Climate change (CC) represents an increasing threat to mangroves worldwide and can amplify impacts caused by local anthropogenic activities. The direct effects of CC on mangrove forests have been extensively discussed, but indirect impacts such as the alteration of ecological processes driven by specific functional groups of the biota are poorly investigated. Ecological roles of key functional groups (FGs) in mangroves from the Atlantic–Caribbean–East Pacific (ACEP) and Indo-West Pacific (IWP) regions are reviewed, and impacts from CC mediated by these FGs are explored. Disruption by CC of ecological processes, driven by key FGs, can reinforce direct effects and amplify the loss of ecological functionality and further degradation of mangrove forests. Biogeochemistry mediator microbiotas of the soil, bioturbators, especially semiterrestrial crabs (Ocypodoids and Grapsoids) and herbivores (crustaceans and Insects), would be the most affected FG in both regions. Effects of climate change can vary regionally in the function of the combination of direct and indirect drivers, further eroding biodiversity and mangrove resilience, and impairing the predictability of ecosystem behaviour. This means that public policies to manage and conserve mangroves, as well as rehabilitation/restoration programs, should take into consideration the pressures of CC in specific regions and the response of key FGs to these pressures. The research is devoted to the study of the functional role structure of the interaction of the company's top management. The subject area of the study includes projects of digital transformation of business processes. The functional role status of IT directors for such positions as CIO, CDO, CDTO, CTO, CA was investigated. The analysis of the most frequently used models of interaction of IT directors was carried out and the optimal model was determined. The study was conducted using the Delphi expert assessment and the hierarchy analysis method. For the established optimal model related to the integration type of management, the organisational features of its application are described. Solutions are proposed to improve the quality of functional-role interaction of IT directors, which consider personal effectiveness, interaction style, ability to adopt technologies. The results of the study inform scientists about new data in the field of organisational behaviour for companies implementing digital initiatives. Practitioners can use the results of our research to adapt their organisational structure in such a way as to reduce the risks of the human factor during the implementation of the digital transformation strategy. The aim of this research that was conducted in the Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano Area Yogyakarta was to determine the diversity and functional role of Coleoptera in the area. The research was conducted by survey, with observation method, in March-April 2021. Data were collected through purposive random sampling with Sorting, Yellow Pan Trap, and Hunting methods. The results of research at six stations indicated the presence of 30 individuals belonging to four families of Arthropoda order Coleoptera, namely Lilioceris lilii (Chrysomelida), Charidotella sexpunctata (Chrysomelidae), Lytta stygica (Meloidae), Anisodactylus nigerrimus (Carabaeidae), and Harmonia axyridis (Coccinellidae). Based on their functional roles, the Carabaeidae and Coccinellidae families that dominate this finding act as predators, while the Chrysomelidae and Meloidae families act as herbivores. The results of the analysis using PAST 4.07b software show that Coleoptera diversity in the area is included in the low diversity index category with a value of 0.773, a low species richness index with a value of 0.6213, and an evenly distributed abundance index with a value close to 1. Data dikumpulkan melalui purposive random sampling dengan kombinasi metode Sorting, Yellow Pan Trap, dan Hunting. Berdasar peran fungsionalnya, famili Carabaeidae dan Coccinellidae yang mendominasi temuan ini berperan sebagai predator, sedangkan famili Chrysomelidae dan Meloidae berperan sebagai herbivor. Hasil analisis menggunakan software PAST 4.07b menunjukkan bahwa keanekaragaman Coleoptera di kawasan tersebut termasuk ke dalam kategori indeks keanekaragaman rendah dengan nilai 0,773, indeks kekayaan jenis rendah dengan nilai 0,6213, dan indeks kelimpahan yang merata dengan nilai mendekati 1.

Background. The Austrian Reading Room Organized, which was founded on the basis of MSTU named after G.I. Nosov more than 10 years ago, has become a platform for the implementation of educational, career guidance, cultural and scientific projects, providing university students with the opportunity to read both classical and modern Austrian literature. However, when reading, students often experience difficulties as texts normally contain typical Austrian lexemes and expressions due to the pluricentric nature of the German language. In this regard, there is a need for a linguistic analysis of the territorial functioning of the German language in Austria from the standpoint of an adequate understanding and interpretation of a literary text, which explains the relevance of addressing this topic. Purpose. To identify and typologize austricisms that express gastronomic names being relevant for understanding and interpreting a literary text, as well as to analyze their functional load in the space of a literary text. Materials and methods. The main research methods are the analysis of scientific literature by Russian and foreign scientists on the problem of the pluricentricity German language, continuous sampling, functional analysis of text fragments, and contextual analysis. Research results. During the study, texts of classical and modern Austrian literature were analyzed, gastronomic austricisms were identified and typologized, and their functional load in a literary text was described. Practical implications. The results obtained can be used when reading Austrian fiction for a deeper interpretation, as well as when teaching students German as a foreign language.

Significance: Ample evidence has demonstrated an important role for autophagy as either a protective mechanism or a cause for hepatotoxicity, denoting the likely potentials for targeting autophagy in the prevention or treatment of hepatotoxicity. Recent Advances: The functional role of autophagy in the pathogenesis of hepatotoxicity has been gradually recognized. Mechanistically, the autophagy-mediated protective or promoting effect on hepatotoxicity is attributed to its functions in regulation of oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, lipid metabolism, iron homeostasis, inflammatory response, and programmed cell death. Targeting autophagy as a novel strategy for fighting against hepatotoxicity has demonstrated encouraging efficacy in a number of models. Critical Issues: Clarifying the precise functional role of autophagy in different types of hepatotoxicity is essential for developing a type-specific autophagy-based intervention. Identification of molecular targets and novel agents for effectively and accurately manipulating autophagy is needed for better utilization of an autophagy-based approach to exert beneficial effects on hepatotoxicity. Future Directions: Well-designed clinical trials are needed to validate the efficacy of an autophagy-targeting intervention strategy for hepatotoxicity. Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 1 (EIF4G1) is highly expressed in many cancers and affects their occurrence and development. However, the effect of EIF4G1 on the prognosis, biological function and the relevant mechanism in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is unclear. Through clinical cases, Cox's proportional hazard model and Kaplan–Meier plotter survival analysis, we find the expression levels of EIF4G1 are dependent on age and clinical stage, high expression of EIF4G1 could be used to predict the overall survival of LSCC patients. LSCC cell line NCI-H1703, NCI-H226 and SK-MES-1infected with EIF4G1 siRNA are used to detect the function of EIF4G1 with cell proliferation and tumorigenesis in vivo and vitro. The data show that EIF4G1 promotes tumor cell proliferation and the G1/S transition of cell cycle in LSCC, then the biological function of LSCC is effected by the AKT/mTOR pathway. Above all, these results have demonstrated that EIF4G1 promotes LSCC cell proliferation and may represent an indicator of prognosis in LSCC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the Arctic ecosystems, fungi are crucial for interactions between soil and plants, the cycling of nutrients, and the transport of carbon. To date, no studies have been conducted to thoroughly examine the mycobiome and its functional role in various habitats of the High Arctic region. The aim was to unravel the mycobiome in the nine habitats (i.e., soil, lichen, vascular plant, moss, freshwater, seawater, marine sediment, dung, and marine alga) in the Ny-Ålesund Region (Svalbard, High Arctic) using a high-throughput sequencing approach. A total of 10,419 ASVs were detected. Among them, 7535 ASVs were assigned to unidentified phyla, while the remaining 2884 ASVs were assigned to 11 phyla, 33 classes, 81 orders, 151 families, 278 genera, and 261 species that were known. The distribution of the mycobiome was driven by habitat specificity, indicating that habitat filtering is a crucial factor influencing the fungal assemblages at a local scale in this High Arctic region. Six growth forms and 19 fungal guilds were found. The ecological guild (e.g., lichenized, ectomycorrhizal) and growth form (e.g., yeast, thallus photosynthetic) varied significantly among various habitats. In addition, the occurrence of 31 fungal species that are considered to be potential pathogens was determined. These results will increase our understanding of fungal diversity and its functional significance in this distinctive High Arctic area and thereby establish the groundwork for prediction about how the mycobiome will alter in various environments as a result of anticipated climate change. Retinoblastoma (RB), the most common malignant retinal tumor among children under 3 years old, is lethal if left untreated. Early diagnosis, together with timely and effective treatment, is important to improve retinoblastoma-related outcomes. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a new class of non-coding RNAs with the capacity to regulate cellular activities, have great potential in retinoblastoma diagnosis and treatment. Recent studies have identified circular RNAs that regulate multiple cellular processes involved in retinoblastoma, including cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, migration, and invasion. Six circular RNAs (circ-FAM158A, circ-DHDDS, circ-E2F3, circ-TRHDE, circ-E2F5, and circ-RNF20) promote disease progression and metastasis in retinoblastoma and function as oncogenic factors. Other circular RNAs, such as circ-TET1, circ-SHPRH, circ-MKLN1, and circ-CUL2, play tumor suppressive roles in retinoblastoma. At present, the studies on the regulatory mechanism of circular RNAs in retinoblastoma are not very clear. The purpose of this review is to summarize recent studies on the functional roles and molecular mechanisms of circular RNAs in retinoblastoma and highlight novel strategies for retinoblastoma diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) represent an important group of endogenous RNAs with limit protein-encoding capability, with a length of more than 200 nucleotides. Emerging evidence have demonstrated that lncRNAs are greatly involved in multiple cancers by playing critical roles in tumor initiation and progression. Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 460 (LINC00460), a novel cancer-related lncRNA, exhibits abnormal expression and oncogenic function in multiple cancers, and positively correlates with poor clinical characteristics of cancer patients. LINC00460 has also been shown to be a promising biomarker for diagnosis as well as prognostic evaluation in cancer patients. In this review, we briefly summarized recent knowledge on the expression, functional roles, molecular mechanisms, and diagnostic and prognostic values of LINC00460 in human malignancies.

Studies at local spatial scales have shown that the generalist honeybee Apis mellifera L. can strongly affect the structural organization and properties of pollination networks. However, there is still little knowledge on how the connectivity of the honeybee within networks (i.e., interactive role) could affect pollination networks at a global scale. To fill this gap, we evaluated how the interactive role of A. mellifera could affect niche overlap, specialization, and robustness of pollination networks. We used 109 weighted pollination networks spread across about 94 degrees of latitude and 227 degrees of longitude. We developed a new standardized framework based on species removal to assess the impact of the honeybee on plant-pollinator networks. We found that when the honeybee was removed from the networks, plant species had less niche overlap (i.e., shared fewer interactions via their pollinators) and the networks became more specialized and more robust to species extinctions. Our findings indicate that A. mellifera's effects on pollination networks vary geographically and could influence several ecological and evolutionary factors acting at local scales, including pollination services. ABSTRACT The relative functional importance of rare and abundant species in driving relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions (BEF) remains unknown. Here, we investigated the functional roles of rare and abundant species diversity (multitrophic soil organism groups) on multifunctionality derived from 16 ecosystem functions in 228 agricultural fields relating to soil and crop health. The results revealed that the diversity of rare species, rather than of abundant species, was positively related to multifunctionality. Abundant taxa tended to maintain a larger number of functions than rare taxa, while rare subcommunity contributed more phylotypes supporting to the single ecosystem functions. Community assembly processes were closely related to the ecosystem functional performance of soil biodiversity, only observed in rare subcommunity. Higher relative contributions of stochastic assembly processes promoted the positive effects of diversity of rare taxa on multifunctionality, while reducing their diversity and multifunctionality overall. Our results highlight the importance of rare species for ecosystem multifunctionality and elucidate the linkage between ecological assembly processes and BEF relationships. Here, we highlighted the importance of rare species for ecosystem multifunctionality. Pineapple peel (PP) is a by-product with the potential to be used as a raw material for functional beverages. Traditional PP fermentation has so far paid little attention to the microbial community and its role in the fermentation process. As a result, the current research looked into the microbial communities and their roles during PP fermentation. A metagenomic approach based on the 16S rRNA sequencing data was used to assess the microbial communities. Subsequent analysis was performed using PICRUSt (phylogenetic investigation of communities by reconstruction of unobserved states) to analyze the microbial functions in the fermentation system. The microecology of the fermentation process in three samples was predominated by Firmicutes. Furthermore, the well-known probiotic genera Weissella, Lactobacillus, and Lactococcus were found to be predominating in the gumer, promic, and control samples, respectively. It was obvious that microenvironmental differences have an effect on the microbial composition of PP fermentation. Moreover, functional prediction revealed that carbohydrate metabolism was the most prevalent metabolic pathway during the fermentation process. Additionally, it was discovered that all of the bacteria found in the samples played significant roles in carbohydrate, amino acid, vitamin, and co-factor metabolism, which can be inferred to result in the production of beneficial metabolites. Typically, termites are treated as a single guild, which ignores important internal diversity, including diverse feeding and nesting traits. These termite traits are crucial for both ecosystem‐level fluxes and trophic webs, with implications for vertebrate species. Despite their ecological importance, the large‐scale distribution of termite feeding and nesting traits and the relationship with termite diversity is largely unknown. We investigated whether functional diversity, species richness and feeding (wood, litter, grass and dung) and nesting trait (aboveground mound, belowground nest, inside tree or outside tree nest) distributions of termites were climatically controlled. To address this gap, we assembled a continental‐scale database of termite traits and occurrence in Australia and modelled termite nesting and feeding traits in response to macroclimate. Functional richness and evenness increased primarily with temperature. Australia showed multiple hotspots of termite diversity with each hotspot showing a distinct guild composition. The large‐scale distribution of nesting traits showed that aboveground nesting species were the most common nesting guild in the dry and wet tropics, while belowground nesting dominated in seasonally cold arid environments, demonstrating a strong climatic control on nesting strategy. Given their large biomass and many interactions with other species, the macroecology of termite traits may be especially important in predicting shifts in other species' distributions at continental and global scales. Many existing video surveillance solutions are based on sending information between camera and remote server. In this paper, we study video services that are being built in an edge-centric Internet of Things (IoT) environment. Multiple cameras are available. Each video stream is subject to create simple events. Complex events can also be created based on the combination of simple events and context from IoT environment, forming the semantics for video analytics. We introduce microservice-based on step-by-step technology to show how software can be designed and developed for various application areas using multiple cameras. We extend video services that were discussed in our previous works using the developed technology. Proposal smart video services allow to organize smart video monitoring in the following areas: Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), medicine mHelath services, SmartRoom.

For Australia's Great Barrier Reef (GBR), we found that the recovery ability of shallow exposed fore‐reefs is more than 14 times higher when tabular Acropora are present. The disproportionate role that tabular Acropora play appears to be driven by a combination of traits including high recruitment, high growth rate and, importantly, large maximum colony sizes. Despite this key role, tabular Acropora are highly sensitive to most pressures. We compile evidence suggesting that if tabular corals were to decline or disappear on the GBR, the potential for reef recovery on exposed fore‐reefs would be considerably slowed. We then consider the merits of placing special emphasis on the protection of tabular Acropora within the management of the GBR. Importantly, we recognise that an analysis of costs and benefits of such recognition is vital before any change is implemented. Actions might include targeted crown‐of‐thorns starfish control, anchoring restrictions and protection for tabular corals on reefs identified as essential for their larval dispersal. Beta oscillations have been predominantly observed in sensorimotor cortices and basal ganglia structures and they are thought to be involved in somatosensory processing and motor control. Although beta activity is a distinct feature of healthy and pathological sensorimotor processing, the role of this rhythm is still under debate. Here we review recent findings about the role of beta oscillations during experimental manipulations (i.e., drugs and brain stimulation) and their alteration in aging and pathology. We show how beta changes when learning new motor skills and its potential to integrate sensory input with prior contextual knowledge. We conclude by discussing a novel methodological approach analyzing beta oscillations as a series of transient bursting events.

Invasive species can significantly affect native species when their niches are similar. Ecological and morphological similarities between the invasive Australian palm, Archontophoenix cunninghamiana, and the native palm from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, Euterpe edulis, suggest that they have similar environmental requirements and functional roles (i.e., the function a species performs in an ecosystem). This similarity raises concerns about how the invasive palm could impact the native species in the present and future. We used spatial (species occurrences) and ecological information (frugivory events) to characterize the environmental niche and functional role of the two palms and assess their overlap. In addition, we predicted the potential area of occurrence of each palm within the Brazilian Atlantic Forest under current and future climate conditions.We estimated the environmental conditions used by the invasive plant based on its native distribution only, and based on all areas where the species is able to establish across the globe. We found that the environmental niches of the two palm species overlap up to 39%, which corresponds to 50% of the current geographic distribution of E. edulis in the Atlantic Forest. In the areas where the two species potentially co-occur, the impact of the invasive species on the native should be influenced by the invasive species interactions with frugivores. We found that the frugivory functional role of the two palms was similar (84% overlap) which suggest that A. cunninghamiana might disrupt the seed dispersal of the native palm. However, co-occurrence between the palms may decline with future climate change, as the potentially environmental suitable area for the invasive palm is predicted to decline by 10% to 55%. Evaluating the similarity in both the environmental niche, of the native and global extent, and the functional role of native and invasive plants provides a detailed understanding of the potential impact of invasive species on native species now and in the future. Pineapple peel (PP) is a by-product with the potential to be used as a raw material for functional beverages. Traditional PP fermentation has so far paid little attention to the microbial community and its role in the fermentation process. As a result, the current research looked into the microbial communities and their roles during PP fermentation. A metagenomic approach based on the 16S rRNA sequencing data was used to assess the microbial communities. Subsequent analysis was performed using PICRUSt (phylogenetic investigation of communities by reconstruction of unobserved states) to analyze the microbial functions in the fermentation system. The microecology of the fermentation process in three samples was predominated by Firmicutes. Furthermore, the well-known probiotic genera Weissella, Lactobacillus, and Lactococcus were found to be predominating in the gumer, promic, and control samples, respectively. It was obvious that microenvironmental differences have an effect on the microbial composition of PP fermentation. Moreover, functional prediction revealed that carbohydrate metabolism was the most prevalent metabolic pathway during the fermentation process. Additionally, it was discovered that all of the bacteria found in the samples played significant roles in carbohydrate, amino acid, vitamin, and co-factor metabolism, which can be inferred to result in the production of beneficial metabolites.

Nephtheidae soft corals are a common component of benthic ecosystems in the Northwest (NW) Atlantic and in the Arctic, but little is known about their functional roles. Here we investigated their role as habitat for basket stars (Ophiuroidea). By examining over 4500 soft coral colonies of Drifa glomerata, Duva florida, Gersemia spp., and Pseudodrifa racemosa collected during trawl surveys in the regions of Newfoundland, Labrador and West Baffin Bay, we show that Nephtheidae soft corals are habitat for juvenile Gorgonocephalus sp. basket stars. Juvenile Gorgonocephalus sp. were found on all soft corals species, but Drifa glomerata was the soft coral species with the highest occurrence of associated juvenile basket stars (32%), with a maximum of 111 basket stars found on a single 4.8 cm tall (contracted state) colony. Individual basket star disc diameter did not change with colony height, but it varied with season for individuals found on D. glomerata. On the other hand, colony height was positively related with maximum disc diameter (D. glomerata), and presence and number of basket stars on a colony (D. glomerata and D. florida). One very young ophiuroid was found within one polyp of a D. florida colony collected in July. We also examined bottom trawl survey data from 2011 to 2017 from Newfoundland to Baffin Bay, and other locations in the Eastern Canadian Arctic and found that for our largest database, 45% of trawl sets that contained basket stars also contained corals, of which 67% were Nephtheidae soft corals. In this study we show that all four Nephtheidae soft coral taxa studied act as habitat for juvenile basket stars, which are conspicuous components of benthic communities in cold-water environments. Soft corals are commonly exposed and vulnerable to bottom fishing gear in the North Atlantic. We urge future studies evaluating the nature of this relationship, the potential role of soft corals as nurseries, and the potential degree of dependency/preference between basket stars and soft corals in relation to other organisms.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a group of RNAs that lack protein-coding ability, with lengths greater than 200 nucleotides. Increasing evidence has indicated that they mediate multiple physiological and pathological processes by regulating gene expression at the epigenetic, transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and translational levels. The deregulation of lncRNAs was demonstrated to have tumor suppressive or oncogenic effects, and thus, these molecules play vital regulatory roles in tumor initiation and progression. Small nucleolar RNA hostgene 7 (SNHG7) is a lncRNA located on chromosome 9q34.3. Different studies have explored the potential role of SNHG7 in the development and progression of multiple human malignancies such as bladder, breast, colorectal, esophageal, gastric, and prostate cancer, as well as osteosarcoma, among others, and high expression predicts poor prognosis and poor survival for such patients. Moreover, this molecule can promote proliferation and metastasis, while inhibiting apoptosis in cancer cells. The present review highlights the latest insights into the expression, functional roles, and molecular mechanisms of SNHG7 in different human malignancies.

Scientific insights into what it means to manage on‐farm trees by local farmers, is an essential step towards documenting local ecological knowledge for sustainable landscape management. A study was therefore conducted in the Kumawu Forest District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to assess how farmers conceptualise on‐farm tree management and develop local knowledge for it. Using a case study approach, data were collected through informal interviews and focus group discussions with 120 farmers drawn from 15 communities who were involved in the management of three cropping systems; cocoa, maize and cassava‐cocoyam‐plantain mix. It was observed that the farmers regard on‐farm tree management as a continuous process which occurs in three phases of the farming cycle; land preparation, crop cultivation and fallow management. For each of the three phases, farmers are guided by specific principles that ensure enough light penetration in‐between tree crowns in the land preparation phase, suitable spacing between trees and crops in the crop cultivation phase and adequate tree regeneration in the fallow phase. The decisions made during the selection of tree species, spacing of trees adjudged suitable for any particular cropping system and recruitment of saplings prior to the fallow phase of farming constitute tree management. Farmers develop tree management knowledge by studying the physical characteristics of species, matching them to ecological functions they could perform and how they are likely to respond to treatments meant to control or enhance their development. Ongoing climate change is shifting the geographic distributions of some species, potentially imposing rapid changes in local community structure and ecosystem functioning. Besides changes in population‐level interspecific interactions, such range shifts may also cause changes in functional structure within the host assemblages, which can result in losses or gains in ecosystem functions. Because consumer‐resource dynamics are central to community regulation, functional reorganization driven by introduction of new consumer species can have large consequences on ecosystem functions. Here we experimentally examine the extent to which the recent poleward range expansion of the intertidal grazer limpet Scurria viridula along the coast of Chile has altered the role of the resident congeneric limpet S. zebrina, and whether the net collective impacts, and functional structure, of the entire herbivore guild have been modified by the introduction of this new member. We examined the functional role of Scurria species in controlling ephemeral algal cover, bare rock availability, and species richness and diversity, and compared the effects in the region of range overlap against their respective "native" abutted ranges. Experiments showed depression of per capita effects of the range‐expanded species within the region of overlap, suggesting environmental conditions negatively affect individual performance. In contrast, effects of S. zebrina were commonly invariant at its range edge. When comparing single species versus polycultures, effects on bare rock cover were altered by the presence of the other Scurria species, suggesting competition between Scurria species. Importantly, although the magnitude of S. viridula effects at the range overlap was reduced, its addition to the herbivore guild seems to complement and intensify the role of the guild in reducing green algal cover, species richness and increasing bare space provision. Our study thus highlights that range expansion of an herbivore can modify the functional guild structure in the recipient community. It also highlights the complexity of predicting how functional structure may change in the face of natural or human‐induced range expansions. There is a need for more field‐based examination of regional functional compensation, complementarity, or inhibition before we can construct a conceptual framework to anticipate the consequences of species range expansions. Cisplatin treatment results in acute kidney injury (AKI) by the phosphorylation of mixed lineage kinase domain‐like protein (MLKL). The knockout of MLKL, which is a principle mediator of necroptosis, is believed to alleviate the AKI symptoms. The present study was aimed to improve the therapeutic efficacy in AKI. For this purpose, miR‐500a‐3P was identified as appropriate miRNA therapeutics and loaded in liposome delivery carrier. The authors have showed that the miR‐LIP directly controls the expression of RIPK3 and MLKL – a modulator of necroptosis and thereby reduces the severity of kidney injury. The miR‐LIP significantly controlled the phosphorylation of MLKL compared to that of CDDP‐treated HK2 cells. Similar results are observed with RIPK3. The miR‐LIP has also been demonstrated to control the inflammatory response in tubular cells. Western blot analysis further revealed that the phosphorylation of P‐65 was mainly responsible for the inflammatory response and miR‐LIP significantly decreased the CDDP‐induced NF‐kB phosphorylation. Overall, the present study explored the molecular mechanism behind the necroptosis in AKI and potential of miRNA in targeting MLKL pathways. The mind-body problem is one of the central problems of philosophy. "Functionalism" has Neutral view on the nature of the material or nonmaterial mind and view the mind as the function. From the point of this group, mental states are functional properties that via inputs, outputs, internal processes and other mental states play functional roles. On the other hand, Islamic philosophy and theology have been paid to the relation between soul and body. From Avicenna, the soul is "nonmaterial substance" and most theologians, consider the soul as "material substance". But Mulla Sadra, deny the soul as mere nonmaterial (the theory of Avicenna) or mere material thing (The theory of theologians); but believes that the soul at first is material, so from the process of substantial movement, becomes nonmaterial. The main question is whether there can be a dialogue between Mulla Sadra and functionalism? Our answer is yes. Mulla Sadra such as the supporters of functionalism seek out exit from substance dualism (Descartes and Avicennan). As proponents of functionalism pay net to essence of mind, and know mind as functional role that realizes in material as well as nonmaterial beings, so Mulla Sadra doesn’t considers soul as mere material or mere nonmaterial thing. Soul, whether in material order or nonmaterial order, is actuality and with substantial movement become actuality and these actualities have relation with themselves and soul is set of them. The sum of these actualities called as perfection. Thus, functionalism, knows mind as "function", but Mull Sadra considers it as 'perfection'. However, there are differences between Mulla Sadra psychology and functionalism that had been reviewed in this paper.

The review summarizes modern concepts concerning functionalrole and neurotransmitter organization of the cerebellum.The results of recent studies demonstrated that the cerebellummight be involved not only in motor control, but also in regulationof cognitive functions, affective and behaviour reactions,development of emotional-personality and mental disturbances,as well as in modulation of cerebral blood flow andmetabolism. Futher studies of the functional role of differentcerebellar neurotransmitter systems and their mechanisms ofinteraction are very important for understanding the pathogenesisand for the development of approaches to the treatment andprevention of the cerebellum-related motor and non-motor disorders.

The cell is a key concept, and accurate knowledge of it is essential for understanding many phenomena and biological processes, as well as the overall functioning of living beings. However, learning about this concept is not simple. Regarding this concept, we examined the views concerning problems that could be encountered by Master's students training to become future teachers of natural science, compared to the difficulties suffered by a group of students in their last two years of high school. The results show the students' learning about the cell appeared to be negatively influenced by the methodology used in classroom, being this type of difficulties the most reported by the high-school students, followed by difficulties with matters associated with the functional role of the cell. However, the methodology limitations have been the least considered by future teachers. By contrast, they consider the structural aspects of the cell as more likely to be problematic for students, followed by the functional ones. Problems concerning sizes and scales arose similarly in both cases, implying a widespread problem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Five new variants of 17β-HSD14 characterized by crystallography and enzyme kinetics. • Tyr253′ from the adjacent monomer ties the two monomers together. • Disulfide bridge formed by Cys255 and Cys255′ is not crucial for dimer stabilization. • Gln148 restricts in size the access tunnel of the substrate. 17β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 14 (17β-HSD14) catalyzes the conversion of highly active estrogens and androgens into their less active oxidized forms in presence of NAD+ as cofactor. The crystal structure of 17β-HSD14 has been determined, however, the role of individual amino acids likely involved in the enzymatic function remains poorly understood. Objective of this study was to further characterize the enzyme by site-directed mutagenesis considering five amino acids next to the catalytic center. The tools used for the characterization of the enzyme variants are X-ray crystallography and enzyme kinetics. Lys158 was confirmed to belong to the catalytic triad. Tyr253′, located on the C -terminal loop of the adjacent monomer, enters into the active site of the neighboring monomer and interacts with the catalytic Tyr154. Therefore, Tyr253′ helps to tie the two monomers together. Cys255, located at the interface between both monomers, can form a disulfide bridge with the Cys255′ from the adjacent monomer. In contrast to the contact provided by Tyr253, the latter interaction is not crucial for dimer formation. His93 and Gln148 are located at the rim of the substrate binding pocket. His93 does not interact directly with the ligand in the active site. However, it influences the turnover of the enzyme. Ecological effects of alien species can be dramatic, but management and prevention of negative impacts are often hindered by crypticity of the species or their ecological functions. Ecological functions can change dramatically over time, or manifest after long periods of an innocuous presence. Such cryptic processes may lead to an underestimation of long-term impacts and constrain management effectiveness. Here, we present a conceptual framework of crypticity in biological invasions. We identify the underlying mechanisms, provide evidence of their importance, and illustrate this phenomenon with case studies. This framework has potential to improve the recognition of the full risks and impacts of invasive species. Highlights Crypticity of biological invasions may blur invasion impacts and reduce their predictability. The impacts are often only detected in retrospect, and understood with delay, long after control measures would have been effective. Crypticity of biological invasions can be driven by inherent crypticity of alien species and their ecological functions and by time lags, spatio-temporal variability, and anthropogenic impacts.
