Two new chromone derivatives (1 and 2), together with four known (3–6) ones, were isolated from the stems of a local sun cured tobacco (Fenghuang tobacco, widely cultivated in Shifang prefecture, Sichuan Province). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activity. The results showed that compounds 1 and 2 exhibited high anti-TMV activities with inhibition rates of 35.8 and 28.6% at the concentration of 20 μM. These rates are close to that of the positive control.

Hypertension is one of the major sources of global incidence of cardiovascular diseases and one of the leading causes of global morbidity and mortality. It is necessary to search for natural products which have not adverse effects like many synthetic drugs as potential development agents for treating hypertension. Dracocephalum tanguticum Maxim, a perennial herb for Tibetan medicine in China, is widely used for the treatment of many diseases. In the present study, two new glucosides, Dratanguticumide G (1) and Dratanguticumide H (2), and seven known compounds (3-9) were isolated from D. tanguticum. The new structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data and the known ones were identified by comparison with spectroscopic data, physical and chemical data of reported references. The vasodilatory effects and the underlying mechanisms of the components of D. tanguticum on rat aortic rings were investigated. The result showed that the new compounds exhibited significant endothelium-dependent vasodilatory effects on the aortic rings, and the NO-dependent pathway and PI3K/AKT pathway might play a pivotal role in the vasodilatory effect, as did five of known compounds. Our findings firstly showed that some natural compounds of 95% ethanol extract of D. tanguticum had significant vasodilatory effects and could be the potential development agents for treating hypertension.

Two new coumarins, 6-hydroxymethyl-3-prenyl-7-methoxycoumarin (1) and 6-hydroxyethyl-3-prenyl-7- methoxycoumarin (2), together with three known coumarins (3–5), were isolated from the roots and stems of Yunyan-300, a variety of Nicotiana tabacum L. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their anti-methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus (anti-MRSA) activity and their antioxidant activity. The results revealed that compounds 1 and 2 showed good anti-MRSA inhibitions with IZD of 12.2 ± 1.8 and 11.8 ± 1.5 mm, respectively, and antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 4.65 and 4.85 μg/mL, respectively.

A new chromone glycoside, 8-O-β-D-Glucopyranosyl-2-methylchromone (1), together with eight known compounds (2-9) were isolated from the Tibetan medicine plant of Swertia punicea. All compounds of this plant were reported for the first time. The structures of these metabolites were elucidated by analysis of their HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data and comparison with data reported in the literature. In vitro test, all compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity through the determination of nitric oxide production. Compounds 1-2 were evaluated for cytotoxic activities against three human cancer cell lines (HeLa, MDA-MB-231 and A375) by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) method. Furthermore, the chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds has also been described.

An electrochemical dehydrogenative [2 + 2 + 1] annulation used for the synthesis of imidazoles has been developed under undivided electrolytic conditions. In an undivided cell, aryl ketones and amines can smoothly participate in this transformation to furnish a variety of substituted imidazoles. The reaction avoids the use of both transition-metal catalysts and peroxide reagents, which makes it more sustainable and renewable.

Two new lignans (1–2), together with two known lignans (3–4), were isolated from the whole herb of Anemone vitifolia. The structures were identified based on extensive spectroscopic data analysis and comparison with reported data. All compounds of this plant were reported for the first time. In vitro test, all compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity via calculating the production of nitric oxide (NO) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mouse macrophage cells-RAW 264.7.

CO2/photoredox-cocatalyzed tandem oxidative cyclization of α-bromo ketones and amines for the preparation of substituted oxazoles has been achieved. The avoidance of using both transition-metal catalysts and peroxides makes this method more sustainable and renewable.

Three new phenylacetamide glycosides (1–3) together with one known phenylacetamide glycoside (4) and two known flavonoid glycosides (5–6) were isolated from whole plants of Dracocephalum tanguticum. The structure of all compounds were elucidated based on spectroscopic data analysis and comparison with data reported in related literature. Compounds (1–3) were evaluated for their anti-hyperglycemic and anti-fungal (Candida albicans) activities, the results revealed that all of them showed moderate activity with 3T3-L1 adipocytes glucose consumption rate of 20.80 ± 1.47%, 21.48 ± 2.44%, and 21.57 ± 1.35%, respectively at the final concentration of 25 μM. However, none of them showed obvious Candida albicans inhibitory activity.

A biosynthetic gene cluster for chevalone E (1) and its oxidized derivatives have been identified within the genome of the endophytic fungus Aspergillus versicolor 0312, by a mining strategy targeting a polyketide-diterpenoid hybrid molecule. The biosynthetic pathway has been successfully reconstituted in the heterologous fungus Aspergillus oryzae. Interestingly, two P450 monooxygenases, Cle2 and Cle4, were found to transform 1 into seven new analogues including 7 and 8 that possess a unique five-membered lactone ring. Furthermore, the replacement of the terpene cyclase gene with that from another fungus led to the production of sartorypyrone D (11), which has a monocyclic terpenoid moiety. Finally, some of the compounds obtained in this study synergistically enhanced the cytotoxicity of doxorubicin (DOX) in breast cancer cells.

Two new xanthone glycosides (1–2), together with seven known analogues (3–9), were isolated from whole herb of Swertia punicea. The structures of these metabolites were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis and comparison with data reported in the literature. In an in vitro test, all isolates were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity. The results revealed that all of them showed significant anti-inflammatory activity with IC50 values ranging from 1.237 to 3.319 mM. Compounds 3, 4, and 5 (IC50 values in the range 1.237–1.987 mM) displayed more potent anti-inflammatory activity than the positive control, indomethacin (IC50 value of 2.004 mM).

Garcilancibiphenyls A–C (1–3), three new biphenyls, were isolated from the stems of the plant Garcinia lancilimba, which belongs to the family Clusiaceae. Structures of the new compounds feature the acetoxyprenyl group on a benzene ring, and were elucidated by spectroscopic evidence. These compounds showed promising anti-rotavirus activity effects with TI values above 10.

The extract from Anemone vitifolia Buch.-Ham. was used for postharvest peach preservation for the first time. Different extracts of A. vitifolia were obtained by liquid-liquid extraction based on the gradient polarity, which were analyzed and characterized through HPLC, TLC NMR data and related literatures. Seven saprophytic fungi were isolated and identified from rotting peaches, thus clarifying the main saprophytic fungi. The extracts have certain antifungal effects on above identified fungi. It was found that n-butanol extract/sodium alginate coating of A. vitifolia, which mainly contains triterpenoid saponins and sterol saponins has a good effect on preserving the quality and repelling insects of peach fruit. Bio-safety evaluation result shows that To+SA, PE+SA, EA+SA, nB+SA and W+SA coating are relatively safe. Taken together, these results illuminated that A. vitifolia extract could be used as a promising alternative of peach natural preservatives.

Two new norlignans together with two known phenylpropanoids were isolated from the whole herb of Anemone vitifolia. All compounds were reported from this plant for the first time. The structures of these compounds were identified by comprehensive HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data analysis and comparison with literature data. Additionally, bioactivity study results showed that two new compounds have potential anti-inflammatory activity. The plausible biosynthetic pathway for these compounds were also speculated in this article.

Synthesis of aziridines by electrochemical oxidative annulation of chalcone 1,3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one with primary amines has been developed under external oxidant - and base-free conditions. The reaction constitutes a new transformation of chalcones with primary amines to aziridines, providing a complementary, simple, and environmentally friendly approach to the currently available methods. A reaction mechanism for this transformation has been proposed based on the cyclic voltammetry.

The melting fleshed peach is highly susceptible to infection by pathogenic fungi after harvested. Two new xanthones, atroxanthones A and B (1 and 2), together with four known xanthones (3–6), were isolated from the whole herb of Swertia atroviolacea. The structures of the metabolites were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for their anti-5α-reductase activity. The results revealed that 1 and 2 had weak activity with reductase inhibitions of 52.3 ± 2.5% and 42.9 ± 2.8%, respectively.

Phytochemical investigation on Lepidium meyenii led to the discovery of macahydantoin C (3), a new thiohydantoin with a 1,3-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane core, the spectral properties of which indicate a potential structural misassignment of its previously reported analogue, macahydantoin B (2a). To probe this hypothesis, a concise, scalable, and biomimetic synthesis of the originally proposed 2a and its revised structure (2b) was efficiently accomplished using the modified Edman degradation as the key step from commercially available materials in 65% (three steps) and 52% (three steps) overall yields, respectively. These synthetic endeavors undoubtedly reassigned the structure of macahydantoin B as an unreported type of thiohydantoin featuring a 4-methyl-hexahydropyrrolo[1,2-c]imidazole scaffold.

Three new isobenzofurans, lavandulactones A–C (1–3), together with three known ones (4–6), were isolated from the whole herb of Lavandula angustifolia. Their structures were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis (1D- and 2D-NMR, HRESIMS, UV, and IR) and comparison with data reported in the literature. New isolates were evaluated for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) activities and cytotoxicity activities. The results revealed that compounds 1–3 showed high anti-TMV activity with inhibition rate of 31.8, 29.6 and 33.4%, respectively. These rates are higher than that of positive control. Compounds 1–3 also showed weak inhibitory activities against some tested human tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 1.5 to 5.7 μM.

Three previously unreported anthraquinones, fistulaquinones A–C (1–3), together with three known ones (4–6) were isolated from the twigs of Cassia fistula. Their structures were determined by means of extensive NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses. All the isolated compounds were tested for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activity, and compound 3 showed significant activity with inhibition rate of 34.5% at 20 μM concentration, even more potent than positive control. Additionally, compounds 1–6 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity with IC50 values ranging from 2.8 to 9.4 μM for some tested human tumor cell lines.

The direct alkylheteroarylation of alkenes with cyclic and acyclic ethers via distal heteroaryl ipso-migration has been accomplished through the design of a photoredox-mediated C-H functionalization pathway. The use of inexpensive ethers as radical precursors combined with a straightforward method makes this a practical approach.

Armillaria species (Basidiomycota, Physalacriaceae) are well known as plant pathogens related to serious root rot disease on various trees in forests and plantations. Interestingly, some Armillaria species are essential symbionts of the rare Chinese medicinal herb Gastrodia elata, a rootless and leafless orchid used for over 2000 years. In this work, an 87.3-M draft genome of Armillaria gallica 012m strain, which was symbiotic with G. elata, was assembled. The genome includes approximately 23.6% repetitive sequences and encodes 26,261 predicted genes. In comparison with other four genomes of Armillaria, the following gene families related to pathogenicity/saprophytic phase, including cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, carbohydrate-active enzyme AA3, and hydrophobins, were significantly contracted in A. gallica 012m. These characteristics may be beneficial for G. elata to get less injuries. The genome-guided analysis of differential expression between rhizomorph (RH) and vegetative mycelium (VM) showed that a total of 2549 genes were differentially expressed, including 632 downregulated genes and 1917 upregulated genes. In the RH, most differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to pathogenicity were significantly upregulated. To further elucidate gene function, Gene Ontology enrichment analysis showed that the upregulated DEGs significantly grouped into monooxygenase activity, hydrolase activity, glucosidase activity, extracellular region, fungal cell wall, response to xenobiotic stimulus, response to toxic substance, etc. These phenomena indicate that RH had better infection ability than VM. The infection ability of RH may be beneficial for G. elata to obtain nutrition, because the rhizomorph constantly infected the nutritional stems of G. elata and formed the hyphae that can be digested by G. elata. These results clarified the characteristics of A. gallica 012m and the reason why the strain 012m can establish a symbiotic relationship with G. elata in some extent from the perspective of genomics. A total of ten compounds were isolated from the 90% Et OH extract of Cassia siamea by using various chormatographic techniques,and their structures were established as( 2' S)-2-( propan-2'-ol)-5,7-dihydroxy-benzopyran-4-one( 1),chrobisiamone( 2), 2-( 2'-hydroxypropyl)-5-methyl-7-hydroxychromone( 3), 2,5-dimethyl-7-hydroxychromone( 4), 2-methyl-5-acetonyl-7-hydroxychromone( 5),3-O-methylquercetin( 6),3,5,7,3',4'-pentahydroxyflavonone( 7),luteolin-5,3'-dimethylether( 8),4-( trans)-acetul-3,6,8-trihydroxy-3-methyl-dihydronapht halenone( 9) and 6-hydroxymellein( 10) based on the spectroscopic data.Compound 1 was a new compound,and 3,4,6,8 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Diverse terpenoids including a novel sesquiterpenoidal lactam, commipholactam A (1), and a structurally related new cadinane sesquiterpenoid, commiphorane H (2), a new eudesmane sesquiterpenoid, commiphorane I (4), a new guaiane sesquiterpenoid, commiphorane J (5), and two new nor-abietane diterpenoids, commiphoranes K1 and K2 (6 and 7) along with two known terpenoids (3 and 8), were isolated from Resina Commiphora. Their structures with absolute configurations were characterized by spectroscopic methods and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD). Notably, commipholactam A represents the first example of cadinane sesquiterpene alkaloids isolated from Resina Commiphora. Biological assessment toward human cancer cells showed that the IC50 values of 1 against HepG2 and A549 cells were 21.73 μM and 128.50 μM, respectively.

A phytochemical investigation of Anemone vitifolia (Buch.-Ham.) led to the isolation of twelve compounds, including six lignans (1–6), four benzoic acid esters (7–10), one norsesquiterpenoid (11) and one lactone (12). The structures of these metabolites were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis, as well as comparisons with the data available in the literature. Among them, compounds 10 (dimethyl 2-(benzoyloxy)succinate) and 12 (4-hydroxy-5-methyl-γ-butyrolactone) were isolated for the first time as natural products. Compounds 1 and 11, compounds 2, 3, 5–7 and 9, and compounds 4 and 8 were isolated for the first time in family Ranunculaceae, genus Anemone and A. vitifolia respectively. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds was discussed.

Based on the bioactive screening results, four new pregnane glycosides, namely cynanotophyllosides A-D (1-4) were isolated from the anti-depressant active fraction of cultivated Cynanchum otophyllum, along with thirteen known compounds (5-17). The new compounds were characterized as qingyangshengenin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-oleandropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranoside (1), qingyangshengenin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-oleandropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-α-L-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranoside (2), caudatin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-thevetopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-digitoxopyranoside (3) caudatin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl -(1→4)-β-D-thevetopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-cymaropyranoside (4), by detailed spectroscopic analysis and acidic hydrolysis.

With the aim of searching for new bioactive metabolites from medicinal plants, three new biphenyls, tababiphenyls G–I (1–3), together with four known ones (4–7) were isolated from the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum. Their structures were elucidated by extensive NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses. All the isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against NB4, A549, SHSY5Y, PC3, and MCF7 human cancer cell lines, and some of them showed moderate inhibitory activities against several human tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 2.8 to 9.4 μM.

Objective To study the chemical constituents from the whole plant of Swertia cincta. Methods The chemical constituents were purified by chromatographic methods such as silica gel column and Sephadex LH-20. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by MS, IR, and NMR analyses. Results Two compounds were isolated from S. cincta. Conclusion Compound 1 is a new compound named swercinctlactone A. Compound 2 is identified as (±)-gentiolactone and its configuration is confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and optical specific rotation.

As a folk medicine, Phlomis likiangensis is traditionally used in China to activate collaterals and protect cardiovascular system. We hypothesized that the beneficial effects of Phlomis likiangensis may be related to vasodilatation. In the present study, twelve known iridoid glucosides (1-12) were isolated from Phlomis likiangensis. The vasodilatory effects and the underlying mechanisms of the main components (iridoid glucosides) of Phlomis likiangensis on rat aortic rings were investigated. The result showed that iridoid glucosides significantly increased the vasodilatation in rat aortic rings, which was abolished by removing the endothelium of the vessels or by eliminating the generation of nitric oxide. Finally, the structure-activity relationship of compounds 1-12 was also speculated. Our findings provide the first evidence that the iridoid glucosides of Phlomis likiangensis may be the pharmacodynamic basis for its traditional efficacy.

A new direct alkylheteroarylation of alkenes with simple alkylnitriles via distal heteroaryl ipso-migration has been accomplished under metal-free conditions, in which inexpensive alkylnitriles served as radical precursors, which together with ease of operation makes this process a very practical protocol.

A new naphthaldehyde derivative has been isolated from Comastoma pulmonarium by using various chromatographic techniques, including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, MCI-gel resin and RP-HPLC. This compounds was determined as 5-methoxy-2-methyl-7-(2-oxopropyl)naphthalene-1-carbaldehyde(1) by NMR, MS, IR and UV spectra. This compound was also evaluated for its anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activity. The result showed that it showed high anti-TMV activity with inhibition rate of 32.8%. The inhibition rate is close to that of positive control (ningnanmycin).

Comastomaxanthones A–C ( 1 – 3 ), three new xanthones with a rare 2-oxoprenyl substituent, along with three known ones ( 4 – 6 ) were isolated from the aerial parts of Comastoma pedunculatum . Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. In addition, compounds 1 – 6 were tested for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus activity. The results showed that all isolated compounds exhibited weak anti-TMV activity with IC 50 values ranging from 122.7 to 242.9 μM.

Biotransformation of trans-resveratrol and synthetic (±)-e-viniferin in aqueous acetone using horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide as oxidants resulted in the isolation of two new resveratrol trimers (3 and 4), one new resveratrol derivative (5) with a dihydrobenzofuran skeleton, together with two known stilbene trimers (6 and 7), and six known stilbene dimers (8–13). Their structures and relative configurations were identified through spectral analysis and possible formation mechanisms were also discussed. Among these oligomers, trimers 6 and 7 were obtained for the first time through direct transformation from resveratrol. Results indicated that this reaction is suitable for the preparation of resveratrol oligomers with a complex structure.

A visible-light-catalyzed synthesis of unsymmetrical 2,3-diaryl-substituted indoles from arylsulfonyl chlorides and o-azidoarylalkynes at room temperature has been discovered. This transformation exhibits excellent substrate scope and functional group tolerance. The use of inexpensive eosin Y as the catalyst with easy operation makes this protocol very practical.

Four new diterpene glucosides, namely perovskiaditerpenosides A - D (1 - 4), were isolated from the BuOH extract of Perovskia atriplicifolia. Their structures were well elucidated by chemical methods and comprehensive spectroscopic analyses including MS, IR, and NMR (1D and 2D). The newly isolated compounds were screened for their cytotoxic activity against HepG2, NB4, HeLa, K562, MCF7, PC3, and HL60. The obtained results indicated that the new compounds possessed considerable cytotoxic activity.

(+)-Meyeniins A–C (1–3), a novel class of sulfur-containing hexahydroimidazo[1,5-c]thiazole derivatives, were isolated from the tubers of Lepidium meyenii (maca) cultivated in Lijiang, Yunnan province, China. Guided by their biosynthetic hypothesis, a stereocontrolled biomimetic synthesis of meyeniins A–C and their individual enantiomers was efficiently accomplished by a combination of a condensation reaction and Edman degradation. The formation of high-quality crystals for X-ray crystallography occurred much more readily from a racemic mixture of (±)-meyeniin A than with the single enantiomer alone in this case. These extensive strategies, combined with circular dichroism (CD) spectra, allowed the complete structural assignments of (+)-meyeniins A–C. Among them, (+)-meyeniin A showed moderate selective cytotoxicities against the HL-60, A549 and MCF-7 human cell lines with IC50 values of 14.41, 32.22, and 33.14 μM, respectively. Two new flavonoids, 8-formyl-3′,4′-dihydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone (1) and 8-formyl-4′-hydroxy-3′,6,7- trimethoxyflavone (2), were isolated from the fruits of Ziziphus jujuba Mill. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive NMR and MS means. The anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) and antioxidant activity of 1 and 2 were evaluated. They both showed anti-TMV activity with inhibition rates of 92.8% and 88.6%, and antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 3.16 μg/mL and 3.87 μg/mL, respectively.

Oryzaeins A-D (1-4), four new isocoumarin derivatives, along with five known ones (5-9) were isolated from solid cultures of an endophytic fungus Aspergillus oryzae. Their structures were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with reported data of related derivatives. Among them, compounds 1 and 2 represent the first examples of isocoumarins possessing an unusual 2-oxopropyl group and a rare 3-hydroxypropyl group. Compounds 1 and 2 displayed moderate anti-tobacco mosaic virus activities with inhibition rates of 28.4% and 30.6%, respectively, at the concentration of 20 µM. The structures of the new metabolites were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for their anti-5α-reductase activity. The results revealed that 1 and 2 showed weak activity with reductase inhibitions of 45.6 ± 2.8% and 38.4 ± 2.5%, respectively.

Two new 4-hydroxyisoflavanes, cordifoliflavanes A and B (1 and 2), were isolated from the roots of Codonopsis cordifolioidea. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D- and 2D-NMR techniques. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their anti-HIV-1 activities and anti-tobacco mosaic virus activities. The results showed that compounds 1 and 2 have modest anti-HIV-1 activities and anti-tobacco mosaic virus activities, respectively.

Three new benzofuranylpropanoids, lanceolunes A–C (1–3), were isolated from the roots of Codonopsis lanceolata. Their structures were determined by means of HR-ESI-MS, extensive 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopic, and chemical evidence.

Two new dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans, schinegllignans A and B (1 and 2), together with 11 known (3 13) were isolated from the fruit of Schisandra neglecta. Their structures and stereochemistries were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1D, 2D NMR, and HR-ESI-MS techniques. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for their anti-HIV activities, and they showed moderate anti-HIV-1 activities with therapeutic index values of 18.5 and 24.6.

Objective To study the chemical constituents of Swertia cincta . Methods Preparative liquid chromatography was employed. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Results Three secoiridoid glycosides were isolated from S. cincta and identified as 8-methoxyl-eustomorusside ( 1 ), secoiridoids eustomorusside ( 2 ), and eustomoside ( 3 ). Conclusion Compound 1 is a new secoiridoid glycoside. Compounds 2 and 3 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

Three new arylglycerol glucosides, threo-guaiacylglycerol 3-O-(6-O-p-hydroxybenzoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), threo-guaiacylglycerol 3-O-[6-O-(E)-p-coumaroyl]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2) and threo-guaiacylglycerol 3-O-[6-O-(Z)-p-coumaroyl]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), together with seven known compounds were isolated from the whole plants of Dracocephalum forrestii and their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidences.
