We investigate the dc resistivity and Hall effect of the quasi-two-dimensional organic materials κ–(ET)2X, where X=Ag2(CN)3 and B(CN)4 and compare them with the results for X=Cu2(CN)3. All three compounds are considered to be quantum-spin-disordered Mott insulators. Despite high similarities in chemical composition and crystal structure, large differences in the dc resistivity and Hall coefficient are found. While around room temperature the dc transport properties are dominantly determined by the strength of the electron correlations, upon reducing the temperature, dc transport happens by hopping due to inherent disorder. The most disordered compound with X=Cu2(CN)3 turns out to have the lowest dc resistivity and the highest charge carrier density, i.e., in the phase diagram it is located closest to the metal-insulator transition. The least disordered compound with X=B(CN)4 shows the highest resistivity and the lowest carrier density, i.e., lies farthest from the metal-insulator transition. We explain such counterintuitive behavior within the theory of Mott-Anderson localization as a consequence of disorder-induced localized states within the correlation gap.

The Mott insulator $��$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Ag$_2$(CN)$_3$ forms a highly-frustrated triangular lattice of $S=1/2$ dimers with a possible quantum-spin-liquid state. Our experimental and numerical studies reveal the emergence of a slight charge imbalance between crystallographically inequivalent sites, relaxor dielectric response and hopping dc transport. In a broader perspective we conclude that the universal properties of strongly-correlated charge-transfer salts with spin liquid state are an anion-supported valence band and cyanide-induced quasi-degenerate electronic configurations in the relaxed state. The generic low-energy excitations are caused by charged domain walls rather than by fluctuating electric dipoles. They give rise to glassy dynamics characteristic of dimerized Mott insulators, including the sibling compound $��$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Cu$_2$(CN)$_3$., 5 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Physical Review B Rapid Communications

A 47-year-old woman with previous history of transvaginal uterectomy 4 years before, presented to another hospital complaining of pollakisuria and pain during micturition. She was treated with antibiotics, but symptoms failed to resolve. So she referred to our department for investigations and treatments. On cystoscopy, there was a large mass with edematous mucosa in the anterior wall of bladder. Magnetic resonance image demonstrated an 8 cm irregularly-formed cystic mass which occupied dome of bladder. Resection of the mass including partial cystectomy was performed. This cystic mass contained retained 3 silk sutures surrounded by green color pus. Microscopic examination revealed inflammatory granulations without any malignancy. Because of the previous history, she was diagnosed as paravesical suture abscess due to infected silk materials at transvaginal uterectomy. Paravesical suture abscess is very rare complication of inguinal herniorrhaphy and mimics bladder or urachal neoplasm. In review of previously reported cases, the symotoms were predominantly urological. For avoiding unnecessary examinations and treatments, it is important to consider paravesical suture abscess in cases with histories of inguinal herniorrhaphy or other intra-pelvic operations. To our knowledge, there is no case report of paravesical abscess formation associated with transvaginal uterectomy and the present case is the first one for report.

The preliminary results of a multi-institutional prospective randomized study of the prophylaxis of superficial bladder cancer using epirubicin (protocol NUORG SBT-003) are reported. The subjects were 129 patients with untreated superficial bladder cancer (≦T1b, ≦G2) who were randomized into 2 groups: a transurethral resection (TUR)-alone group (63 patients) and a TUR+intravesical epirubicin (20 mg/40 ml, 30 times/2 years) group (66 patients). The nonrecurrence rate observed in the epirubicin group was significantly higher than that seen in the control group. To unify the pathological diagnosis, a central pathology laboratory (CPL) was set up for extramural review. The correspondence of the pathological diagnosis of TUR-Bt specimens between the CPL and the local pathology laboratory (LPL) was 70.5% in grading and 51.9% in staging. There was a tendency for overdiagnosis by the LPL for both the grade and the stage of tumors. However, differing interpretations by pathologists seem to exert little influence on the nonrecurrence rate at interim analysis. Further observation will be necessary to clarify the prophylactic efficacy of low-dose, long-term periodic intravesical epirubicin instillation and the influence of the disagreement in pathological findings between the CPL and the LPL on the analysis of the results.

Se propone estudiar la problemática de los pobladores del desierto del noreste de Mendoza, dedicados a la cría de caprinos, en el afán por interpretar y transformar la realidad de estos pobladores. Incluye metodologías interdisciplinarias de proyectos referidos a: profundización del conocimiento de la problemática socio-ambiental y de las necesidades y aspiraciones de los pobladores, cuantificación de la oferta forrajera y su incremento, posibilidades de revegetación con gramíneas peretines nativas, uso adecuado de los bosques de algarrobo, producción caprina diversificada, implementación de huertas familiares y la producción local de energia eléctrica, a partir de energía solar. Los pobladores viven en puestos aislados y por lo general carecen de energía eléctrica, agua potable y tecnologías apropiadas. Existen problemas de salud con características propias, entre ellos patologías orales que son evaluadas y atendidas para lograr la sustentabilidad de la salud bucal. Se contempla una participación interactiva, en la cual la comunidad comparte el análisis, las decisiones y el desarrollo de las acciones. Proposes study problematic of the populations of the desert of the northeast of Mendoza, dedicated to goat raising, in the anxiety for to interpret and to transform the reality of this populations. Includes methodologies interdisciplinaries of projects referred to: deepening the knowledge of the socio-environmental matter and of the needs and aspirations of the inhabitants; qnantification of the forage on offer and its increase, revegetation possibilities with perennial native grasses; adequate use of the Prosopis forests; diversified goat production; possibility of implementing family orchards and the local production of electricity from solar energy. These people live in isolated "puestos" and generally lack electricity, water potable and technologies appropriates. Thy also undergo health problems with their own characteristics, among them buccal pathologies that the assessed and taken cure of in order to attain buccal health sustainability.
