Breast cancer is one of the leading cancer deaths around the world. Targeted drugs have greatly increased the survival rate of breast cancer patients in recent years. But in some patients, the current regimen is still ineffective. Therefore, more therapeutic targets for treating breast cancer are demanding. The core heterochromatin-related genes of breast cancer were identified by utilizing prognostic survival analysis and multivariate Cox hazard proportional regression analysis. Both breast cancer and adjacent normal tissue were collected and analyzed with western blot and immunohistochemistry. Colony formation assay, CCK8 assay, and EdU assay were used to measure the effect of CBX3 on breast cancer cell growth, wound-healing assay and Transwell assay were used to analyze the effect of CBX3 on breast cancer cell migration and invasion. Flow cytometry assay and western blot were used to study the molecular mechanism of CBX3 in breast cancer. High expression of heterochromatin-related proteins CBX3, H2AFY, and SULF1 showed a poor prognosis in patients in both TCGA dataset and GEO datasets. Western blot demonstrated that the expression level of CBX3 was significantly higher in breast cancer than that in adjacent normal tissues. Colony formation assay, CCK8 assay, and EdU assay showed that the knockdown of CBX3 could significantly inhibit breast cancer cell growth, and the overexpression of CBX3 could promote the growth of breast cancer cells. Transwell assay and wound healing assay showed that knockdown of CBX3 inhibited breast cancer cell migration and invasion, and the overexpression of CBX3 promoted breast cancer cell migration and invasion. Western blot showed that CBX3 might promote breast cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and migration in breast cancer by modulating the ERK1/2 signaling pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related genes. CBX3 was a biomarker of poor prognosis in breast cancer patients. CBX3 promoted the proliferation of breast cancer cells through the ERK signaling pathway, and migration and invasion of breast cancer cells through EMT-related genes. The CBX3/p-ERK1/2 signaling axis might provide a new therapeutic method against breast cancer.

Deep sea water (DSW), as a noticeable natural resource, has been demonstrated to contain high levels of beneficial minerals and exert marked anti-diabetes effects. Epidemiological studies show that type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely related to high danger of Alzheimer's disease (AD); moreover, Akt/GSK-3β signaling is the main underlying pathway that connects these two diseases. Besides, it has been demonstrated that minerals in DSW, such as Mg, Se, and Zn, could effectively treat cognitive deficits associated with AD. Herein, we first observed the protection of DSW against cognitive dysfunction in T2DM rats, then furtherly explored the neuroprotective mechanism in SH-SY5Y cell model. In T2DM rats, DSW obviously elevated the concentrations of elements Mg, V, Cr, Zn, and Se in brain and improved learning and memory dysfunction in behavior assays, including Morris water maze (MWM) and new object recognition (NOR). Western blot (WB) results demonstrated that DSW could stimulate PI3K/Akt/GSK-3β signaling, arrest Tau hyperphosphorylation at serine (Ser) 396 and threonine (Thr)231, which was confirmed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). In order to further confirm the mechanism, we employed wortmannin to inhibit PI3K in SH-SY5Y cells; results showed that pretreatment with wortmannin almost abolished DSW-induced decreases in phosphorylated Tau. Taken together, these data elucidated that DSW could improve Tau hyperphosphorylation and cognitive impairment, which were closely related with the stimulation of Akt/GSK-3β signaling, and the neuroprotective effects of DSW should be contributed to the synergistic effects of major and trace elements in it, such as Mg, V, Cr, Zn, and Se. These experimental evidence indicated that DSW may be explored as natural neuroprotective food for the prevention and treatment of AD.

Two new polyacetylene glucosides, (1) (10S)-tridecane-2E,12-diene-4,6,8-triyne-1-ol-10-O-β-D-glucopyranoside and (2) (12R)-tridecane-2E,8E-diene-4,6-diyne-1,14-diol-12-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, and a new caffeoyl derivative, (3) 4-O-acetyl-3-O-caffeoyl-2-C-methyl-D-erythronate, were isolated from the ethanol extract of the whole herb of Bidens parviflora Willd. The compound structures were confirmed by 1D and 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS spectra and by comparison with literature data. In addition, the absolute configurations of compounds 1 and 2 were determined by circular dichroism (CD). The angiogenic activity of compounds 1∼3 was evaluated with an intersegmental vessel (ISV) zebrafish injury model induced by PTK787. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited angiogenic activity at 25 μg/mL.

Background Leucine-rich repeat containing 15 (LRRC15), belongs to the LRR superfamily and has emerged as a marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts. It was found to be particularly upregulated in breast cancer (BCa). This study aimed to investigate the correlation between LRRC15 expression and immune microenviroment and visualize its prognostic landscape in BCa. Methods The mRNA expression level, prognostic value, correlation of immunity, gene-gene interaction network of LRRC15 in BCa were analyzed utilizing the Oncomine, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA), UALCAN, Kaplan-Meier plotter, and TIMER database. We next analyzed the biological functions of LRRC15 and pathways of its co-expressed genes, and its correlation with immune system responses via the Metascape and GeneMANIA database, respectively. We validated the expression of LRRC15 in BCa via western blot and IHC assays and analyzed its correlation with clinicopathological parameters. Results We explored LRRC15 expression in multiple types of cancer based on the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, with the effect being particularly pronounced in BCa. Both mRNA and protein abundance of LRRC15 were significantly elevated in BCa as compared to its non-tumor counterparts. Overexpression of LRRC15 significantly associated with reduced overall survival. LRRC15 knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation and cell cycle in BCa cells. There were significant positive correlations between LRRC15 expression and tumor-infiltrating immune cells (TIICs), with a particularly strong effect on macrophage infiltration. Moreover, markers of TIICs exhibited different LRRC15-related immune infiltration patterns. GSEA analysis showed that upregulated expression of LRRC15 was related to ECM receptor interaction, focal adhesion, regulation of actin cytoskeleton, and TGF Beta signaling pathway. Conclusions These findings revealed that LRRC15 served as a novel prognostic biomarker and putative oncogene for BCa by promoting cell proliferation, giving a novel hint for therapeutics of BCa.

Twenty-four compounds were obtained from Pteroxygonum giraldii and were classified as five triterpenes (1–5), two sterols (6 and 7), two quinones (8 and 11), three stilbenes (9, 10 and 18) and twelve flavonoids (12–17, 19–24). Seventeen of these compounds were obtained from the genus Pteroxygonum for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of this plant was also discussed. Compounds 10, 12 and 23 can serve as the fingerprints for P. giraldii, and compounds 12, 13, 17 and 22–24 are recognized as typical metabolites of P. giraldii. Both Pteroxygonum and Polygonum might have the same origin and could be classified into the same tribe among Polygonaceae. Furthermore, due to the presence of stilbenes, Pteroxygonum may have some taxonomic relationships with Fallopia, Rumex and Reynoutria.

Traditional fusible interlining utilizes an adhesive on the fabric surface to improve garment hand despite the cost. Recent research led to the development of printable interlining that bypasses the fusion process. Printable interlining prints the adhesive directly onto the garment parts at a suitable density, achieving the support and control equivalent to a fusion process only at a fraction of the cost. However, hurdles for applications exist in that the efficiency of the printing technique calls for improvement. One governing key performance factor, the hand value has not been evaluated. In this work, we used an efficient interlining printing technique on woolen fabrics of various weights, and optimized the hand value performance through modulation of manufacturing effective factors, including squeegee frequency, screen mesh, and agent viscosity, using an orthogonal testing strategy. The results showed that for lightweight woolen fabrics screen mesh was an important factor for hand value performance; for light and medium weight woolen fabrics, the squeegee frequency had significant impact on hand value performance; for medium and heavyweight fabrics agent viscosity was an influential factor. We also explored possible correlations between primary hand value parameters that may simplify research and manufacturing processes by reducing the number of primary hand values measured. The results revealed significant correlations between any combination of primary hand values, with stronger correlations as the fabric weight increased. These results may have implications in hand value-oriented garment manufacturing of printable interlinings to woolen fabrics.

A phytochemical study on the rhizomes of Gastrodia elata f. glauca resulted in the isolation of three new parishin derivatives and one new adenosine derivative, together with six known compounds. Their structures were elucidated mainly by spectroscopic analysis and compared to published data. All these isolates were evaluated for their neuroprotective effects against 6-hydroxydopamine-induced cell death, and new compound 4 showed potent activity with an EC50 value of 12.0 μM.

One new triterpenoid saponin (1), as well as six known ones (2–7), were isolated from the ethanol extract of the thorns of Gleditsia sinensis. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis in conjunction with chemical evidence. Cytotoxic activity of compounds 1–6 was evaluated against human breast cancer MCF 7 cells in vitro by the MTT method. Our results revealed moderate activities for compounds 1–6 with IC50 values of 18.43, 30.47, 18.46, 10.02, 30.76, and 17.32 μM, respectively. Furthermore, compounds 1, 3, 4, and 6 induced apoptosis in MCF 7 cell, with 1 and 6 causing late apoptosis of MCF 7 cells, while 3 and 4 acting oppositely.

Sixteen compounds were isolated from the whole herbs of Peperomia tetraphylla (Forst. F.) Hooker et Arnott by phytochemical methods, including eight flavonoids (1–3, 6, 7, 14–16), three lignans (8–10), three beta sitosterols (4, 5, 11), and two phenolic acids (12, 13). Their structures were identified by the analysis of NMR and MS, as well as the comparisons to the reported data. Among them, 2″-O-xylosylisoswertisin (14) was firstly isolated from the Piperaceae family, as well as ten compounds (1–4, 7, 10–11, 13, 15–16) were isolated from P. tytraphylla for the first time. Moreover, the chemotaxonomic significance of constituents isolated from P. tytraphylla was also discussed.

Our studies report the isolation of seventeen compounds (1–17), which include three phenolic acids (12–14), seven flavonoids (3, 6, 8, 11, 15–17), four secolignans (1, 2, 5 and 9), one tetrahydrofuran lignin (10) and two alkaloids (4 and 7). These compounds have been obtained from the Peperomia tetraphylla using chromatographic methods. Their structures were confirmed based on spectroscopic methods. Among them, five compounds (4, 7, 8, 11 and 15) were found in the family, four compounds (3 and 12–14) were firstly reported from genus Peperomia, and four compounds (6, 9, 16 and 17) were firstly obtained from this species. Furthermore, the chemotaxonomic significance of these ingredients from the whole plants of P. tetraphylla has been discussed in detail.

Sixteen reported compounds (1–16), including two sterols, nine triterpenes and five phenylpropanoids, were obtained from Nannoglottis yuennanensis (Compositae) by chromatographic methods. Their structures were confirmed on the basis of spectroscopic methods. Among them, five compounds were firstly reported from the genus Nannoglottis, while others were obtained from this species for the first time. In addition, this study indicated that genus Nannoglottis could be divided into Astereae Cass. As a result, N. yuennanensis may have close chemotaxonomic relationships with many other plants among Compositae family.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been widely used in China and is regarded as the most commonly used treatment. As a natural plant used in traditional Chinese Medicine, Basil has various functions associated with a number of its components. There are many compositions in basil including polysaccharides, naphtha, steroids, flavone, coumarins, vitamins, and so on. Among these, polysaccharides play a significant role in based therapeutics. The article summarizes that basil polysaccharides have a lot of biological activities and pharmacological applications, such as their antitumor activity, antioxidant activity, anti-aging activity, immunity enhancement effect, hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerotic effects, antibacterial effect, treatment of diabetes mellitus, and so on. This review summarized the extraction method, purification method, compositions, pharmacological applications, molecular weight, biological activities, and prospects of basil polysaccharides, providing a basis for further study of basil and basil polysaccharides.

Phytochemical study of Glycyrrhiza pallidiflora Maxim. gave seventeen compounds, including two sterols (3 and 4), four triterpenes (1, 2, 5, 6), ten flavones (7, 9–17), and one pterocarpan (8). The chemotaxonomic significance of G. pallidiflora was discussed, which indicated the close relationship between G. pallidiflora with other species of Glycyrrhiza. Moreover, pallidiflorin can be served as a fingerprint for G. pallidiflora, macedonic acid and echinatin can be recognized as biomarkers for Glycyrrhiza, while formononetin, afrormosin and calycosin may be typical second metabolites for Papilionoideae.

Twenty-four compounds were obtained from the extract of the leaves of I. urceolatus , which were divided into saturated fatty alcohols ( 1 and 2 ), triterpenoids ( 3 – 8 and 14 – 16 ), lignanoids ( 9 , 20 and 22 ), coumarins ( 10 and 19 ), flavonoids ( 11 – 13 , 21 , 23 and 24 ) and others ( 17 and 18 ). Among them, compounds 1 , 2 , 17 and 18 were firstly obtained from the genus Ilex , others were isolated from this species for the first time. The chemotaxonomic relationships between I. urceolatus and other species of genus Ilex were also discussed. As a result, the isolated compounds closely matched the ones obtained in other species of the genus.

Twenty compounds were obtained from Glycyrrhiza glabra L., which were divided as fatty alcohols (1 and 5), sterols (2, 4 and 8), triterpenes (3, 6 and 7), flavones (9, 12–15), coumarins (10, 11, 19 and 20) and stilbenes (16–18). The chemotaxonomic significance of G. glabra and the other species among Fabaceae was also discussed. As a result, genus Glycyrrhiza may have close relationships with genera Caesalpinia and Dalbergia, and Trib. Galegeae may have close relationships with Caesalpinieae, Desmodieae, Dipterygeae and Millettieae.

A new apotirucallane-type triterpenoid, 3α-benzoate triterpenoid A (1), along with six known triterpenoids (2–7), one aromatic ester (8) and eight lignans (9–16), were isolated from the fruits of Melia azedarach Linn. The structure of 1 was determined by spectral analyses, including HR-ESI-MS, 1D NMR (1H NMR and 13C NMR) and 2D NMR (HSQC and HMBC) analyses. 10, 11 and 16 were reported for the first time from the family Meliaceae, 8 was identified from the genus Melia for the first time, and 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12–15 were obtained from M. azedarach for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds is discussed.

To study the chemical constituents of the methylene chloride extract of Lonicerae Japonicae Flos.The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatography and recrystallization. The structures were elucidated by the physical and chemical properties,MS,1H-NMR and13C-NMR spectroscopy.Nine compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as β-sitosterol( 1),benzoic acid( 2),5-hydroxy-7,3’,4’-trimethoxyflavone( 3),tetrapedic acid B( 4),tricin( 5),hydnocarpin D( 6),6,7,10-trihydroxy-8-octadecenoic acid( 7),5’-methoxyhydnocarpin-D( 8) and daucosterol( 9).Compound 2,4,7,8 are isolated from this plant,compounds 2,7,8 are isolated from Caprifoliaceae family for the first time.

Four new gastrodin derivatives containing a trans-cinnamoyl unit (1-4) and nine known compounds (5-13) were isolated from the rhizomes of Gastrodia elata Blume. All these compounds were evaluated for their neuroprotective effects against 6-hydroxydopamine-induced cell death, and compounds 7 and 12 showed potent activities with EC50 values of 10.5 and 10.2 μM, respectively.

Thirty-one compounds, including fourteen triterpenoids (1–14), seven coumarins (15–21), four lignans (22–25), and six diterpenes (26–31) were isolated from the aerial part of Euphorbia hirta. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by comparison of their reported spectroscopic data. These compounds have shown the chemical relationships between this plant and other species from the genus Euphorbia.

Four new long-chain esters of trans-ferulic acid (1–4) were isolated from the thorns of Gleditsia sinensis, together with eight known compounds (5–13). The structure elucidations were achieved by in-depth spectroscopic examination, mainly including multiple 1D- and 2D-NMR and HRESIMS experiments and analyses. Cytotoxic activities of these compounds were evaluated against human liver cancer SK-hep-1 cell line by the MTT in vitro assay. Among them, compound 13 exhibited potent cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 38.18 μM, and compounds 7 and 8 showed moderate cytotoxic activities with IC50 values of 58.11 and 54.61 μM, respectively.

Twenty-nine compounds, including five acetophenone derivatives (1–5), three phenanthroindolizidine alkaloids (12–14), seven pentacyclic triterpenoids (15–21) and five C21 steroidal sapogenins (22–26), were isolated from the root of Cynanchum paniculatum (Bunge) Kitag. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods and comparison with reported data. Moreover, the chemotaxonomic relationships were also discussed. As a result, acetophenone derivatives, pentacyclic triterpenoids and C21 pregnane sapogenins can be recognized as chemotaxonomic markers for Cynanchum genus, and C. paniculatum has close relationships with some species of genus Cynanchum.

A new polysaccharide named PRG was isolated from the fruiting bodies of Phellinus ribis by hot water extraction, ethanol precipitation, anion-exchange and gel-filtration chromatography. PRG was homogeneous, with a molecular weight of 5.16 × 10(3)Da, as determined by high-performance size-exclusion chromatography-multiangle laser light scattering analysis. Its structural characteristics were investigated and elucidated by methylation analysis, partial acid hydrolysis, gas-liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Based on obtained data, PRG was found to be a β-d-glucan containing a (1 → 3)-linked backbone, with a branch of two (1 → 6)-linked and one terminal glucoses substituting at the C-6 position every three residues, along the main chain. PRG exhibited neurotrophic activity, which significantly promoted the neurite outgrowth of the nerve growth factor-stimulated PC12 cells, suggesting that it might be a potential candidate for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

It is feasible to polymerize SMPU from MDI, PBA, BDO and DMF. Each component has a good ductility, but there are insufficient in terms of strength, glass-point temperature, crack resistance and implosion tendencies. The formulation (PBA: BDO: MDI: DMF=1: 3: (3-4): (7-8)) is recommended. SMPU polymerized by this proportion has good comprehensive properties. The effect of the two-step prepolymerization method, especially the full polymerization method is satisfactory. The composite Materials obtained from powders and particles by hot press molding and that formed by cotton fabric have good ductility. Finally, some suggestions are proposed about implosion preventing, casting crack preventing and development technology.

One new tirucallane-type nortriterpenoid Nortirucallane A (1), together with Chrysoeriol (2) and Isorhamnetin (3), was isolated from the methylene chloride part of Lonicerae japonicae flos. Their structures were elucidated by the detailed analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data. Compound 3 was isolated from the genus of Lonicera for the first time. The significance of 1 for the study of phytochemical taxonomy was discussed.

Based on the analysis of the apparel products development process and an application of the computer programmed analysis method, this article details a multilayer apparel products development model that proved to be more effective and valid than the traditional method of apparel products development.

The nano Al2O3 -Cu/Cr composite was prepared by a simplified internal oxidation technique of the vacuum hot-press sintering-internal oxidizing method. The tensile strength and microhardness were determined respectively. The microstructures were analyzed by means of a scanning electron microscope (SEM). On the basis of above results, the main strengthening mechanisms were investigated by quantitative calculation of several strengthening effects. The experimental results show that the microhardness and tensile strength obviously increase with increased cold deformation. The main strengthening mechanisms of the nano Al2O3 -Cu/Cr composites are mainly attributed to the dispersion of the nano-scale of alumina particles and the aggregate of the Cr particle phase, of which the former can restrict the mobility of the dislocations and increase the density of dislocations. Meanwhile, the cold deformation strengthening has some important effect to a certain extent.

In this paper, the present situations and problems of the digital substation 220KV Baicheng are introduced and analyzed, And some schemes are proposed including the configuration of DF1900 monitoring system in substation layer and DF1925 controlling system in interval layer, and the optimization of communication networks and the access of the electronic transformer.The evaluations of successful transformation are summarized from the reliability and availability and flexibility in the end. From evaluations of the scheme, this transformation makes the reliability and availability of the digital substation 220KV baicheng improve greatly, but also enhances the flexibility of system. Moreover, the transformation also saves much money to purchase equipment of substation, so it also provides a new method to change for a large number of old substations to digital ones.

Ethnopharmacological relevance The genus Litsea , mainly distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions, has been used in traditional and indigenous Chinese medicines for the treatment of diarrhea, stomachache, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, diabetes, edema, cold, arthritis, asthma, pain, traumatic injury, etc. for a long history. The present review aims to provide a comprehensive summary on the ethnomedical uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacology of the Litsea species used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Based on these data, evidences supporting their ethnopharmacological effectiveness are illustrated, and opportunities for the future research and development as well as the therapeutic potential of this genus are analyzed to highlight the gaps in our knowledge that deserves further investigation. Material and methods Information on the Litsea species was collected via electronic search (using Pubmed, SciFinder, Google Scholar, Web of Science and CNKI) and a library search for articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, information was also obtained from some local books on ethnopharmacology. Results Twenty plants of the genus Litsea are found to be important traditional medicines in China, and have a long medicinal application for diarrhea, stomachache, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, diabetes, edema, cold, arthritis, asthma, pain, traumatic injury, etc . Over 200 ingredients have been identified from these 20 Litsea species used in TCM, and flavonoids, terpenoids and alkaloids are considered as the characteristic and bioactive constituents. The crude extracts and the isolated metabolites of these medicinal plants have exhibited some in vitro and in vivo pharmacological effects, including antimicrobial, hepatoprotection, anti-inflammatory, antiasthmatic, immunomodulation, anti-diabetic, anticholelithogenic, as well as function on central nervous system, etc . Conclusions The extensive literature survey reveals Litsea species to be a group of important medicinal plants used for the ethnomedical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, inflammatory disorders, and microbial infection in TCM. Pharmacological investigations have supported the use of some Litsea species in the traditional medicines. In addition, further researches targeting individual ingredients responsible for the pharmacological effects, as well as their mechanisms of action are necessary. The outcome of these studies will further support the therapeutic potential of the genus Litsea , and provide convincing evidences to its future clinical applications in modern medicine.

By using the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and linear discriminant analysis (LDA), logistic discriminant analysis (Logistic-DA), principal component analysis-linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA), partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), infrared spectra of 60 kinds of plant extract of Chinese traditional medicine were analyzed and the identification and evaluation of characteristics of the regional markers associated with cold and heat nature were studied. Results indicated that LDA and SVM are suitable for the recognition model of water extract infrared spectral data, LDA is suitable for the identification model of anhydrous ethanol extract infrared spectral data, SVM is suitable for the identification model of chloroform extract infrared spectral data, while petroleum ether extract group recognition effect is not ideal. According to the suitable characteristic parameters identification model, data were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, and parameters and resistance characteristics of the traditional Chinese drug composition can be obtained. Regional characteristics of these two parameters can be used to identify drug ingredients, and can also be used to indicate different degrees of resistance characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. To establish signature pattern recognition model of cold-hot nature of herbal medicine.High performance capillary electrophoresis fingerprints of 60 kinds of herbal medicine (30 kinds of cold, 30 of hot) were established, features of wavelength were screened, 6 analysis methods such as linear discriminant analysis (LDA), logistic discriminant analysis (Logistic-DA), principal component and linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA), partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) were used to establish and evaluate recognition model of cold-hot nature after data processing.SVM was proved to be a suitable means of recognition model of herbal medicine cold-hot nature based on data of HPCE fingerprints. Characteristic parameters of nature could be screened according to theoretical spectra signature of nature model, the characteristic regions of components of herbs with cold-heat nature could be identified in the HPCE fingerprint. The characteristic parameters of cold-hot nature were the identifying coefficient for specific retention time of the theoretical spectra of recognition model, identification coefficients greater than zero were for the cold marker, while that less than zero for the hot marker.The results imply that HPCE is a feasible and effective means for identification of cold-hot nature of Traditional Chinese medicine.

To study the biotransformation of cycloartan-24-ene-1alpha,2alpha, 3beta-triol isolated from myrrh and find new antitumor bioactive cycloartane-type derivatives.Fourteen microbial strains were cultured in potato medium at 27.8 degrees C for 7 days. The strain of Penicillium janthinellum was selected for preparative transform assay, and cultured in potato medium at 27.8 degrees C for 10 days. The medium was extracted by EtOAc, and then EtOAc layer was purified by the silica gel column chromatography. The product was structurally elucidated by MS and NMR spectra, and their anti-proliferative effects against human prostate cancer PC3 and DU145 cells were evaluated using MTT assay.The substrate was transformed to two new hydroxyl substituted triterpenoids, with a yield of 21.15%; The products displayed anti-proliferative effect against PC3 and DU145 cells with IC50 values of 14.5 micromol/L and 27.8 micromol/L, respectively.Cycloartane-type triterpenoid can be bio-transformed by Penicillium janthinellum, and leading to the isolation of two new hydroxyl substituted derivatives.

A series of 4-hydroxybenzene acrylic acid derivatives were designed and synthesized based on the ferulic acid of natural active ingredients. The tested compound 5a, 5f and 6a have significant anti-inflammatory activity with suppression rates of 45.29%, 44.75% and 24.11%, respectively, compared with that of indomethacin, and their cardiac toxicity was not observed. The structure-function relationship shows that the p-hydroxyl group on the α-position benzene ring, particularly if acetylated, contributes to the considerable anti-inflammatory activity; that the carboxyl group on the double bond, if esterified, also contributes to the anti-inflammatory activity; that the p-methylsulfonyl group on the other benzene ring, whose introduction is due to the COX-2 selectivity, also contributes to anti-inflammatory activity surprisingly.
