A recombinant-expression cassette is constructed for the gene MOCS1 which via alternative splicing, facilitates the expression of the proteins MOCS1A and MOCS1B, both of which are necessary for the formation of a first intermediate, cyclic pyranopterin monophosphate within the biosynthetic pathway leading to active molybdenum cofactor (MoCo). A recombinant adeno-associated virus vector is used to express the artificial MOCS1 minigene to cure the lethal MOCS1-deficient phenotype.

GaP:N green light emitting diodes were studied by measuring the light output versus current and by analyzing the electroluminescence spectra and deep level transient spectra. The decrease in electroluminescence efficiency was found to be caused by the new deep level established by recombination enhanced reaction from the electron trap. The results were further due that the nitrogen pair in the phosphorus site with silicon within the vicinity of gallium's location.

Hartree–Fock ab initio Raman spectra calculations and Raman spectroscopic measurements were carried out on amorphous selenium in order to identify the characteristic vibrational mode due to sigma bonds. Variations in measured peak intensity were observed as a consequence of band gap light illumination. Atomic scale computer simulations on structures and photoinduced volume changes of flatly and obliquely deposited amorphous selenium (a-Se) films have been carried out in order to understand how the properties of chalcogenide glasses are influenced by their preparation method. Obliquely deposited a-Se thin films contain more coordination defects and larger voids than the flatly deposited ones. To model the photoinduced volume changes the electron excitation and hole creation were treated independently within the framework of tight-binding formalism. Covalent and interchain bond breakings and formations were found. The obliquely deposited samples containing voids showed a wide spectrum of photoinduced structural changes in the microscopic level and volume changes in the macroscopic level. Using the recently discovered time-dependent spin-orbit-photon interaction operator and first order perturbation theory, the rate of spontaneous emission from triplet excitations is derived within the two-level approximation for organic molecular solids and conjugated polymers. The calculated rates and corresponding radiative lifetimes agree very well with the known experimental results. Present results are compared with those obtained through the traditional approach of the second order perturbation theory in some molecular crystals and found to be in better agreement with experiments.
