This study aims to examine students' gender perspectives within the context of gender equality. Gender perceptions of students are typically investigated with application examples at a specific education level or within a specific field of education; however, this research will examine gender perceptions at all university education levels without a specific field and/or department restriction, and moreover, in relation to the age, residence status, and profession of the student's parents. The survey method and random sampling were used within the research that was authorized by the ethics council of Eskişehir Technical University. In total, 374 students were reached by using the Gender Perception Scale to evaluate individuals' gender perspectives. Of the participants, 60.16% were female and 39.84% were male. Secondly, of the participants, 31,82% had an associate's degree, 41,18% held a bachelor's degree, 17,11% held a master's degree, and 9,89% held a doctorate degree. In terms of gender perception levels, the findings showed that there is a statistically significant difference between gender and education levels. Moreover, while the fathers' professions of the students created a statistically significant difference in their gender perception, the same situation was not seen in their mothers' professions. The stigmatized language in Moroccan films demonstrates gender attitudes and social conventions when treating gender biases and inequalities. Moroccan cinema, in general, contributes to the reinforcement of traditional gender roles through the use of sexist language and stigmas in dialogues tied within narrative scenes. Sexism in Moroccan films and sitcoms is depicted in several ways, portraying women's inferiority and submissiveness. Such gender inequalities represent women as primarily responsible for the domestic sphere and removed from public interests. The current research aims to investigate the representations of the stigmatized linguistic discourse used against women by undertaking a study about how the stigmas strengthen social and cultural stereotypes. The research studies the linguistic derogatory terms, gender stereotypes, reification or terms that treat women as sexual objects, and dismissive attitudes and the way they are depicted within cultural norms, along with their effect on cultural perspectives. The study utilizes a mixed approach of selected Moroccan films and sitcoms through the analysis of dialogues, as well as interactions among characters. It aims at discerning the representations of sexist language and the way gender inequalities are maintained. The research data is collected from a variety set of films that treat sexism from different understandings and interpretations and the way language portrays and depicts stigmatized discourses. The data analysis stands up at pointing out various ways in which gendered stereotypes or negative, derogatory terms are used against social groups, typically women. The present research comes up to reveal that these gendered depictions aim at strengthening social biases and cultural recognitions of gender stereotypes. The results unveil salient interrelations between gender representations and the reinforcement of gender biases. The research concludes that Moroccan films and sitcoms play a significant part in structuring prerequisite linguistic stigmas. Through drawing the salient ways in which sexist language is used in films, the research points out the significance of raising awareness through media interpretations of gender discourses. During the Victorian period, the expansion of the domestic sphere into the garden afforded women greater agency within their own physical and psychological landscapes. The Pensionnat in Charlotte Brontë's Villette (1853) provides Lucy Snowe, the protagonist, with access to a forbidden avenue within the school garden, initially providing her with shelter and solitude. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this article reads the novel through the lens of the 'prospect–refuge' theory developed by the aesthetic geographer Jay Appleton, which considers people's emotional and psychological responses to their environment. It explores the symbolic uses of the garden space to convey the emotional landscape of characters as well as examining how Brontë positions her protagonist in the garden to allow Lucy freedoms not easily afforded within formal indoor settings. This qualitative study delves into multifaceted issues and challenges faced by elected women parliamentarians as they carry out their parliamentary duties and perceptions and appraisals of their performance by their male colleagues, assembly officials, and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Thus, 10 semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore these dimensions. Study reveals a range of challenges faced by elected women parliamentarians, including gender-based biases, unequal opportunities, and limited access to resources. Male colleagues often cited issues related to gender stereotypes and traditional gender roles as barriers to women's effectiveness in parliament. In contrast, assembly officials and NGO representatives generally held more positive views about services as provided by elected women parliamentarians, accepting their dedication and commitment to addressing critical social issues. The significance of this research lies in its potential to inform policy changes, foster gender equality and encourage the active participation of women in political leadership. Recommendations include the need for increased support and resources for elected women parliamentarians and the promotion of gender-sensitive policies within legislative bodies to enhance the efficacy of parliamentary services. One of the key points in analyzing rural development issues is the management of these societies. Management of rural areas is one of the most important components of sustainable rural development. One of the necessary conditions for achieving sustainable rural development is women's participation in public affairs and rural management, rural management (councils and assistants) for women, despite the imposition of male, has been a unique experience in modern rural management in Iran; Because in this context, women have performed significantly by referring to feminine moods. The purpose of the present study is to influence the factors, challenge and performance on the gender selection of female villagers in the villages of Sistan. This study is a descriptive-analytical study in which the documentary and survey method is used to collect the required data needed at the village level. The statistical population of the study consists of supervisors of households in the study, which was calculated by 367 samples to complete the research questionnaires, given the number of households in the study and use of Cochran formula. Descriptive and inferential statistics (single -sample and Friedman T -test) are used for data analysis (SPSS and WASPAS. The results show that people's confidence in women's capabilities and capabilities is more important, and there is a significant difference between men and women's attitudes to female villagers' performance (2.89). The position of men and women's attitude towards female village performance is less than average. In general, it can be said that the gender selection of female villagers in the study area has been influenced by various factors. This paper pays homage to the late Professor, Brij Lal, for the critical role he played in debunking colonial and patriarchal myths about Fiji's Indian indentured (girmitiya) women. From as early as 1985, Lal critiqued the way the British administrators wielded power over displaced female labourers by misrepresenting them in internal and external exchanges. My specific focus here is on the way he deconstructed colonial and patriarchal tropes associated with indentured women such as their alleged immorality and promiscuousness, 'sexual jealousy', 'maternal negligence' and madness, by situating these constructs within a specific historical context. With these interventions as the foundation for this paper, I will illustrate how my own interdisciplinary investigations in the interconnecting fields of gender, indenture, subaltern studies and minor history have attempted to address Lal's concern that girmitiya women's perspectives were absent in the historical records. This study content analyzed visual frames of Afghan refugees during the first six months of the Taliban's second regime (from August 15, 2021, to February 15, 2022). A total of N = 1,948 images from the Associated Press were quantitatively analyzed for focal point, topic, tone, depiction, gender, and age. The findings indicate that Afghan refugees were predominantly the primary focal points of the AP images, with significantly more positive and active frames than negative and passive frames. In contrast to previous research on the framing of Afghan women in Western media before the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, Afghan women were framed significantly as more positive and active than Afghan men in the photos. Even though the practice of female genital mutilation is not meant to hurt women, it nonetheless endangers their health. This necessitates research into the amount of understanding and cultural complications that prevent its eradication in Africa and Nigeria, particularly in rural communities where the practice is very prevalent. This study, therefore, examined cultural factors that promote the continued practice of female genital mutilation in the Attah community, Imo State. Social convention theory was used as the study's theoretical framework. The survey research method was adopted for this study. Using the multi-stage sampling method, 674 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to the study respondents for the quantitative data. However, only 539 copies of the questionnaire were retrieved. This represents the sample size of this study. For the qualitative data in the study, twelve (12) in-depth interviews were conducted among village and religious leaders. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used to process this study's quantitative data, while descriptive and inferential statistics were analyzed. For the study's qualitative data, analysis was done using the content analysis method based on the study objectives. It was found that males are more likely to make decisions that influence the continued practice of Female Genital Mutilation in the Attah community than females. The study also found that cultural expectations for womanhood rite of passage, marriage prospects, and the belief that women with FGM are more likely to be less promiscuous are major factors that influence the continued practice of FGM in the Attah community. Consequently, to end female genital mutilation in the Attah community, there is a need to address those religious and cultural beliefs that negatively affect the control of the practice. Objective: The article evaluates the 2007 introduction of nontransferable and fully paid paternity leave in Spain. Background: Previous research has focused on paternity leave reforms, especially in the Nordic and continental countries. This article studies characteristics of the parental leave system design, including transferability, payment, and purpose of different types of leave for mothers and fathers in a Mediterranean country. Method: We use a quasi‐experimental approach based on a sample of heterosexual dual‐earner couples with children born before and after the paternity leave introduction. We estimate differences in differences regression models. Results: The 2007 reform caused a significant increase in fathers' number of days of parental leave. Most fathers used the whole nontransferable and fully paid paternity leave, but they hardly used transferable or unpaid leave. Mothers used all of these, especially paid leave. Conclusion: The number of nontransferable fully paid days of parental leave provided by law approximates the actual number of days most fathers used. Implications: The policy design matters. A design of equal, nontransferable, and fully paid leave for each parent is necessary for equal use by fathers and mothers—and thus for gender equality in families and work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The aim of the research is to explore the significance of Nursery Rhymes within the lives of children and the way they make contribution to the formation of personal identity of children especially in female. The research claims that children's literatures can nurture and unconsciously but in systematic manner, develop the idea of feminism in kids through kid's literature. It is noteworthy that all nursery rhymes have a great impact on the lives of children by portraying characters in the nursery rhyme. The study is an attempt to make connection among children psychology and gender roles in literature. The socio-psychological issues like gender role, gender discrimination, class system is important in it. Methods: The critique adopted the exploratory research framework. The data collected and analyzed for this study was qualitative in its nature and scope. "Chotti si Munni" (A small girl), a Pakistani Nursery Rhyme was taken as sample of study by applying typical and critical case sampling strategy on Pakistani Kid's literature. Results: Findings of the study revealed that the portrayal of the little girl in "Chotti si munni" reflects the gendered expectations and limitations, which are foisted upon young girls in many traditional societies same as Nursery rhyme can be realized as a mirror image of the changing attitudes about gender roles and education in Pakistan. Conclusion: The summative discussions in the light of the findings obtained in this study indicate that challenging gender role and cultural norms in Pakistani society, promoting feminism and equality through kid's literature. This article considers Joseph Conrad's Nostromo and D. H. Lawrence's Women in Love as modernist reworkings of the industrial novels of the mid‐nineteenth century, such as Elizabeth Gaskell's Mary Barton and Charles Dickens's Hard Times. Conrad and Lawrence, the article argues, rework the industrial‐novel genre as a way to figure a crisis of British culture—and of the novel as a form. In the era of British imperial decline, the apparent massification and globalization of modern Western culture, and revolutionary changes in gender relations and family life, the synoptic historical narratives of Nostromo and Women in Love describe the transformation of the earlier promise of development into an apocalyptic present, and, in turn, the dissolution of the progressive assurance of the realist novel. While the nineteenth‐century novels plead for reform and paternalistic care to moderate but protect the free market and liberalism, Nostromo and Women in Love narrate precisely the historical fulfillment of this wish—but, then, in turn, also narrate the end of that reformist logic and the triumph of a fully globalized and "perfected" capitalism, which they characterize as worse than the free‐market capitalism that the earlier novels both criticize and celebrate. Drawing on Marxist‐feminist theories of "social reproduction," the article describes especially how the modernist novels imagine the family as a machine for maintaining and servicing capitalist production: the regeneration of the family—a trope so important to the resolution of plot in the realist novel—is now a sign of decay instead of resilience. This research explores the involvement of career women and its effects on achieving family unity using the Maqashid Shariah framework. The research approach in this article is normative and is analyzed qualitatively. The data analysis technique employed is deductive, used to determine the rights and responsibilities of husbands and wives in the gender concept, which is then further examined, developed, and described in more detail using the study of Maqashid Shariah. The findings are women pursuing careers have both positive and negative impacts. The negative impact includes reduced interaction with family members and potentially less affection for their children. On the positive side, career-oriented women can self-actualize, contribute their knowledge to society, build extensive networks and experiences, and help meet their family's financial needs. Career women who effectively integrate their professional and family responsibilities can establish a harmonious balance between individual needs and familial obligations. Within the Maqashid Shariah framework, this research highlights the importance of ensuring that the role of career women aligns with Islamic values and principles, strengthening family unity, and promoting gender equality. The implications of this research underscore the need for policies and programs that promote gender equity, social support systems, and an awareness of Islamic values among career women. The findings serve as a valuable reference for policymakers and practitioners, aiding in developing strategies that support career women in attaining family unity per Islamic values and principles. This article analyses various representations of the figure of the 'pit brow lassie' with a particular emphasis on two novels; Frances Hodgson Burnett's That Lass O' Lowrie's (1877) and John Monk Foster's A Pit Brow Lassie (1889). It argues that pit brow women provided a focus for discussions of the interplay of class and gender roles in Victorian Britain. The article begins by tracing the history of attitudes towards women's employment in the mines in Victorian Britain and the role which visual representations of pit brow women played in the campaigns for and against their employment. It then analyses the way in which the representation of the pit brow women in That Lass O' Lowrie's shifts from an ideologeme of pity to one of respect and self-respect. It argues that Burnett's novel is, in part, a re-purposing of earlier 'Condition of England' novels with gender replacing class as the main axis of social reconciliation. As part of this re-purposing it argues that while the novel uses the perceived deficiencies of working-class women to justify the agency of their middle-class counterparts, it also represents its working-class heroine as an object of middle-class desire. Next the article explores John Monk Foster's A Pit Brow Lassie highlighting the ways in which it both normalizes and defends the work of pit brow women and, in contrast to Burnett's novel, makes female labour integral to the development of its plot. It analyses the ways in which Foster's representation of pit brow women differs from Burnett's and argues that these differences arise from a combination of generic, publication and authorial factors. However, despite these differences the article argues that Foster's novel also eschews the ideologeme of pity in favour of respect/self-respect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Varied interpretations have been given about Genesis 1: 26-28 concerning gender roles, of which the interpretation either supports or debunks patriarchy. Using contextual analysis, descriptive and historical methods, the study gave convincing interpretations to the passage from feminist perspective, which emphasized the equality of both sex and the implications for national developments in Nigeria. The woman and man in the passage are depicted as standing side by side, head erect in the work, and it is over this world they are conjointly assigned to rule. Meanwhile findings from field study in Nigeria revealed that there are gender imbalances in all sectors of governance and it is influenced by different cultures and beliefs. Although few women have been mentioned in the paper to have been given opportunities to serve the nation and in that little space given to them did well, much would have been achieved if the country transformed completely from the patriarchal culture to a complete state of gender equality. This was said to have been confirmed by the latest review of the international monetary fund (IMF) that closing the gender gap is key to achieving higher growth in the economy, enhancing productivity and greater economic stability. By implication, women have the potential and the influence power to make things happen, run well and perform excellently. Drawing upon the above, the paper recommended that drastic measures must be put in place to ensure women's full participation in religious, political and socio-economic decision making processes for national development. This calls for affirmative action by the government that would encourage females' access to resources available in the country to further strengthen the country's national development. The paper focuses on the fatherhood premium, and who it benefits the most. I conclude that professional workers who are white, heterosexual, and married to the mother of their children receive the greatest premiums when compared to socially disadvantaged fathers. This paper outlines the two key theories used to explain the fatherhood bonus, and the flaws in their explanations. To understand the professional fatherhood bonus, I highlight the role of higher education and the hierarchy of positions in determining who gets the best bonus. With racial differentials, I find that Black men earn less of bonus than white men and only earn the bonus under specific circumstances, and I point to the importance of the ideal worker type and nuclear family, which also used to explain the importance of marital status and relationship to the child. Additionally, I highlight several gaps in the literature, calling attention to the need for studies with Canadian fathers, Indigenous fathers, and queer fathers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article focuses on the persistent structural barriers to gender equality in Southeast Asia despite significant progress over the past 20 years. Topics include the impact of legal discrimination and traditional gender roles on women's socio-economic contributions; the challenges posed by the region's informal care economy amid demographic changes; and the need for intensified efforts and resource allocation to eliminate gender-based discrimination and transform social norms.

This study compares television advertisements from Japan, Russia, Sweden, and the United States are compared. Consistent with Hofstede's framework which suggests that countries may be characterized along a continuum from masculine to feminine, the authors found that television advertisements from feminine countries featured more depictions of relationships for male and female characters than did masculine countries. Expectations of fewer gender differences in feminine countries than in masculine countries and of greater depictions of productivity being found in television advertisements from masculine countries were not realized, however. This article highlights the changing patterns in marriage and family in the U.S. One apparent change in family pattern is the growing number of mothers entering the labor force. Another change is that children are no longer viewed as a hindrance to a mother's employment. Mothers entering the labor force are primarily motivated for money to assist their husbands and help out in provisioning the family. The author does point to shift that involves women seeking to define their work as an opportunity to gain prestige and worth. With this shift in attitude towards what it means to be a part of the labor force there are also increasing shifts in the norms regarding men's and women's roles in general.

This article comments on a study that examined various models of home economics. The author claims these models are significant step in the discipline of microeconomics and have already reshaped policy views on the measurement of production in society. As a social scientist interested in time use the author adds that these models provide an interesting view, recognizing that a growing number of productive activities involve exchanges of time rather than money. The author also recognizes that these models have received criticism and discusses the main concerns that have been raised, most notably that they reinforce stereotypes associated with sex roles and divisions of labor based on sex.
