Synthesis and urea derivatization of (Z)-2-aryl-1-(ethoxycarbonyl)vinyl isocyanates

Kricheldorf methodology is employed to prepare (Z)-2-aryl-1-(ethoxycarboxyl)- vinyl isocyanates from ((methylthio)carbonyl)amino derivatives. The yield is high and these isocyanates are thermally stable in nonenolizable solvents. Isocyanates are used for symmetrical vinyl urea synthesis and prevent side reactions by an enamine intermediate. The structures are established by spectral data and chemical analysis.
