Osteochondral autograft transplantation (mosaicplasty) for the osteochondral defects of the femoral head is generally performed with safe dislocation of the hip joint. Here, we present a 27-year-old male patient who had a symptomatic osteochondral defect of the femoral head and underwent mosaicplasty applied by hip arthroscopy without surgical hip dislocation. The preoperative radiological evaluation showed a focal osteochondral defect on the weight-bearing surface of the femoral head. With the assistance of hip arthroscopy, the defect area was reconstructed with osteochondral plug, which was taken from the ipsilateral knee, inserted in a retrograde fashion, and positioned with the spherical surface of the femoral head cartilage under fluoroscopic and arthroscopic control. At the final follow-up (26 months postoperatively), he had full range of motion (ROM) without pain and radiographic evaluation showed near complete incorporation of the graft with preservation of the native joint space. Mosaicplasty can be applied in a retrograde fashion with the assistance of hip arthroscopy without using surgical hip dislocation and may be an alternative treatment option for the osteochondral defects of the femoral head in young patients.

Abstract Introduction Patellar tendon ossification is a rare pathology that may be seen as a complication after sleeve fractures of the tibial tuberosity, total patellectomy during arthroplasty, intramedullary nailing of tibial fractures, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with patellar tendon autograft and knee injury without fracture. However, its occurrence after partial patellectomy surgery has never been reported in the literature. Case presentation We present the case of a 35-year-old Turkish man with a comminuted inferior patellar pole fracture that was treated with partial patellectomy. During the follow-up period, his patellar tendon healed with ossification and then ruptured from the inferior attachment to the tibial tubercle. The ossification was excised and the tendon was subsequently repaired. Conclusion To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of patellar tendon ossification occurring after partial patellectomy. Orthopaedic surgeons are thus cautioned to be conscious of this rare complication after partial patellectomy.

Abstract Introduction Simultaneous supracondylar humerus fracture and ipsilateral fracture of the proximal humerus in children is rare. Case presentation A 10-year-old Turkish boy with an extension type supracondylar humerus fracture and ipsilateral fracture at the proximal metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction of the humerus was treated by closed reduction and percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation. Closed reduction was performed using a Kirschner wire as a "joystick" to manipulate the humeral shaft after some swelling occurred around the elbow and shoulder. Conclusion The combination of fractures at the proximal and distal parts of the humerus can be termed as "floating arm" injury. Initial treatment of this unusual injury should be focused on the supracondylar humerus fracture. However, closed reduction can be difficult to perform with the swelling around the elbow and shoulder. A temporary Kirschner wire can be used as a "joystick" to fix and reduce the fracture.

Abstract Introduction Bilateral fractures of the distal radius and scaphoid are extremely rare injuries. Case presentation A patient with bilateral comminuted, displaced distal fractures of the radius and bilateral fractures of the scaphoid was treated via internal fixation of the scaphoid fractures with Herbert screws and internal fixation of the distal radius fractures with locked volar plating. Conclusion Rigid internal fixation of distal radius and scaphoid fractures is mandatory to start early active rehabilitation of the wrist without the need for wrist immobilization with a plaster or external skeletal fixation.

Statement of Problem: Currently available 3-dimensional (3D) additively manufactured (AM) resins used for definitive restorations have different chemical compositions and viscosities. The fabrication trueness and margin quality of laminate veneers additively manufactured with different resins have not been extensively studied., Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the fabrication trueness and margin quality of AM and subtractively manufactured (SM) definitive resin-based laminate veneers., Material and Methods: A laminate veneer restoration for a maxillary right central incisor with a 25-µm cement space was designed to generate a reference laminate veneer standard tessellation language (STL) file (RLV-STL). This RLV-STL was used to fabricate resin-based laminate veneers (N=60) for definitive use, either using AM (a low-viscosity, urethane acrylate-based resin (C&B Permanent, AM-LV), a high-viscosity, urethane acrylate-based resin (Tera Harz TC-80DP, AM-HV), and a glass-reinforced composite resin (Crowntec, AM-S) or SM (glass-filler reinforced composite resin blocks (Tetric CAD, SM) technologies. All laminate veneers were digitized with an intraoral scanner (CEREC Primescan SW 5.2) to generate their test STL files (TLV-STLs). RLV-STL and TLV-STLs were transferred into a 3D analysis software program (Geomagic Control X), and a trueness (external, intaglio, and marginal surface) analysis was performed by using the root mean square (RMS) method. The margin quality of laminate veneers was examined visually under a stereomicroscope and graded. The Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn tests were performed to analyze the data (α=.05)., Results: External, intaglio, and marginal RMS values showed statistically significant differences among test groups (P<.001). The SM group had the highest RMS values for the external surface (P<.001), whereas the AM-LV group had the lowest RMS values. The AM-HV group had the highest RMS values for the intaglio surface (P<.001). No significant difference was found between the SM and AM-HV groups for marginal RMS values, which were higher than for the other groups (P=.830). All average values for the axial mesial, axial distal, and incisal edge margin quality of laminate veneers were found to be similar and Grade 3 (smooth edge) in all groups., Conclusions: Regardless of the evaluated surface, the fabrication technique affected the trueness of laminate veneers. The low-viscosity AM laminate veneers and AM laminate veneers reinforced with glass fillers had higher trueness than the SM laminate veneers at all surfaces. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of material type on dimensional stability, occlusal surface wear, fracture resistance, and failure behavior of resin-based onlay restorations., Material and Methods: A mandibular right first molar typodont was prepared and digitized using an intraoral scanner to virtually design an onlay restoration with the minimum occlusal thickness of 1.5 mm. Resin-based onlay restorations (n = 15 per group) were fabricated either additively from 2 different resins indicated either for definitive or interim use or subtractively with a composite resin. After cementing onlays to corresponding dies, each of them was digitized before and after thermomechanical aging (B-STL and A-STL), and then subjected to load-to-failure test to evaluate fracture resistance. The B-STL and A-STL of each onlay were also compared to assess the dimensional stability and occlusal surface wear. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey honestly significant difference tests were used to evaluate dimensional stability, occlusal surface wear, and fracture resistance. The chi-square test was used to evaluate the Weibull modulus and characteristic strength among the groups (α = 0.05)., Results: Material type affected investigated outcomes (p < 0.001). The additively manufactured resin indicated for definitive use led to the highest external surface deviations and the additively manufactured resin indicated for interim use led to the highest mesiodistal width deviations (p ≤ 0.033). The onlays fabricated from the additively manufactured resin indicated for definitive use had the highest occlusal surface wear, while those in composite resin had the lowest (p ≤ 0.006). The composite resin onlays had the highest fracture resistance values and reliability (p ≤ 0.035)., Conclusions: Tested subtractively manufactured composite resin had the lowest occlusal surface wear with the highest fracture resistance and reliability. Objectives: To digitally evaluate the trueness and fit of additively and subtractively manufactured fixed complete dentures in materials intended for definitive use., Methods: An edentulous maxillary model with implants at the left first molar, left canine, right canine, and right first molar site was digitized and a fixed complete denture was designed. This design was used to fabricate fixed dentures in an additively manufactured resin for definitive use (AM), a high-impact polymer composite (SM-CR), and a strength gradient zirconia (SM-ZR) (n = 10). Each fixed denture was digitized and the surface (overall, occlusal, except occlusal, and abutments), linear, and interimplant distance deviations were analyzed. The fit was assessed with the triple-scan protocol. Data were analyzed with Welch analysis of variance and Games-Howell tests (α = 0.05)., Results: SM-ZR led to lower overall deviations than AM, which had the highest occlusal and the lowest abutments deviations (P ≤ 0.007). SM-ZR had the lowest occlusal and SM-CR had the highest except occlusal deviations (P ≤ 0.002). AM mostly had higher linear and SM-CR mostly had higher interimplant distance deviations (P ≤ 0.043). AM led to the highest marginal gap at the left canine site, while SM-CR had the highest and SM-ZR had the lowest gaps at the right canine site (P ≤ 0.022)., Conclusions: SM-ZR dentures mostly had trueness and marginal fit similar to or better than the other groups. Purpose: To evaluate how build orientation affects the fabrication trueness of additively manufactured implant-supported complete arch prostheses by comparing them to subtractively manufactured high-impact polymer-based prostheses., Materials and Methods: An edentulous maxillary model with four implants at canine and first molar regions bilaterally was digitized (ATOS Core 80 5MP) to design a reference implant-supported complete arch prosthesis standard tessellation language file (RF-STL). The STL file was used to manufacture prostheses additively in five different orientations according to the build platform (AM-0, 0-degree; AM-15, 15-degree; AM-30, 30-degree; AM-45, 45-degree; AM-90, 90-degree) or subtractively (SM-HIP, control) (n = 10). The prostheses were digitized with an intraoral scanner (Trios 3) to generate their STLs (TF-STL). After superimposing TF-STLs over the RF-STL with a metrology-grade analysis software program (Geomagic Control X), surface deviations at four regions (overall, occlusal, overall without occlusal, and abutments), linear deviations at each abutment site, and interimplant distance deviations (canine-to-molar, canine-to-canine, and molar-to-molar) were calculated. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey HSD tests were used for the statistical analyses (α = 0.05)., Results: AM-90 mostly had the highest surface deviations, while AM-0 had the lowest overall, and lowest overall without occlusal region deviations (p ≤ 0.022). SM-HIP had the lowest occlusal region deviations (p < 0.001). AM-90 had the highest linear deviations (p < 0.001). AM-15 had higher canine-to-molar deviations than SM-HIP (p = 0.042). SM-HIP had the highest canine-to-canine deviations, while AM-90 had higher deviations than AM-0 and AM-30 (p ≤ 0.026). AM-45 and AM-90 had the highest and AM-0 had the lowest molar-to-molar deviations (p ≤ 0.013)., Conclusions: AM-0 mostly had higher trueness and AM-90 mostly had lower trueness within tested outcomes. Background: There is limited knowledge on the fabrication trueness and fit of additively or subtractively manufactured complete-arch implant-supported frameworks in recently introduced polymers., Purpose: To evaluate the trueness and marginal fit of additively or subtractively manufactured polymer-based complete-arch implant-supported frameworks, comparing with those of strength gradient zirconia frameworks., Materials and Methods: A typodont model with 4 implants (left first molar (abutment 1), left canine (abutment 2), right canine (abutment 3), and right first molar (abutment 4)) was digitized (ATOS Core 80 5MP) and an implant-supported complete-arch framework was designed. This design file was used to fabricate frameworks from 5 different materials: strength gradient zirconia (SM-ZR), high impact polymer composite (SM-CR), nanographene-reinforced PMMA (SM-GR), PMMA (SM-PM), and additively manufactured temporary resin (AM) (n = 10). These frameworks were digitized and each scan file was virtually segmented into 4 regions (abutments, occlusal, overall without occlusal, and overall). The surface deviations at these regions, and linear and interimplant distance deviations were evaluated (Geomagic Control X). Marginal gaps were evaluated according to triple-scan protocol after seating frameworks on the model with the 1-screw test. Data were statistically analyzed (α = 0.05)., Results: Surface deviations of all regions differed among tested materials (p ≤ 0.001). AM frameworks mostly had surface deviations that were similar to or lower than those of other materials (p ≤ 0.031), except for the occlusal surface, where it mostly had higher deviations (p ≤ 0.013). Abutment 4 of SM-CR had higher linear deviations than abutment 2 (p = 0.025), and material type did not affect the linear deviations within abutments (p ≥ 0.171). Interimplant distance deviations differed within and among materials (p ≤ 0.017), except for those between abutments 1 and 2 among materials (p = 0.387). Marginal gaps of subtractively manufactured materials differed among abutments, while those of abutments 3 and 4 differed among materials (p ≤ 0.003). AM frameworks mostly had lower marginal gaps at abutments 3 and 4 (p ≤ 0.048)., Conclusions: Although there was no clear trend among tested materials for measured deviations, marginal gaps of additively manufactured resin were mostly lower than those of subtractively manufactured materials and did not differ among abutment sites. Nevertheless, the differences in measured deviations among materials were small and marginal gaps were within the previously reported acceptability thresholds., (© 2024 The Author(s). Statement of Problem: Cantilevered complete arch implant-supported prostheses are commonly fabricated from zirconia and more recently from strength gradient zirconia. Different polymer-based materials indicated for definitive fixed prostheses that could be used with additive or subtractive manufacturing have also been marketed recently. However, knowledge on the long-term fatigue behavior of cantilevered implant-supported prostheses made from these polymer-based materials and strength gradient zirconia is lacking., Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the fatigue behavior of implant-supported cantilevered prostheses of recently introduced computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing polymers and zirconia., Material and Methods: A master standard tessellation language file of a 9×11×20-mm specimen with a titanium base (Ti-base) space that represented an implant-supported cantilevered prosthesis was used to fabricate specimens from additively manufactured interim resin (AM), polymethyl methacrylate (SM-PM), nanographene-reinforced polymethyl methacrylate (SM-GR), high-impact polymer composite resin (SM-CR), and strength gradient zirconia (SM-ZR) (n=10). Each specimen was prepared by following the respective manufacturer's recommendations, and Ti-base abutments were cemented with an autopolymerizing luting composite resin. After cementation, the specimens were mounted in a mastication simulator and subjected to 1.2 million loading cycles under 100 N at 1.5 Hz; surviving specimens were subjected to another 1.2 million loading cycles under 200 N at 1.5 Hz. The load was applied to the cantilever extension, 12-mm from the clamp of the mastication simulator. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards model were used to evaluate the data (α=.05)., Results: Significant differences in survival rate and hazard ratio were observed among materials (P<.001). Among tested materials, SM-ZR had the highest and AM had the lowest survival rate (P≤.031). All materials had a significantly higher hazard ratio than SM-ZR (P≤.011) in the increasing order of SM-GR, SM-PM, SM-CR, and AM., Conclusions: SM-ZR had the highest survival rate with no failed specimens. Even though most of the tested polymer-based materials failed during cyclic loading, these failures were commonly observed during the second 1.2 million loading cycles with 200 N. Purpose: To evaluate the flexural strength (FS) and microhardness of various CAD/CAM restorative materials intended for definitive use. The effect of hydrothermal aging on the mechanical properties of these materials was also investigated., Materials and Methods: A total of 210 bar-shaped specimens (17 × 4 × 1.5 mm ± 0.02 mm) were fabricated via either subtractive manufacturing (SM) methods-reinforced composite resin (SM-CR), polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (SM-PICN), fine-structured feldspathic ceramic (SMFC), nanographene-reinforced polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA; SM-GPMMA), PMMAbased resin (SM-PMMA)-or additive manufacturing (AM) methods with urethane acrylate-based resins (AM-UA1 and AM-UA2). Specimens were then divided into two subgroups (nonaged or hydrothermal aging; n = 15). A three-point flexural strength test was performed, and five specimens from the nonaged group were submitted to microhardness testing. Specimens were subjected to 10,000 thermal cycles, and the measurements were repeated., Results: Regardless of aging, SM-CR had the highest FS (P < .001), followed by SM-GPMMA (P ≤ .042). In nonaged groups, AM-UA2 had a lower FS than all other materials except SM-FC (P = 1.000). In hydrothermal aging groups, AM specimens had lower FS values than other materials, except SM-PMMA. With regard to microhardness, there was no significant difference found between any of the tested materials (P ≥ .945) in the nonaged and hydrothermal aging groups., Conclusions: The effect of hydrothermal aging on FS varied depending on the type of restorative material. Regardless of aging condition, SM-CR showed the highest FS values, whereas SM-FC had the highest microhardness. Hydrothermal aging had no significant influence on the microhardness of the tested materials.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of model resin type and time interval on the dimensional stability of additively manufactured diagnostic casts., Materials and Methods: Ten irreversible hydrocolloid impressions and 10 impressions from an intraoral scanner were made from a reference maxillary stone cast, which was also digitized with a laboratory scanner. Conventional impressions were poured in type III stone (SC), while digital impressions were used to additively manufacture casts with a nanographene-reinforced model resin (GP) or a model resin (DM). All casts were digitized with the same laboratory scanner 1 day (T0), 1 week (T1), 2 weeks (T2), 3 weeks (T3), and 4 weeks (T4) after fabrication. Cast scans were superimposed over the reference cast scan to evaluate dimensional stability. Data were analyzed with Bonferroni-corrected repeated measures ANOVA (α = .05)., Results: The interaction between the main factors (material type and time interval) affected anterior teeth deviations, while the individual main factors affected anterior teeth and entire-cast deviations (P ≤ .008). Within anterior teeth, DM had the lowest deviations at T3, and GP mostly had lower values at T2 and lower deviations at T3 than at T0 (P ≤ .041). SC had the highest pooled anterior teeth deviations, and GP had the highest pooled entire cast deviations (P < .001). T3 had lower pooled anterior teeth deviations than at T0, T1, and T4, and higher pooled entire cast deviations than T1 were demonstrated (P ≤ .027)., Conclusions: The trueness of nanographene-reinforced casts was either similar to or higher than that of other casts. Dimensional changes were acceptable during the course of 1 month.

Purpose: To assess the manufacturing accuracy, intaglio surface adaptation, and survival of resin-based CAD/CAM definitive crowns created via additive manufacturing (AM) or subtractive manufacturing (SM)., Materials and Methods: A maxillary right first molar crown was digitally designed and manufactured using AM hybrid resin composite (VarseoSmile Crown Plus, Bego [AM-HRC]), AM glass filler-reinforced resin composite (Crowntec, Saremco Dental [AM-RC]), and SM polymer-infiltrated ceramic (Vita Enamic, VITA Zahnfabrik [SM-PICN]). Manufacturing accuracy (trueness and precision) was assessed by computing the root mean square (RMS) error (in μm; n = 15 per material). Intaglio surface adaptation was assessed by calculating the average gap distance (μm). Ten crowns from each group were cemented on fiberglass-reinforced epoxy resin dies and cyclically loaded to simulate 5 years of functional loading. One-way ANOVA, post hoc Bonferroni comparison tests, and Levene's test were used to analyze the data (α = .05)., Results: AM-RC had higher overall trueness than AM-HRC and SM-PICN (P ≤ .05), whereas the trueness of AM-RC on the external surface was similar to that of SM-PICN (P = .99) and higher than AM-HRC (P = .001). SM-PICN had lower precision than AM-RC and AM-HRC overall and at internal occlusal surfaces (P ≤ .05). Overall intaglio surface adaptation was similar between all groups (P = .531). However, for the axial intaglio surface, AM-RC and AM-HRC had higher adaptation than SM-PICN (P ≤ .05). All tested crowns survived the cyclic loading simulation of 5 years clinical use., Conclusions: AM-RC showed high manufacturing accuracy and adaptation. The tested resin-based CAD/CAM materials demonstrated clinically acceptable manufacturing accuracy and simulated medium-term durability, justifying the initiation of clinical investigations to determine their potential implementation in daily clinical practice.

Purpose: To evaluate the fabrication trueness, intaglio surface adaptation, and marginal integrity of resin-based onlay restorations made via additive manufacturing (AM) or subtractive manufacturing (SM)., Materials and Methods: An onlay restoration was designed (DentalCAD Galway 3.0) and saved as an STL file to generate a design STL file (DO-STL). Using this design, 45 onlays were fabricated either with AM (3D-printed resin for definitive [AM-D; Tera Harz TC-80DP] and interim [AM-I; Freeprint temp] restorations) or SM (composite resin, Tetric CAD) technologies. Onlays were scanned with an intraoral scanner (CEREC Primescan SW 5.2), and the scans were saved as test STL files (TO-STLs). For trueness evaluation, TO-STLs were superimposed over the DO-STL, and root mean square (RMS) values of overall and intaglio surfaces were measured (Geomagic Control X). For the intaglio surface adaptation and marginal integrity, a triple-scan protocol was performed. Kolmogorov-Smirnov, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc Tukey honestly significant difference tests were used to analyze data (α = .05)., Results: RMS values of intaglio and overall surfaces, intaglio adaptation, and marginal integrity varied among test groups (P < .001). AM-D had the greatest overall surface RMS (P < .001), while SM had the greatest intaglio surface RMS (P < .001). SM had the highest average distance deviations for intaglio surface adaptation and marginal integrity, whereas AM-D had the lowest (P < .001)., Conclusions: AM-D onlays showed lower overall trueness than AM-I onlays and SM definitive onlays. However, AM-D onlays presented high intaglio surface trueness, intaglio surface adaptation, and marginal integrity.

Purpose: To evaluate the metameric disparities among monolithic zirconia materials with differing yttrium compositions across various lighting conditions., Materials and Methods: Thirty-six square-shaped zirconia samples measuring 10 × 10 × 0.5 mm were prepared from monolithic zirconia materials with three different yttrium contents. A 0.2 mm thick layer of polymerized dual-polymerizable self-adhesive resin cement was created using a silicone mold with the same dimensions as the prepared zirconia specimens. To evaluate metamerism, color measurements were conducted using a spectrophotometer device on a neutral gray background in a color measurement cabinet that offers four different illumination environments. All samples underwent aging by subjecting them to 10000 thermal cycles using a thermal cycle tester. Following thermal aging, color measurements were taken once more, and the data were recorded using the CIE L * , a * , b * color system. Two-way ANOVA and Post-hoc Bonferroni tests were employed to analyze the data., Results: It was observed that there was no statistical difference among the color measurements made in different illumination environments of the monolithic zirconia ceramics used to evaluate metamerism ( P > .05). This observation remained consistent both before and after thermal aging. After thermal aging, the color of monolithic zirconia materials exhibited a tendency towards red and yellow hues, accompanied by a decrease in brightness levels., Conclusion: It can be stated that different illumination conditions did not affect the metamerism of monolithic zirconia materials, but there was a color change in monolithic zirconia materials after a thermal aging period equivalent to one year., (© 2024 The Korean Academy of Prosthodontics.)

Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy of the scans of the combined healing abutment-scan body (CHA-SB) system located at different sites of the maxilla when SBs are replaced in between each scan., Methods: Three SBs were seated into HAs located at the central incisor, first premolar, and first molar sites of a maxillary model inside a phantom head, and the model was scanned extraorally (CEREC Primescan SW 5.2). This procedure was repeated with new SBs until a total of 10 scans were performed. Standard tessellation language files of CHA-SBs at each implant location were isolated, transferred into analysis software (Geomagic Control X), and superimposed over the proprietary library files to analyze surface (root mean square), linear, and angular deviations. Trueness and precision were evaluated with one-way analysis of variance and Tukey tests. The correlation between surface and angular deviations was analyzed with Pearson's correlation (α=0.05)., Results: Molar implant scans had the highest surface and angular deviations (P≤.006), while central incisor implant scans had higher precision (surface deviations) than premolar implant scans (P=.041). Premolar implant scans had higher accuracy than central incisor implant scans on the y-axis (P≤.029). Central incisor implant scans had the highest accuracy on the z-axis (P≤.018). A strong positive correlation was observed between surface and angular deviations (r = 0.864, P<.001)., Conclusion: Central incisor implant scans mostly had high accuracy and molar implant scans mostly had lower trueness. SBs were mostly positioned apically; however, the effect of SB replacement can be considered small as measured deviations were similar to those in previous studies and the precision of scans was high., Clinical Significance: Repositioning of scan bodies into healing abutments would be expected to result in similar single crown positioning regardless of the location of the implant, considering high scan precision with the healing abutment-scan body system. Objectives: To investigate the effect of implant-abutment connection and screw channel angle on screw stability by comparing a newly introduced and an established connection, before and after cyclic loading., Materials and Methods: Implants (N = 44) with Torcfit (TF) or Crossfit (CF) connection were divided to be restored with a straight (CFS and TFS) or an angled screw access channel (CFA and TFA) titanium-base abutment (n = 11). CFA and TFA received screw-retained crowns, whereas CFS and TFS received hybrid zirconia abutments and cement-retained crowns. The initial torque value (ITV) of each complex (ITV I ) and removal torque value (RTV) after 24 h (RTV I ) were measured. Screws were replaced with new ones, ITVs were recorded again (ITV F ), and crowns were cyclically loaded (2.4 million cycles, 98 N) to measure RTVs again (RTV F ). Percentage torque loss was calculated. Data were analyzed (α = 0.05)., Results: ITVs were similar among groups (p ≥ .089). CF led to higher RTVs (p ≤ .002), while CFS had higher RTV I than CFA (p = .023). After 24 h, CFS had lower percentage torque loss than TF, while CFA had lower percentage torque loss than TFA (p ≤ .011). After cyclic loading, CF led to lower percentage torque (p < .001)., Conclusion: The implant-abutment connection affected the removal torque values. However, no screw loosening occurred during cyclic loading, which indicated a stable connection for all groups. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of fiber-reinforced composite base material on fracture resistance and fracture pattern of endodontically treated maxillary premolars restored with endocrowns using two different resin nanoceramic computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) restorative material., Methods: Forty extracted sound maxillary premolars with an occlusal reduction of 2 mm above the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) was performed following root canal treatment. Mesial interproximal box was prepared for each tooth at the margin of the CEJ and randomly distributed into four groups ( n = 10) as follows: Group A, no resin build-up in the pulp chamber; Group B, 2 mm of fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) build-up (EverX Posterior, GC).; Group C, no resin build-up in pulp chamber; Group D, 2 mm of FRC build-up. Groups A and B were prepared with resin nanoceramic (RNC) consisting ceramic nanofillers (Lava Ultimate 3 M ESPE), while Group C and D were prepared with RNC consisting ceramic nanohybrid fillers (Cerasmart GC Corp). All samples were subjected to 1,200,000 chewing cycles (1.6 Hz, 50 N) and 5000 thermal cycles (5°C-55°C) for artificial aging on a chewing simulator with thermal cycles (CSTC). Samples that survived the CSTC test without being damaged were subjected to a load-to-fracture test., Results: The highest mean fracture strength was found in Group D (936.0 ± 354.7) and lowest in Group A (684.2 ± 466.9). Fracture strength was higher in groups where FRC was used as a base material than plain restorations. However, there were no significant differences between the Lava and Cerasmart groups with and without FRC ( p > 0.05). Most of the samples were irreparably fractured under CEJ., Conclusion: Using short FRCs as a resin base material did not significantly improve fracture resistance. Cerasmart and Lava blocks had similar fracture resistance and fracture pattern.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy of the peripheral nervous system. Involvement of the dorsal root ganglia and the medulla spinalis in GBS is rare, especially in an axonal form. Herein, we report the case of a 53-year-old woman with classic GBS and involvement of the T8-L1 dorsal root segments. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of glass and polyethylene fibers on the color and translucency change of bulk-fill and anterior composites before and after artificial accelerated aging (AAA). Two types of teflon molds were used to fabricate samples which were 13 mm in diameter and, respectively, 2 mm and 4 mm in height. Polyethylene fiber (PF) and glass fiber (GF) were incorporated in the middle of the composite samples. Color and translucency changes of each composite were evaluated before and after AAA with spectrophotometer. ANOVA and Tukey's HSD post hoc statistical analysis were used at a significance level of 0.05. Before AAA (for anterior composites), there were no significant differences in L * and b * parameters among the three groups ( p > 0.05); there were no significant differences in L * parameter between PF and GF groups or in TP between GF and control groups ( p > 0.05) (for bulk-fill composites). After AAA, there were no significant differences in L * parameter between GF and control groups, in a * parameter between PF and control groups, in b * parameter among all groups, or in TP parameter between GF and control groups ( p > 0.05). Fiber reinforcement led to color and TP change in both anterior and bulk-fill resin composites.

Objectives: We aimed to determine how the hemodynamic parameters of the superior mesenteric artery are affected in mesenteric panniculitis., Methods: Twenty-one patients with a diagnosis of mesenteric panniculitis on computed tomography were evaluated with duplex Doppler sonography. The control group consisted 20 asymptomatic volunteers. The peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity (EDV), resistive index (RI), pulsatility index (PI), blood flow volume, and body mass index were measured in the group of patients with mesenteric panniculitis, and the findings were compared with those of the control group., Results: The mean blood flow volume and EDV were significantly higher in the patient group: The mean superior mesenteric artery blood flow volume ± SD was 917.86 ± 228.97 mL/min in the patient group versus 389.73 ± 92.72 mL/min in the control group (P < .001). The mean EDV was 31.56 ± 8.44 m/s in the patient group versus 19.27 ± 4.19 m/s in the control group (P < .001). The mean RI and PI were significantly lower in the patient group: The mean RI was 0.81 ± 0.04 in the patient group versus 0.85 ± 0.03 in the control group (P = .001). The mean PI was 2.69 ± 0.68 in the patient group versus 3.81 ± 1.13 in the control group (P = .001). the mean superior mesenteric artery diameter was 7.30 ± 0.67 mm in the patient group versus and 6.46 ± 0.66 mm in the control group (P < .001). The mean BMI was 27.95 ± 3.80 kg/m 2 in the patient group versus 23.16 ± 3.47 kg/m 2 in the control group (P < .001)., Conclusions: In patients with mesenteric panniculitis, the Doppler spectrum of the superior mesenteric artery shows detectable changes, which are characterized by decreased vascular resistance and increased blood flow., (© 2017 by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.)
