Abstract

This study investigates the influence of trimming layer thickness on the performance characteristics of thin-film bulk acoustic resonators (FBARs). By adjusting the thickness of the trimming layer, we aimed to optimize the resonant (f s) and antiresonant frequencies (f p) , which are critical for the filter's performance in blocking or passing specific frequency bands. Employing theoretical modeling and experimental validation, we explored how variations in the trimming layer thickness affect the electromechanical coupling coefficient (k t 2) and the overall energy efficiency of FBARs. The study also considered the impact of piezoelectric layer thickness on the effectiveness of these adjustments, revealing that thinner piezoelectric layers are more sensitive to changes in the trimming layer, enhancing the tuning capability for high-frequency applications. Our results confirm that reducing the trimming layer thickness increases both resonant and antiresonant frequencies, with a more pronounced effect on the latter, suggesting a significant phase correction effect from the trimming layer, resulting in the quality Q factor reductions. Our experimental results show that as the trimming layer thickness increases from 200 to 300 nm, the Q factor increases by 11%, while k t 2 decreases by 4%. This research provides critical insights into the design and optimization of FBARs, offering guidelines that can help advance the development of more efficient and effective RF components for future mobile communication technologies. Abstract

As a crucial class of functional molecules in organosilicon chemistry, silanols are found valuable applications in the fields of modern science and will be a potentially powerful framework for biologically active compounds or functional materials. It has witnessed an increasing demand for non‐natural organosilanols, as well as the progress in the synthesis of these structural features. From the classic preparative methods to the catalytic selective oxidation of hydrosilanes, electrochemical hydrolysis of hydrosilanes, and then the construction of the most challenging silicon‐stereogenic silanols. This review summarized the progress in the catalyzed synthesis of silanols via hydroxylation of hydrosilanes in the last decade, with a particular emphasis on the latest elegant developments in the desymmetrization strategy for the enantioselective synthesis of silicon‐stereogenic silanols from dihydrosilanes. Abstract

BACKGROUND Radiologic adjacent segment degeneration (ASDeg) can occur after spinal surgery. Adjacent segment disease (ASDis) is defined as the development of new clinical symptoms corresponding to radiographic changes adjacent to the level of previous spinal surgery. Greater pre-existing ASDeg is generally considered to result in more severe ASDis; nonetheless, whether the ASDeg status before index surgery influences the postoperative risk of revision surgery due to ASDis warrants investigation. AIM To identify possible risk factors for ASDis and verify the concept that greater preexisting ASDeg leads to more severe ASDis. METHODS Data from 212 patients who underwent posterior decompression with Dynesys stabilization from January 2006 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients who underwent surgery for ASDis were categorized as group A (n = 13), whereas those who did not were classified as group B (n = 199). Survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models were used to compare the modified Pfirrmann grade, University of California-Los Angeles grade, body mass index, number of Dynesys-instrumented levels, and age. RESULTS The mean time of reoperation was 7.22 (1.65–11.84) years in group A, and the mean follow-up period was 6.09 (0.10–12.76) years in group B. No significant difference in reoperation risk was observed: Modified Pfirrmann grade 3 vs 4 (P = 0.53) or 4 vs 5 (P = 0.46) for the upper adjacent disc, University of California-Los Angeles grade 2 vs 3 for the upper adjacent segment (P = 0.66), age of < 60 vs > 60 years (P = 0.9), body mass index < 25 vs > 25 kg/m2 (P = 0.3), and sex (P = 0.8). CONCLUSION Greater preexisting upper ASDeg was not associated with a higher rate of reoperation for ASDis after Dynesys surgery. Being overweight tended to increase reoperation risk after Dynesys surgery for ASDis.

Abstract

The transition-metal-catalyzed synthesis of chiral silacycles is a challenging processes in organosilicon chemistry. Herein, we report a facile and regioselective synthesis of a novel class of 2,3-dihydrosilole derivatives with good yields via the palladium-catalyzed Heck-type reaction of silacyclopentenes (SCPs) with aryl iodides. Preliminary investigations on the enantioselective version of this palladium-catalyzed Heck-type process reveal that the presence of N -Boc- l -proline allows the diastereo- and enantioselective formation of chiral 2,3-dihydrosilole derivatives bearing both carbon and silicon-stereogenic centers.
