14. Identificación de los ecosistemas de emprendimiento en México

Abstract

Los ecosistemas de emprendimiento explican la manera en que el contexto le da forma a la actividad emprendedora, y al mismo tiempo, ilustran el nivel de desarrollo del territorio y su idoneidad para el nacimiento de las empresas. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo caracterizar los ecosistemas de emprendimiento de los municipios de México. El estudio es descriptivo, cuantitativo, dado que se emplean indicadores para generar una clasificación a través del análisis de clústeres jerárquicos, empleando datos del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía, de 2.008 municipios de México. Como resultado se pudo identificar cinco grupos de municipios, de acuerdo con los factores de capital, emprendimiento y crecimiento económico, además de la informalidad del emprendimiento que caracteriza el territorio mexicano. Se encontraron 5 clústeres de ecosistemas de emprendimiento, el primero con alta informalidad, un segundo con bajo nivel de capital social y alta informalidad, el clúster tres con bajo capital humano y bajo emprendimiento, un cuarto clúster con capital humano medio y bajo emprendimiento, y finalmente un clúster con alto emprendimiento. Se concluye que estudiar los ecosistemas de emprendimiento permite obtener datos objetivos sobre el estado de los municipios y llevar a cabo una clasificación por su grado de desarrollo.

15. Obtención de plasma rico en plaquetas (PRP) en el Laboratorio de Terapia Celular para uso como herramienta terapéutica en medicina regenerativa

Abstract

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is used to speed up tissue repair. Despite its widespread use, the therapeutic application of PRP generates controversies in clinical results due to the variability in methods of obtaining the different preparations and differences between the components of different types of PRP, so it’s recommended to mention the type of platelet preparation used. In this article, we describe technical and biologics characteristics of our platelet product, and we compare them to different commercial preparations described in order to validate their clinical use. Our results determine that the preparation can be considered a platelet rich plasma with biological activity in vivo and in vitro, which supports its use as a valid therapeutic tool, alternative to products currently available in Regenerative Medicine.

Approximately 2%–4% of patients die during the acute phase, and one-third of the 96% who survive are at risk of chronic renal sequelae. Little information is available about the direct effect of Shiga toxin type 2 (Stx2) on the onset of proteinuria and the evolution of toxin-mediated glomerular or tubular injury. In this work, rats were injected intraperitoneally with recombinant Escherichia coli culture supernatant containing Stx2 (sStx2; 20 µg/kg body weight) to induce HUS. Functional, immunoblotting, and immunohistochemistry studies were carried out to determine alterations in slit diaphragm proteins and the proximal tubule endocytic system at 48 hours post-inoculation. We detected a significant increase in microalbuminuria, without changes in the proteinuria values compared to the control rats. In immunoperoxidase studies, the renal tubules and glomerular mesangium showed an increased expression of transforming growth factor ß1(TGF-ß1). The expression of megalin was decreased by immunoperoxidase and the cytoplasm showed a granular pattern of megalin expression by immunofluorescence techniques. Western blot analysis performed in the renal cortex from sStx2-treated and control rats using anti-nephrin and anti-podocalyxin antibodies showed a decreased expression of these proteins. We suggest that the alterations in slit diaphragm proteins and megalin expression could be related to the development of microalbuminuria in response to lethal doses of Stx2.Keywords: microalbuminuria, nephrin, podocytes, podocalyxin, megalin, acute renal injury

Abstract

Introduction: students characterization is a procedure in the generation of information because it allows to diagnose, evaluate and provide feedback for curricular planning and organization. Methods: the purpose of this descriptive transversal study was to identify the demographic, socioeconomic, academic and professional characteristics, as well as other extracurricular activities of postgraduate students at the School of dentistry of the Universidad de Antioquia enrolled during the first semester 2004. The sample consisted of 48 students who answered a survey with open and closed questions, the data was processed by means of EPI-INFO program. Results and conclusions: the results showed that the majority of students are single women with a range of ages between the 28 and 30 years; more that half of them work between 6 and 10 hours a week and earn between 1 and 2 minimum wage monthly salaries. They mostly work in the clinical areas without affecting their academic performance because of it, inversely, their work is not hindered by their academics obligations. The information presented here could useful for curricular design and future planning as well as for accreditation processes of postgraduate programs.

Abstract

Pyridoxal-5’-phosphate (PLP), the enzymatic cofactor form of Vitamin B6 (vitB6), is a versatile compound that has essential roles in metabolism. Cellular PLP homeostasic regulation is currently not well understood. Here we report that in Arabidopsis, biosynthesized PLP is sequestered by specific aminotransferases (ATs), and that the proteins ROOT UV-B SENSITIVE 1 (RUS1) and RUS2 function with ATs to regulate PLP homeostasis. The stunted growth phenotypes of rus1 and rus2 mutants were previously shown to be rescuable by exogenously supplied vitB6. Specific residue changes near the PLP-binding pocket in ASPARTATE AMINOTRANSFERASE2 (ASP2) also rescued rus1 and rus2 phenotypes. In this study, saturated suppressor screens identified 14 additional suppressor of rus (sor) alleles in four aminotransferase genes (ASP1, ASP2, ASP3, or ALANIN AMINOTRANSFERASE1 (AAT1)), which suppressed the rus phenotypes to varying degrees. Each of the sor mutations altered an amino acid in the PLP-binding pocket of the protein, and sor proteins were found to have reduced levels of PLP conjugation. Genetic data revealed that the availability of PLP normally requires both RUS1 and RUS2, and that increasing the number of sor mutants additively enhanced the suppression of rus phenotypes. Biochemical results showed that RUS1 and RUS2 physically interacted with ATs. Our studies suggest a mechanism in which RUS1, RUS2 and specific ATs work together to regulate PLP homeostasis in Arabidopsis.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Pain, fear, and fainting management during school-based vaccinations is suboptimal. The objective was to examine stakeholder perceptions of barriers and facilitators to better practices. Method: Six semi-structured focus groups were conducted in Niagara Region, Ontario: two parent groups (n=7); one grade 7 to 8 student group (n=9); two nurse groups (n=12); and one school staff group (n=6). Participants shared perceptions about school vaccination clinics and the implementation of specific strategies and tools. Focus groups were audio recorded and transcribed. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) was used as the framework for analysis. RESULTS: Feedback from stakeholders was categorized into four domains of CFIR: intervention characteristics, inner setting, outer setting, and characteristics of individuals. Intervention characteristics included: vaccine educational materials, vaccination accommodations, distraction techniques, topical anaesthetics, and food. Inner setting factors included: school vaccination procedures, relationships between school staff and nurses, assessment and documentation of student fear, and factors that contribute to a chaotic vaccination clinic. Outer setting factors were: the social environment and addressing parent and student needs. Stakeholder roles were discussed in characteristics of individuals. CONCLUSION: This study identified elements that can facilitate and challenge pain and fear mitigation tools and strategies; these elements should be considered in the development of a Knowledge Translation (KT) intervention to improve the school vaccination experience.

Abstract

En el presente estudio se evaluaron las condiciones óptimas del proceso de electrocoagulación (EC) para su aplicación en la remoción del colorante índigo carmín(IC) presente en agua. Se utilizaron soluciones acuosas de diferentes concentraciones iniciales de 100, 200 y 300 mg/L del colorante. Se determinó la densidad de corriente (DC) óptima para cada una de las concentraciones de partida. Se encontró que, al aumentar la concentración inicial del índigo carmín, la DC óptima utilizada fue mayor, para un tiempo de tratamiento de 40 minutos. Los porcentajes de remoción de color obtenidos fueron 65, 61 y 54% partiendo de concentraciones inicial de 100, 200 y 300 mg/L respectivamente.

A new method enables the preparation of the immunosuppressive bioisosteres of oxisuran metabolites, which possess the quinoline, isoquinoline and pyrazine rings instead of the pyridine group, and their O-methyl derivatives. Molecular mechanics force field and the Altona relationship facilitate the configurational assignment and conformational analysis of the diastereomers of beta-hydroxy sulfoxides and beta-methoxy sulfoxides. Steric and polar effects account for the conformational equilibrium.

Abstract

Kricheldorf methodology is employed to prepare (Z)-2-aryl-1-(ethoxycarboxyl)- vinyl isocyanates from ((methylthio)carbonyl)amino derivatives. The yield is high and these isocyanates are thermally stable in nonenolizable solvents. Isocyanates are used for symmetrical vinyl urea synthesis and prevent side reactions by an enamine intermediate. The structures are established by spectral data and chemical analysis.

Abstract

Wetting and corrosion experiments by molten aluminum were performed on mullite and Ba-celsian (BaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 ) substrates. The BaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 was synthesized from a mixture of alumina, silica and barium carbonate at 1450 °C for 10 h. The formation of pure BaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 was corroborated by X-Ray Diffraction analysis. Corrosion tests were performed by an immersion test of samples in molten pure aluminum or 319.0 alloy at 900 °C for 24 h. The wetting angles were measured using the sessile droop test at 900 °C for 2 h using the same Al alloys. The mullite sample showed a severe corrosion after the test, while the BaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 sample showed a corrosion layer of about 100 μm. The wetting angles were 109° and 127° for mullite in contact with pure Al and 319.0 alloy, respectively, while for BaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 were 153° and 149°, showing a no wetting behavior.

Abstract

Three sulfurated N-methylpiperidinium chlorides undergo conformational and configurational studies to evaluate the importance of polar interactions between a quaternary nitrogen and sulfur at positions 1,3. The studies show that the N-piperidinium ring adopts a single undistorted ring conformation, with the methyl and sulfur groups in fixed equatorial positions. Variations in conformation revolve around the C3-sulfur bond, depending on the steric and polar interactions among the sigma-deficient C2, the sigma-rich C4, the sulfur pair and the sigma-rich oxygen of the sulfoxide and sulfone groups.
