The entry of immigrants into their incoming country as well as their subsequent spread over the country's territory occurs through processes that have a strong spatial bias. The specific migration groups (here defined as the set of immigrants with the same country of origin) tend to reveal different levels and patterns of their spatial concentrations. The understanding of these similarities and dissimilarities in spatial behaviour is important task from both academic and policy perspective. This thesis has a quantitative character and it is based on the study of "spatial relatedness" of migration groups, which is defined as a rate, how much do given migration groups concentrate into the same regions. The thesis is based on a simple assumption that the spatial relatedness mirrors mutual proximity or similarity between these groups in other respects (e.g. cultural or economical). Plenty of datasets describing spatial distribution of migrants within 32 territorial systems on various scales (from global to local) are analysed. Hasman: Geografie příjmových nerovnoměrností ve světě 4 Abstract This thesis concerns with the comparison of income inequality within countries and with the analysis of income inequality determinants. Its main objectives are to: (1) examine the problem of international comparability of income inequality data and put together database with comparable data, (2) describe international differences in the level of income inequality and verify the hypothesis that there is a significant degree of similarity among countries within macroregions of the world, (3) discuss various explanations for international differences in income inequality, and (4) examine these determinants by cross-country analysis. The issue of international comparability of data has usually been only insufficiently dealt with, what can lead to highly misleading results when comparing levels of inequality across countries. The thesis overviews the most important methodical problems and documents their typical neglect on two notable examples of CIA - The World Factbook database and the Human Development Report database. This master thesis aims to present a new theoretical concept called the party effect. The party effect describes the situation when the voter gives preferential votes according to which party within the coalition nominated the candidate. This effect is examined in the case of the parliamentarian elections in the Czech Republic in 2021. Thanks to the success of two pre-electoral coalitions, these elections represent an ideal opportunity to analyse the party effect within the coalition candidate list. The author is not aware that this aspect of preferential voting within pre-electoral coalitions has been addressed before. In addition to presenting the concept, the aim of the thesis is also to propose a methodology for its measurement. This methodology is subsequently applied for empirical verification of the presence and strength of the party effect in the individual parties of the SPOLU coalition and the PIRÁTI a STAROSTONÉ coalition. In the analytical part of the work, it was found that the party effect is present in all investigated parties. The strength of the effect varies not only across parties but also across space. It is primarily a methodological work, the goal of which is not a detailed analysis of each individual finding.

This master thesis belongs thematically to the research of long-term trends of spatio-temporal differentiation in the Czech Republic. Within this theme, it focuses on several objectives. The first of them concerns the search for appropriate scale levels and region types for time-space analyzes of unemployment in the Czech Republic and the definition of as many homogeneous regions as possible in terms of the unemployment rate. Subsequently, the work at the appropriate level defined in this way focuses on the next goal, which is to reveal and describe the development of seasonality in unemployment in the Czech Republic. As part of this goal, the effort is to determine the significance of the phenomenon of seasonality in unemployment, its development in space and time, and to define groups of regions that are more or less affected by this phenomenon. One of the partial goals is also to reveal the development of spatial differentiation in unemployment in the last few years. The work uses detailed monthly data on the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic at the municipal level for the years 2002-2021 published by the Ministry of the Interior. The microbrewery industry is one of the most dynamically developing sectors in the last decade. The entire microbrewery industry has grown as a response to globalized beer production with unified flavors. It is trying to develop the beer industry with global trends. This makes microbreweries an interesting object of observation, as their production often cannot do without foreign ingredients. The connection to global production networks is thus interesting even in such a small industry, which first emerged as a counterpoint to these trends in the world of the globalized beer industry. In the course of my research, I collected data on the origin of raw materials from selected microbreweries, which I approached, and then conducted semi-structured interviews with them. The breweries with the highest ratings on Untappd, the largest beer rating site in the world, were selected. Out of the 16 microbreweries contacted, 9 took part in the research. The results of the research show that virtually no microbrewery can do without foreign ingredients. However, there were differences between the breweries in the degree of their integration. The thesis examines the success of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the example of 46 countries among least developed countries in the world. Specifically, the thesis focuses on SDGs dedicated to health - SDG 3.1. and SDG 3.2. and their indicators. Based on the research questions, key strategies for achieving the goals in the monitored group of countries are presented. The following chapter is an evaluation of selected parameters and their indicators. Six most successful countries are selected based on the last research question (the countries with the most progress in the worst-performing indicator). Their example shows the established interventions that have helped the countries the most. The motivation for this focus of work is the topicality and lack of other documentation of this topic. The SDGs are now in their midst, and few literature analyzes SDG 3, which I have chosen in the least developed group of the world. The text is based on the findings of the SDGs and their context in the monitored countries. For the needs of the thesis, a lot of data from various data sources were processed, from which research questions were evaluated. Analysis of Migration Flows in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2019 Abstract The aim of this thesis will be the analysis of migration flows in sub-Saharan Africa in 2019. Based on the research, we can state what factors most influence spatial migration in sub- Saharan Africa. The basic factors are determined based on the study of the literature and are clearly divided into cultural, political, socio-economic and geographical factors. Fifty-four of the most intensive migration flows in this region are subsequently analyzed. Based on the characteristics of the source and destination countries, we will get an answer to the questions of which factors influence migration flows the most and which influence them the least. The result is a confirmation of the importance of mainly cultural and geographical factors, for example a common religion, an official language or common borders and distance. A smaller influence was shown for socio-economic and political factors, especially for the degree of freedom or the poverty index and the smallest influence for common historical ties. This thesis examines voting behaviour in the United States presidential election between 2012 and 2020, focusing mainly on how the populist radical right influenced the results. It therefore compares the results of the 2012 election, when Mitt Romney, who is considered a traditional Republican, ran for president, with those of the 2016 and 2020 elections, when Donald Trump, a representative of the populist radical right, applied for office. The thesis draws on the concepts of national nostalgia, cleavage theory and describes the characteristics of American nativism. Through a two-level binary logistic regression, influence variables are assessed at the individual and contextual levels, which are taken to be the US states. The results reveal a very important influence of the attitudes to unauthorized migration on support for Donald Trump in particular. It was also found that American society has become significantly radicalised during Trump's presidency. The demographic characteristics of the electorate were projected onto attitudinal questions about immigration, and these in turn conditioned their affection for Donald Trump. The presented thesis examines impacts of neoliberal policies on agriculture in the developing countries using the example of Zambia and Angola. It is based on a comparision of two most similar countries, which have been different in their approach to implementation of neoliberal policies. Another objective of this thesis is also the spatial transformation of Zambia's agriculture as a result of implementation of policy conditions in structural adjustment programmes. The focus of the paper is motivated by lack of similar approaches in research of neoliberal agriculture policies. This thesis also analyszes research of neoliberalism of agriculture and food regime theory, which has already been carried out. A large amount of data was compiled and processed from several data sources, and utilised to evaluate research questions. Research has confirmed decline in food crops production and yields in Zambia as a result of neoliberal policies, which could threaten the food sovereignty of the country. The bachelor's thesis deals with the distribution regions of industrial breweries in the Hradec Králové region. The focus of the thesis is relevant mainly due to the fact that breweries are not studied in this way. Each brewery has its own area of operation, in which its products are distributed. The distribution regions are described in the work on the basis of the processing of available quantitative data, where the distribution areas of the breweries are examined on the basis of the occurrence of their beer brands in restaurant facilities. Furthermore, the work aims to identify the factors that shape the distribution areas. These factors are examined in the thesis on the basis of questionnaires with leading representatives of the breweries and other sources providing information about the analysed breweries. Results show that spatial areas and distribution strategies in the analysed breweries are influenced mainly by the structure of production and the shape of regions where the research brewery is located.

Factors of education in Africa and their regional differentiation Abstract Education is one of the primary driving forces of development and its importance in the poor countries is undoubtable. The aim of the diploma thesis is to identify the most significant factors affecting education in African states and to analyse them by using of the additional sources and data. The theoretical part points out the complexity in the education and introduces selected approaches in the education studies. The empirical part consists of the research of summary reports by UNDP (MDGs) and UNESCO (EFA) for countries with available reports in English; and analysis of particular factors connected of discussion with another scientific publications. These factors were classified on the basis of literature, to macro and micro factors first, subsequently according to the meaning. The most mentioned factors in the summary reports were school factors (school expenditures, teacher quality), political and economic factors (poverty) or sociocultural factors (women status). 7 Abstract The main purpose of this thesis is to provide a critical view of the issue of measuring poverty as it is not an exception that sometimes the interpretation of the data of this phenomenon is interpreted very inaccurately. There are a lot of indicators that measure poverty by a very different methodology, which can also significantly influence the subsequent interpretation, or national comparison. One of the main issues associated with measuring poverty is the fact that it is very difficult to measure in various parts of the world. The most important sources of data on poverty at international level were examined and their pros and cons were evaluated. The indicators were subsequently mutually confronted in order to explain how the geographical distribution of poverty depends on selected indicator. The result of this thesis is a comprehensive review of to which issues attention should be paid to interpreting poverty from available data. For example, indicators based on the median income or national poverty line are not internationally comparable, although this is often done. Countries such as Ukraine and Turkey are the countries with one of the lowest rates of poverty according to these indices, which certainly may not correspond to the actual level of this phenomenon. In the case of Czechia, with their unprecedented development, microbrewing became one of the most dynamic industries. Characteristics of microbreweries are becoming the opposite of the globalized industry branches, but they are also becoming the supplement of them, with typical stress on local and regional level. Therefore, microbreweries are often object of study in cultural and economic geography as it enables to test concepts and approaches coming from these two sub- disciplines of geography. The main aims of this thesis is to present and examine factors which lead to the founding of microbreweries and their localization, which are analysed on the representative sample of microbreweries coming from Pardubice region and Prague. Moreover, next aim of the thesis is to find out, how much microbrewing boom could be explained by concepts of neolocalism and glocalization. Results of the research showed three common factors, such as passion for beer, tradition, and expanding an existing business activity. But also several individual factors leading to founding the microbreweries were found. Analytical research of a migrant's presence in a certain location on election outcomes of populist-nationalist parties is a relatively new phenomena in the field of electoral geography. Media and political interest in migration and refugees has risen rapidly in the last few years and offers a broad opportunity for relevant scientific studies. This thesis stems from existing literature, that have studied such relation and focuses on the case of The Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura Party (SPD) and on the possible influence of the share of migrants on SPD's electoral support at two different scale levels (municipalities with authorized municipal offices and individual municipalities) during the 2017 parliamentary elections. Analysing the most important groups of migrants and additionally a formed group of migrants coming from countries with either dominant or significant Muslim native population can be considered as innovative. The main goal of this thesis is to find out whether there are regional differences in the perception of immigrants by students of the upper-secondary schools in the Czech Republic and to find out which factors can affect the perception of immigrants and their regional differentiation. Considering the actual situation in the world, the topic of this thesis is very up-to-date. It is necessary to be carefully prepared for the increase of the international migration to ensure smoother integration of migrants in the concerned countries. Geography of recent migration wave - from where, where to and why do refugees come? Abstract This bachelor thesis aims to find out what factors affect refugees when selecting an asylum destination country during the recent refugee and migrant wave. Potentially important factors are first selected on the basis of literature studies, and consequently their significance is quantitatively tested on the most important refugee flows. For clarity, individual factors are divided into four groups: cultural, economic, geographical and political factors. The analyzed set consists of paired data for the 20 most important source countries from different world regions and 31 destination countries that are members of the European Union, or the European Free Trade Association. The results confirmed the importance of colonial ties and of the same language, but some policy factors, such as social benefits in destination country, have also been shown to be important. The impact of economic factors was not confirmed as expected, but it was found neither for geographic factors, nor for migrant networks. The bachelor thesis targets on the topic of carpooling. Under the term of a carpool-journey is understood an alternative to traditional means of transport. This topic has been mentioned in Czechia only marginally and has not been further researched. The thesis aims to get a closer look on carpooling and to cover it as a self-standing complex topic. Main aim is to define the term of carpooling, determine its types and in author's own questionnaire to identify basic principles which are specific for student's carpooling between Prague and the town of Písek. Outcomes of the questionnaire are discussed with literature. It is possible to divide carpooling into internal and external. Furthermore, it can be divided into formal and informal carpooling. The determining factor for a working carpool journey is motivation of participants which forms the carpool-journey's characteristics. Among others it is mainly saving money, saving time and comfort. Main barrier for carpooling is sharing a car with an unknown person. The thesis is an entrance gate into the topic of carpooling and there are a lot of further research possibilities.

ANALYSIS OF SURNAMES IN CHRÁST (NEAR PLZEŇ): GEOGRAPHICAL ASPECTS Abstract This thesis analyses surnames as geographical data. It focuses on a case study of Chrást municipality (near Plzeň). In addition to a descriptive analysis of the set of local surnames, it uses surname data to analyse relatedness between local population and populations of other Czech municipalities and examines the isolation by distance hypothesis. Some parallels between biological relatedness and surname surname relatedness are also exemplified. The results confirm a significant impact of distance on surname differentiation.
