Bulk γ‐InSe has a direct bandgap of 1.24 eV, which corresponds to near infrared wavelengths (λ = 1.0 µm) useful in optoelectronic applications from biometric detectors to silicon photonics. However, its potential for optoelectronic applications is largely untapped due in part to the lack of quantitative studies of its optical properties. Here, the unusually low absorptance and high photoluminescence quantum efficiency of single‐crystalline InSe flakes with thickness in the hundreds of nanometers are studied. InSe emits brightly at room temperature from its direct bandgap with a peak photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 20%, despite displaying indirect bandgap like low absorption coefficient due to the symmetry of its crystal structure. By performing pump‐dependent PLQY measurements, the radiative and nonradiative recombination coefficients are extracted, including the Shockley‐Read‐Hall and Auger coefficients. Finally, a proof‐of‐concept alternating current electroluminescent device at low temperature is demonstrated to show the promise of InSe in optoelectronic technology such as highly transparent, bright NIR light sources. High contact resistance has been a bottleneck in developing high-performance transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) based p -type transistors. We report degenerately doped few-layer WSe 2 transistors with contact resistance as low as 0.23 ± 0.07 kΩ·μm per contact by using platinum(IV) chloride (PtCl 4 ) as the p -type dopant, which is composed of ions compatible with the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication process. Top-gated devices with a gate length of 200 nm showed good switching behaviors, implying that the dopant diffusion into the gate stack is not significant. The devices showed nearly identical performance after being kept in air for 86 days without any encapsulation while retaining the degenerately doped states at 78 K with pressure lower than 10 -5 Torr, highlighting the stability of the dopants. The presented method sets forth the availability of highly stable methods for pattern doping the transistors with a thinned Schottky barrier width for low contact resistance devices.

Advances in bibliometrics and co-citation analysis provide the opportunity to analyze quantitatively the large amount of nursing research used in evidence-based nursing. Numerous nursing researchers have attempted to obtain evidence that using evidence-based nursing improves the quality of nursing practices. However, little is known about how these efforts comply with the rigorous methods required for a systematic review in a subject area. This study explored the comprehensiveness of systematic reviews in four guidelines for preventing inpatient falls using bibliometrics and a co-citation network technique. Citations (n = 659) and 9417 unique bibliographic records written by 6537 authors were collected from the guidelines in January 2020. The results showed none of the references spanned all four authoring bodies, whereas only 0.1% and 4.7% of the references spanned three and two of the authoring bodies, respectively. The co-citation analysis revealed differences in the scope and primary concerns among the development groups, even in the same setting, with differences in the highly influential articles and authors. These findings imply that although the systematic reviews of guidelines on fall prevention were of good quality, there remain areas for improvement in terms of harmonizing the selection of bibliographic citations comprehensively., (Copyright © 2021 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. The major challenges related to the activity, stability, and cost of electrocatalysts are being increasingly raised to achieve highly efficient and cost-effective hydrogen generation. Herein, multiphase nanocomposites of W 2 C@WC 1-x encapsulated within graphitic carbon layers were prepared via a facile and effective process of electrical explosion of wires and subsequent heat treatment to serve as a highly active and stable electrocatalyst without any noble metal for hydrogen generation. The single-phase comprising less than 15 nm WC 1-x nanoparticles embedded in a lump of amorphous carbon were successfully synthesized via the EEW process in oleic acid used as a carbon source at room temperature. Subsequent heat treatment facilitates the desired phase transition of WC 1-x to W 2 C without the formation of any secondary phases, maintaining the initial particle size and simultaneously eliminating excess amorphous carbon adhered to the nanoparticles. The few graphitic carbon layer-encapsulated nanoparticles with the main W 2 C phase prepared by this simple method exhibit high efficiency for hydrogen generation with a low overpotential of 240 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm -2 and a low Tafel slope of 86 mV dec -1 . Moreover, the overpotential is well maintained at a constantly injected current density of 10 mA cm -2 for 100 h with a low η 100 /η i value of 1.03 (η i : initial overpotential, η 100 : overpotential after 100 h), demonstrating superior catalytic stability in acidic media. This work proposes and evaluates a facile strategy for the synthesis of highly efficient electrocatalysts based on metal carbides without noble metals.

Objective: Risk factors for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) include older age, female sex, alcohol consumption, and a history of motion sickness. Although gastrointestinal symptoms are found to be related with sleep and mood in other conditions, little is known about their effects on CINV., Methods: This prospective observational study recruited patients with early-stage breast cancer who had recovered from surgery before receiving a first cycle of anthracycline and cyclophosphamide-based chemotherapy. Candidate factors associated with CINV were assessed before chemotherapy by using the following: the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Insomnia Severity Index, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Chemotherapy-induced nausea (CIN) and chemotherapy-induced vomiting (CIV) were defined according to a numeric rating scale (0-10) as follows: ≥3, nausea; ≥1, vomiting., Results: Between February 2012 and May 2014, data were collected from 198 patients. Chemotherapy-induced nausea occurred in 35.4% of patients, and CIV occurred in 31.3%. Chemotherapy-induced nausea was significantly associated with poor sleep quality (odds ratio [OR], 2.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.13-5.46; p = 0.024) and pretreatment nausea (OR, 4.81; 95% CI, 1.84-12.62; p = 0.001). Likewise, CIV was significantly associated with poor sleep quality (OR, 2.64; 95% CI, 1.21-5.78; p = 0.015) and pretreatment nausea (OR, 3.07; 95% CI, 1.23-7.66; p = 0.016)., Conclusions: Poor sleep quality increases risk of CINV in patients with breast cancer. Sleep problems should be assessed and considered in the management of CINV.

Purpose: Although epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) -mutated adenocarcinomas initially have high response rates to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), most patients eventually develop resistance. Patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) are considered preferred preclinical models to study the biology of patient tumors. EGFR-mutant PDX models may be valuable tools to study the biology of these tumors and to elucidate mechanisms of resistance to EGFR-targeted therapies., Methods: Surgically resected early-stage non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) tumors were implanted into nonobese diabetic severe combined immune deficient (NOD-SCID) mice. EGFR TKI treatment was initiated at tumor volumes of 150 μL. Gene expression analysis was performed using a microarray platform., Results: Of 33 lung adenocarcinomas with EGFR activating mutations, only 6 (18%) engrafted and could be propagated beyond passage one. Engraftment was associated with upregulation of genes involved in mitotic checkpoint and cell proliferation. A differentially expressed gene set between engrafting and nonengrafting patients could identify patients harboring EGFR-mutant tumor with significantly different prognoses in The Cancer Genome Atlas Lung Adenocarcinoma datasets. The PDXs included models with variable sensitivity to first- and second-generation EGFR TKIs and the monoclonal antibody cetuximab. All EGFR-mutant NSCLC PDXs studied closely recapitulated their corresponding patient tumor phenotype and clinical course, including response pattern to EGFR TKIs., Conclusion: PDX models closely recapitulate primary tumor biology and clinical outcome.
