Accountancy software packages are reviewed. They include Glow for Windows Version 3.64 from Exact Software, Sage Instant v6 from Sage (UK) and Navision Attain Version 3.0 from Navision Software.

The three, named as 'Editor's Choice' winners, are the following: FinancePlus Software's $5,000 FinancePlus 3.2, in the category of Mid-Range Enterprise Accounting Software; MYOB's $1,095 MYOB Premier Accounting 5.0, in the category of Small Business Accounting Software; and Intuit's $165 Quicken Cashbook 8.2, in the category of Entry Level Accounting Software.

The acquisition of two software developers and the transition of the tax software industry to Windows require software users to adjust accordingly. A survey of 28 software companies found that 17 are already marketing a Windows version of their products while 10 intend to introduce a Windows product by 2001.
