Together with the intermediate deliverable D1.4 (Month 18), this document explains how the RAGE project defines, develops, distributes and maintains a series of applied gaming software assets through a high-level methodology and infrastructure that are needed to support the work in the project, as well as after the project has ended. The asset creation methodology, the quality assurance considerations and the asset metadata requirements are merged together and implemented into a single asset creation wizard, which supports and guides asset owners through the process of asset submission to the Ecosystem portal. It complements the metadata editor that was developed earlier, but which in some respects turned out to be demanding for asset developers. The wizard was used and evaluated by all RAGE’s asset developers. Also, the metadata-viewer tool is briefly explained in this deliverable. Already before the (soft) external launch of the ecosystem portal, which is scheduled in month 36 (January 2018) external parties will be involved to explore the asset creation system and make judgements about its usability. Overall, the asset creation part and its alignment with the RAGE ecosystem portal has now been fully covered.

Software assets are key output of the RAGE project and they can be used by applied game developers to enhance the pedagogical and educational value of their games. These software assets cover a broad spectrum of functionalities – from player analytics including emotion detection to intelligent adaptation and social gamification. In order to facilitate integration and interoperability, all of these assets adhere to a common model, which describes their properties through a set of metadata. In this paper the RAGE asset model and asset metadata model is presented, capturing the detail of assets and their potential usage within three distinct dimensions – technological, gaming and pedagogical. The paper highlights key issues and challenges in constructing the RAGE asset and asset metadata model and details the process and design of a flexible metadata editor that facilitates both adaptation and improvement of the asset metadata model.

This deliverable (D1.4) is an intermediate document, expressly included to inform the first project review about RAGE’s methodology of software asset creation and management. The final version of the methodology description (D1.1) will be delivered in Month 29. The document explains how the RAGE project defines, develops, distributes and maintains a series of applied gaming software assets that it aims to make available. It describes a high-level methodology and infrastructure that are needed to support the work in the project as well as after the project has ended.

The objective of D6.1 is to make the Ecosystem software platform with underlying Software Repository, Digital Library and Media Archive available to the degree, that the RAGE project can start collecting content in the form of software assets, and documents of various media types. This paper describes the current state of the Ecosystem as of month 12 of the project, and documents the structure of the Ecosystem, individual components, integration strategies, and overall approach. The deliverable itself is the deployment of the described components, which is now available to collect and curate content. Whilst this version is not yet feature complete, full realization is expected within the next few months. Following this development, WP6 will continue to add features driven by the business models to be defined by WP7 later on in the project.

Digital repositories find more and more applications in various information systems and especially in e-learning systems. Along with storing digital objects the repositories need to also to represent domain knowledge, user profiles, multilanguage classification taxonomies, etc. This could be achieved by using ontologies represented in OWL. The Fedora digital repository is one of most powerful repositories. It supports relationships between the digital objects that are expressed in the RDF language. This allows implementation of OWL ontologies in Fedora. In this paper we describe in details our approach to represent OWL Lite ontologies in Fedora. We have also implemented a web based ontology editor that allows easy definition, modification and storing OWL ontologies in Fedora. The editor is written in PHP, uses the Fedora services for the interface with the repository and AJAX (jQuery) for building the user interface. The paper discusses also the architecture and the implementation of the editor.

The Share.TEC system has the main goal to establish a highly visible and functional portal with advanced brokerage services that will provide personalised access to a wide-range of Teacher Education (TE) content. The heart of the Share.TEC system is the central repository, storing metadata about TE resources. In this paper we describe the design of the digital Share.TEC repository, providing the more flexible and powerful ways for representing Common Metadata Model (CMM) metadata records and objects from the Teacher Education Ontology (TEO), and ensuring the most efficient and comprehensive search and reasoning abilities, as the key factors for the success of the Share.TEC project. We describe the data models for representing CMM and TEO, as well as the processes ensuring their correct coexistence.

This paper presents the process of building contemporary digital library with metadata for teacher education in Europe. The system was implemented to satisfy the identified user requirements. The system architecture is presented, stressing on adaptability and user modelling features.

Describing the use of Fedora in the ShareTEC project to The Fedora UK and Ireland User Group met at the London School of Economics and Political Science (the LSE) on Monday 13th December with some 25 people in attendance.

This paper examines some approaches for endowing digital libraries with adaptability capabilities in order to scaffold and enhance end user experience. The paper provides a general overview of techniques and methods commonly adopted for achieving adaptability. It also discusses how these can be implemented, and to this end illustrates specific examples and guidelines drawn from the practical experience that the authors are currently gaining in the Share.TEC European project, a context in which adaptability is key to managing and responding to considerable diversity in user requirements.

This paper presents the Share.TEC system architecture and the first system prototype. This description stresses on the main system components and underlying technologies, standards and protocols. The main system functionalities are following logically from the main use cases and user requirements. The system design allows a tight integration between data, which have been automatically harvested from various external repositories, and a representation of the ontology that describes all aspects of the teacher education domain. The proposed implementation relies on modern features such as searching a net of digital objects interconnected by custom-defined relations. A multicultural system which accommodates to the user preferences requires specific user interface. The dynamic approach for presenting the information to the user, based on the teacher education ontology, contributes to the flexibility of the system.

This document describes the evaluation phase of the LearnWeb2.0 system. It contains the validation with real users and the functional testing in two stages. It contains also a code quality analysis and finally the list of improvements/enhancements.

This roadmap considers the state of the art in the field and contains a summary of WP5 contributions to RTD. It describes also the trends in the field. Finally it contains a list of actions for next future and a detailed plan.

Mikro-elektro mekaniske systemer (MEMS) er ny en teknologi med stort potentiale for kommerciel anvendelse indenfor såvel generel og biokemisk som biomolekylær detektion. Cantilever sensorer er et eksisterende MEMS koncept, der kan bruges til detektion af enten statisk overfladestress fremkaldt af et bimolekylært samspil eller minutiøs masseændring ved resonansbestemmelse. Formålet med denne forskning har været at opfinde, opdage og undersøge alternative påvirknings- og detektionsprincipper af cantilevers drevet i resonans tilstanden. I vores forskning har vi holdt os til et fast sæt forskningsværdier, som vi mener ville gøre produkterne kommercielt konkurrencedygtige. Vi undersøgte kun enkelt-maske planar komponenter, forsøgte at begrænse antallet af behandlingstrin og sigtede efter element designs der så lidt som muligt bruger eksternt elektronisk udstyr til aktuelle målinger. Vi opfandt et nyt dynamisk elektro-termisk aktiveringsprincip og undersøgte dets ydeevne både i praksis og teoretisk. En komponent der bringes til resonans ved hjælp af det ovennævnte princip blev derefter karakteriseret ved hjælp af laser/optisk detektion, og vi udførte basale massemålinger. Vi opdagede et nyt detektionsprincip (gennemslagsprincippet), som brugtes i forbindelse med en elektro-termisk betjent cantilever, udførte resonansfrekvens bestemmelse samt basal karakterisering af den nye detektionsmetode. Generel forskning i resonans MEMS apparater som ikke er rene cantilevers blev også forsøgt og frembragte et styrende apparat. For at kunne forbedre vores eksisterende instrument designs gik vi fra UV litografi fabrikation til elektronstråle litografi fabrikation. Omkostningerne ved denne fremstillingsmetode er afhængig af skrivetiden, derfor bestræbte vi os på at reducere denne med innovative procesløsninger som punktstrukturering og omrids skrivning. Vi undersøgte metal fabrikationen af hængende strukturer og opfaldt en ny proces, der involverer top-lag-afskrælning af en vinklet deponering. Vi anvendte denne proces til fremstillingen af vippe strukturer, der har z-formede, u-formede og rektangulære tværsnit. De nye strukturer og processer blev derefter brugt til integration på system niveau og mulig funktionalisering af enheder til statiske og dynamiske målinger, der bruger solide og afbrudte kanaler, ”spotting”, og kapilær handlinger til at få diverse væsker til at flyde. Micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS) are an emerging technology with a big potential for commercial applications in for general and biochemical sensing and biomolecular detection. Cantilever sensors are and existing MEMS concept that can be used for sensing and detection by either static surface stress detection, induced by a bimolecular interactions, or by mass-detection using resonance detection.The goal of this research has been to invent, discover and research alternative actuation and detection principles for resonating cantilevers. In our research, we adhered to fixed set of research values that we believe would make its products commercially competitive. We researched only planar, one mask devices, strove to limit the number of processing steps and aimed for device designs that use as little as possible external equipment in the form of electronics, for field measurements.We invented a new dynamic electro-thermal actuation principle and researched its performance experimentally and theoretically. A device that is actuated using the above principle was then characterized using laser/optical detection and we performed basic mass measurements.We discovered a new detection principle (rupture detection) to be used in conjunction with an electro-thermally actuated cantilever, performed resonant frequency detection and performed basic characterization of the new detection method.General research into resonant MEMS devices that are not plain cantilevers was also attempted and yielded a device that is actuating.In order to improve our existing device designs we then made a transition from UV lithography fabrication to electron beam lithography fabrication. This fabrication method is expensive depending on writing time, so we strove to reduce this with innovative processing solutions such as dot patterning and outline writing. We researched metal fabrication of suspended structuresand invented a new process involving top layer peel-of an angled deposition. We applied this process to fabrication of beam structures that have Z-shaped, U-shaped, and rectangular cross sections.The novel structures and process were than used for system level integration and possible functionalization of devices for static and dynamic measurements using solid and suspended channels, spotting, and capillary action to make various fluids flow along.
