The bis(yldiide) mercury complex, (L–Hg–L) [L = C(PPh3)P(S)Ph2], is prepared from the corresponding potassium yldiide and used to access the first substituted yldiide actinide complexes [(C5Me5)2An(L)(Cl)] (An = U, Th) via salt metathesis. Compared to previously reported phosphinocarbene complexes, the complexes exhibit long actinide–carbon distances, which can be explained by the strong polarization of the π-electron density toward carbon. The synthesis and preliminary biomimetic reactivity of the first structural analogue for the resting state of the active site of the nickel oxygenase nickel acireductone dioxyegenase (Ni-ARD), is presented. Compound 1 ([Ni II (O Ph N 4 (6-H-DPEN)(H 2 O))](OTf)) is only the second model complex for Ni-ARD. The N 4 O ligand motif, mimics the contributions of the glutamate and histidines enzymatic residues, and opens up the possibility for systematic structural modification studies that will lead to a greater understanding of the role that structure plays in function for ARD. Early reactivity studies with 1 suggest that it might capable of carbon-carbon bond cleavage of a ketone presumably via dioxygenase type chemistry in line with the reactivity of the enzyme. N -Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) ligands have been instrumental in the synthesis of novel metal and main group-containing compounds, as well as their subsequent reactivity. Here, the coordination chemistry of CS 2 and PhNCS derivatives of the sterically encumbering 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene (IPr) are studied. The reaction of IPr•CS 2 with Cu(I) and Ag(I) salts results in the isolation of dinuclear complexes, [(IPr•CS 2) 2 M 2 (THF) n ][X] 2 , M = Cu, X = PF 6 , n = 4; M = Ag, X = OTf, n = 2. The 1:1 stoichiometric reaction of IPr•PhNCS with CuI results in to the formation of ([IPr•PhNCS) 2 Cu][CuI 2 ]. All complexes were characterized by 1H, 13C, and IR spectroscopy and their solid-state structures determined by X-ray crystallography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
