Background and Objectives: Adult eczema (AE) has been reported to have a poor quality of life (qoL). Auricular acupuncture (AA) is a method that has been studied a lot recently. Our study is to determine the effects of combining AA and modern medication in the relief of symptoms and the improvement in qoL in AE. Methods: A single-blind randomized study on 65 AE at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City Branch 3; was randomized into an auricular acupuncture (AA) group and a Sham acupuncture (SA) group. All AA group patients will receive AA at Lung, Shenmen, Endocrine, and Adrenal points. The score of scoring atopic dermatitis (SCORAD) and the score of dermatology life quality index (DLQI) were compared in two groups before and after treatments. Results: There were 33 patients in the AA group and 32 patients in the SA group. After 2 weeks, in the SA group, the SCORAD score of 46.4 ± 1.3 decreased to 28.2 ± 1.2, compared with the AA group’s SCORAD score of 47.5 ± 1.5 decreased to 24 ± 1.3; the DLQI score of 14.7 decreased to 7.6, compared with the intervention group DLQI score of 15, reduced to 5.7. The difference in improving the SCORAD score and the DLQI score between the two groups was statistically significant. No patient had any adverse events during the study. Conclusions: Combining auricular acupuncture Lung, Shenmen, Endocrine, Adrenal points, and modern medication treatment may relieve effectively symptoms and improve the QoL in AE.

International audience; We study the stability of the semi-discrete central scheme for the linear damped wave equation with boundary. We exhibit a sufficient condition on the boundary to guarantee the uniform stability of the initial boundary value problem for relaxation system independent of stiffness of the source term and of the space step. The boundary is approximated using a summation-by-parts method and the stiff stability is proved by energy estimates and Laplace transform. We also investigate if the condition is also necessary, following the continuous case studied by Xin and Xu (2000).; Nous étudions la stabilité du schéma semi-discret centré pour l'équation des ondes linéaire amortie posé sur un demi-espace. Nous dégageons une condition suffisante portant sur la condition de bord, pour la stabilité du problème semi-discret avec donnée initiale et donnée de bord, ceci de manière uniforme par rapport à la raideur du terme source de relaxation ainsi qu'au pas d'espace. La discrétisation de la condition de bord employée provient de l'approche SBP et l'uniforme stabilité s'obtient par l'utilisation de méthodes d'énergie et de la transformée de Laplace. Nous examinons également au travers d'expériences numériques le caractère nécessaire de la condition retenue, de sorte à confronter notre résultat à l'étude de Xin et Xu (2000) portant sur le cas continu.

In this study, biogenic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized by a green approach using an aqueous extract from Codonopsis pilosula (CP) roots as a reducing and stabilizing agent. The formation of CP-AgNPs and CP-AuNPs was confirmed and optimized by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The CP-AgNPs and CP-AuNPs obtained under optimum conditions of metal ion concentration, reaction temperature, and reaction time were characterized by high-resolution transition electron microscopy (HR-TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) analysis, field-emission scan electron microscopy (FE-SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. It has been found that the biosynthesized CP-AgNPs and CP-AuNPs were formed in spherical shape with an average size of 10±2.5 nm and 20±3.2 nm, respectively. The biosynthesized metallic nanoparticles exhibited selective bacterial activity against three bacterial strains including two Gram-positive bacteria of Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus and one Gram-negative bacteria of Escherichia coli. Meanwhile, there was no antibacterial activity detected toward Gram-negative Salmonella enteritidis. CP-AgNPs and CP-AuNPs also manifested an excellent catalytic performance in the reduction of 1,4-dinitrobenzene, 2-nitrophenol, 3-nitrophenol, and 4-nitrophenol.

A novel nanocomposite consisting of nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) and sodium nitrite (NaNO2) was synthesized and its dielectric properties were investigated at the temperature range of 20–170 °C and at the frequency range of 10−3–106 Hz under low electric fields (1 V cm−1). The obtained results manifest a reduction in the phase transition temperature of the synthesized composite (110 °C) compared to those of bulk NaNO2 (164 °C) due to the tilting action of the depolarizing field on the polarization for NaNO2 inclusions resulting from the presence of the bound charges on their surfaces. The present work is devoted to study on influences of silicon dioxide nanoparticles (SiO2) on structure and phase transition of a classical ferroelectric of triglycine sulfate (TGS) by synthesizing a composite containing SiO2 and TGS at different composition weight ratios. Particle size analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques were utilized to charaterize the synthesized composite. The experiments for investigation of phase transition were conducted from 20 to 120°C under a weak electric field (1 V.cm−1) at 1 kHz. The results revealed an expansion of ferroelectric phase of TGS by 15–55°C with increasing the SiO2 content. Besides, an additional phase transition point which is characteristic for the bulk clusters of TGS was found at low content of SiO2. The detected anomalies were discussed thoroughly based on the interaction between components in the composite.

In this study, a novel ferroelectric composite consisting of triglycine sulfate and cellulose nanoparticles at different weight composition ratios was successfully synthesized. A comparative study on structure and electrophysical properties for dried and wet composite samples was carried out. The measurements of electrophysical parameters were performed from 10 to 120 °C under a weak electric field with an amplitude of 1 V cm−1 at low and infra-low frequencies (10−3–103 Hz) under different relative humidities of 0, 30, 60, 80, and 100%. The characterization results showed a significant impact of moisture on crystallinity and features of functional groups in the composite. Besides, phase transition temperature of the composite increased by 3 to 63 °C higher than those for single crystal of triglycine sulfate (+ 49 °C) in dependence on cellulose content in the composite. Along with a significant increase in dielectric constant, dielectric loss, and dielectric dispersion in the composite due to high conductivity caused by moisture, the water molecules on sample surface led to the appearance of addition peaks in temperature dependences of dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent in the initial stage of heating. All the anomalies can be explained by the strong interaction through hydrogen bonds between triglycine sulfate and cellulose components as well as between these components and water molecules in the composite.

In this work, nanosized calcium deficient hydroxyapatite (nCDHA) was synthesized by the precipitation method, and then utilized as an adsorbent for removal of Fe (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) and Cr (VI) ions from aqueous solutions after characterizing it by various techniques as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and BET method. A possible structure of synthesized nCDHA was proposed. The adsorption study indicated that the adsorption equilibrium is well fitted with Langmuir isotherm model with the maximum adsorption capacities followed the order of Fe (II) > Cu (II) > Ni (II) > Cr (VI) with the values of 137.23, 128.02, 83.19 and 2.92 mg/g, respectively. The ion-exchange mechanism was dominant for the adsorption of metal ions onto nCDHA at initial metal concentrations lower than 0.01 mol/L. Along with the ion-exchange mechanism, there was an additional precipitation occurred on the surface of nCDHA in the case of Fe (II) and Cu (II) at initial concentrations higher than 0.01 mol/L.

This article is an account of the NABUCO project achieved during the summer camp CEMRACS 2019 devoted to geophysical fluids and gravity flows. The goal is to construct finite difference approximations of the transport equation with nonzero incoming boundary data that achieve the best possible convergence rate in the maximum norm. We construct, implement and analyze the so-called inverse Lax-Wendroff procedure at the incoming boundary. Optimal convergence rates are obtained by combining sharp stability estimates for extrapolation boundary conditions with numerical boundary layer expansions. We illustrate the results with the Lax-Wendroff and O3 schemes.
