- Abstract
This study explores the potential of blockchain technology in catalyzing a transition towards a circular consumption culture within the fashion and lifestyle industry. The increasing demand for technological advancements has heightened the relevance of blockchain integration. The research examines diverse case studies, showcasing how blockchain augments slow fashion principles and addresses sustainability aspects. Blockchain offers transparency, documentation, and enhanced storytelling, creating a trust-building nexus between producers and consumers. Additionally, it facilitates systematic repair solutions, authenticity validation, and emotional connections. Metaverse dynamics reshape consumer engagement, bridging the gap between virtual and real experiences. Furthermore, the discussion delves into attributes of durability in clothing, encompassing infrastructure, emotional bonds, and political economy. The study demonstrates how blockchain can reinforce these attributes, driving the fashion industry towards circular economy practices. Through cases such as Wehlers, OverpricedTM, Green Cotton, and RSVP, this work illustrates diverse approaches to leveraging blockchain's potential in sustainable progress within fashion, furniture, and accessories sectors. Ultimately, this study offers an in-depth exploration of how blockchain technology can steer the fashion and lifestyle industry towards circular consumption practices. It aims to inspire businesses, consumers, and policymakers to embrace technological and business innovations that prioritize planetary health and future generations' well-being. By considering technological adoption, emotional connections, and responsible consumption, we can shape a conscious consumer era that values both the planet's health and the prosperity of generations to come.
