Group M was instructed to apply heparinoid moisturizer during 3 weeks of hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation with or without boost until 4 weeks after completion of irradiation. Skin-related QOL was assessed using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) for 7 weeks. The primary endpoint was total DLQI score at 4 weeks after the start date.Results: In total, 35 patients in Group M and 37 patients in Group C were analyzed. The DLQI total score (2.06 ± 2.17: mean ± SD) at 4 weeks in Group M was slightly lower than in Group C (2.16 ± 2.13) but with no significant difference (p = 0.894). The “Symptoms and feelings” subscore indicated significant worsening at 3 weeks and maintained until 7 weeks in Group C. There was no significant change for this subscore during radiotherapy in Group M, and it significantly increased after radiotherapy (4– 5 weeks) and returned to baseline in 7 weeks. The period of subscore worsening was shorter in Group M than in Group C.Conclusion: Concomitant and extended use of heparinoid moisturizer with radiation therapy may improve the QOL of breast cancer patients impaired by dry skin for patients with breast cancer.Keywords: breast cancer, radiation dermatitis, asteatosis, heparinoid moisturizer, skin-related quality of life

7. Fungus gnat pollination in Arisaema urashima: the interplay of lethal traps and mutualistic nurseries.

Abstract

While most flowering plants engage in mutualistic interactions with their pollinators, Arisaema species employ a unique, seemingly antagonistic strategy by imprisoning and causing the pollinators to perish within their spathes. Recent studies have revealed that Arisaema thunbergii primarily relies on a fungus gnat, Leia ishitanii, with some individuals possibly escaping female spathes after oviposition.We investigated interactions between A. urashima and its pollinating fungus gnats, given that A. urashima is closely related to A. thunbergii. Specifically, we tested whether decaying A. urashima serve as brood‐sites for some pollinators and whether these pollinators can escape seemingly lethal floral traps. We retrieved A. urashima spathes together with adult insect corpses trapped within the spathes and incubated the spathes to see if conspecific insects emerged. In addition, under laboratory conditions, we observed the escape behaviour of Sciophila yokoyamai, whose next‐generation adults most frequently emerge from the decaying spathes.Our findings indicate that S. yokoyamai almost always escapes from the female spathe after oviposition while using the inflorescence as a nursery. In contrast, other pollinators of A. urashima, including Mycetophila spp., remain trapped and perished within the spathes.This study demonstrates that A. urashima spathes can function both as lethal traps and mutualistic nurseries, with outcomes differing among pollinator species. Our results also suggest that the contribution of certain pollinators to Arisaema reproduction is underestimated or even neglected, given that information on their pollinator assemblages has been based on floral visitors trapped within the inflorescences. Abstract

We have investigated the $R$-site randomness effect of $R$/Ba-ordered $R$BaMn$_{2}$O$_{6}$ ($R$ = rare earth) by using Y$_{1-y}$La$_y$BaMn$_2$O$_6$ (0 (\leq) $y$ (\leq) 1) in which $R$ (Y,La) and Ba are regularly arranged while Y and La randomly occupy the $R$-site. YBaMn$_2$O$_6$ ($y$ = 0) undergoes charge/orbital ordering (CO) transition at $T_{\rm CO}$ = 500 K while LaBaMn$_{2}$O$_{6}$ ($y$ = 1) shows ferromagnetic metallic (FM) behavior below 350 K\@. In 0 (\leq) $y$ (\leq) 0.6, $T_{\rm CO}$ decreases with an increase in $y$. In 0.6 (\leq) $y$ (\leq) 0.8, $R$-site randomness causes strong phase separation tendencies among the FM, antiferromagnetic (AFM), and CO insulating (COI) states. We have investigated the Cr-doping effect of Nd0.375Sr0.625MnO3 near the phase boundary between the x2-y2 and 3z2-r2 orbital ordered states, where a ferromagnetic correlation and concomitant large magnetoresistance are observed owing to orbital fluctuation. Cr-doping steeply suppresses the ferromagnetic correlation and magnetoresistance in Nd0.375Sr0.625Mn1-yCryO3 with 0 < y < 0.05, while they reappear in 0.05 < y < 0.10. Abstract

We have succeeded in preparing A-site ordered- and disordered-Y1/4Sr3/4CoO3-d with various oxygen deficiencies delta, and have made comparative study of their structural and physical properties. In the A-site ordered structure, oxygen vacancies order, and d = 0.34 sample shows a weak ferromagnetic transition beyond 300 K. On the other hand, in the A-site disordered structure, no oxygen vacancy ordering is observed, and d = 0.16 sample shows a ferromagnetic metallic transition around 150 K.
