The book of Risalatul Falakiyah is the work of KH. Misbachul Munir has a unique side compared to the Gregorian Calendar in general. This uniqueness is seen at the start of the calculation of the day and the market, namely Tuesday Pahing, while the count generally starts on Sunday Legi. This article aims to analyze the total of the Gregorian Calendar based on the book of Risalatul Falakiyah based on Karl Poper's falsification theory and analyze the accuracy of the comparison between the concept of calculating the Gregorian Calendar of the book of Risalatul Falakiyah using contemporary calculations based on technology. This research uses library research by conducting qualitative-descriptive analysis of data collected through documentation and interviews. The results showed: First, based on Karl Popper's falsification theory that the Gregorian calendar calculation theory of the book of Risalatul Falakiyah by K.H Misbachul Munir was proven by its correctness by comparing and testing its calculations with the standard formula of science obtained the same results. Second, based on the comparison and testing of technology-based calendar masehi calculations with mawaqit, it was found that the calendar calculation results from the book of Risalatul Falakiyah had the same accuracy as the calculation of mawaqit software.

Abstract Background Bronchiectasis is a widely prevalent airway disease characterized by airway dilatation and recurrent infections, that can lead to respiratory failure in severe cases. The etiology of bronchiectasis varies geographically, but there is a lack of published data examining its etiology specifically within the Middle Eastern population. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of our bronchiectasis patient registry, extracting clinical and demographic characteristics from electronic medical records. Quantitative variables were presented as the median and interquartile range (IQR), while categorical variables were expressed as numbers and percentages. Statistical comparisons for continuous characteristics were performed using the t-test, and significance was determined by a p-value less than 0.05. Results In total we analysed 260 records (63% female, 37% male), with median age of 58 years (interquartile range (IQR) 38–71), Body Mass Index (BMI) 25.8(IQR 22–30), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) %predicted 65 (IQR 43–79) and FEV1/forced vital capacity (FVC) 0.76 (0.67–0.86). Sixty-five cases (25%) were post-infectious in aetiology (excluding post-TB – n:27 10.4%). Forty-eight (18.5%) patients were labelled idiopathic, while Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) accounted for 23 (8.8%) cases. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most common colonizing organism (32.7%), followed by Haemophilus influenzae (9.2%) and Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus(6.9%). At the time of review, 11 patients had died (median age, FEV %predicted, and bronchiectasis severity index (BSI) 59 years, 38% and 15.5 respectively), all due to respiratory failure, and as expected, all were classed severe on BSI. The BSI score was available for 109 patients, of which 31(28%) were classed mild, 29(27%) were moderate, and 49 (45%) were classed severe. The median BSI score was 8 (IQR 4–11). Coronary artery disease (CAD), the most common manifestation of cardiovascular disease, remains the most common cause of mortality in the United States. Risk assessment is key for primary prevention of coronary events and coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring using computed tomography (CT) is one such non-invasive tool. Despite the proven clinical value of CAC, the current clinical practice implementation for CAC has limitations such as the lack of insurance coverage for the test, need for capital-intensive CT machines, specialized imaging protocols, and accredited 3D imaging labs for analysis (including personnel and software). Perhaps the greatest gap is the millions of patients who undergo routine chest CT exams and demonstrate coronary artery calcification, but their presence is not often reported or quantitation is not feasible. We present two deep learning models that automate CAC scoring demonstrating advantages in automated scoring for both dedicated gated coronary CT exams and routine non-gated chest CTs performed for other reasons to allow opportunistic screening. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a monogenetic disease caused by an impairment of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). CF affects multiple organs and is associated with acute and chronic inflammation. In 2020, Elexacaftor–Tezacaftor–Ivacaftor (ETI) was approved to enhance and restore the remaining CFTR functionality. This study investigates cellular innate immunity, with a focus on neutrophil activation and phenotype, comparing healthy volunteers with patients with CF before (T1, n = 13) and after six months (T2, n = 11) of ETI treatment. ETI treatment reduced sweat chloride (T1: 95 mmol/l (83|108) vs. T2: 32 mmol/l (25|62), p < 0.01, median, first|third quartile) and significantly improved pulmonal function (FEV1 T1: 2.66 l (1.92|3.04) vs. T2: 3.69 l (3.00|4.03), p < 0.01). Moreover, there was a significant decrease in the biomarker human epididymis protein 4 (T1: 6.2 ng/ml (4.6|6.3) vs. T2: 3.0 ng/ml (2.2|3.7), p < 0.01) and a small but significant decrease in matrix metallopeptidase 9 (T1: 45.5 ng/ml (32.5|140.1) vs. T2: 28.2 ng/ml (18.2|33.6), p < 0.05). Neutrophil phenotype (CD10, CD11b, CD62L, and CD66b) and function (radical oxygen species generation, chemotactic and phagocytic activity) remained largely unaffected by ETI treatment. Likewise, monocyte phenotype and markers of platelet activation were similar at T1 and T2. In summary, the present study confirmed a positive impact on patients with CF after ETI treatment. However, neither beneficial nor harmful effects of ETI treatment on cellular innate immunity could be detected, possibly due to the study population consisting of patients with well-controlled CF.

Designing scaffolds to fit with essential requirements for wound dressings is still a challenge. A material with high antibacterial activity and biocompatibility is targeted. In this case, the electrospinning technique is used to fabricate a nanofiber scaffold of polylactic acid (PLA) embedded with ginger and/or molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) and cupric oxide (CuO). The nanofiber scaffolds were examined using SEM, TEM, Raman, XRD, FTIR, and EDX. In addition, the surface topography of the nanofiber scaffold of MoO3/ginger@PLA showed that the nanofiber diameters differ from 0.085 to 0.34 µm. Furthermore, the contact angle of the water drop on the surface of the pure PLA and MoO3/CuO/GO/ginger@PLA is remarkably changed from 32.3° to 18.9°. Moreover, the cell viability test of the composition MoO3/CuO/GO/ginger@PLA is above the IC50 at all concentrations. Meanwhile, the antibacterial test exhibited antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus for the scaffolds, with an inhibition zone of 23 ± 0.816 mm and 16.33 ± 0.942 mm for MoO3/CuO/ginger@PLA and 20.3 ± 0.471 mm and 15.33 ± 0.943 mm for MoO3/CuO/GO/ginger@PLA. The obtained results are appropriate to aid the cells to grow and proliferate. As a result of that, the fabricated scaffolds could be utilized in biomedical applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The cellular and fluid phase-innate immune responses of many diseases predominantly involve activated neutrophil granulocytes and complement factors. However, a comparative systematic analysis of the early impact of key soluble complement cleavage products, including anaphylatoxins, on neutrophil granulocyte function is lacking. Neutrophil activity was monitored by flow cytometry regarding cellular (electro-)physiology, cellular activity, and changes in the surface expression of activation markers. The study revealed no major effects induced by C3a or C4a on neutrophil functions. By contrast, exposure to C5a or C5a des-Arg stimulated neutrophil activity as reflected in changes in membrane potential, intracellular pH, glucose uptake, and cellular size. Similarly, C5a and C5a des-Arg but no other monitored complement cleavage product enhanced phagocytosis and reactive oxygen species generation. C5a and C5a des-Arg also altered the neutrophil surface expression of several complement receptors and neutrophil activation markers, including C5aR1, CD62L, CD10, and CD11b, among others. In addition, a detailed characterization of the C5a-induced effects was performed with a time resolution of seconds. The multiparametric response of neutrophils was further analyzed by a principal component analysis, revealing CD11b, CD10, and CD16 to be key surrogates of the C5a-induced effects. Overall, we provide a comprehensive insight into the very early interactions of neutrophil granulocytes with activated complement split products and the resulting neutrophil activity. The results provide a basis for a better and, importantly, time-resolved and multiparametric understanding of neutrophil-related (patho-)physiologies.
