Objective: Mobile devices are sources of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that cause increasing concern among scientists about human health, especially with the long-term use of mobile phones.With regard to this issue, the potential adverse health effects, particularly on brain function have raised public concern. There is considerable evidence that natural compounds have neuro-protective effects due to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Growing evidence suggests that crocin as a natural bioactive compound can be considered a potential therapeutic agent against various neurologic disorders. Therefore, the present study investigated the effects of crocin on the cerebellum after exposure to EMF. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four Male Balb/c mice were divided into control group, EMF group (2100 MHZ), EMF +Crocin group (2100 MHZ+50 mg/kg), and crocin group (50 mg/kg). The animals in the EMF and EMF+Crocin groups were exposed continuously for 30 days to an EMF 120 min/day. After 30 days, cerebellar cortex was evaluated by histomorphometric and immunohistochemical methods.Results: The results showed that 30 days of exposure to EMF had no significant effect on Purkinje cell size. This study aimed to identify the quality of web pages retrieved by Parsijoo and Parseek Persian search engines and Google to respond to students' course-related queries. This study was conducted using evaluations from a researcher-made checklist. The first population included Persian and Google search engines selected from Persian, Parsijoo, and Parseek search engines. The second population included the keywords of the section for collecting data from the fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade elementary school science textbooks, from which 12 keywords were selected by simple random sampling. The third population included web pages retrieved for each keyword by search engines. From the first ten results retrieved in each keyword search, relevant pages were selected as the sample. The results revealed that the quality of the web pages retrieved by all three search engines, i.e., Parsijoo, Parseek, and Google, was above average. However, there was a significant difference between the engines regarding the number of relevant results. This is the first study investigating the quality of web pages retrieved by search engines to respond to students' course-related queries. The study results can help the designers and developers of Persian search engines improve their performance in retrieving high-quality pages and gaining a proper place among Iranian users.

Objective: The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between organizational spirituality, organizational commitment, and organizational ethics among male elementary school managers in Qom city in 2022. Methods: This study is applied in terms of its objective and correlational in terms of the method used. The statistical population of the research includes all male managers at the elementary level in Qom city, totaling 360 individuals. Using multi-stage sampling, a sample of 81 individuals was selected. They were evaluated using Milliman et al.'s (2003) Organizational Spirituality Questionnaire, Allen and Meyer's Organizational Commitment Questionnaire, and Hunt et al.'s Organizational Ethics Questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods (multiple regression) were employed for data analysis. Results: The results indicate a significant positive relationship between organizational spirituality, organizational commitment, and organizational ethics among the managers. Moreover, each dimension of organizational spirituality has a positive and significant relationship with organizational commitment and organizational ethics. Conclusions: Confirming the relationship between organizational spirituality, organizational commitment, and organizational ethics suggests that managers' attitudes towards spirituality can help improve employees' commitment and ethical conduct, consequently leading to overall organizational performance enhancement. Therefore, serious attention should be paid to the concept of organizational spirituality, and efforts should be made to enhance it.

Lowland rice flooding, while consuming considerable water, has adverse environmental effects, including releasing methane into the atmosphere, aggravating climate change. Several drawbacks can be attributed to water-saving alternatives, such as aerobic rice, whereas rice drip irrigation techniques have been evaluated primarily under aerobic conditions. This study investigated drip tape irrigation technique with different lateral spacings for transplanted rice in puddled paddy soil at the Rice Research Institute of Iran in Rasht over two years (2020 and 2021), compared to intermittent irrigation. In twelve isolated concrete basins, three treatments with lateral spacings of 40 (T40), 60 (T60), and 80 cm (T80), were compared with a fixed five-day period intermittent irrigation (INT). In 2020 and 2021, the INT treatment produced the highest grain yield (3814 and 4758 kg ha−1, respectively) and among drip tape treatments, T40 demonstrated the highest grain yield (3613 and 4020 kg ha−1, respectively), comparable with INT’s yield but with the highest sterile spikelets ratio. In contrast, T80 resulted in the lowest grain weight (2892 and 3653 kg ha−1, respectively) and yield characteristics values, while producing the highest weeds population. Drip tape irrigation significantly reduced water application by 27% and 36% in 2020 and 2021, respectively and T40 achieved the highest water productivity, at 0.68 kg m−3. The economic water productivity estimation of drip tape irrigation can range from 0.11 to 0.51 US$ m−3 in various scenarios, while that of intermittent irrigation remains at 0.25 US$ m−3.

Introduction: Inflammation and oxidative stress are contributed to cardiovascular diseases. Vitamin D (Vit D) has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In the current research, the effect of Vit D on cardiac fibrosis and inflammation, and oxidative stress indicators in cardiovascular tissues was studied in lipopolysaccharides(LPS) injected rats. Methods: Rats were distributed into 5 groups and were treated for 2 weeks. Control: received vehicle(saline supplemented with tween-80) instead of Vit D and saline instead of LPS, LPS: treated by 1 mg/kg of LPS and was given vehicle instead of Vit D, LPS-Vit D groups: received 3 doses of Vit D (100, 1000, and 10000 IU/kg) of Vit D in addition to LPS. Vit D was dissolved in saline supplemented with tween-80 (final concentration 0.1%) and LPS was dissolved in saline. The white blood cell (WBC) was counted. Oxidative stress markers were determined in serum, aorta, and heart. Cardiac tissue fibrosis was also estimated using Masson’s trichrome staining method. Results: WBC and malondialdehyde (MDA) were higher in the LPS group than the control group, whereas the thiol content, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) were lower in the LPS group than the control group (P

Abstract Background It has been estimated that 60,000 Iranians have been infected with HIV/AIDS and only 36% of them are aware of their status. This study aimed to design, implement and evaluate a social marketing campaign to promote HIV testing in Boyer-Ahmad County, Kohgiluyeh, and Boyer-Ahmad Province, southwest of Iran. Materials and methods This study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest without a control group, developed based on a social marketing assessment and response tool. To design the intervention formative research was conducted, comprised of four focus group discussion sessions with 42 participants of the target community along with seven in-depth semi-structured personal interviews with health care providers involved in the HIV/AIDS Program. Data analysis was done manually using content analysis and the main content was formulated for the campaign. Afterward, the slogan and messages of the campaign were developed. The campaign’s materials including banners, posters, pamphlets, referral forms, and short messages were designed, pretested, and revised. Ultimately, the campaign was conducted for one month in October 2019. To determine the effectiveness of the campaign, the rate of referrals to the Center for Behavioral Health Counseling Services (CBHCS), for three months before and after the campaign, was compared. Results Qualitative findings identified that the majority of the interviewees mentioned that the main reasons for the low rate of referrals to get tested for HIV were lack of awareness and information about HIV/AIDS and its diagnosis as well as the free and confidential tests available from the CBHCS. Moreover, the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS was another important reason for low referrals for testing. The rate of referrals for HIV testing in the three months leading up to the campaign was 18, 32, and 23 people, and three months after the campaign was 64, 81, and 44 individuals; respectively. The results of the multivariate analysis demonstrated that the campaign had increased the rates of referrals for HIV testing through its significant influence on females, and individuals with academic degrees. Conclusion It can be concluded that the social marketing campaign was successful in persuading people to get tested for HIV.

Astroviruses are a family of genetically diverse viruses associated with disease in humans and birds with significant health effects and economic burdens. Astrovirus taxonomic classification includes two genera, Avastrovirus and Mamastrovirus. However, with next-generation sequencing, broader interspecies transmission has been observed necessitating a reexamination of the current host-based taxonomic classification approach. In this study, a novel taxonomic classification method is presented for emergent and as yet unclassified astroviruses, based on whole genome sequence k-mer composition in addition to host information. An optional component responsible for identifying recombinant sequences was added to the method’s pipeline, to counteract the impact of genetic recombination on viral classification. The proposed three-pronged classification method consists of a supervised machine learning method, an unsupervised machine learning method, and the consideration of host species. Using this three-pronged approach, we propose genus labels for 191 as yet unclassified astrovirus genomes. Genus labels are also suggested for an additional eight as yet unclassified astrovirus genomes for which incompatibility was observed with the host species, suggesting cross-species infection. Lastly, our machine learning-based approach augmented by a principal component analysis (PCA) analysis provides evidence supporting the hypothesis of the existence of human astrovirus (HAstV) subgenus of the genus Mamastrovirus, and a goose astrovirus (GoAstV) subgenus of the genus Avastrovirus. Overall, this multipronged machine learning approach provides a fast, reliable, and scalable prediction method of taxonomic labels, able to keep pace with emerging viruses and the exponential increase in the output of modern genome sequencing technologies.

There is a complex correlation between thyroid hormones (THs) and liver function. Hypothyroidism as a failure of the thyroid gland to produce adequate thyroid hormones to fulfill the metabolic requirements of the body, may perturb liver structure and function. Emerging evidence suggests the protective effects of vitamin D against liver damage. Herein, this study aimed to investigate the role of vitamin D in hypothyroidism-associated liver injury. Forty male Wistar rats were classified into 4 groups: control, hypothyroid (Hypo) group received 0.05% PTU, Hypo- Vitamin D groups were given 100 and 500 IU/kg vitamin D orally via gavage for 6 weeks. Serum level of liver function including alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were measured. Malondialdehyde (MDA) level, superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity, and total thiol content were measured as oxidative stress indicators in the liver tissue. Furthermore, to estimate liver tissue fibrosis, Masson's trichrome staining was done.Our findings showed that hypothyroidism-induced liver fibrosis was associated with increased levels of ALT, AST and ALP. Though, vitamin D administration could significantly reduce the ALT, AST and ALP in the serum and suppress the accumulation of collagen fibers. Moreover, the activity of SOD and total thiol content was notably reduced, while the MDA content was significantly increased in the PTU- induced hypothyroid rats compared to the control group. Nonetheless, treatment with vitamin D improved mentioned oxidative stress markers in the Hypo-vitamin D groups. In conclusion, vitamin D due to its potential antioxidant and anti-fibrotic properties could be effective in the decrease of hypothyroidism-associated liver injury.

Abstract MG, an organic compound composed of triphenyl methane, is often widely used in various industries, especially in the food, pharmaceutical and textile industries. This study emphasizes the green synthesis of novel magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles-loaded sawdust carbon (Fe3O4/SC) and their effect on the removal of MG from the aqueous solution. To obtain the optimum conditions of MG removal using the Box–Behnken model, the independent variables such as the initial MG concentration (10–100 mg/L), pH (3–9), reaction time (10–60 min), and Fe3O4/SC nanocomposites dose (0.2–1 g/L) were experimented. According to the quadratic model, the highest removal rate (89.22%) was found at the pH of 8.62, the contact time of 59.86 min, the Fe3O4/SC ncs dose of 0.59 g /L and the MG level of 17.62 mg/L. The MG removal rate follows the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir model. The maximum absorption capacity for MG was 41.66 mg/g. These findings suggest that the Fe3O4/SC ncs has a significant potential for the MG adsorption from aqueous solution.

Objectives: Dysfunction of the thyroid gland has a negative effect on the male reproductive system. Studies also show that extracellular matrix (ECM) components play an essential role in testicular development and function. In hypothyroidism, there is a significant disruption in the ECM structure of mammalian tissues. In addition, notable changes have been reported in the germ cell population under a hypothyroid state. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between ECM proteins and apoptosis of testicular germ cells due to hypothyroidism. Materials and Methods: In the present experimental study, 20 male Balb/C mice were divided into control and hypothyroid groups. The hypothyroid group received 0.05% 6-n-propyl-2-thiouracil (PTU) through drinking water for 35 days. Allah's knowledge of the universe is the same entity, and as divine essence is constant and unlimited, his knowledge is also constant and non-existent, on the other hand, we always see a constant change in a vast material world. The question is, how does the change in the partial and diverse affairs of the universe not change the trait of divine knowledge, and therefore does not change in the unity of God? The Islamic philosophers have explained the science of God in such a way that in the scientific relation of the constant and unique nature of God with the changing beings, no change in the divine nature is required. Therefore, philosophers considered the science of God to be a detailed science after nature, an exaggeration of essence. Ibn Sina referred to this syntactic science of material knowledge of variable as a partial knowledge of a variable.Al-Ghazâlî excused them from the views of the philosophers. Ghazali's forms to philosophers were that, although God would be in all aspects of the universe, but his knowledge of them would only be general and God's knowledge would be limited to general concepts and concepts.Mulla Sadra proved a glimpse at the same time as the detailed discovery of God and responded to al-Ghazali's forms. According to the basic rule of the divine knowledge of the divine beings, the presence of objects is in the right. Introduction: This study aimed to emphasize the challenges in the error reporting system as one of the professionalism codes in clinical settings in hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: In total, 23 focused group discussion sessions were conducted with 85 faculty members, assistants, and interns, as well as 165 staff members in 2016. The participants were selected using a purposeful sampling method. Furthermore, the views of four faculty members were gathered again via emails in 2020 to ensure data accuracy. The extracted codes were managed using conventional content analysis through MAXQDA software. Results: Analysis of participants' discussions led to the identification of 105 codes, which were classified into six sub-categories and two main categories, including "barriers to reporting errors of peers " and "barriers to self-reporting errors". Conclusion: Most of the non-reporting errors are due to participant’s concerns. Such concerns are generally the result of poor system management or are merely misunderstandings; accordingly, errors' addressing only requires gaining a person's trust. The seriousness of the system in persuading people to report errors is one of the most important ways to gain a person's trust.

Background and purpose: Aging is accompanied by a decline in quality of life. Horticulture is one of the activities that most elderly enjoy and can help preserve their physical and mental activity. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of horticultural therapy on the quality of life of elderly people attending daily care centers. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with pre-test and post-test design in two groups of intervention and control in 60 elderly people in Sari, Iran 2017. In the intervention group, horticultural treatments were held in groups for 6 weeks in 12 sessions of 30-45 minutes. Quality of life was assessed using Leipad quality of life questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed in SPSS V20 applying descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean scores for quality of life in intervention group and controls before the horticultural therapy were 79.93±14.88 and 79.30±12.75 (P= 0.001) but after the intervention the scores were 86.03±11.87 and 80.36±12.54 (P= 0.001), respectively. In fact, horticultural therapy was found to significantly improve quality of life in intervention group (P = 0.001). Conclusion: The intervention was effective in improving the overall quality of life of the elderly studied. Therefore, it could be introduced as an easy, non-invasive, delightful, and helpful method.

We present a novel Deep Learning method for the Unsupervised Clustering of DNA Sequences (DeLUCS) that does not require sequence alignment, sequence homology, or (taxonomic) identifiers. DeLUCS uses Frequency Chaos Game Representations (FCGR) of primary DNA sequences, and generates “mimic” sequence FCGRs to self-learn data patterns (genomic signatures) through the optimization of multiple neural networks. A majority voting scheme is then used to determine the final cluster assignment for each sequence. The clusters learned by DeLUCS match true taxonomic groups for large and diverse datasets, with accuracies ranging from 77% to 100%: 2,500 complete vertebrate mitochondrial genomes, at taxonomic levels from sub-phylum to genera; 3,200 randomly selected 400 kbp-long bacterial genome segments, into clusters corresponding to bacterial families; three viral genome and gene datasets, averaging 1,300 sequences each, into clusters corresponding to virus subtypes. DeLUCS significantly outperforms two classic clustering methods (K-means++ and Gaussian Mixture Models) for unlabelled data, by as much as 47%. DeLUCS is highly effective, it is able to cluster datasets of unlabelled primary DNA sequences totalling over 1 billion bp of data, and it bypasses common limitations to classification resulting from the lack of sequence homology, variation in sequence length, and the absence or instability of sequence annotations and taxonomic identifiers. Thus, DeLUCS offers fast and accurate DNA sequence clustering for previously intractable datasets.

Since proliferation and differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) in culture system provide successful transplantation in this study, culture of human SSCs was compared to SACS (soft agar culture system), gelatin and control groups. The cells were isolated from seminiferous tubules of non-azoospermia patients (NOA) and cultured in DMEM for 3 weeks. The presence of SSCs in culture system was confirmed by immunocytochemistry of GFR-α1 and ITGα6 antibodies. The proliferated cells were cultured in three mentioned groups in the presence of retinoic acid and Sertoli cells conditioned medium for another 2 weeks. The number of colonies in the SACS group was significantly higher than two other groups. Before 2 weeks of culture, only Oct4 expression was observed in testicular cells (2.32 ± 0.25). After 2 weeks, the expression of Oct4 in the gelatin group was higher than that of the SACS group on day 7. Objective(s): The present study aimed to investigate the antibacterial and anti-biofilm potential of the non-oxidized form of zinc nanoparticles (Zn NPs) prepared by a ‘green approach’ using the Lavandula vera extract with microwave irradiation.Materials and Methods: After synthesis of Zn NPs, the microdilution and disk diffusion methods was applied for antimicrobial evaluation followed by anti-biofilm activity measurement using crystal violet colorimetric assay procedure.Results: The obtained results demonstrated the production of spherical Zn NPs within the size range of 30-80 nanometers. The measured minimum inhibitory concentration of the Zn NPs and ZnSO4 against the biofilm-producing and clinically isolated pathogens of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Proteus mirabilis was estimated to be more than 2560 µg/ml. In addition, a non-significant increase (P>0.05) was observed in the antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant S. aureus after the addition of the Zn NPs (500 µg/disk) to the antibiotic discs containing tobramycin, erythromycin, tetracycline, azithromycin, and kanamycin compared to ZnSO4. On the other hand, the Zn NPs significantly decreased the biofilm formation of P. mirabilis compared to P. aeruginosa (PConclusion: To sum up, the biofilm inhibitory activity of Zn NPs at higher concentrations than 160 µg/ml against S. aureus and P. mirabilis was more significant compared to the inhibitory effects of ZnSO4. However, further investigations are required in order to determine the antibacterial and anti-biofilm mechanism of Zn NPs.

Neuropathological findings in the amygdala obtained from patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) indicate varying degrees of histopathological alterations, such as neuronal loss and gliosis. The mechanisms underlying cellular damage in the amygdala of patients with MTLE have not been fully elucidated. In the present study, we assess cellular damage, determine the receptor expression of major inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmitters, and evaluate the correlation between the expression of various receptors and cell damage in the basolateral complex and the centromedial areas in the amygdala specimens resected during brain surgery on 30 patients with medically intractable MTLE. Our data reveal an increased rate of cell damage and apoptosis as well as decreased expression levels of several GABAergic receptor subunits (GABAARα1, GABAARβ3, and GABABR1) and GAD65 in the amygdalae obtained during epilepsy surgery compared to autopsy specimens. Analyses of the expression of glutamate excitatory receptor subunits (NR1, NR2B, mGluR1α, GluR1, and GluR2) reveal no significant differences between the epileptic amygdalae and autopsy control tissues. Furthermore, the increased occurrence of apoptotic cells in the amygdala is negatively correlated with the reduced expression of the studied GABAergic receptor subunits and GAD65 but is not correlated with the expression of excitatory receptors. The present data point to the importance of GABAergic neurotransmission in seizure-induced cell injury in the amygdala of patients with MTLE and suggest several GABA receptor subunits as potential druggable target structures to control epilepsy and its comorbid disorders, such as anxiety.

Background: Contact lenses are transparent, thin plastic disks that cover the surface of the cornea. Appropriate lens prescription should be performed properly by an expert to provide better visual acuity and reduce side effects. The lens administration is a multi-stage, complex and time-consuming process involving many considerations. The purpose of this study was to develop a decision support system in the field of contact lens prescription. Methods: In this fundamental study, data were collected from 127 keratoconus patients referred to the contact lens clinic at Farabi Eye Hospital, Tehran, Iran during the period of March 2013 to July 2014. Five parameters in the contact lens prescribing process were investigated. Parameters were collected as follows. “Lens vertical position”, “vertical movement of the lens during blinking” and “width of the rim” in the fluorescein pattern were obtained by recording videos of the patients while wearing the lens. “Fluorescein dye concentration” under the lens was evaluated by the physician and “patient comfort” was obtained by asking the patient to fill a simple scoring system. Approved and disapproved lenses were judged and recorded based on the decision of an expert contact lens practitioner. The decision support system was designed using artificial neural networks with the mentioned variables as inputs. Approved and disapproved lenses are considered as system outputs. Artificial neural network was developed using MATLAB® software, version 8.3 (Mathworks Inc., Natick, MA, USA). Eighty percent of the data was used to train the support vector machine and the rest of the data (20%) to test the system's performance. Results: Accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, calculated using the confusion matrix, were 91.3%, 89.8% and 92.6% respectively. The results indicate that the designed decision support system could assist contact lens prescription with high precision. Conclusion: According to the results, we conclude that hard contact lens fitness could be evaluated properly using an artificial neural network as a decision support system. The proposed system detected approved and disapproved contact lenses with high accuracy.

Professional behavior with patients and interactions with colleagues, the institution and professional bodies are influenced by many factors. The purpose of this manuscript is to clarify those personal factors affecting medical professionalism in clinical settings affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. For this purpose, a qualitative study was carried out. One hundred and eighty-two participants were recruited through purposive sampling of clinical staff, physicians, and medical students in Tehran. Data were collected through 22 focus group discussions, and conventional content analysis was used to analyze the data. The results were reported in five categories to present the participants’ views. Categories were extracted from 103 codes and consisted of 1) people's belief in professionalism, 2) personality traits, 3) problems in family, 4) mental or physical health status, and 5) communication skills. The results showed that despite the facilitator roles of some personal factors, others act as barriers to professional behaviors. In order to control their impact, it is crucial to pay attention to them at the time of student/staff selection. Strengthening support systems in the organization is also essential for decreasing the effect of family problems or physical and mental health problems.

In this work, the theoretical investigations on the buckyball systems including C20, C24, C26, C28, C30 and C19Si were done to study the structures and properties of different carbon nanoclusters. The geometries of all species were performed at the B3LYP and PBE1PBE levels using the 6-31+G (d) basis set. The HOMO–LUMO energy gap, ionization potential, electron affinity, chemical potential, electronegativity, global hardness and softness, electrophilicity and maximum amount of electronic charge of studied clusters were computed. The results showed that the computed electronic properties were considerable influenced by the size of different carbon nanoclusters. Nigella sativa (NS) has been suggested to have neuroprotective and anti-seizures properties. The aim of current study was to investigate the effects of NS hydro-alcoholic extract on neural damage after pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) – induced repeated seizures. The rats were divided into five groups: (1) control (saline), (2) PTZ (50 mg/kg, i.p.), (3–5) PTZ-NS 100, PTZ-NS 200 and PTZ-NS 400 (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg of NS extract respectively, 30 min prior to each PTZ injection on 5 consecutive days). Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of mini-scleral design (MSD) contact lenses to treat keratoconus patients who were unsatisfied with the results of corneal inlay. Methods: In this prospective interventional case series, 9 eyes of 6 keratoconus patients who were unsatisfied with the results of corneal inlay were fitted with MSD contact lenses. Demographic data, uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), and higher order aberrations (HOAs) were evaluated before contact lens fitting. Corrected visual acuity by placing the MSD contact lens with or without over-refraction, and HOAs were measured one hour after contact lens fitting. One month after contact lens wearing, corrected visual acuity by placing the MSD contact lens with over-refraction and possible contact lens related problems were assessed. Ocular comfort and contact lens handling problems were asked in follow-up visits. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistical tests. Results: Nine eyes of 6 patients were successfully fitted with the mini-scleral lens. Fitting was ideal in 7 eyes and acceptable in 2 eyes. Mean corrected visual acuity by placing the MSD lens without over-refraction was 0.09 (range, 0.00-0.15) LogMAR which was significantly better than the mean BSCVA of 0.38 (range, 0.2-0.6) LogMAR (P = 0.007). The mean root mean square (RMS) of third-order coma and trefoil significantly decreased after MSD contact lens fitting (P = 0.012 and P = 0.015, respectively); however, changes in the fourth-order spherical aberration were not statistically significant (P = 0.336). Conclusion: Mini-scleral contact lenses may be helpful in the management of visually unsatisfied patients after corneal inlay.

Background and Aim: Animal models offer an opportunity to induce febrile seizures in laboratories to assess the effects of neonatal fever and seizure on the central nervous system CNS). The present study aimed at introducing a method for febrile seizure induction in newborn rats. Materials and Methods: In order to induce hyperthermia, a number of 22-day-old male rats were placed in a 45 °C water tank for 4 minutes. Then, based on the four-stage scale, the animals which showed seizure signs were divided into 4 groups. After this stage, ten pups from the groups, which had hyperthermia and seizure, were selected for further investigations. The animals which presented no seizure behaviors were taken as hyperthermia without seizure (n=10) group. To control the effects of environmental stress a sham-control group consisting 10 rats were also included in the study. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. It is characterized by formation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain, degeneration of the cholinergic neurons and neural cell death. This study was aimed to investigate the effect of a triazine derivative, C16H12Cl2N3S, on learning in an Alzheimer's rat model. Animals were divided into seven groups; each group contained seven animals.animals received no surgery and treatment; saline group: animals received normal saline after recovery; sham group: animals received 10% DMSO after recovery; STZ group (Alzheimer's model): animals received streptozotocin (STZ) in four and six days after recovery; T5, T10 and T15 groups: animals were treated with triazine derivative, C16H12Cl2N3S, at doses of 5, 10 and 15 µM, respectively. All drugs were injected intracerebroventricular. The spatial learning and histological assessment were performed in all groups. Animals in STZ group had more deficits in spatial learning than the control group in Morris water maze. C16H12Cl2N3S improved spatial learning significantly compared to STZ group. The CA1 pyramidal layer thicknesses in STZ group were reduced significantly compared to control group. C16H12Cl2N3S increased the CA1 pyramidal layer thickness in T15 group compared to STZ group. Current findings suggest C16H12Cl2N3S may have a protective effect on learning deficit and hippocampal structure in AD.

The latissimus dorsi muscle is used as a muscular flap in head and neck reconstructive surgery. During a routine dissection in our department, we encountered an additional muscular band in the latissimus dorsi on the left side of a male cadaver. This rare muscular variation originated from the latissimus dorsi and inserted into the coracoids process. With regard to important knowledge of such a variation for safe and successful clinical practice, we present a variation of the latissimus dorsi muscle.

A computational study on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) calculations has been performed to investigate the properties of the electronic structure of (6,0) zigzag boron nitride nanotubes and two models ((a) and (b)) of diborinin-doped boron nitride nanotubes (DBD-BNNTs). The calculated structural energies yield similar values for two models of DBD-BNNTs. Isotropic () and anisotropic () chemical shielding parameters of the optimized BNNT and DBD-BNNTs are calculated. The results illustrate that the changes in chemical shielding tensors of 11B and 15N nuclei are more significant in the nearest neighborhood of the diborinin ring due to doping process. The changes of the electronic sites of the N atoms are also more significant than those of the B atoms. The dipole moments of the diborinin-doped BNNT structures show changes with respect to the pristine model. It is clear that the doping of diborinin ring decreases the energy gaps of the pure BNNT. For the pure model, the HOMO is located on the nitrogen atoms, and the LUMO is uniformly distributed throughout the B–N bonds. In contrast, for the diborinin-doped models, the majority of the HOMO and LUMO are located at the diborinin-doped regions.

This study aimed to identify the quality of web pages retrieved by Parsijoo and Parseek Persian search engines and Google to respond to students' course-related queries. This study was conducted using evaluations from a researcher-made checklist. The first population included Persian and Google search engines selected from Persian, Parsijoo, and Parseek search engines. The second population included the keywords of the section for collecting data from the fourth, fifth, and sixthgrade elementary school science textbooks, from which 12 keywords were selected by simple random sampling. The third population included web pages retrieved for each keyword by search engines. From the first ten results retrieved in each keyword search, relevant pages were selected as the sample. The results revealed that the quality of the web pages retrieved by all three search engines, i.e., Parsijoo, Parseek, and Google, was above average. However, there was a significant difference between the engines regarding the number of relevant results. This is the first study investigating the quality of web pages retrieved by search engines to respond to students' course-related queries. The study results can help the designers and developers of Persian search engines improve their performance in retrieving highquality pages and gaining a proper place among Iranian users.
