The impact of trait perfectionism on coping and affective response has been well-documented in laboratory performances, and yet little is known about the role played by perfectionistic self-presentation in performances beyond the effects of trait perfectionism. We aimed to address this knowledge gap by examining the relationships between perfectionistic self-presentation, maladaptive emotion-focused coping, and affective response to laboratory problem-solving tasks. A group of 130 undergraduates attempted challenging, time-limited arithmetic and anagram tasks. Upon task completion, participants' scores were announced along with their mistakes. Additionally, participants completed measures assessing their positive and negative affect before and after lab performance, as well as coping strategies utilized during performance. Participants with elevated perfectionistic self-presentation experienced greater levels of negative affect and maladaptive emotion-focused coping. Moreover, nondisclosure of imperfection emerged as a significant predictor of lowered positive affect from pre- to post-performance after controlling for self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism. Path analysis indicated that both nondisplay of imperfection and nondisclosure of imperfection exerted an indirect effect on post-performance negative affect via maladaptive emotion-focused coping. Our findings highlight the unique contribution of perfectionistic self-presentation beyond trait perfectionism in performance settings and suggest a need for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three experiments conducted to identify the role of global or local processes in visual completion of partly occluded objects, using an objective, implicit paradigm instead of subjective drawing tasks, revealed that global processes govern visual completion while local processes have only a marginal effect on it. This refutes theories of completion that stress local processes. However, local processes may assume greater importance in different conditions.

A study entailing the interviews of male divorcees during the first post-divorce month, six months later, and one year later was undertaken. The three phases were characterized in chronological order by financial worry, loneliness, and diminished negative reaction to the divorce compared to the first phase. The identified anxiety zones were loneliness, previous spouse contacts, interpersonal relationships, and self-doubts about stability and efficiency.

This paper is the result of two round robin activities run by the Technical Committee TC12, Pharma Packaging, of the International Commission on Glass (ICG). It deals with the phenomenon of delamination, that is, the formation of lamellae or flakes in drug products due to specific and localized corrosion of glass vials, and it follows a first paper PDA J Pharm Sci Technol. 2018, 72, 553–565where a testing protocol for the evaluation of the delamination propensity was proposed. The results showed that the protocol gives information on the quality of vials with respect to the propensity to corrosion, but no direct correlation with delamination could be demonstrated, as no lamellae formation was observed. In response, further testing was carried out on five sets of vials with expected low delamination propensity, compared to a set of vials with high expected delamination propensity using both the proposed protocol and a more aggressive protocol. The objective was to observe lamellae at least in the high propensity vials to show a correlation to initial test protocols. The results show that there is a very good consistency between the results of the two testing protocols and therefore, with a good level of reliability, the degree of glass surface corrosion can be estimated by the testing protocol proposed by the Technical Committee. In some cases, the glass surface corrosion results may indicate an increased risk of delamination (depending on the individual interaction between the pharmaceutical solution and the inner vial surface).
