1. Effect of dietary intervention on intestinal flora in diabetes mellitus rats

Abstract

Objective The aim of this study was to observe the changes of glucolipid metabolic indexes and intestinal flora structure in high-fat diet combined with streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats, and the effect of lowfat diet on their intervention. Methods The rats fed with normal diet and high-fat diet were used as the control and model groups, respectively, and were subjected to low-fat diet intervention for 8 weeks. Body weights of all rats were recorded, orbital blood was taken from the rats to detect glucolipid metabolism indexes, and feces were retained for the detection of intestinal microbial diversity before and after the start of the experiment. Results In the experimental group, weight and LDL-C decreased significantly after the low-fat diet intervention, and the difference was statistically significant (P0.05). The phylum Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria were elevated in diabetic rats, and the TM7 and Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio were significantly higher after low-fat diet control. The key genera in diabetic rats were Prevotella and Bacteroides, but they changed to Ruminococc and Clostridium after the low-fat diet intervention. The key pathways of low-fat diet intervention were lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, glycosaminoglycan degradation, other glycan degradation, and sphingolipid metabolis. Conclusion Low-fat diet significantly reduces body weight and alters intestinal flora structure in diabetic rats. Low-fat diet may interfere with the progression of diabetes by altering intestinal lipid metabolic pathways.

Abstract

In this note, we present perturbation analysis for the T-product based tensor singular values defined by Lu et al. First, the Cauchy's interlacing-type theorem for tensor singular values is given. Then, the inequalities about the difference between the singular values of two matrices proposed by Mirsky are extended to tensor cases. Finally, we introduce some useful inequalities for the singular values of tensor products and sums.

Abstract

This paper derives the CS decomposition for orthogonal tensors (T-CSD) and the generalized singular value decomposition for two tensors (T-GSVD) via the T-product. The structures of the two decompositions are analyzed in detail and are consistent with those for matrix cases. Then the corresponding algorithms are proposed respectively. Finally, T-GSVD can be used to give the explicit expression for the solution of tensor Tikhonov regularization. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of T-GSVD in solving image restoration problems.

Abstract

Sugar beets account for 30% of global sugar production each year, and their byproducts are an important source of bioethanol and animal feed. Sugar beet is an important cash crop in Inner Mongolia, China. To achieve high yields and sugar content, it is essential to supply nitrogen fertilizer in accordance with the growth characteristics of sugar beet, thereby enhancing the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer utilization. A two-year experiment was carried out in the experimental field of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Agricultural & Animal Husbandry Sciences. The impact of varying ratios of nitrogen-based fertilizer to topdressing on nitrate nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen levels in the 20–60 cm soil layer, as well as the activities of protease, urease, catalase, and sucrose in the 20–40 cm soil layer were investigated during the rapid leaf growth period and root and sugar growth period. Results indicated that different ratios of nitrogen-based fertilizer to topdressing significantly influenced the levels of nitrate nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen, and the activities of protease and urease in the 0–20 cm soil layer, with these effects diminishing as soil depth increased. The activities of catalase and sucrose were minimally impacted. Nitrogen was applied at 150 kg/ha during the growth period of sugar beet, according to the growth characteristics of sugar beet to maximize nitrogen utilization efficiency. Topdressing was completed with irrigation at the rapid growth stage. The nitrogen-based fertilizer to topdressing ratio of 6:4 resulted in optimal crop yield and sugar yield of sugar beet under shallow drip irrigation. Additionally, the activities of protease and urease in different soil treatments were significantly different, and the activities of protease and urease in the 0–40 cm soil layer were identified as useful soil physiological indicators for nitrogen utilization in sugar beet. Abstract

Seismic isolation structures have excellent seismic mitigation effects, but implementing isolation measures may increase the initial cost of the structure. This paper presents a method to calculate the seismic loss and assess the life-cycle cost of isolated structures, which is convenient for owners to make decisions. The life-cycle cost assessment model is divided into two parts: initial cost assessment and seismic loss assessment over life-cycle period. Among them, the assessment method of the isolation layer is proposed, including the cost assessment of isolation bearings and dampers. The assessment method of seismic loss considers direct loss, indirect loss, casualties and integrating casualties into a unified assessment system. Direct loss includes building loss, indirect loss includes rental loss, relocation loss, income loss, personal property loss and business inventory loss. The seismic loss model is associated with seismic damage probability, which is obtained through seismic vulnerability and seismic probability risk assessment. The 8-story base-isolated-reinforced concrete structure illustrates the feasibility of the life-cycle-cost assessment model. The example shows that the initial cost of the isolated structure exceeds that of the nonisolated structure, however, the rental loss, income loss, personal property loss and casualties are much lower than those of nonisolated structures. The income loss of the isolated structure is the maximum proportion in life-cycle cost, and the casualty loss is the minimum proportion in the seismic loss, due to its excellent seismic mitigation effects.
