Background This study aimed to systematically review and meta-analyze the available literature on the association between preterm infant bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and pre-adulthood asthma. Methods Studies examining the association between BPD and asthma in children and adolescents were systematically reviewed, and a meta-analysis was conducted. We searched Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, PubMed, and Cochrane Library from the database inception to March 26, 2022. The pooled odds ratio (OR) estimate was used in our meta-analysis to calculate the correlation between BPD and the probability of developing asthma before adulthood. Stata 12.0 was used to conduct the statistical analysis. Results The correlation between asthma and BPD in preterm newborns was examined in nine studies. We used a random effect model to pool the OR estimate. Our results indicated a marked increase in the risk of subsequent asthma in preterm infants with BPD [OR = 1.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.43–2.09]. Moreover, there was no obvious heterogeneity across the studies (P = 0.617, I2 = 0%). The pooled OR remained stable and ranged from 1.65 (95% CI = 1.35–2.01) to 1.78 (95% CI = 1.43–2.21). Regarding publication bias, the funnel plot for asthma risk did not reveal any noticeable asymmetry. We further performed Begg’s and Egger’s tests to quantitatively evaluate publication bias. There was no evidence of a publication bias for asthma risk (P > |Z| = 0.602 for Begg’s test, and P > |t| = 0.991 for Egger’s test). Conclusions Our findings indicate that preterm infants with BPD have a much higher risk of developing asthma in the future (OR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.43–2.09). Preterm infants with BPD may benefit from long-term follow-up.

Purpose:We previously reported the oncogenic role of paired-like homeodomain 2 (PITX2) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, we aimed to identify the miRNA regulators of PITX2 and the mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of ESCC.Experimental Design:Using miRNA profiling and bioinformatics analyses, we identified miR-644a as a negative mediator of PITX2 in ESCC. A series of in vivo and in vitro assays were performed to confirm the effect of miR-644a on PITX2-mediated ESCC malignancy.Results:ESCC cells and tissues expressed less miR-644a than normal epithelial controls. In patient samples, lower expression of miR-644a in ESCC tissues was significantly correlated with tumor recurrence and/or metastasis, such that miR-644a, PITX2, and the combination of the two were independent prognostic indicators for ESCC patient's survival (P < 0.05). Gain- and loss-of-function studies demonstrated that miR-644a inhibited ESCC cell growth, migration, and invasion in vitro and suppressed tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. In addition, miR-644a dramatically suppressed self-renewal and stem cell–like traits in ESCC cells. Furthermore, the effect of upregulation of miR-644a was similar to that of PITX2 knockdown in ESCC cells. Mechanistic studies revealed that miR-644a attenuates ESCC cells' malignancy and stem cell–associated phenotype, at least partially, by inactivation of the Akt/GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway through PITX2. Furthermore, promoter hypermethylation caused downregulation of miR-644a in ESCC.Conclusions:Downregulation of miR-644a plays an important role in promoting both aggressiveness and stem-like traits of ESCC cells, suggesting that miR-644a may be useful as a novel prognostic biomarker or therapeutic target for the disease. MiR-644a inhibits the stemness of Eca-109 cells by regulating PITX2 expression. Although robotic segmentectomy has been applied for the treatment of small pulmonary lesions for many years, studies on the learning curve of robotic segmentectomy are quite limited. Thus, we aim to investigate the learning curve of robotic portal segmentectomy with 4 arms (RPS-4) using prospectively collected data in patients with small pulmonary lesions. One hundred consecutive patients with small pulmonary lesions who underwent RPS-4 between June 2018 and April 2021 were included in the study. Da Vinci Si/Xi systems were used to perform RPS-4. The mean operative time, console time, and docking time for the entire cohort were 119.2 ± 41.6, 85.0 ± 39.6, and 6.6 ± 2.8 minutes, respectively. The learning curve of RPS-4 can be divided into three different phases: 1–37 cases (learning phase), 38–78 cases (plateau phase), and > 78 cases (mastery phase). This study aims to explore the effect of Jinzhen Oral Liquid(JOL) on cough after infection in rats and the mechanism. To be specific, a total of 60 male SD rats were classified into 6 groups: normal group(equivalent volume of distilled water, ig), model group(equivalent volume of distilled water, ig), Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide Oral Solution group(3.67 mL·kg~(-1), ig), high-, medium-, and low-dose JOL groups(11.34, 5.67, and 2.84 mL·kg~(-1), respectively, ig). Lipopolysaccharide(LPS, nasal drip), smoking, and capsaicin(nebulization) were employed to induce cough after infection in rats except the normal group. Administration began on the 19 th day and lasted 7 days. Capsaicin(nebulization) was used to stimulate cough 1 h after the last administration and the cough frequency and cough incubation period in rats were recorded. The pathological morphology of lung tissue was observed based on hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. Immunohistochemistry(IHC) was used to detect the specific expression of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1(Trpv1), nerve growth factor(NGF), tropomyosin receptor kinase A(TrkA), and phosphorylated-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p-p38 MAPK) in lung tissue, Western blot the protein expression of Trpv1, NGF, TrkA, and p-p38 MAPK in lung tissue, and real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction(real-time PCR) the mRNA expression of Trpv1, NGF, and TrkA. The results showed that model group demonstrated significantly high cough frequency, obvious proliferation and inflammatory cell infiltration in lung tissue, significantly enhanced positive protein expression of Trpv1, NGF, TrkA, and p-p38 MAPK in lung tissue and significant increase in the mRNA expression of Trpv1, NGF, and TrkA compared with the normal group. Compared with the model group, JOL can significantly reduce the cough frequency, alleviate the pathological changes of lung tissue, and decrease the protein expression of Trpv1, NGF, TrkA, and p-p38 MAPK in lung tissue, and high-dose and medium-dose JOL can significantly lower the mRNA expression of Trpv1, NGF, and TrkA. This study revealed that JOL can effectively inhibit Trpv1 pathway-related proteins and improve cough after infection. The mechanism is that it reduces the expression of NGF, TrkA, and p-p38 MAPK in lung tissue, thereby decreasing the expression of Trpv1 and cough sensitivity.

This study determined the extraction rates of indirubin in Indigo Naturalis by ethanol reflux extraction method and water extraction method. The pharmacodynamic study against cough induced by ammonia water in the mouse model and the cough induced by citric acid in the guinea pig model were performed to optimize the extraction process of the sovereign medicinal Indigo Naturalis and the whole prescription of Children's Qingfei Zhisou Syrup. The extraction rate of indirubin by the ethanol reflux method was 51.89%, and indirubin was not detected in the product of water extraction. Two samples of Children's Qingfei Zhisou Syrup prepared with different methods can prolong the incubation period of cough and suppress the frequency of coughs in pharmacodynamic experiments. In terms of prolonging the incubation period of cough, the two samples prepared with different methods had no significant difference. In terms of reducing the frequency of coughs, the high-dose Five kinds of ethanol extracts such as indigo naturalis and three kinds of water extracts such as gypsum had better effect against the citric acid-induced cough of guinea pigs than other samples(Plt;0.05). The extraction rate of indirubin in Children's Qingfei Zhisou Syrup sample prepared with ethanol was higher than that with water. The two samples of Children's Qingfei Zhisou Syrup prepared with the two methods showed good antitussive effects. The sample prepared with 5 ingredients(including Indigo Naturalis) extracted with ethanol and 3 ingredients(including Gypsum Fibrosum) extracted with water had better alleviation effect on the citric acid-induced cough of guinea pig than the whole water extract sample. In conclusion, the optimum extraction scheme is ethanol extraction for 5 ingredients including Indigo Naturalis in combination with water extraction for 3 ingredients including Gypsum Fibrosum, and the Children's Qingfei Zhisou Syrup produced in this manner has better antitussive efficacy.

Using network pharmacology to explore the mechanism of the ‘invigorating qi and promoting blood circulation’ drug pair Ginseng-Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) on treatment of ischemic heart disease (IHD). The chemical constituents of ginseng and Danshen drug pair were identified by searching the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP), and the potential targets of the pair were identified. The pharmacodynamics of the pair was analyzed using network pharmacology. The targets of IHD were identified by database screening. Using protein-protein interaction network, the interaction targets of Ginseng-Danshen on IHD were constructed. A “constituent-target-disease” interaction network was constructed using Cytoscape software, Gene Ontology (GO) term enrichment analysis and biological pathway enrichment analysis were carried out, and the mechanism of improving myocardial ischemia by the Ginseng-Danshen drug pair was investigated. Seventeen active constituents and 53 targets were identified from ginseng, 53 active constituents and 61 targets were identified from Danshen, and 32 protein targets were shared by ginseng and Danshen. Twenty GO terms were analyzed, including cytokine receptor binding, cytokine activity, heme binding, and antioxidant activity. Sixty Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) signaling pathways were analyzed, including phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-serine-threonine kinase (PI3K-AKT) signaling pathway, p53 signaling pathway, interleukin 17 signaling pathway, tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway, and the advanced glycation end product (AGE)-the receptor for AGE (RAGE) signaling pathway in diabetic complications. The specific mechanism of Ginseng-Danshen drug pair in treating IHD may be associated with improving the changes of metabolites inbody, inhibiting the production of peroxides, removing the endogenous oxygen free radicals, regulating the expression of inflammatory factors, reducing myocardial cell apoptosis and promoting vascular regeneration.

Background Both a bronchial blocker (BB) and a double-lumen endotracheal tube (DLT) can achieve lung collapse and one-lung ventilation (OLV) during thoracic surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare these two airway devices in terms of efficacy in video-assisted thoraco-laparoscopic esophagectomy for cancer. Methods A total of 55 patients underwent combined thoracoscopic and laparoscopic esophagectomy for cancer were enrolled and divided into a Coopdech bronchial blocker group (CBB group, n=27) or a DLT group (DLT group, n=28). The primary outcome was the lung collapse scores at 1, 5, 10 minutes after the opening of the pleural and assessed using a verbal analogue scale via a real-time video view. Secondary outcomes including time for tube localization, incidence of tube displacement, postoperative sore throats, and surgeons’ satisfaction with surgical manipulations were collected. Background Esophagectomy is a pivotal curative modality for localized esophageal or esophagogastric junction cancer (EC or EJC). Postoperative anastomotic leakage (AL) remains problematic. The use of fibrin sealant (FS) may improve the strength of esophageal anastomosis and reduce the incidence of AL. Aim To assess the efficacy and safety of applying FS to prevent AL in patients with EC or EJC. Methods In this single-arm, phase II trial (Clinicaltrial.gov identifier: NCT03529266), we recruited patients aged 18-80 years with resectable EC or EJC clinically staged as T1-4aN0-3M0. An open or minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy was performed with a circular stapled anastomosis. After performing the anastomosis, 2.5 mL of porcine FS was applied circumferentially. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with AL within 3 mo. Results From June 4, 2018, to December 29, 2018, 57 patients were enrolled. At the data cutoff date (June 30, 2019), three (5.3%) of the 57 patients had developed AL, including two (3.5%) with esophagogastric AL and one (1.8%) with gastric fistula. The incidence of anastomotic stricture and other major postoperative complications was 1.8% and 17.5%, respectively. The median time needed to resume oral feeding after operation was 8 d (Interquartile range: 7.0-9.0 d). No adverse events related to FS were recorded. No deaths occurred within 90 d after surgery. Conclusion Perioperative sealing with porcine FS appears safe and may prevent AL after esophagectomy in patients with resectable EC or EJC. Further phase III studies are warranted.

Protective effect of Qilong Capsules(QL) on the myocardial fibrosis and blood circulation of rats with coronary heart disease of Qi deficiency and blood stasis type was investigated. Sleep deprivation and coronary artery ligation were used to construct a disease-symptom combination model, and 60 SD rats were divided into sham operation(sham) group, syndrome(S) group, disease and syndrome(M) group and QL group randomly. The treatment group received administration of QL 0.4 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1). Other groups were given the same amount of normal saline. The disease indexes of each group [left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVESD), left ventricular end systolic diameter(LVEDD), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), left ventricular axis shortening rate(LVFS), myocardial histopathology, platelet morphology, peripheral blood flow] and syndrome indexes(tongue color, pulse, grip power) were detected. In sham group, cardiomyocytes and myocardial fibers were arranged neatly and densely with clear structures. The tongues' color in sham were light red, and the pulse shape were regular. RGB is a parameter reflected the brightness of the image of the tongue. In the S group, the amplitude and frequency of the animal's pulse increased accompanied by decreasing R,G,B, however, the decreased R,G,B was accompanied by reduced pulse amplitude in M group. And in M group, we observed fuzzy cell morphology, hypertrophied myocytes, disordered arrangement of cardiomyocytes and myocardial fibers, reduced peripheral blood flow and increased collagen volume fraction(CVF). Increased LVESD and LVEDD, and decreased LVEF and LVFS represented cardiac function in S group was significantly lower than that in sham. In QL group, the tongue's color was red and the pulse was smooth. The myocardial fibers of the QL group were arranged neatly and secreted less collagen. It improved the blood circulation in the sole and tail, and reversed the increasing of LVEDD, LVESD and the decreasing of LVEF and LVFS of M group. Platelets in M and S group showed high reactivity, and QL could decrease aggregation risk. In conclusion, Qilong Capsules has an obvious myocardial protective effect on ischemic cardiomyopathy, which may inhibit the degree of myocardial fibrosis and reduce platelet reactivity.

Left thoracic approach (LTA) has been a favorable selection in surgical treatment for esophageal cancer (EC) patients in China before minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) is popular. This study aimed to demonstrate whether right thoracic approach (RTA) is superior to LTA in the surgical treatment of middle and lower thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (TESCC).Superiority clinical trial design was used for this multicenter randomized controlled two-parallel group study. Between April 2015 and December 2018, cT1b-3N0-1M0 TESCC patients from 14 centers were recruited and randomized by a central stratified block randomization program into LTA or RTA groups. All enrolled patients were followed up every three months after surgery. The software SPSS 20.0 and R 3.6.2. were used for statistical analysis. Efficacy and safety outcomes, 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were calculated and compared using the Kaplan-Meier method and the log-rank test.A total of 861 patients without suspected upper mediastinal lymph nodes (umLN) were finally enrolled in the study after 95 ineligible patients were excluded. 833 cases (98.7%) were successfully followed up until June 1, 2020. Esophagectomies were performed via LTA in 453 cases, and via RTA in 408 cases. Compared with the LTA group, the RTA group required longer operating time (274.48±78.92Esophagectomies via both LTA and RTA can achieve similar outcomes in middle or lower TESCC patients without suspected umLN. RTA is superior to LTA and recommended for the surgical treatment of more advanced stage TESCC due to more complete lymphadenectomy.ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02448979.

BackgroundClinically, a single positive lymph node (SPLN) should indicate the least nodal disease burden in node-positive patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and may also be used to define the minimum number of examined lymph nodes (NELNs) in ESCC patients.MethodsData from three Chinese cohorts of 2448 ESCC patients who underwent esophagectomy between 2008 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Based on lymph node status, patients were divided into two groups: N0 ESCC and SPLN ESCC. A Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to determine the minimum NELNs retrieved to maximize survival for ESCC patients with localized lymph node involvement. The results were then validated externally in the SEER database.ResultsA total of 1866 patients were pathologically diagnosed with N0 ESCC, and 582 patients were diagnosed with SPLN ESCC. The overall survival rate of patients with N0 ESCC was significantly better than that of patients with SPLN ESCC (HR 1.88, 95% CI 1.64-2.13, PP=0.13). Analysis of patients selected from the SEER database showed the same trend, and no significant difference was observed between N0 ESCC patients and SPLN ESCC patients with ≥ 20 lymph nodes retrieved (HR: 1.02, 95% CI 0.72-1.43, P=0.92).ConclusionsA minimum of 20 lymph nodes retrieved should be introduced as a quality indicator for ESCC patients with localized lymph node involvement.

The present study evaluated the curative efficacy of Chinese herbal injection on unstable angina pectoris( UAP) by network Meta-analysis. The databases,including Pub Med,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,CNKI,CBM,VIP and Wanfang were searched for randomized controlled trial( RCT) of Chinese herbal injection in the treatment of UAP. All researchers independently screened the articles,extracted the data and evaluated the quality. Open BUGS and Stata were employed for the analysis of the trials that met the quality standards. Fifty-eight studies were finally included in this study,involving 20 intervention measures. In terms of the effective rate,16 injections such as Dengzhan Xixin Injection,Xuesaitong Injection and Danshen Injection combined with western medicine exhibited significant efficacy. In terms of ECG,Puerarin Injection,Ginkgo Leaf Extract and Dipyridamole Injection( GDI),Breviscapine Injection combined with western medicine were superior to western medicine. In terms of the reduction of the angina attack times,Sodium Tanshinone ⅡASulfonate Injection,GDI and Dazhu Hongjingtian Injection combined with western medicine showed better effects than western medicine. In terms of shortening the angina duration,Shenmai Injection combined with western medicine was superior to western medicine. As revealed by the results,Dengzhan Xixin Injection,Xuesaitong Injection,Danshen Injection,Breviscapine Injection,Danshen Ligustrazine Injection combined with western medicine displayed prominent curative efficacy,which were recommended for clinical application. Meanwhile,appropriate intervention measures should be selected according to individual conditions. Limited by the quality of the included trials,the conclusions still need to be further verified.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of electrical stimulation at the rabbit sciatic nerve trunk with the body-insulated acupuncture needle whose body is painted with insulating material.Eighteen male New Zealand rabbits were randomized into the body-insulated acupuncture needle (BIAN), the general acupuncture needle (GAN), and the blank control groups，with 6 rabbits in each group. The rats'sciatic nerve trunks in BIAN and GAN groups were stimulated by electroacupuncture with the body-insulated acupuncture needle (only allowing the uncoated needle handle and tip to conduct electricity) and the general acupuncture needle, separately. The current intensity was recorded when regular plantarflexion reflexes (sciatic nerve effector reflexes) were observed in the rabbit's foot. The pathological changes of the sciatic nerve at the acupuncture site were observed by H.E. staining, and the ultrastructural changes of the sciatic nerve trunk were observed by transmission electron microscope.The intensity of the current causing the regular plantar flexion reflection in BIAN group (［0.29±0.07］ mA) was significantly lower than that in the GAN group(［0.86±0.08］ mA,Insulated acupuncture needle is more accurate and safer than ordinary acupuncture needle for electrical stimulation of rabbit sciatic nerve trunk, and the required electric current intensity is smaller.

Mitochondria are involved in energy metabolism and redox reactions in the cell. Emerging data indicate that mitochondria play an essential role in physiological and pathological processes of neonatal lung development. Mitochondrial damage due to exposure to high concentrations of oxygen is an indeed important factor for simplification of lung structure and development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), as reported in humans and rodent models. Here, we comprehensively review research that have determined the effects of oxygen environment on alveolar development and morphology, summarize changes in mitochondria under high oxygen concentrations, and discuss several mitochondrial mechanisms that may affect cell plasticity and their effects on BPD. Thus, the pathophysiological effects of mitochondria may provide insights into targeted mitochondrial and BPD therapy.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is occasionally observed with synchronous multiple tumor lesions. Our study is aiming to define the clinical and prognostic features of this pathological subtype.This study included a large cohort of 1126 ESCC patients received esophagectomy with systemic lymph-node dissection between 2003 and 2013 in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. The characteristics and prognostic significance of ESCC with multiple lesions were analyzed. The propensity score matching was performed to balance the baseline clinical characteristics.A total of 103 patients (9.1%) with 216 synchronous multiple lesions were identified from postoperative gross samples. Among them, 94 patients had two lesions, and 8 patients had three lesions, while only one patient had four lesions. The consistency of pT stages and histological grade among tumor lesions from the same gross sample were 19.4% (20/103) and 37.9% (39/103), respectively. Additionally, the tumor sites, sizes, and even the pathological subtypes can be variant in one patient. The preoperative upper gastrointestinal endoscopy could only identified 80.1% of the multiple tumor lesions. The male gender (P = 0.012), positive personal cancer history (P 0.001), and higher pN stages (P 0.001) were independent risk factors for synchronous multiple lesions. Patients with multiple lesions showed significantly lower survival rate (P = 0.002), and the multiple-lesion was an independently adverse prognostic factor in operable ESCC (P = 0.002).ESCC with multiple lesions had unique clinical features and should not be simply treated as the one-lesion ESCC. Due to its worse prognostic impact, advanced multidisciplinary therapies should be considered for patients with multiple esophageal tumor lesions.

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI) is an urgent problem with a great impact on health globally. However, its pathological mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. Hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) has a protective effect against MI/RI. This study is aimed at further clarifying the relationship between HSYA cardioprotection and calcium overload as well as the underlying mechanisms. We verified the protective effect of HSYA on neonatal rat primary cardiomyocytes (NPCMs) and human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) from hypoxia-reoxygenation (HR) injury. To explore the cardioprotective mechanism of HSYA, we employed calcium fluorescence, TUNEL assay, JC-1 staining, and western blotting. Finally, cardio-ECR and patch-clamp experiments were used to explain the regulation of L-type calcium channels (LTCC) in cardioprotection mediated by HSYA. The results showed that HSYA reduced the levels of myocardial enzymes and protected NPCMs from HR injury. HSYA also restored the contractile function of hiPSC-CMs and field potential signal abnormalities caused by HR and exerted a protective effect on cardiac function. Further, we demonstrated that HSYA protects cardiomyocytes from HR injury by decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting apoptosis and calcium overload. Patch-clamp results revealed that MI/RI caused a sharp increase in calcium currents, which was inhibited by pretreatment with HSYA. Furthermore, we found that HSYA restored contraction amplitude, beat rate, and field potential duration of hiPSC-CMs, which were disrupted by the LTCC agonist Bay-K8644. Patch-clamp experiments also showed that HSYA inhibits Bay-K8644-induced calcium current, with an effect similar to that of the LTCC inhibitor nisoldipine. Therefore, our data suggest that HSYA targets LTCC to inhibit calcium overload and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, thereby exerting a cardioprotective effect and reducing MI/RI injury.

Background Lung adenocarcinoma has increased incidence over the past years and is the cause for almost 50% of deaths attributable to lung cancer. The objective of this paper is to identify activated pathways associated with lung adenocarcinoma based on gene co-expression network analysis. Materials and methods Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis of dysregulated genes was performed based on Expression Analysis Systematic Explorer test to illuminate the biological pathways. Co-expression networks of lung adenocarcinoma in different tumor Stages (IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, and IV) were constructed by Empirical Bayes approach to reweight gene pair scores. Pathway activity analysis was conducted to compute the distribution of pathways in different stages and to identify "activated" pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. Results We evaluated 211 dysregulated genes between lung adenocarcinoma patients and normal controls. Pathway activity analysis was performed and P values of pathways, which obtained from co-expression networks (Stage IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, and IV), were calculated. Cell cycle, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, and oocyte meiosis were activated during all stages in lung adenocarcinoma. Conclusions We successfully identified three activated pathways (cell cycle, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, and oocyte meiosis) in different Stages (IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, and IV) of lung adenocarcinoma.

Background Although sorafenib was recommended as a first-line systemic therapy to prolong overall survival time in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), two randomized phase 3 noninferiority trials demonstrated that lenvatinib was noninferior to sorafenib in unresectable HCC. Methods This study included three trials containing 1462 patients identified by a database search using standard terms. We conducted the data analysis in Review Manager version 5.3 software. Results The outcomes showed that there were nonsignificant differences in OS of 6, 12, 18, 30 and 36 months, PFS of 18, 24, 30 and 36 months and AEs (grade
