This study aims to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of medical biochemistry professionals in Türkiye regarding green and sustainable medical laboratory (GSML) practices. It also seeks to identify the most common and challenging barriers to adopting GSML practices.A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 130 medical biochemistry professionals, including academicians, specialists, and residents, across various hospital types in Türkiye. The survey, distributed via Google Forms, consisted of 29 questions divided into five sections covering participant characteristics, knowledge about GSML, individual attitudes, laboratory practices, and awareness of EFLM guidelines. Data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS.The survey revealed that only 10.8 % of participants received education on sustainability during their specialty training. Despite this, 76.2 % had heard of the concept of sustainability, although 74.6 % were unaware of green chemistry principles. Individual environmental practices were generally positive, with 96 % of participants turning off lights and equipment when not in use. However, significant gaps were found in laboratory GSML practices, particularly in energy (only 44 % of laboratories regularly defrost refrigerators and freezers) and water management (only 40.8 % perform regular maintenance). The most common barriers to GSML implementation were identified as education and awareness (46.2 %), sustainability (24.6 %), cost (15.4 %), motivation (8.5 %), and communication (2.3 %).There is a critical need for enhanced education and awareness of GSML practices. While individual environmental behaviors are positive, systemic changes in laboratory practices are necessary. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence of likely pathogenic or pathogenic variants and assess the diagnostic yield from genetic testing for cardiac arrhythmias in Norway since 2003. Data from 1991 probands and 2782 relatives were retrospectively collected from the laboratory information management system at Unit for Cardiac and Cardiovascular Genetics, Oslo University hospital. Of 1991 probands, 57.4% were females, age at genetic testing was 33.1 (±22.7) years, and 32.5% were under the age of 18. A likely pathogenic or pathogenic variant (including 14 novel) was detected in 15.4% in total. Of the 2782 relatives, 53.7% were females, age at genetic testing was 35.6 (±22.5) years, 27.3% were under the age of 18, and 45.3% carried the family variant. Probands and relatives combined, 1/3356 persons in the Norwegian population were heterozygous for an arrhythmia‐causing variant. The founder variant p.Q530X (NM_000218.2: c.1588C>T) in KCNQ1 accounted for 34% of all variants in Norway. In conclusion, genetic testing provided a genetic basis of the arrhythmia in 15.4% of the probands. Familial cascade screening identified four times as many variant‐positive relatives, allowing early detection and prompt stratification of arrhythmic risk of those variant carriers. Scientists who manage research laboratories often face ethical dilemmas related to conflicts between their different roles, such as researcher, mentor, entrepreneur, and manager. It is not known how often uncertainty about conflicting role obligations leads scientists to engage in unethical conduct, but this probably occurs more often than many people would like to think. In this paper, we reflect on ethical decision-making in scientific laboratory management with special attention to how different roles create conflicting obligations and expectations that may produce moral uncertainty and lead to violations of research norms, especially when combined with self-interest and other factors that increase the risk of misbehavior. The safety management of laboratories is of utmost importance in the construction and management of university laboratories. Abnormal behaviors such as smoking, incorrect wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) like lab coats, hats, masks, and gloves pose significant safety hazards. In this paper, in order to improve the level of laboratory safety management and effectively provide an alert in the case of unsafe behaviors, video analysis technology is employed to achieve abnormal behavior recognition and monitoring through steps such as human key point detection, posture estimation, and behavior recognition. Firstly, the human pose estimation algorithm YOLO is used for human detection, followed by the extraction of human key points after segmentation. Finally, spatiotemporal graph convolution is used for feature detection and classification of abnormal behaviors. The experimental results show that the accuracy of abnormal behavior detection and recognition based on human key points reaches over 85%, which is of great significance for safety management and behavior warning in university laboratories, and thus, improves the efficiency and level of laboratory safety management. This paper delves into the practicalities of daily teaching management within the organic chemistry basic laboratory at Central South University. It presents a series of refined management reforms and their detailed implementations. By incorporating dynamic digital inventory management for chemicals, strategic partitioned placement of instruments, and a process-oriented approach to hazardous waste handling, we establish a standardized, secure, orderly, and convenient experimental teaching environment for both educators and students. Purpose: We analyze the psychological and interpersonal aspects of in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratory operations, highlighting how human factors such as leadership style, emotional intelligence (EI), and team dynamics influence the effectiveness of IVF treatments. We also examine the role of personality dynamics in team functioning and the adverse effects of toxic behaviors on laboratory performance and morale. Pematang Rahim Village Forest is one of the social forestry schemes offered by the government. Pematang Rahim Village Forest Management Institute makes ecotourism as the basis for its management. Ecotourism in peat ecosystems in village forests creates biodiversity inside, especially plants, as the basis for planned ecotourism. The purpose of this research is to obtain data and information about the potential flora to support ecotourism-based village forest management. This study was carried out for 8 months from March to October 2021, located in the Village Forest of Pematang Rahim, East Tanjung Jabung Regency, and further analysis was conducted at the Herbarium and Laboratory of Management, Department of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University. Research results in the field show that peat forests are generally managed as village forests in Pematang rahim in good condition. There are various types of trees and plants in different life forms. The study found 26 families, 58 genera, and 104 species, with a total of 2,831 individuals consisting of 855 seedlings, 880 saplings, 546 poles, and 550 trees. The diversity index showed a high value (> 3) for each growth stage from seedlings, sapling, pole to trees (3.39; 3.56; 3.65; 3.79). The existence of various peat-specific species with ecosystem conditions that are still maintained is expected to add value to ecotourism activities in the Pematang Rahim Village Forest area in the future. [Objective] Laboratory animal centers in colleges and universities are crucial for production, teaching, experimentation, and technical services involving laboratory animals. Biosafety management is an important part of their standardized operation and safety management. The Biosafety Law has highlighted the importance of biosafety and introduced new requirements for managing laboratory animals in universities. Establishing a systematic biosafety risk management framework is essential to prevent public health impacts related to biosafety and ensure effective management and operation. Comprehensive and systematic implementation of biosafety management in university laboratory animal centers is vital for the standardized management of facilities, the health and safety of staff and students, and the advancement of scientific research. [Methods] We evaluated the major biosafety hazards, classified as "internal factors" and "external factors", throughout the whole experimental process. Corresponding solutions were proposed. Considering the complexity of hazards within laboratory animal facilities, we clearly identified the biosafety hazards one by one and summarized them to obtain more effective and distinct measures. [Results] Using the Institute of Laboratory Animal Science of Jinan University as a case study, we explored effective strategies for managing biosafety in animal public service platforms, such as qualified animal experimental design, standardized facility management, strict environmental and animal monitoring, frequently disinfecting facilities, periodic waste disposal, effective pest control, and veterinary supervision. Specifically, they include: 1 Ensuring research projects are reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Jinan University, adhering to the welfare and ethical principles of laboratory animals. 2 Implementing rigorous regulations for material types and delivery methods to maintain sterility. 3 Establishing different entry requirements and admission procedures for various personnel, with comprehensive training for experimental staff. 4 Daily checks of physical parameters of environmental facilities to ensure stable conditions. 5 Following the Biological Safety Law for treating wastewater, exhaust gas, and other waste materials. 6 Using at least two types of disinfectants to ensure effectiveness and prevent drug resistance, with clear guidelines for disinfection scope and methods. 7 Preventing and controlling biological vectors such as mosquitoes, flies, mice, and cockroaches through disinfection and sterilization. 8 Implementing isolation and quarantine, observation and treatment, anatomical sampling, and ensuring animal safety within the facility. When designing a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for a university or inter-university cloud, developers must overcome many complex technical challenges. One of these tasks is estimating the required number of virtualization cluster nodes. Such nodes host virtual machines for users. These virtual machines can be used by students and teachers to complete academic assignments or research work. Another task that arises in the VDI design process is the problem of algorithmizing the placement of virtual machines in a computer network. In this case, optimal placement of virtual machines will reduce the number of computer nodes without affecting functionality. And this, ultimately, helps to reduce the cost of such a solution, which is important for educational institutions. The article proposes a model for estimating the required number of virtualization cluster nodes. The proposed model is based on a combined approach, which involves jointly solving the problem of optimal packaging and finding the configuration of server platforms of a private university cloud using a genetic algorithm. The model introduced in this research is universal. Background: Dual-person inspection in IVF laboratories cannot fully avoid mix-ups or embryo transfer errors, and data transcription or entry is time-consuming and redundant, often leading to delays in completing medical records. Methods: This study introduced a workflow-based RFID tag witnessing and real-time information entry platform for addressing these challenges. To assess its potential in reducing mix-ups, we conducted a simulation experiment in semen preparation to analyze its error correction rate. Additionally, we evaluated its impact on work efficiency, specifically in operation and data entry. Furthermore, we compared the cycle costs between paper labels and RFID tags. Finally, we retrospectively analyzed clinical outcomes of 20,424 oocyte retrieval cycles and 15,785 frozen embryo transfer cycles, which were divided into paper label and RFID tag groups. Results: The study revealed that comparing to paper labels, RFID tag witnessing corrected 100% of tag errors, didn't affect gamete/embryo operations, and notably shorten the time of entering data, but the cycle cost of RFID tags was significantly higher. However, no significant differences were observed in fertilization, embryo quality, blastocyst rates, clinical pregnancy, and live birth rates between two groups. Conclusions: RFID tag witnessing doesn't negatively impact gamete/embryo operation, embryo quality and pregnancy outcomes, but it potentially reduces the risk of mix-ups or errors. Despite highly increased cost, integrating RFID tag witnessing with real-time information entry can remarkably decrease the data entry time, substantially improving the work efficiency. Background: Medical laboratories play crucial roles in healthcare, and effective enterprise risk management (ERM) is necessary to ensure business continuity, patient safety, and quality of care. In medical laboratories, ERM is important for enhancing patient safety, regulatory compliance and accreditation, quality management, business continuity, and cyber security. By following ERM principles and approaches, the medical laboratories can proactively manage their risks, improve patient safety, and maintain a high level of quality and reliability of outcomes. However, implementing ERM in medical laboratories faces unique challenges. This study explored the specific challenges and offers practical solutions for overcoming them to ensure successful ERM implementation in Harare, Zimbabwe. Methodology: A cross‐sectional survey was done through 41 self‐administered questionnaires and interviews with medical laboratory staff from the six main medical laboratories in Harare. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 22. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages. Qualitative data were analyzed using mean scores of Likert scale responses. Results: The main challenges identified in the study included increased workload, staffing, organizational structures, timeliness of information, inadequate information technology support, and insufficient financial support in ERM. These can be addressed by portfolio management of risks, leveraging on cutting edge technology, restructuring to ensure swift responses to issues and redistributing staff workload, and training personnel to avoid burnouts and ensure maximum efficiency. Conclusion: Implementing ERM in medical laboratories requires understanding and addressing these challenges. By following the ERM principles and approaches the medical laboratories can proactively manage their risks, improve patient safety and maintain a high level of quality and reliability of outcomes ERM is still a new approach in the sector and needs further research. Pectinophora gossypiella one of the most destructive pests of Bt cotton. P. gossypiella gradually became a serious threat after gaining resistance to Bt toxin after 2 decade owing to which resulted in huge economic losses to the cotton growers. Present investigation was carried in order to study the most favourable temperature of P. gossypiella for its growth and development under various altering temperature regimes (20:30°C, 24:30°C,28:30°C, 20:35°C, 24:35°C, 28:35°C, 20:40°C, 24:40°C and 28:40°C) of Integrated Pest Management Laboratory, Department of Entomology, PAU, Ludhiana during cotton crop season 2022-23. Three models (linear and nonlinear) were used to estimate the relation between temperature and development rate of different instars and stages of P. gossypiella. The results revealed that duration of all larval instars and total larval duration were significantly short at an alternating temperature of 28:40°C. The pupal duration, adult longevity and total developmental period of male and female were recorded significantly low at the alternate temperature of 28:40°C. The fecundity and survivability (egg, larval and pupal)was significantly highest at 28:30°C, whereas the larval and pupal weights were significantly highest at an alternate temperature of 28:35°C. The correlation between developmental parameters and fecundity showed significant negative correlation. The survival of egg, larva and pupa showed non-significant negative correlation, whereas the larval and pupal weights show non-significant positive correlation with alternate temperatures. Stinner nonlinear and Inverse second order polynomial model provided more suitable temperature conditions for the development of P. gossypiella. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives Complete blood count and differential (CBC diff) is a common laboratory test that may be overused or misordered, particularly in an inpatient setting. We assessed the ability of a clinical decision support (CDS) alert to decrease unnecessary orders for CBC diff and analyzed its impact in the laboratory. Methods We designed 3 CDS alerts to provide guidance to providers ordering CBC diff on inpatients at frequencies of daily, greater than once daily, or as needed. Results The 3 alerts were highly effective in reducing orders for CBC diff at the frequencies targeted by the alert. Overall, test volume for CBC diff decreased by 32% (mean of 5257 tests per month) after implementation of the alerts, with a corresponding decrease of 22% in manual differentials performed (mean of 898 per month). Turnaround time for manual differentials decreased by a mean of 41.5 minutes, with a mean decrease of up to 90 minutes during peak morning hours. Conclusions The 3 CDS alerts successfully decreased inpatient orders for CBC diff and improved the quality of patient care by decreasing turnaround time for manual differentials. Objectives This study aimed to develop a root cause analysis (RCA) model for test overutilization, applying it to transferrin overordering at our institution. Methods A comprehensive review was undertaken to establish a systematic RCA model. Upon implementation, the questionnaire identifying the root causes of transferrin overordering with infographic intervention was distributed to clinicians and nurses. Results The RCA model comprises 5 steps: (1) problem identification, (2) causal factor determination, (3) data collection, (4) significant factor identification, and (5) corrective action development and outcome measurement. The major causes of transferrin overutilization were confusion between transferrin and transferrin saturation, as well as unfamiliarity with the laboratory handbook. An infographic reduced postintervention transferrin ordering among clinicians (84.9%, P <.001) and nurses (46.8%, P <.001). Conclusions This study presents a 5-step RCA model that offers a customized method to identify the causes of test overutilization. Applying this model to transferrin at our institution revealed 22 leading root causes. Protein crystallography is an established method to study the atomic structures of macromolecules and their complexes. A prerequisite for successful structure determination is diffraction‐quality crystals, which may require extensive optimization of both the protein and the conditions, and hence projects can stretch over an extended period, with multiple users being involved. The workflow from crystallization and crystal treatment to deposition and publication is well defined, and therefore an electronic laboratory information management system (LIMS) is well suited to management of the data. Completion of the project requires key information on all the steps being available and this information should also be made available according to the FAIR principles. As crystallized samples are typically shipped between facilities, a key feature to be captured in the LIMS is the exchange of metadata between the crystallization facility of the home laboratory and, for example, synchrotron facilities. On completion, structures are deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and the LIMS can include the PDB code in its database, completing the chain of custody from crystallization to structure deposition and publication. A LIMS designed for macromolecular crystallography, IceBear, is available as a standalone installation and as a hosted service, and the implementation of key features for the capture of metadata in IceBear is discussed as an example. Aim: To describe sodium and potassium intake, their sources and plasma concentrations, and the association between intake and morbidity in very‐low‐birthweight (VLBW, <1500 g) infants during the first week of life. Methods: This retrospective cohort study comprised 951 VLBW infants born at <32 weeks. Infants were divided into three groups according to gestational age: 23–26 (n = 275), 27–29 (n = 433) and 30–31 (n = 243) weeks. Data on fluid management and laboratory findings were acquired from an electronic patient information system. Results: The median sodium intake was highest in the 23–26 week group, peaking at 6.4 mmol/kg/day. A significant proportion of sodium derived from intravascular flushes; it reached 27% on day 1 in the 23–26 week group. High cumulative sodium intake in the first postnatal week was associated with weight gain from birth to day 8 in the 23–26 week group. High intake of sodium associated with an increased risk of surgically ligated patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), bronchopulmonary dysplasia and intraventricular haemorrhage, whereas low intake of potassium associated with an increased risk of PDA. Conclusion: Sodium intake in the most premature infants exceeded recommendations during the first postnatal week. Saline flushes accounted for a significant proportion of the sodium load. The 3Hs Initiative is a concept that arose from the research and management of laboratory mice and rats of Professor Emma Robinson's laboratory at the University of Bristol. Our research is predominantly concerned with the treatment of psychiatric disorders and particularly symptoms of depression and apathy. Due to the nature of our work, it is important that we are confident that the animals we are working with are not being put into a negative affective state by their environment or as an unintended consequence of our interactions with them. Our approach focussed on methods which provide the optimal control populations and ensure we can quantify specific and relevant behavioural changes arising for experimental manipulations. As our research programme evolved, we have become more aware of the impact of stress caused to our animals by routine management approaches and physical restraint during procedures. We have looked at our housing, handling and habituation approaches to identify areas to make improvements. This is critical for our research outputs and has the benefit of reducing the cumulative suffering the animals experience by reducing stress and negative affective experiences associated with their day-to-day lives. Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales are increasingly being recognized in nosocomial infections. The performance of a flow cytometry-based rapid assay for their detection and differentiation was evaluated. This is a disruptive phenotypic technology, phenotypic and growth-independent, that searches for the lesions produced by drugs acting on cells after a short incubation time. Overall, 180 Gram-negative bacteria were studied, and results were compared with those obtained molecularly by PCR and phenotypically by 'KPC, MBL and OXA-48 Confirm Kit'. This phenotypic method was used as reference for comparison purposes. Susceptibility to carbapenems (imipenem, meropenem, and ertapenem) was determined by standard broth microdilution. Overall, 112 isolates (62.2%) were carbapenemase producers, 41 KPCs, 36 MβLs, and 31 OXA-48, and 4 strains were KPC + MβL co-producers. Sixty-eight isolates were carbapenemase-negative. The percentage of agreement, sensitivity, and specificity were calculated according to ISO 20776-2:2021. The FASTinov assay showed 97.7% agreement with the reference method for carbapenemase detection. Discrepant flow cytometry results were obtained in four isolates compared with both reference and PCR results. The sensitivity and specificity of this new technology were 95.3% and 98.5%, respectively, for KPCs, 97.6% and 99.3% for MβLs, and 96.9% and 98% for OXA-48 detection. In conclusion, we describe a rapid flow cytometry assay with high accuracy for carbapenemase detection and the differentiation of various carbapenemases, which should impact clinical microbiology laboratories and patient management. The health industry in Indonesia faces a variety of complex and multidimensional challenges. In the face of fierce competition from hospitals that offer self-contained laboratory services and the development of infrastructure that facilitates access to more well-equipped healthcare facilities, it is important to understand how service quality affects customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study aims to explore the influence of Service Quality on Customer Satisfaction and Customer Loyalty at the X Clinical Laboratory in Pematang Siantar City, as well as to examine the role of customer satisfaction as a mediator. The results show that Service Quality has a significant positive influence on customer satisfaction (coefficient: 0.8825), indicating that an improvement in Service Quality will increase customer satisfaction. Based on these findings, the management of Clinical Laboratory X is advised to implement several strategies to improve service quality, customer satisfaction, and loyalty to remain the top choice. Objectives: The objective of this study was to perform a method comparison between the CellaVision preclassification neutrophil count and the reclassification neutrophil count performed by trained laboratory technicians, and to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the preclassification neutrophil count at clinical decision levels. Methods: We retrospectively identified patient samples through 2019–2022 in which the differential count was performed on Cellavision (n = 4,354). Data on sample characteristics and leukocyte- and differential counts was extracted from the electronic medical journal. For each sample, data containing the pre- and reclassification leukocyte classification, respectively, was extracted from the Cellavision software. Method comparison between the pre-and reclassification neutrophil count was performed using Bland Altman analysis. Diagnostic performance of the preclassification neutrophil count was evaluated according to four pre-specified categories of results with the reclassification as reference method. Results: The median difference between the pre- and reclassification neutrophil count was 0.044 x 109/L. The preclassification neutrophil count categorised 95.6% of all samples correctly according to the four categories. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value for detecting neutrophilia > 7.00 x 109/L was 98.8%, 97.2%, 95.8%, and 99.2%, respectively. In samples with leukopenia (n = 543), the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value for detecting severe neutropenia (< 0.50 x 109/L) was 97.7%, 99.1%, 98.6%, and 98.5%, respectively. Conclusion: The diagnostic performance of the CellaVision preclassification neutrophil count was satisfactory. Background: This paper presents a data-driven strategy for establishing the reportable interval in clinical laboratory testing. The reportable interval defines the range of laboratory result values beyond which reporting should be withheld. The lack of clear guidelines and methodology for determining the reportable interval has led to potential errors in reporting and patient risk. Methods: To address this gap, the study developed an integrated strategy that combines statistical analysis, expert review, and hypothetical outlier calculations. A large data set from an accredited clinical laboratory was utilized, analyzing over 124 million laboratory test records from 916 distinct tests. The Dixon test was applied to identify outliers and establish the highest and lowest non-outlier result values for each test, which were validated by clinical pathology experts. The methodology also included matching the reportable intervals with relevant Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) and Unified Code for Units of Measure (UCUM)-valid units for broader applicability. Results: Upon establishing the reportable interval for 135 routine laboratory tests (493 LOINC codes), we applied these to a primary care laboratory data set of 23 million records, demonstrating their efficacy with over 1% of result records identified as implausible. Conclusions: We developed and tested a data-driven strategy for establishing reportable intervals utilizing large electronic medical record (EMR) data sets. Implementing the established interval in clinical laboratory settings can improve autoverification systems, enhance data reliability, and reduce errors in patient care. A computer laboratory intelligent management and control system based on Internet of Things technology and deep learning is proposed to address the shortcomings of traditional university laboratory management. The system adopts the main embedded technology, mobile communication technology, wireless sensor technology and database storage technology in the Internet of Things technology, laboratory areas and equipment, identify and collect relevant data, monitor abnormal conditions in real time, and alarm. At the same time, the user is provided with a preview of the experimental content and a demonstration of the results through the handheld client APP. The experimental results show that: when the system is powered by 0.35A current, the total system power is about 3W. The NTC thermistor used has a B value of 3435. Under normal temperature, T2 = 298.15K, R = 10KO, R0 = 10KO. The current temperature value can be calculated according to the value obtained after the analog-to-digital conversion of the microcontroller. The output frequency of the humidity detection circuit is measured by the single-chip microcomputer, and the current ambient humidity can be obtained by substituting the result into the above formula, that is, when the output frequency dimension of the circuit is 6853Hz, the ambient humidity is 40%. Through the application of this system, the inefficient and extensive manual management method of the computer experimental teaching center is completely solved, so that it can bring more intelligent and efficient services to the teachers and students of the whole school, so as to comprehensively promote the experimental teaching of the school. In response to the escalating inventory of laboratory equipment, the inadequacy of traditional manual management practices has become increasingly apparent. Current management challenges are underscored by historical data, which reveals a borrowing rate of approximately 30%, a concerning return rate of only about 5%, and an equipment loss rate of 10%. To address these inefficiencies, this paper introduces an advanced, intelligent laboratory equipment management system leveraging STM32 and GM65 technologies, designed to significantly enhance the return rate and minimize equipment loss. The system is meticulously engineered, featuring three integral modules: the scanning module, the core board module, and the communication module. The scanning module employs GM65 technology to rapidly scan and decode QR codes, facilitating the swift transmission of critical data to the core board for intelligent processing and interaction with the laboratory equipment. At the heart of the system, the core board module serves as the central processing unit, adeptly managing data from the scanning module. It intelligently discerns various information types and dynamically updates the TFT-LCD screen with the current status of equipment, ensuring that all users have access to real-time and accurate information regarding the borrowing and returning of equipment. The communication module is pivotal in bolstering the system's connectivity capabilities. Designed with a robust structure, the system is characterized by its simplicity of operation and robust practicality. BACKGROUND: The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is a significant threat to crop production. Alternatives to synthetic pesticides are needed for its management. Here we investigated the effect of sulphur on H. halys. Experiments were performed to evaluate both mortality and deterrence/repellence of H. halys following sulphur treatments in laboratory and semi‐field conditions. RESULTS: Brown marmorated stink bug mortality was not influenced by sulphur applications. However, in two‐choice experiments in insect cages and olfactometer, more H. halys adults moved toward the untreated control rather than the sulphur‐treated food sources, with a high effect as the concentration increased. A semi‐field experiment using potted apple plants confirmed the results observed in the laboratory, showing a deterrent and/or repellent effect of sulphur‐based products on H. halys. CONCLUSIONS: Sulphur applications were associated with a deterrent/repellent effect on the brown marmorated stink bug. The use of sulphur‐based products could represent a promising tool for Integrated Pest Management strategies against H. halys in fruit crops. © 2024 The Authors. Laboratory chemical synthesis research typically lacks the preplanned hazard responses found in production-scale industrial laboratories. Chemical safety management is a known challenge in education-based facilities, which is concerning for academic and national laboratory environments working with inexperienced student researchers. At the Molecular Foundry, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) user facility, a chemical safety management form has been developed that follows DOE’s Integrated Safety Management (ISM) process, which evaluates the risks and hazards associated with all forms of work. An ISM form for chemical synthesis is described here in detail. It is regularly used to guide chemical safety discussions between researchers and supervisors, to plan accident responses, and to establish triggers, at which point a reevaluation of the work is needed. The form makes it straightforward to know what limits researchers may work within and makes it clear which procedure changes will require a new safety assessment and discussion before work continues. The ISM form for synthesis is being successfully used in three fields of chemistry: Inorganic, Organic, and Biological. The form has also been adapted for liquid sample preparation in electron microscopy. Upper management, supervisors, students, and general users are engaged in this process. It is hoped that sharing this knowledge will enable educational institutions and other laboratories to develop similar methods to help researchers and supervisors understand the hazards as well as the working limits of any protocol, helping researchers to work more independently and safely within the laboratory.

Background: Molecular diagnostic technology is the foundation of precision medicine, which has the advantages of good specificity, high sensitivity, strong targeting, rapiddiagnosis, etc. It has a wide range of applications in the field of pediatrics. However, molecular diagnostic technology is characterized by complicated experimental operation, high difficulty in data analysis and interpretation, in consistent standards among laboratories, and difficult standardization of technical processes. Enhancing the application value of molecular diagnostic technology in pediatrics and promoting the high‐quality development of the discipline requires careful consideration by relevant management and professionals. Methods: This study firstly outlines the development history of molecular diagnostic technology. Then, it analyzes the application of molecular diagnostic technology in the field of pediatrics. Finally, it explores the countermeasures for the management of molecular diagnostic laboratories. Results: This study highlights the importance of molecular diagnostic technology in providing information and decision‐making basis for disease prevention, prediction,diagnosis, treatment and regression. It has a wide range of applications in the molecular diagnosis of pediatric hereditary diseases, malignant tumors and infectious diseases. In addition, the countermeasures for the management of molecular diagnostic laboratories are proposed from the five aspects of laboratory, personnel team construction, standardized management,multidisciplinary cross‐discipline, research and translation, safety managementand ethical supervision, and management upgrading and modernization. Conclusions: Molecular diagnostic technology, as the basis of precision medicine, has become one of the important frontier fields in the development of contemporary pediatric medicine.
