Since the World Health Organization initially declared the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, new issues have arisen in English language teaching (ELT). Although task-based language teaching (TBLT) and task-supported language teaching (TSLT) have received significant academic attention and recognition in traditional classroom settings, there is insufficient research on their effects on students' L2 motivational self system and speaking self-efficacy in an online emergency EFL classroom. Therefore, this mixed-methods study aims at investigating the impacts of TBLT, TSLT, and PPP on the L2 motivational self system and speaking self-efficacy of students at Hanoi University (HANU). After collecting 117 questionnaires from three English-major speaking courses and performing a group interview with 12 students, the researchers examined the quantitative and qualitative data using one-way ANOVA, sentiment analysis, and content analysis. The findings revealed that task-based instruction was more successful than the PPP approach in increasing student speaking self-efficacy and L2 motivational self system in the online emergency EFL speaking classroom. Moreover, teachers should pay attention to five elements related to the application of PPP, TBLT, and TSLT, including the teacher's role, time allocation, content, group work and peer support, and pre-task/activity preparation, which influence learners' perceived motivation and speaking self-efficacy.

BackgroundInvasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) typically occurs in immunocompromised individuals. Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) patients are typically characterized by fever, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia. These patients typically present with dysregulation of cellular and humoral immunity, which may predispose them to IPA. Our study aimed to identify risk factors for SFTS-associated invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (SAPA) and evaluate its associated prognostic impact.MethodsWe conducted a cohort study between January 2017 and December 2022 in a tertiary hospital in Wuhan City, China. All SFTS patients hospitalized in our department who formally consented were divided into a SAPA group and a non-SAPA group according to whether they were coinfected with aspergillosis or not. The independent risk factors for the SAPA group were determined by multivariate logistic regression. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to assess the statistical value of parameters to predict SAPA patients. The survival analysis was carried out using the Kaplan–Meier (KM) method.ResultsOf the 269 hospitalized SFTS patients enrolled in the study, 118 (43.87%) cases were diagnosed with SAPA with an average age of 65.71 ± 9.7 years. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that age, neurological complications, serum severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) RNA loads, the white blood cell (WBC) count, platelet (PLT) count, albumin (ALB) and globulin (GLB) concentrations, and cardiac troponin I (cTNI) were complementary risk factors for the development of IPA in SFTS patients. The risk score is calculated as 5 times age, plus 6 times neurological complications, plus 10 times RNA (log), plus 5 times WBC, minus 5 times PLT, minus 5 times ALB, plus 5 times GLB, and plus 6 times cTNI. Purpose – In an era of global competition, firms need to collaborate for long-term benefits. Researchers have investigated the linkages between supply chain collaboration (SCC), customer satisfaction and loyalty. However, little attention has been paid to these linkages in the home electronics sector. This study attempts to investigate the impacts of SCC on firms' competitive advantage, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in the home electronics sector of Vietnam. Design/methodology/approach – Besides aggregation of literature review, the authors conducted an experimental study with a sample of 300 customers who bought household electronic appliances in the first six months of 2021 in Hanoi city, Vietnam. In this study, structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyse the hypotheses. Findings – The findings indicate that SCC has a positive impact on competitive advantage, increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty in the home electronics sector. Evidence also revealed that competitive advantage can be enhanced through information sharing, decision synchronisation and incentive alignment. Originality/value – This study can be applied to foster a more effective collaboration approach amongst supply chain members in the household electronic appliances sector, which, in turn, will increase competitiveness, customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Air pollution is a growing environmental problem worldwide. Compelling epidemiological evidence shows that people spend more than 80% of their time indoors, and extensive studies have shown that indoor air pollution has an equal or greater impact on health when compared. with the surrounding environment. This article determines that the level of indoor fine dust pollution with PM2.5 and PM10 is quite high and changes over the seasons. Winter has the highest concentration, specifically PM2.5 accounting for 54g/m3, PM10 accounting for 97g/m3. The model for treating indoor dust with negative ions initially showed positive results with an efficiency of 70-84.8% at a device height of 75cm. This is the basis for further detailed research on fine dust treatment with negative ions.

AbstractTraditional craft villages are becoming more popular as cultural tourism destinations since they preserve and represent indigenous people’s culture and lifestyles while also contributing significantly to the economy. Along with the current surge in visitors, traditional villages must improve service quality components to strengthen their attractiveness and competitiveness. To analyze the quality of tourism services given by the places, the study was done in Da Nang, a city in Vietnam’s central region with various unique traditional craft villages. In this study, the research paradigm “Importance—Performance Analysis” (IPA) was used and converted with “SERVQUAL.” A total of 120 tourists who had previously visited Da Nang’s traditional craft villages were surveyed. The findings suggest that tourists place a high value on indices showing the importance of tourism service quality, but they undervalue performance. Overall, the article advises and proposes four group solutions based on priority levels in order to improve and further expand the quality of services in traditional craft villages in Da Nang city.

The present study was conducted to select Streptomyces strains that exhibited characteristics of probiotics for application in aquaculture. Streptomyces were isolated from soil and sediment samples collected from various habitats such as riverside, shrimp ponds, pangasius ponds, mangrove forests, or estuaries along the coast of Vietnam. Two strains of Streptomyces (AG12.2 and ND10.1) were selected due to (1) their potent antimicrobial activity against common pathogens that cause serious diseases in shrimp and pangasius such as E. ictaluri, A. hydophila, V. harveyi, V. parahaemolyticus, and (2) their superior ability to produce several extracellular enzymes that strongly hydrolyze organic compounds such as starch, CMC, and skimmed milk, compared to other strains. AG12.2 and ND10.1 can tolerate salinity from 0 ppt to 5 ppt and pH from 3 to 8; however, their growth is most vigorous at salt concentrations and pH between 0 ppt to 2 ppt, and 7.2 to 8, respectively. In vivo evaluation on L. vannamei in this study shows that shrimp that were fed with diets containing AG12.2 and ND10.1 had WG (%) increasing by 1.59 times and 1.61 times respectively, DGW (g/day) increasing by 1.64 times, and FCR decreasing by 1.30 times and 1.35 times respectively. The shrimp treated with AG12.2 and ND10.1 were then challenged with V. parahaemolyticus, resulting in a survival rate increase of 3.9 times and 3.71 times, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strains AG12.2 and ND10.1 belong to Streptomyces kunmingensis and Streptomyces angustmyceticus, respectively. The findings of the present study led to the conclusion that Streptomyces kunmingensis AG12.2 and Streptomyces angustmyceticus ND10.1 are excellent candidates for producing beneficial probiotics for aquaculture. Objective: To evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract using both in vitro and in vivo models. Methods: Lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages were treated with an ethanol extract of Polygonatum kingianum rhizomes at different concentrations to determine nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. For in vivo study, Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was further investigated for its antiinflammatory effect in a mouse model with collagen antibody-induced arthritis. Phytochemical study of Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was also performed. Results: Saponins (142 mg/g total yield) was the main component in the Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract. 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide, (E,E)-9-oxooctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and 3-(2’-hydroxy-4’-methoxy-benzyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-chroman-4-one were isolated from the extract. This prospective observational study aimed to assess the impact of behavioral therapy on dysphagia in patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing nasogastric tube feeding. The study was conducted between June 2020 and May 2022 at the Neurological Center of Bach Mai Hospital, Vietnam, with a sample size of 230 patients divided into two groups: a normal and a behavioral therapy group. The normal therapy group received routine care and treatment based on standard protocols, while the behavioral therapy group underwent daily swallowing exercises for approximately 60 minutes. The Gugging Swallowing Screen (GUSS) was utilized to screen individuals with dysphagia, and the difference-in-differences (DID) method was adopted to estimate the effect of behavioral therapy on dysphagia patients. The study concluded that behavioral therapy improved dysphagia in patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing nasogastric tube feeding. Phytochemical study on the methanol extract of the stems and leaves of Kadsura induta led to the isolation of six dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans, including three new compounds named kadsindutalignans A–C (1–3), and three known ones, heteroclitalignan B (4), kadsuphilin C (5) and kadsulignan E (6). Their structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analyses, including HRESIMS, 1D- (1H NMR and 13C NMR), 2D-NMR (HSQC, HMBC, 1H-1H COSY and NOESY), and experimental circular dichroism (CD) spectra. All the isolates inhibited NO production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 cells with IC50 values in the range from 5.67 ± 0.54 µM to 38.19 ± 2.03 µM, compared to that of the positive control of NG-monomethyl-L-arginine acetate (L-NMMA) with an IC50 value of 8.90 ± 0.48 µM. Interestingly, the new compound 2 showed potential inhibition of NO production with an IC50 value of 5.67 ± 0.54 µM, which was higher than that of the positive control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
