim includes a flexible CXL memory expander model, device driver, and support for CXL\.io and CXL\.mem protocols. It supports both app-managed and kernel-managed modes, with the latter featuring a NUMA-compatible mechanism. Rigorous verification against real hardware testbeds with FPGA-based and ASIC-based CXL memory prototypes confirms CXL-DMSim's accuracy, with an average simulation error of 4.1%. Benchmark results using LMbench and STREAM indicate that CXL-FPGA memory has approximately ~2.88x higher latency than local DDR, while CXL-ASIC latency is about ~2.18x. CXL-FPGA achieves 45-69% of local DDR's memory bandwidth, and CXL-ASIC reaches 82-83%. The performance of CXL memory is significantly more sensitive to Rd/Wr patterns than local DDR, with optimal bandwidth at a 74%:26% ratio rather than 50%:50% due to the current CXL+DDR controller design. The study also shows that CXL memory can markedly enhance the performance of memory-intensive applications, with the most improvement seen in Viper (~23x) and in bandwidth-sensitive scenarios like MERCI (16%). CXL-DMSim's observability and expandability are demonstrated through detailed case studies, showcasing its potential for research on future CXL-interconnected hybrid memory pools., Comment: 15 pages, 19 figures

General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology - Abstract
For a short hair black hole(BH) which circumvents the "no-short-hair" theorem, it manifests intense hair behavior in the vicinity of the event horizon, accompanied by remarkable quantum effects. These effects may carry important information about the internal structure and dynamical evolution of BHs, thereby providing a new perspective on the problem of black hole information loss. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the influence of the hair parameter $Q_m$ and the structural parameter $k$ of the short hair BH in an extreme mass ratio(EMR) system on the periodic orbits of particles and gravitational wave radiation. The results show that as $Q_m$ increases, the radius and angular momentum of the bound orbit decrease, and the $E-L$ space shifts to the left. An increase in $k$ weakens this trend. When $k$ takes a larger value, the short hair BH and the Schwarzschild BH tend to be degenerate. Compared with the Schwarzschild BH, the bound orbit energy and angular momentum of the short hair black hole are reduced. Under the conditions of higher $Q_m$ and lower $k$, the gravitational wave period is suppressed and the signal amplitude is significantly increased. These results provide new observational means for distinguishing short hair BH from classical BH and offer new insights for verifying the no-hair theorem and understanding the physical behavior near the event horizon.

Astrophysics - Astrophysics of Galaxies - Abstract
We present 850 $\mu$m polarization observations of the IC 348 star-forming region in the Perseus molecular cloud as part of the B-fields In STar-forming Region Observation (BISTRO) survey. We study the magnetic properties of two cores (HH 211 MMS and IC 348 MMS) and a filamentary structure of IC 348. We find that the overall field tends to be more perpendicular than parallel to the filamentary structure of the region. The polarization fraction decreases with intensity, and we estimate the trend by power-law and the mean of the Rice distribution fittings. The power indices for the cores are much smaller than 1, indicative of possible grain growth to micron size in the cores. We also measure the magnetic field strengths of the two cores and the filamentary area separately by applying the Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi method and its alternative version for compressed medium. The estimated mass-to-flux ratios are 0.45-2.20 and 0.63-2.76 for HH 211 MMS and IC 348 MMS, respectively, while the ratios for the filament is 0.33-1.50. This result may suggest that the transition from subcritical to supercritical conditions occurs at the core scale ($\sim$ 0.05 pc) in the region. In addition, we study the energy balance of the cores and find that the relative strength of turbulence to the magnetic field tends to be stronger for IC 348 MMS than HH 211 MMS. The result could potentially explain the different configurations inside the two cores: a single protostellar system in HH 211 MMS and multiple protostars in IC 348 MMS., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 21 pages, 12 figures

Information metasurface is a type of metasurface device capable of rapidly altering its EM characteristics to generate specific information. Past research presents various strategies for embedding information into ambient EM waves through the superposition of each unit's quantified properties. Despite their capabilities, these approaches alone are insufficient for independently managing the creation of information and the allocation of spatial energy. Here, we propose a general theory of space-time decoupled metasurface (STD-Metasurface) to obtain the completely independent manipulation of information generating and spatial filtering. As proof-of-concept demonstration, we design a single-diode small-signal-modulation based prototype, capable of generating precise arbitrary waveforms while maintaining unaltered beam patterns. We exhibit how the superiority of the STD-Metasurface enhance its practicality and facilitate its application as a reconfigurable backscatter transmitter and an dynamic Doppler-spoofing reflection tag.

The UV-optical variability of quasars appears to depend on black-hole mass $M_{\rm BH}$ through physical timescales in the accretion disc. Here, we calculate mean emission radii, $R_{\rm mean}$, and orbital timescales, $t_{\rm orb}$, of thin accretion disc models as a function of emission wavelength from 1000 to 10000 Angstrom, $M_{\rm BH}$ from $10^6$ to $10^{11}$ solar masses, and Eddington ratios from 0.01 to 1. At low $M_{\rm BH}$, we find the textbook behaviour of $t_{\rm orb}\propto M_{\rm BH}^{-1/2}$ alongside $R_{\rm mean} \approx$ const, while towards higher masses the growing event horizon imposes $R_{\rm mean} \propto M_{\rm BH}$ and thus a turnover into $t_{\rm orb}\propto M_{\rm BH}$. We fit smoothly broken power laws to the numerical results and provide analytic convenience functions for $R_{\rm mean}(\lambda,M_{\rm BH},L_{3000})$ and $t_{\rm orb}(\lambda,M_{\rm BH},L_{3000})$ in terms of the observables $\lambda$, $M_{\rm BH}$, and the monochromatic luminosity $L_{3000}$. We then calculate variability structure functions for the ~2200 brightest quasars in the sky with estimates for $M_{\rm BH}$ and $L_{3000}$, using lightcurves from NASA/ATLAS orange passband spanning more than 7 years. The median luminosity of the accretion disc sample is $\log L_{\rm bol}/(\mathrm{erg\,s}^{-1})\approx 47$ and the median $\log M_{\rm BH}/M_\odot\approx 9.35$. At this high mass, the theoretical mass dependence of disc timescales levels off and turns over. The data show a weak dependence of variability on $M_{\rm BH}$ consistent with the turnover and a model where disc timescale drives variability amplitudes in the form $\log A/A_0=1/2\times\Delta t/t_{\rm orb}$, as suggested before. In the future, if the black-hole mass is known, observations of variability might be used as diagnostics of the physical luminosity in accretion discs, and therefore constrain inclination or dust extinction., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures, submitted to MNRAS

Recent studies on large language models (LLMs) and large multimodal models (LMMs) have demonstrated promising skills in various domains including science and mathematics. However, their capability in more challenging and real-world related scenarios like engineering has not been systematically studied. To bridge this gap, we propose EEE-Bench, a multimodal benchmark aimed at assessing LMMs' capabilities in solving practical engineering tasks, using electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) as the testbed. Our benchmark consists of 2860 carefully curated problems spanning 10 essential subdomains such as analog circuits, control systems, etc. Compared to benchmarks in other domains, engineering problems are intrinsically 1) more visually complex and versatile and 2) less deterministic in solutions. Successful solutions to these problems often demand more-than-usual rigorous integration of visual and textual information as models need to understand intricate images like abstract circuits and system diagrams while taking professional instructions, making them excellent candidates for LMM evaluations. Alongside EEE-Bench, we provide extensive quantitative evaluations and fine-grained analysis of 17 widely-used open and closed-sourced LLMs and LMMs. Our results demonstrate notable deficiencies of current foundation models in EEE, with an average performance ranging from 19.48% to 46.78%. Finally, we reveal and explore a critical shortcoming in LMMs which we term laziness: the tendency to take shortcuts by relying on the text while overlooking the visual context when reasoning for technical image problems. In summary, we believe EEE-Bench not only reveals some noteworthy limitations of LMMs but also provides a valuable resource for advancing research on their application in practical engineering tasks, driving future improvements in their capability to handle complex, real-world scenarios., Comment: preprint

Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Geometric estimation is required for scene understanding and analysis in panoramic 360{\deg} images. Current methods usually predict a single feature, such as depth or surface normal. These methods can lack robustness, especially when dealing with intricate textures or complex object surfaces. We introduce a novel multi-task learning (MTL) network that simultaneously estimates depth and surface normals from 360{\deg} images. Our first innovation is our MTL architecture, which enhances predictions for both tasks by integrating geometric information from depth and surface normal estimation, enabling a deeper understanding of 3D scene structure. Another innovation is our fusion module, which bridges the two tasks, allowing the network to learn shared representations that improve accuracy and robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that our MTL architecture significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both depth and surface normal estimation, showing superior performance in complex and diverse scenes. Our model's effectiveness and generalizability, particularly in handling intricate surface textures, establish it as a new benchmark in 360{\deg} image geometric estimation. Computer Science - Computation and Language - Abstract
Existing LLM agent systems typically select actions from a fixed and predefined set at every step. While this approach is effective in closed, narrowly-scoped environments, we argue that it presents two major challenges when deploying LLM agents in real-world scenarios: (1) selecting from a fixed set of actions significantly restricts the planning and acting capabilities of LLM agents, and (2) this approach requires substantial human effort to enumerate and implement all possible actions, which becomes impractical in complex environments with a vast number of potential actions. In this work, we propose an LLM agent framework that enables the dynamic creation and composition of actions in an online manner. In this framework, the agent interacts with the environment by generating and executing programs written in a general-purpose programming language at each step. Furthermore, generated actions are accumulated over time for future reuse. Our extensive experiments on the GAIA benchmark demonstrate that this framework offers significantly greater flexibility and outperforms previous methods. Notably, it allows an LLM agent to recover in scenarios where no relevant action exists in the predefined set or when existing actions fail due to unforeseen edge cases. At the time of writing, we hold the top position on the GAIA public leaderboard. In this letter, we investigate the security of fluid antenna system (FAS)-reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) communication systems. The base station (BS) employs a single fixed-position antenna, while both the legitimate receiver and the eavesdropper are equipped with fluid antennas. By utilizing the block-correlation model and the central limit theorem (CLT), we derive approximate expressions for the average secrecy capacity and secrecy outage probability (SOP). Our analysis, validated by simulation results, demonstrates the effectiveness of the block-correlation model in accurately assessing the security performance. Moreover, simulation results reveal that FAS-RIS system significantly outperforms other systems in terms of security, further underscoring its potential in secure communication applications.

In this paper, we pave the way to six-generation (6G) by investigating the outage probability (OP) of fluid antenna system (FAS)-active reconfigurable intelligent surface (ARIS) communication systems. We consider a FAS-ARIS setup consisting of a base station (BS) with a single fixed-position antenna and a receiver equipped with a fluid antenna (FA). Utilizing the block-correlation model, we derive a closed-form expression for the OP. Our analysis, supported by numerical results, confirms the accuracy and effectiveness of the derivation. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that the FAS-ARIS system significantly outperforms other configurations in terms of OP, highlighting its potential to enhance communication performance and reliability in future 6G networks.

We demonstrate the efficacy of using intermediate representations from a single foundation model to enhance various music downstream tasks. We introduce SoniDo, a music foundation model (MFM) designed to extract hierarchical features from target music samples. By leveraging hierarchical intermediate features, SoniDo constrains the information granularity, leading to improved performance across various downstream tasks including both understanding and generative tasks. We specifically evaluated this approach on representative tasks such as music tagging, music transcription, music source separation, and music mixing. Our results reveal that the features extracted from foundation models provide valuable enhancements in training downstream task models. This highlights the capability of using features extracted from music foundation models as a booster for downstream tasks. Our approach not only benefits existing task-specific models but also supports music downstream tasks constrained by data scarcity. This paves the way for more effective and accessible music processing solutions., Comment: 41 pages with 14 figures

Robotic manipulation of volumetric elastoplastic deformable materials, from foods such as dough to construction materials like clay, is in its infancy, largely due to the difficulty of modelling and perception in a high-dimensional space. Simulating the dynamics of such materials is computationally expensive. It tends to suffer from inaccurately estimated physics parameters of the materials and the environment, impeding high-precision manipulation. Estimating such parameters from raw point clouds captured by optical cameras suffers further from heavy occlusions. To address this challenge, this work introduces a novel Differentiable Physics-based System Identification (DPSI) framework that enables a robot arm to infer the physics parameters of elastoplastic materials and the environment using simple manipulation motions and incomplete 3D point clouds, aligning the simulation with the real world. Extensive experiments show that with only a single real-world interaction, the estimated parameters, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, yield stress and friction coefficients, can accurately simulate visually and physically realistic deformation behaviours induced by unseen and long-horizon manipulation motions. Additionally, the DPSI framework inherently provides physically intuitive interpretations for the parameters in contrast to black-box approaches such as deep neural networks., Comment: Underreivew on the Internation Journal of Robotics Research

High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
We measure the time-integrated CP asymmetry in $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}$ decays reconstructed in $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow c\overline{c}$ events collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments. The corresponding data samples have integrated luminosities of 980 fb$^{-1}$ and 428 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The $D^{0}$ decays are required to originate from the $D^{*+} \rightarrow D^{0}\pi^{+}$ decay, which determines the charm flavor at production time. A control sample of $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ decays is used to correct for production and detection asymmetries. The result, $(-1.4\pm1.3{\rm(stat)}\pm0.1{\rm (syst)})\%$, is consistent with previous determinations and with CP symmetry., Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2410.22961

As generative AI (GenAI) increasingly permeates design workflows, its impact on design outcomes and designers' creative capabilities warrants investigation. We conducted a within-subjects experiment where we asked participants to design advertisements both with and without GenAI support. Our results show that expert evaluators rated GenAI-supported designs as more creative and unconventional ("weird") despite no significant differences in visual appeal, brand alignment, or usefulness, which highlights the decoupling of novelty from usefulness-traditional dual components of creativity-in the context of GenAI usage. Moreover, while GenAI does not significantly enhance designers' overall creative thinking abilities, users were affected differently based on native language and prior AI exposure. Native English speakers experienced reduced relaxation when using AI, whereas designers new to GenAI exhibited gains in divergent thinking, such as idea fluency and flexibility. These findings underscore the variable impact of GenAI on different user groups, suggesting the potential for customized AI tools.

How could LLMs influence our democracy? We investigate LLMs' political leanings and the potential influence of LLMs on voters by conducting multiple experiments in a U.S. presidential election context. Through a voting simulation, we first demonstrate 18 open- and closed-weight LLMs' political preference for a Democratic nominee over a Republican nominee. We show how this leaning towards the Democratic nominee becomes more pronounced in instruction-tuned models compared to their base versions by analyzing their responses to candidate-policy related questions. We further explore the potential impact of LLMs on voter choice by conducting an experiment with 935 U.S. registered voters. During the experiments, participants interacted with LLMs (Claude-3, Llama-3, and GPT-4) over five exchanges. The experiment results show a shift in voter choices towards the Democratic nominee following LLM interaction, widening the voting margin from 0.7% to 4.6%, even though LLMs were not asked to persuade users to support the Democratic nominee during the discourse. This effect is larger than many previous studies on the persuasiveness of political campaigns, which have shown minimal effects in presidential elections. Many users also expressed a desire for further political interaction with LLMs. Which aspects of LLM interactions drove these shifts in voter choice requires further study. Lastly, we explore how a safety method can make LLMs more politically neutral, while raising the question of whether such neutrality is truly the path forward., Comment: EMNLP 2024 Main

Bayesian reasoning in linear mixed-effects models (LMMs) is challenging and often requires advanced sampling techniques like Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). A common approach is to write the model in a probabilistic programming language and then sample via Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC). However, there are many ways a user can transform a model that make inference more or less efficient. In particular, marginalizing some variables can greatly improve inference but is difficult for users to do manually. We develop an algorithm to easily marginalize random effects in LMMs. A naive approach introduces cubic time operations within an inference algorithm like HMC, but we reduce the running time to linear using fast linear algebra techniques. We show that marginalization is always beneficial when applicable and highlight improvements in various models, especially ones from cognitive sciences., Comment: 38th Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS 2024)

Autonomous agents have become increasingly important for interacting with the real world. Android agents, in particular, have been recently a frequently-mentioned interaction method. However, existing studies for training and evaluating Android agents lack systematic research on both open-source and closed-source models. In this work, we propose AndroidLab as a systematic Android agent framework. It includes an operation environment with different modalities, action space, and a reproducible benchmark. It supports both large language models (LLMs) and multimodal models (LMMs) in the same action space. AndroidLab benchmark includes predefined Android virtual devices and 138 tasks across nine apps built on these devices. By using the AndroidLab environment, we develop an Android Instruction dataset and train six open-source LLMs and LMMs, lifting the average success rates from 4.59% to 21.50% for LLMs and from 1.93% to 13.28% for LMMs. AndroidLab is open-sourced and publicly available at https://github.com/THUDM/Android-Lab.

Parkinson's disease (PD), a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system, is commonly diagnosed using functional medical imaging techniques such as single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). In this study, we utilized two SPECT data sets (n = 634 and n = 202) from different hospitals to develop a model capable of accurately predicting PD stages, a multiclass classification task. We used the entire three-dimensional (3D) brain images as input and experimented with various model architectures. Initially, we treated the 3D images as sequences of two-dimensional (2D) slices and fed them sequentially into 2D convolutional neural network (CNN) models pretrained on ImageNet, averaging the outputs to obtain the final predicted stage. We also applied 3D CNN models pretrained on Kinetics-400. Additionally, we incorporated an attention mechanism to account for the varying importance of different slices in the prediction process. To further enhance model efficacy and robustness, we simultaneously trained the two data sets using weight sharing, a technique known as cotraining. Our results demonstrated that 2D models pretrained on ImageNet outperformed 3D models pretrained on Kinetics-400, and models utilizing the attention mechanism outperformed both 2D and 3D models. The cotraining technique proved effective in improving model performance when the cotraining data sets were sufficiently large., Comment: 34 pages, 7 figures, and 4 tables

Quantum Physics - Abstract
Quantum secret sharing (QSS) plays a pivotal role in multiparty quantum communication, ensuring the secure distribution of private information among multiple parties. However, the security of QSS schemes can be compromised by attacks exploiting imperfections in measurement devices. Here, we propose a reconfigurable approach to implement QSS based on measurement-device-independent (MDI) principles, utilizing linear two-photon Bell state analysis.By employing single-qubit conjugate operations for encoding private information, our approach offers reconfigurability, allowing for the inclusion of additional quantum network nodes without sacrificing efficiency. Furthermore, we demonstrate the robust security of our MDI-QSS scheme against inter-eavesdropping by dishonest participants and establish lower bounds for secure communication among three legitimate parties. This work presents a flexible configuration for implementing multiparty secure quantum communication with imperfect measurement devices and represents a significant advancement in the development of secure quantum communication technologies., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

Utilizing a range of techniques including multi-band light curves, softness ratio analysis, structure functions, rms spectra, cross-correlation functions, and ratios of spectra from different intervals, we present a comprehensive study of the complex X-ray spectral variability in Seyfert 1 galaxy Ark 120, through re-analyzing its six XMM-Newton observations taken between 2003 and 2014. We find a clear ''softer-when-brighter" trend in the 2--10 keV power-law component over long timescales, with this trend being timescale dependent, as it is much weaker on shorter timescales, similar to that previously detected in NGC 4051. Notably, a rare ''harder-when-brighter" trend is observed during one exposure, indicating dynamic changes in the spectral variability behavior of the power-law component. This exceptional exposure, with the spectral variability indeed marked by a power-law pivoting at an unusually low energy of ~ 2 keV, suggests intricate variations in the thermal Comptonization processes within the corona. Furthermore, when the data below 2 keV are included, we identify that the soft excess component adds significant complexity to the spectral variability, such as evidenced by a transition from ''harder-when-brighter'' to ''softer-when-brighter'' during another single exposure. Such extra complexity arises because the variability of the soft excess sometimes follows and sometimes does not follow the changes in the power-law component. Our findings underscore the necessity of applying multiple analytic techniques to fully capture the multifaceted spectral variability of AGNs., Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, submitted.
