Helena Araújo's literary criticism holds a fundamental position in the Colombian literary scene of the second half of the 20th century. This article aims to explore her metaphors and proposals, enabling a reconsideration of the function of literary criticism by segmenting her critical work into two temporal periods: on one hand the decades between 1960 and 1970 and on the other hand, the eighties. Through the concept of "writing against", Araújo's literary criticism is outlined as a practice of frequent confrontation and dialogue not only with texts and writers but also with the literary work's creation, production, and distribution context, as well as the significant debate scenario formed by the 20th century's intellectual field. With a defiant voice and an acute critical gaze, Araújo developed a commitment to the country's social situation and women's liberation, which continues to challenge us today. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
