1. Microstructure and properties of FeCoNiCrMn and Al2O3 hybrid particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites fabricated by microwave sintering

Abstract: In this paper, multiscale Al2O3 micro/nanoparticles (0–14 wt%) mixed with FeCoNiCrMn high-entropy alloy (HEA) particles (15 wt%) were used as reinforcements to prepare dual-phase-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) through microwave sintering. The strengthening effects of doping different weight fractions of Al2O3 micro/nanoparticles on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and strengthening mechanisms of the mixed-phase particle-reinforced AMCs were investigated. The performance after 11 wt% Al2O3+HEA microparticles was similar to that obtained by adding 2 wt% and 5 wt% Al2O3+HEA nanoparticles. The hardness, yield strength, and compressive strength of the 2 wt% nano-Al2O3 composite were 109.7 HV, 286.5 MPa, and 506.7 MPa, respectively, which were 70.9%, 98.5%, and 94.7% higher than those of the single HEA-reinforced sample. In terms of the strengthening and toughening mechanisms, Orowan strengthening, dislocation strengthening, and thermal mismatch strengthening were the main strengthening mechanisms of particles species mixed in the metal matrix composites. Hall-Petch strengthening and load-transfer effects were mainly attributed to the cross-scale mixing of particles. The hybrid particles of HEA and Al2O3 synergistically delayed interfacial crack propagation. This study provides a new preparation method for high-performance metal matrix composites.

2. Microstructure and properties of spinning deformed A356 alloy subject to the solution-DCT-aging multiplex heat treatment

Abstract: The effect of DCT time (1 h,12 h, 24 h, 36 h and 48 h) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of spinning deformed A356 alloy subject to solution-DCT-aging multiplex heat treatment (hereinafter referred to as “DCT multiplex heat treatment”) was studied. The results demonstrate that the best DCT time of multiplex heat treatment is 36 h, which is the critical time for the recrystallization process. Then the recrystallization texture will appear in the 48 h DCT sample. The equal-area-circle diameter of α-Al matrix and Si phase are 24.8 μm and 1.5 μm respectively after 36 h DCT, which are 53.3% and 53.1% smaller than those after sole solution-aging treatment. After 36 h DCT, the tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and microhardness of A356 alloy arrive at the maximum simultaneously as 302.21 MPa, 272.93 MPa, 20.37% and 98.8HV separately, which are increased by 6.8%, 4.1%, 24.0% and 3.9% in comparison to the sole solution-aged sample. Short-term DCT (36 h) is diametrically opposite. The crystal plane of DCT-ed α-Al matrix rotates towards the (200) crystal plane, and accelerates the formation of nanometer Mg2Si precipitates in the matrix, and twin structure can be observed in the Si crystal. The main strengthening and toughening mechanisms of DCT alloy concerns with fine grain strengthening, precipitation strengthening, dislocation strengthening and twin strengthening.

3. Effect of TiB2 content on microstructure and mechanical properties of (TiB2p+B4Cp)/Al composites fabricated by microwave sintering

Abstract: This study demonstrates a novel method to improve the density, interface bonding strength and mechanical properties of the B4Cp/Al composites by directly adding TiB2 to the material. Specifically, the (TiB2p+B4Cp)/Al composites with different TiB2 contents were successfully fabricated by ball milling (BM) and microwave sintering (MS). The results indicate that the developed (TiB2p+B4Cp)/Al possess a clean interface, with the absence of any reaction, thus, confirming microwave sintering as one of the preferred ways to prepare the (TiB2p+B4Cp)/Al composites. On adding TiB2, the densification in the microstructure is noted to initially increase, followed by a decrease. Overall, the TiB2 and B4C particles are noted to synergistically improve the densification as well as ameliorate the interfaces and microstructure. As a result, the optimized composites exhibit the compactness and Vickers hardness as high as 94.6% and 153.42HV0.3 respectively. The highest value of the compressive strength is determined to be 578.71 MPa at 50.0%. Further, no macroscopic fracture is noted to occur after 50% compression strain.

4. Microstructure and properties of the Nd2Fe14Bp/Al–Co composites fabricated via microwave sintering

Abstract: This study aimed to fabricate a new type of aluminum matrix composite exhibiting high strength, good magnetic property, and toughness to solve the issues on current magnetic materials, such as brittleness and high density. In this paper, the Nd2Fe14Bp/Al–Co composites with different cobalt (Co) contents (wt.%) are fabricated via microwave sintering. The effects of the Co content on the composite microstructures and properties are studied. The results indicate that at a 580 °C sintering temperature, 30 min sintering time, and 30 °C/min heating rate, with an increase in the Co content (0 → 1%→2.5%→5%→7.5%→10%), the compactness initially increases and then decreases and reaches the maximum of 94.5% for the 5%Co sample together with a smaller grain size. The composites mainly consist of Nd2Fe14B with various sizes, Co particles, and the Nd2(Fe,Co)14B phase. The interfacial deformation resistance of the 5%Co sample tested via nanoindention is 22.8% higher than that of the Co-free sample, which can facilitate in the interfacial strengthening. The microhardness, yield strength, and tensile strength of the 5%Co samples are 107.4 HV, 210.84 MPa, and 139.8 MPa, respectively. The remanence Br, coercive force Hcj, and maximum magnetic energy product (BH)max of the 5%Co sample are 0.37 T, 0.65 T, and 45.12 kJ/m3, respectively, which are 48.6%, 29.2%, and 63.9% higher than those of the Co-free sample. The significant increase in the magnetic properties is mainly attributed to the interactive coupling between the Co particle soft magnetic phase and Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase.

Abstract: Detailed and in-depth requirements are analyzed on the intelligent manufacturing of mixed cloud (MC-VE) virtual enterprise. The function and contents are introduced in detail on product quality management of intelligent manufacturing based on the Internet of things. Annotation of decision process is listed on the defective product. The different types of processing are done on the defective product. At first explanations has been carried concessions release and repair business on the defective products. Then detailed annotation is done on the rework of defective products and restructuring the business in the future. At last the abandonment business is on defective products. By the research of the product defective based on the Internet of thing, it is concluded that the details handling countermeasures and methods of defective product. It could be checked on the quality of our products of defective product and queries of detailed operating, which realizes the requirements of real-time knowing the product's quality. The system could be applied for the products of input in the MC-VE. And the system is opened and extended for other parts. There are detailed analysis of product quality and judgment and processing of defective product based on MC-VE. It makes more rationalization and intelligent of products management, which improving the efficiency of intelligent manufacturing.

6. Dynamic Recognition Research of Parts Information of MC - VE Based on the Optimal Binary Tree and Fuzzy Reasoning

Abstract: Part information is the research object with the background of cloud manufacturing. And parts information are acquired and recognized. The characteristic and demand of part information are analysed of a mixed cloud virtual enterprises (MC-VE) based on the Internet and Internet of thing. Part information content and information process are summarized of the MC -VE. The sources and the characteristics of the part information are analysed. The retrieval method of parts information is two-dimension code, which can be concluded basic needed information and the context of the information associated with it of MC-VE. Identifying and obtaining of parts geometry information is combined by using the theory of the optimal binary tree method. The information matching of surface, side, between side and surface adopts the method of fuzzy reasoning in the geometry information of parts. The research works on matching and combination are respectively done between the typical side, typical side and typical surface. It is concluded that common matching rules and combination conclusion of the combination of geometry information. And it implements dynamic combination and recognition of the parts geometry information under the environment of MC-VE. It provides reference for acquiring the parts geometry information of MC-VE in heterogeneous and long-distance.

Abstract: In-depth and detailed requirements of intelligent manufacturing are analyzed for the virtual cloud enterprise, and it is explained that the process of the main task of job scheduling about intelligent manufacturing based on Internet of things. It is concluded that the relationship and associations among parameters after the research of the physical model and object model based on Internet of things. Parameters include the process of production and basic information data. Different orders are analyzed and compared for job scheduling condition, then it is concluded that to get the specific process of qualified products. The detailed analysis and disassemble program are carried on back business of work ticket and splitting business, which makes the management more rationalization and improves the efficiency of intelligent manufacturing. Finally the scheduling of query is carried on and other business query functions have been implemented, which is the solar panels of a factory production. The system of job scheduling is more reasonable and more efficient in scheduling management, which saves time and resources for the enterprise. This research could be applied in the job scheduling of cloud virtual enterprise.

10. Combined effects of total ionizing dose and electromagnetic pulse on a bipolar junction transistor

Abstract: Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) are widely used in the presence of ionizing radiation, such as in space or in the surroundings of nuclear reactors. For the application in these fields, the influence of Total Ionization Dose (TID) and Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) on BJTs should be carefully considered. In this work, for the comprehension of the combined effects of TID and EMP on BJT, a numerical model of a NPN BJT (2N2222) is developed with the semiconductor device simulation software TCAD. The simulated results indicate that the TID of gamma-rays can increase the depletion layer area of the BJT and lead to a reduction of its current gain and that a negative base voltage may in these conditions cause the breakdown of the emitter junction. Therefore, the results obtained indicate that the combined TID and EMP can lower the breakdown voltage of the BJT.

Abstract: In this paper, mechanical properties, scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD),X ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)techniques were combined to investigate the performance and microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy subjected to sole deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) and coupled static magnetic field and deep cryogenic treatment (MDCT) with different processing time. It showed that both the DCT and MDCT samples arrived at the optimal properties when the processing time was 12 h, and the tensile strength and elongation of the DCT12 sample increased by 2.57% and 8.06% respectively in comparison to the untreated sample, while that of MDCT12 sample increased by 3.01% and 11.29%. In DCT samples, the (110) crystal plane has transformed toward (100) and (101). However, the (002) crystal plane of MDCT sample showed the preferred orientation. In addition, the EBSD results showed that both the sole DCT and MDCT promoted the transformation of α→β in titanium alloy, and sole DCT weakened the texture of {0001} direction, while MDCT strengthened it. The change of microstructure was attributed to the grain rotation caused by the effect of cold compression force and magnetic driving force. TEM images revealed that the dislocation density of the DCT sample increased obviously in comparison to the untreated sample, together with the apparent tangling. As for the MDCT sample, the dislocation density increased further, nevertheless, the tangling phenomenon decreased to some extent and the distribution tended to be well-aligned.

Abstract: A massless particle beyond the Standard Model is searched for in the two-body decay Σ+→p+invisible using (1.0087±0.0044)×1010 J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.097GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Σ+→p+invisible) is determined to be 3.2×10−5 at the 90% confidence level. This is the first search for a flavor-changing neutral current process with missing energy in hyperon decays which plays an important role in constraining new physics models.

16. The influence of cryogenic-aging circular treatment on the microstructure and properties of aluminum matrix composites

Abstract: In this paper, the particles reinforced in-situ aluminum matrix composites were processed by the cryogenic-aging circular treatment (CACT). The main parameters are cooling rate ( V : 1, 5, 10 °C/min), soaking time ( T : 24, 36, 48 h) and circular index ( N : 1, 2, 3) which are adopted in the orthogonal experimental design. The phase changes, precipitates sorts and amount, dislocation density, tensile strength and fracture, elongation, impact toughness, residual stress, micro-hardness and abradability of treated composites were researched through advanced modern techniques. The temperature of -108 °C (165 K) is assumed as the phase transition point that corresponds to the S phase transition. With the CACT parameters strengthening, the total precipitates amount will be enhanced where the stable lath η phase with low hardness increase while acicular η′ phase with high hardness decrease. The dislocation density will be increased obviously and the maximum is acquired on the condition of V = 10 °C/min, T = 24 h and N = 1. The tensile strength ( σ b ), elongation (δ) and impact toughness ( a K ) of CACT composites have been enhanced significantly. The average amplifications of them are 14.8%, 56.3% and 10.9% separately in comparison to the untreated sample. The highlighted properties increment is closed linked with the particular microstructure of CACT sample, which have been discussed in detail. Both the abradability and micro-hardness of treated sample are improved. The average wearing loss is decreased by 61.0%, and micro-hardness is raised by 43.7%. With the deepening of cryogenic treatment (increasing V , T and N ), the wear resistance and micro-hardness are both on the rise, but the increase slope is decreasing. The worn surface demonstrates that the wearing mechanisms of CACT composite has changed from adhesive to abrasive wearing together with the microstructure of more fine and narrow furrows.

Abstract: The spin and parity of the charmed mesons Ds⁎+, D⁎0 and D⁎+ are determined for the first time to be JP=1− with significances greater than 10σ over other hypotheses of 2+ and 3−, using an e+e− collision data sample with an integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178 GeV. Different spin-parity hypotheses are tested via a helicity amplitude analysis of the processes e+e−→Ds⁎+Ds−, D⁎0D0 and D⁎+D−, with Ds⁎+→Ds+γ, D⁎0→D0π0, and D⁎+→D+π0. The results confirm the quark model predictions.

19. Adaptive evolution of duplicated hsp17 genes in wild barley from microclimatically divergent sites of Israel

Abstract: Gene duplication is a major evolutionary driving force for establishing new gene functions. However, very little is known about the involvement of the structural divergence of recent duplicated genes in local adaptation. We evaluated the nucleotide variation of recent duplicated pair copies of the hsp17 locus for small heat shock proteins, namely, the older copy hsp17a and the younger copy hsp17b. Forty wild barley (Hordeum spontaneum) genotypes from 7 climatically divergent sites of "Evolution Canyon" I, Mount Carmel, Israel, were investigated for the sequence diversity of their hsp17 copies. We identified single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the hsp17 locus and found 150 SNPs of hsp17a and 135 SNPs of hsp17b in the coding region. Total amino acid substitutions were present at 43 positions of hsp17a and 35 positions of hsp17b among the 7 populations. The genetic divergence and haplotype diversity were significantly different among the populations. The diversity was also correlated with microclimatic interslope divergence factors in the canyon. The natural microclimatic selection appears to adaptively diversify the duplicated copies of hsp17 of wild barley between the opposite warmer and cooler slopes, suggesting that the recent duplication of stress-responsive genes were subjected to adaptive evolution. The gene duplication and the resulting functional divergence enable plants to have better fitness in local climate change.

Abstract: We search for the semi-leptonic decays Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe and Λc+→pKS0π−e+νe in a sample of 4.5fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected in the center-of-mass energy region between 4.600GeV and 4.699GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the decay branching fractions are set to be B(Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe)

21. Dynamic pressure in mould flux channel during mould non-sinusoidal oscillation

Abstract: Based on the lubrication theory of mould flux, a mathematical model of dynamic pressure in mould flux channel was developed, and the distribution of dynamic pressure and its variation during non-sinusoidal oscillation were investigated. The effects of casting speed and non-sinusoidal oscillation parameters, including the degree of non-sinusoidal operation (non-sinusoidal factor), amplitude and frequency of oscillation on the dynamic pressure in the mould flux channel, were studied. The results indicate that the maximum negative pressure is decreased, and the maximum positive pressure is increased with increasing non-sinusoidal factor. The optimum value of non-sinusoidal factor is ∼0·2. With increasing amplitude and frequency of oscillation, both the negative and positive pressure are increased; moreover, the increment of positive pressure is obviously greater than that of negative pressure; especially when the oscillation frequency is increased, the increment of negative pressure is very little. Abstract: Abstract Using 448.1 × 106 ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e + e − storage rings, the branching fractions and angular distributions of the decays χ cJ → Ξ − Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ + and Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 (J = 0, 1, 2) are measured based on a partial-reconstruction technique. The decays χ c1 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 and χ c2 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 7σ and 15σ, respectively. The results of this analysis are in good agreement with previous measurements and have significantly improved precision.

23. Morphological and cytological studies of diploid and colchicine-induced tetraploid lines of crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica L.)

Abstract: The tips of cotyledon-stage seedlings of three crape myrtle cultivars (“Zi Wei”, “Hong Wei” and “Yin Wei”) were treated with colchicine. Various concentrations of colchicine and different treatment durations were tested. Seedlings of “Zi Wei” treated with 0.5% colchicine for 72 h and seedlings of “Yin Wei” treated with colchicine (0.2% for 96 h, 0.5% for 48 h and 0.8% for 72 h) demonstrated high rates of mutation; “Hong Wei” showed a slightly lower rate. The highest rate of morphological variation was 54.17% and this was achieved when tips were treated with 0.5% colchicine for 72 h. Putative tetraploid plants were identified with morphological and cytological variations, such as larger and thicker leaves, darker green coloration, larger stomata, lower density of stomata across the lower leaf epidermis and increased numbers of chloroplasts per stomata guard cell. Flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that the nuclear DNA content of 15 of these putative tetraploids (of which 7 were “Zi Wei”, 5 were “Yin Wei”, and 3 were “Hong Wei”) was indeed doubled relative to that of control diploid plants. The chromosome number of the tetraploid plants was 2 n = 4 x = 96, while that of the control diploid plants was 2 n = 2 x = 48. Ornamental characteristics were also enhanced in the tetraploid plants, with increased diameter of the individual flowers and greater basal length of the petals and claws. Pollen diameter and the size of capsules and seeds were also significantly greater than those of diploid plants.

Abstract: Spinel [Zn.sub.2]Sn[O.sub.4] particles are prepared by a hydrothermal reaction under different conditions and the electrochemical properties of as-prepared products as anode material are tested. The results have shown that the spinel [Zn.sub.2]Sn[O.sub.4] structure exists to a great extent after the first cycle and contributes to the extremely high reversible capacity during the following cycles.

25. Alkylation of anthracene to 2-isopropylanthracene catalyzed by Lewis acid ionic liquids

Abstract: Alkylation of anthracene with 2-chloropropane to 2-isopropylanthracene catalyzed by various Lewis acidic ionic liquids (ILs), such as [Emim]Cl-AlCl3, [Emim]Cl-FeCl3, [Emim]Cl-ZnCl2, [Bmim]Cl-AlCl3, and [Omim]Cl-AlCl3 ([Emim]+=1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium cation, [Bmim]+=1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium cation, [Omim]+=1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium cation,), was investigated. [Emim]C1-A1C13 ionic liquid was found to be the most active catalyst in the alkylation. The yield of 2-isopropylanthracene was up to 74.5% and the selectivity of 2-isopropylanthracene was up to 82.9%. The [Emim]C1-A1C13 ionic liquid catalyst showed good catalytic activity after running for 6 times. Ease of product separation and the recycling performance of the ionic liquid catalyst is expected to contribute to the development of clean and environmentally friendly strategy for the synthesis of 2-isopropylanthracene.

26. Controllable synthesis of fluorapatite nanocrystals with various morphologies: Effects of pH value and chelating reagent

Abstract: Fluorapatite (FHAp) nanocrystals with various morphologies were synthesized through a hydrothermal process in the presence of three different chelating reagents: citric acid (CA), ethylenediamine tetraacetate disodium salt (Na2EDTA), and CA/Na2EDTA mixed chelating reagent. The morphology of FHAp nanocrystal is highly dependent on the pH value and nature of chelating reagent. In the case of CA, two main morphologies of FHAp nanocrystals were observed as pH value was varied from 3.6 to 10.0; while one-dimensional (1D) FHAp nanocrystals with hexagonal structure were always produced in the presence of Na2EDTA under different pH values. When the two chelating reagents mentioned above were simultaneously used, tuning the pH value resulted in not only a morphology change but also a structural transformation due to the synergistic effect of the chelating reagents. A possible mechanism for the formation of FHAp nanocrystals with various morphologies was discussed.

Abstract: The A356 alloy and Zr(CO3)2 components are used to fabricate the in situ Al3Zr, Al2O3 particles reinforced A356 aluminum alloy matrix composites by direct melt reaction method. The average particle sizes are in the range of 1–2 μm. The composite melt is cast by permanent mould (composite A) and squeeze casting (composite B). In composite B the conventional casting defects are less and the grains are finer than those in composites A. The casting process has little apparent effect on the granularity of particles. The tensile strength and elongation of composite B is 345 MPa and 15.07%, respectively, which are enhanced by 1.6 and 2.15 times than those of composite A. The abradability and corrosion resistance are also improved obviously. The better properties including tensile, abradability and corrosion resistance of composite B are attributed to the high density and finer grain of matrix via squeeze casting.

Abstract: We report a search for a dark photon using 14.9 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from 4.13 to 4.60 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring. The dark photon is assumed to be produced in the radiative annihilation process of e+e− and to predominantly decay into light dark matter particles, which escape from the detector undetected. The mass range from 1.5 to 2.9 GeV is scanned for the dark photon candidate, and no significant signal is observed. The mass dependent upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the coupling strength parameter ϵ for a dark photon coupling with an ordinary photon vary between 1.6×10−3 and 5.7×10−3.

Abstract: We search for an axion-like particle (ALP) a through the process ψ(3686)→π+π−J/ψ, J/ψ→γa, a→γγ in a data sample of (2.71±0.01)×109 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector. No significant ALP signal is observed over the expected background, and the upper limits on the branching fraction of the decay J/ψ→γa and the ALP-photon coupling constant gaγγ are set at 95% confidence level in the mass range of 0.165≤ma≤2.84GeV/c2. The limits on B(J/ψ→γa) range from 8.3×10−8 to 1.8×10−6 over the search region, and the constraints on the ALP-photon coupling are the most stringent to date for 0.165≤ma≤1.468GeV/c2.

Abstract: A new hybrid genetic algorithm with the significant improvement of convergence performance is proposed in this study. This algorithm comes from the incorporation of a modified microgenetic algorithm with a local optimizer based on the heuristic pattern move. The hybridization process is implemented by replacing the two worst individuals in the offspring obtained from the conventional genetic operations with two new individuals generated from the local optimizer in each generation. Some implementation-related problems such as the selection of control parameters in the local optimizer are addressed in detail. This new algorithm has been examined using six benchmarking functions, and is compared with the conventional genetic algorithms without the local optimizer incorporated, as well as the hybrid algorithms incorporated with the hill-climbing method in terms of convergence performance. 31. Real-time prediction of projectile penetration to laminates by training machine learning models with finite element solver as the trainer

Abstract: Studies on ballistic penetration to laminates is complicated, but important for design effective protection of structures. Experimental means of study is expensive and can often be dangerous. Numerical simulation has been an excellent supplement, but the computation is time-consuming. Main aim of this thesis was to develop and test an effective tool for real-time prediction of projectile penetrations to laminates by training a neural network and a decision tree regression model. A large number of finite element models were developed; the residual velocities of projectiles from finite element simulations were used as the target data and processed to produce sufficient number of training samples. Study focused on steel 4340+polyurea laminates with various configurations. Four different 3D shapes of the projectiles were modeled and used in the training. The trained neural network and decision tree model was tested using independently generated test samples using finite element models. The predicted projectile velocity values using the trained machine learning models are then compared with the finite element simulation to verify the effectiveness of the models. Additionally, both models were trained using a published experimental data of projectile impacts to predict residual velocity of projectiles for the unseen samples. Performance of both the models was evaluated and compared. Models trained with Finite element simulation data samples were found capable to give more accurate predication, compared to the models trained with experimental data, because finite element modeling can generate much larger training set, and thus finite element solvers can serve as an excellent teacher. This study also showed that neural network model performs better with small experimental dataset compared to decision tree regression model.

Abstract: Multilayer piezoelectric transformers have a high potential for use in power supply units because they exhibit a large power to volume ratio and allow the flexibility in the design of voltage ratio, output impedance and output power. Although some work has been done in the design and theoretical analysis of multilayer piezoelectric transformers, it is still difficult to predict their performance accurately before fabrication. In this paper, an attempt has been made to reduce the design problem by adopting all improved method of analysis. By introducing two piezoelectric resistances to the equivalent circuit and by improving the method of calculation of equivalent circuit parameters, good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results of power and efficiency characteristics has been achieved. Also, a valid approach to the estimation of the maximum output power has been obtained. In addition, useful guidelines for optimizing the design of multilayer structures have been established.

Abstract: The preparation and characterization of multilayer actuators with fifty layers (100 /spl mu/m in thickness) of piezoelectric [(Pb/sub (1-x/)Ba/sub x/)/sub 6-y/(NaLi)/sub y/Nb/sub 10/O/sub 30/] (PBNN) were reported, which were prepared by tape-casting and cofired with internal Pd30+Ag70 electrodes. The PBNN wafers prepared by the tape-casting technique were compared with those prepared by conventional dry-pressure techniques. Delaminations occurring in the layers of some actuators were observed and discussed. The obtained high linearity and low hysteresis in the displacement-applied field, the symmetric displacement under positive and negative applied field, were discussed in relation to the crystal and domain structure.

Abstract: In the design of ultrasonic transducers for medical and non-destructive applications, the active area of the transducer is an important factor for performance. In this paper, the optimum active area and the thickness dependence of P(VDF-TrFE) piezo-copolymer films for unturned ultrasonic transducers are discussed in terms of the transducer loss (TL), obtained from the modified Mason's equivalent circuit. The experimental results of TL agree with the simulations for two unturned P(VDF-TrFE) ultrasonic transducers, with 41 and 83 /spl mu/m thick piezo-polymer films, respectively.

Abstract: The piezoelectric properties of PVDF and its co-polymers, P(VDF-TrFE) and P(VDF-TeFE), are studied in a temperature range from room temperature down to 10 K by the piezoelectric resonance method. Although sound velocity and dielectric constants of these films depend strongly on temperature, the electromechanical coupling factor K/sub t/ remains essentially constant int he temperature range examined; the value of K/sub t/ at 10 K is 0.29 for P(VDF-TeFE), 0.18 for PVDF, and 0.15 for P(VDF-TeFE). The temperature-independent K/sub t/ is discussed in terms of the electrostriction, with the electrostriction coefficient observed to be almost independent of temperature. Two examples are described to show that P(VDF-TrFE) transducers work efficiently even at very low temperatures. >

Abstract: Using e+e− collision data at ten center-of-mass energies between 2.644 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 500 pb−1, we measure the cross sections and effective form factors for the process e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 utilizing a single-tag method. A fit to the cross section of e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 with a pQCD-driven power function is performed, from which no significant resonance or threshold enhancement is observed. In addition, the ratio of cross sections for the processes e+e−→Ξ−Ξ¯+ and Ξ0Ξ¯0 is calculated using recent BESIII measurement and is found to be compatible with expectation from isospin symmetry.

Abstract: Using 5.9 pb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies from 3.640 to 3.701 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII Collider, we measure the observed cross sections of e+e−→KS0X (where X=anything). From a fit to these observed cross sections with the sum of continuum and ψ(3686) and J/ψ Breit-Wigner functions and considering initial state radiation and the BEPCII beam energy spread, we obtain for the first time the product of ψ(3686) leptonic width and inclusive decay branching fraction Γψ(3686)eeB(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(373.8±6.7±20.0) eV, and assuming Γψ(3686)ee is (2.33±0.04) keV from PDG value, we measure B(ψ(3686)→KS0X)=(16.04±0.29±0.90)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: The electromagnetic process e+e−→pp¯ is studied with the initial-state-radiation technique using 7.5 fb−1 of data collected by the BESIII experiment at seven energy points from 3.773 to 4.600 GeV. The Born cross section and the effective form factor of the proton are measured from the production threshold to 3.0 GeV/c2 using the pp¯ invariant-mass spectrum. The ratio of electric and magnetic form factors of the proton is determined from the analysis of the proton-helicity angular distribution.

40. The intensity of and recovery from photoinhibition under drought in a thermotolerant common bean compared to drought tolerant genotypes

Abstract: The chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters of four Phaseolus vulgaris L. genotypes were evaluated under drought in two greenhouse experiments. Under severe water stress, the thermotolerant genotype 'Diplomata' maintained significantly higher values of predawn leaf water potential (Ψw), maximum Fv/Fm and effective (ΦPSII) quantum yield of photosystem II , and non-photochemical quenching than 'Ouro Negro', in the first experiment, and 'A 285' and 'A 222', in the second one. Among these parameters, Fv/Fm showed more differences that discriminated between the genotype responses even when measured at night. Next, a difference between Fv/Fm after sundown and Fv/Fm at dawn on the same day (day ∆Fv/Fm), i.e., the intensity of photoinhibition, and a difference between Fv/Fm at dawn and Fv/Fm after sundown on the day before (night ∆Fv/Fm), i.e. the photoinhibition recovery, were evaluated. Day ∆Fv/Fm and night ∆Fv/Fm were significantly higher for 'Diplomata' under severe water stress in both experiments. In addition, 'Ouro Negro' in the first experiment and all the genotypes in the second showed negative values of night ∆Fv/Fm on the last day of drought when their Ψw were also minimal indicating no recovery from photoinhibition and the need for rehydration. At maturation, stressed plants of 'Diplomata' showed a significantly higher yield than 'Ouro Negro' in the first experiment and the same as 'A 285' in the second. Therefore, the thermotolerant genotype 'Diplomata' also showed drought tolerance, and the use of day ∆Fv/Fm and night ∆Fv/Fm fluorescence analysis was able to discriminate between the tolerances of these genotypes and to indicate the need for rehydration.

Abstract: Using 16 energy points of e+e− annihilation data collected in the vicinity of the J/ψ resonance with the BESIII detector and with a total integrated luminosity of around 100pb−1, we study the relative phase between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes of J/ψ decays. The relative phase between J/ψ electromagnetic decay and the continuum process (e+e− annihilation without the J/ψ resonance) is confirmed to be zero by studying the cross section lineshape of μ+μ− production. The relative phase between J/ψ strong and electromagnetic decays is then measured to be (84.9±3.6)∘ or (−84.7±3.1)∘ for the 2(π+π−)π0 final state by investigating the interference pattern between the J/ψ decay and the continuum process. This is the first measurement of the relative phase between J/ψ strong and electromagnetic decays into a multihadron final state using the lineshape of the production cross section. We also study the production lineshape of the multihadron final state ηπ+π− with η→π+π−π0, which provides additional information about the phase between the J/ψ electromagnetic decay amplitude and the continuum process. Additionally, the branching fraction of J/ψ→2(π+π−)π0 is measured to be (4.73±0.44)% or (4.85±0.45)%, and the branching fraction of J/ψ→ηπ+π− is measured to be (3.78±0.68)×10−4. Both of them are consistent with the world average values. The quoted uncertainties include both statistical and systematic uncertainties, which are mainly caused by the low statistics. Abstract: In Ref. [1] the BESIII collaboration published a cross section measurement of the process e+e−→π+π− in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV. In this corrigendum, we report a corrected evaluation of the statistical errors in terms of a fully propagated covariance matrix. The correction also yields a reduced statistical uncertainty for the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, which now reads as aμππ,LO(600−900MeV)=(368.2±1.5stat±3.3syst)×10−10. The central values of the cross section measurement and of aμππ,LO, as well as the systematic uncertainties remain unchanged.

Abstract: We report a study of the e+e−→D+D−π+π− process using e+e− collision data samples with an integrated luminosity of 2.5fb−1 at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The D1(2420)+ is observed in the D+π+π− mass spectrum. The mass and width of the D1(2420)+ are measured to be (2427.2±1.0stat.±1.2syst.)MeV/c2 and (23.2±2.3stat.±2.3syst.)MeV, respectively. In addition, the Born cross sections of the e+e−→D1(2420)+D−+c.c.→D+D−π+π− and e+e−→ψ(3770)π+π−→D+D−π+π− processes are measured as a function of the center-of-mass energy.

Abstract: Using a data sample of e+e− collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.773GeV, we search for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D0→π0π0π0, π0π0η, π0ηη and ηηη using the double tag method. The absolute branching fractions are measured to be B(D0→π0π0π0)=(2.0±0.4±0.3)×10−4, B(D0→π0π0η)=(3.8±1.1±0.7)×10−4 and B(D0→π0ηη)=(7.3±1.6±1.5)×10−4 with the statistical significances of 4.8σ, 3.8σ and 5.5σ, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. No significant signal of D0→ηηη is found, and the upper limit on its decay branching fraction is set to be B(D0→ηηη)

Abstract: Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform a search for an extra U(1) gauge boson, also denoted as a dark photon. We examine the initial state radiation reactions e+e−→e+e−γISR and e+e−→μ+μ−γISR for this search, where the dark photon would appear as an enhancement in the invariant mass distribution of the leptonic pairs. We observe no obvious enhancement in the mass range between 1.5 and 3.4 GeV/c2 and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the mixing strength of the dark photon and the Standard Model photon. We obtain a competitive limit in the tested mass range.

Abstract: Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at six center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.600 GeV, we observe the processes e+e−→ϕϕω and e+e−→ϕϕϕ. The Born cross sections are measured and the ratio of the cross sections σ(e+e−→ϕϕω)/σ(e+e−→ϕϕϕ) is estimated to be 1.75±0.22±0.19 averaged over six energy points, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results represent first measurements of these interactions.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the decay Λc+→Σ−π+π+π0, based on data obtained in e+e− annihilations with an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1 at s=4.6 GeV. The data were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The absolute branching fraction B(Λc+→Σ−π+π+π0) is determined to be (2.11±0.33(stat.)±0.14(syst.))%. In addition, an improved measurement of B(Λ+c→Σ−π+π+) is determined as (1.81±0.17(stat.)±0.09(syst.))%.

Abstract: Based on e+e− annihilation data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at 13 center-of-mass energies from 4.008 to 4.600 GeV, measurements of the Born cross section of e+e−→pp¯π0 are performed. No significant resonant structure is observed in the measured energy dependence of the cross section. The upper limit on the Born cross section of e+e−→Y(4260)→pp¯π0 at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.01 pb. The upper limit on the ratio of the branching fractions B(Y(4260)→pp¯π0)B(Y(4260)→π+π−J/ψ) at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.02%. Keywords: Hadrons, Cross section measurements, Y(4260)

Abstract: We study the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to the final states Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 and Ξ0Ξ¯0 based on a single baryon tag method using data samples of (1310.6±7.0)×106 J/ψ and (447.9±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 are observed for the first time. The measured branching fractions of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to Ξ0Ξ¯0 are in good agreement with, and much more precise than, the previously published results. The angular parameters for these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay parameter for J/ψ→Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0, α=−0.64±0.03±0.10, is found to be negative, different to the other decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the “12% rule” and isospin symmetry in the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to ΞΞ¯ and Σ(1385)Σ¯(1385) are tested.

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λc+→Λμ+νμ. This measurement is based on a sample of e+e− annihilation data produced at a center-of-mass energy s=4.6 GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)=(3.49±0.46(stat)±0.27(syst))%. In addition, we calculate the ratio B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)/B(Λc+→Λe+νe) to be 0.96±0.16(stat)±0.04(syst).
