Ethylene Propylene Diene rubber (EPDM), is present in many applications. However, its crosslinked structure makes difficult its recycling. The use of devulcanized EPDM, (dEPDM) as a component of elastomeric composites, is a real possibility to reuse EPDM scraps. In this study, three matrices (natural rubber (NR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and EPDM rubber) have been tested including devulcanized EPDM as a recycled component. The EPDM previously was devulcanized using a thermomechanical process followed by microwave irradiation. The resulting devulcanized EPDM was blended with the matrixes and then the new compound was vulcanized again. The samples showed a general increase of their mechanical properties and their thermal stability specially marked for NR and SBR. Compositions including about 40 phr dEPDM within the EPDM matrix exhibited a difference in their general behavior that it was manifested by a general decrease in properties compared with lower amounts of dEPDM. In order to further understand this behavior, the samples were analyzed in terms of cross-link density, swelling degree, and scanning electron microscopy. The study of the microstructure of the samples indicated that microagglomerates of dEPDM are formed inside the samples. In case of NR or SBR the agglomerates were very linked to the matrix through the covalent bonds established in the crosslinking process. In the case of the EPDM matrix, the agglomerates presented less interfacial cross-links. The cross-linking takes place preferentially within the dEPDM microdomains and this results in a relative decrease in mechanical properties and thermal stability when compared to NR and SBR.

Introduction: Many diseases associated with hyperkinetic movement disorders manifest in women of childbearing age. It is important to understand the risks of these diseases during pregnancy, and the potential risks of treatment for the fetus. Objectives: This study aims to define the clinical characteristics and the factors affecting the lives of women of childbearing age with dystonia, chorea, Tourette syndrome, tremor, and restless legs syndrome, and to establish guidelines for management of pregnancy and breastfeeding in these patients. Results: This consensus document was developed through an exhaustive literature search and a discussion of the content by a group of movement disorder experts from the Spanish Society of Neurology. Conclusions: We must evaluate the risks and benefits of treatment in all women with hyperkinetic movement disorders, whether pre-existing or with onset during pregnancy, and aim to reduce effective doses as much as possible or to administer drugs only when necessary. In hereditary diseases, families should be offered genetic counselling. It is important to recognise movement disorders triggered during pregnancy, such as certain types of chorea and restless legs syndrome.

Introduction: The main challenge of Parkinson’s disease in women of childbearing age is managing symptoms and drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The increase in the age at which women are having children makes it likely that these pregnancies will become more common in future. Objectives: This study aims to define the clinical characteristics of women of childbearing age with Parkinson’s disease and the factors affecting their lives, and to establish a series of guidelines for managing pregnancy in these patients. Results: This consensus document was developed through an exhaustive literature search and a discussion of the available evidence by a group of movement disorder experts from the Spanish Society of Neurology. Conclusions: Parkinson’s disease affects all aspects of sexual and reproductive health in women of childbearing age. Pregnancy should be well planned to minimise teratogenic risk. A multidisciplinary approach should be adopted in the management of these patients in order to take all relevant considerations into account. Resumen: Introducción: El manejo de la enfermedad de Parkinson en la mujer en edad fértil nos plantea como principal reto el manejo de la enfermedad y los fármacos durante el embarazo y lactancia. - Abstract
Drawing primarily from critical pedagogy, decoloniality, and relevant research on "home," we offer critical perspectives on how these areas of inquiry work in dialectical ways to inform our researcher/scholarly positionalities. Largely situated within autoethnographic methods, we link this work to basketball, and as players of the game, we bring in notions of desire, politics, and emancipatory visions of play as we make connections to research from a critical orientation. We conclude with the idea of Torn Nets as a poetic metaphor for imaging through the opportunities to engage in critical research that engages the incomplete and contradictory visuals, games, and courts within academia.

Introduction. In a degenerative disorder such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), it is important to establish clinical stages that allow to know the course of the disease. Our aim was to analyze whether a scale combining Hoehn and Yahr’s motor stage (H&Y) and the nonmotor symptoms burden (NMSB) (assessed by the nonmotor symptoms scale (NMSS)) provides information about the disability and the patient’s quality of life (QoL) with regard to a defined clinical stage. Materials and Methods. Cross-sectional study in which 603 PD patients from the COPPADIS cohort were classified according to H&Y (1, stage I; 2, stage II; 3, stage III; 4, stage IV/V) and NMSB (A: NMSS = 0–20; B: NMSS = 21–40; C: NMSS = 41–70; D: NMSS ≥ 71) in 16 stages (HY.NMSB, from 1A to 4D). QoL was assessed with the PDQ-39SI, PQ-10, and EUROHIS-QOL8 and disability with the Schwab&England ADL (Activities of Daily Living) scale. Results. A worse QoL and greater disability were observed at a higher stage of H&Y and NMSB (p

- Abstract
Historically "Red States" in the United States offer an example of the complex intersections of public education, race, conservative politics, language, and power/resistance which teachers live and work amongst. This article considers these intersections by focusing on the experiences and reflections of a former red state teacher and organizer. Following this, the article situates these reflections within border thinking and borderlands work, attempting to theorize the work of red state teachers. In doing so, the theoretical framework of Border Thinking Reflexivity is offered as a potential way of approaching such experiences and developing deeper understandings of the work of teaching in historically red states.

- Abstract
This article examines the role of sport as it pertains to Latino male faculty. Specifically, we offer a contribution to the dearth of scholarship at the intersections of sport and how Latino male faculty make sense of their identities and academic journeys. The use of sport as a reference for understanding Latinx faculty identity is for the most part non-existent within education research that is focused on Latino males. Drawing from this context, we offer this piece as a means by which to examine sport with links to family, community, faculty navigation and resistance skills.

Introduction: A large percentage of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) develop motor fluctuations, dyskinesias, and severe non-motor symptoms (NMS) within 3 to 5 years of starting dopaminergic therapy, and these motor complications are refractory to treatment. Several authors refer to this stage of the disease as advanced PD. Objective: To define the clinical manifestations of advanced PD and the risk factors for reaching this stage of the disease. Development: This consensus document has been prepared by using an exhaustive literature search and by discussion of the contents by an expert group on movement disorders of the Sociedad Española de Neurología (Spanish Neurology Society), coordinated by two of the authors (JK and MRL). Conclusions: Severe motor fluctuations and dyskinesias, axial motor symptoms resistant to levodopa, and cognitive decline are the main signs in the clinical phenotype of advanced PD. Wool fibers have to be properly washed out before being processed into fabrics. This scouring process generates high pollutant wastes in two forms, a liquid phase and a solid phase. Both phases contain a large amount of the grease (wool wax) generated by the animal which may be recovered and purified to obtain lanolin, a highly valued product. To evaluate the amount of grease in such wastes, Soxhlet extraction with organic solvent is the technique more widely used in laboratories worldwide as it provides a high grease recovery although it is a time and solvent consuming technique. The present work compares alternative extraction techniques to the Soxhlet extraction (Microwave, automated Soxhlet and Supercritical Fluids) recovering 100% of the grease, reducing the time of analysis, the solvent consumption and the waste generation.

Currents data from a ten-month period at 197 measuring points covering all Yucatan Channel were processed by harmonic analysis to estimate tidal parameters for the O1, K1, M2 and S2 components. The highly detailed coverage confirms the known dominance for the O1 and K1 diurnal components, but also showed, for the first time, their intensification in the deep eastern margin of the channel where maximum amplitudes in main axis are 17 and 19 cm.s-1. The data also confirms weak semi-diurnal components, of which the most intense, M2 and S2, have amplitudes only up to 2 cm.s-1. The tidal ellipses were elongated (i.e. with eccentricities close to one) in the NNW direction. The O1, K1, M2 and S2 contributions in transport variability through the channel have amplitudes of 11.7, 12.5, 1.2 and 1.0 Sv, all well determined above noise.

Introduction: Acute plastic deformation refers to a traumatic bending or bowing without a detectable cortical defect. Case Presentation and Discussion: We describe a rare case from an individual that was exhumed from the Hispano-Mudejar necropolis in Uceda (Guadalajara, Spain) dated between the 13th and 14th centuries AD. The case corresponds to an adult woman, with a bowing involvement of the left ulna and radius. After making the differential diagnosis with various pathologies likely to present with this alteration, we reached the diagnosis of acute plastic deformation of the forearm through external and radiological examination and comparison with the healthy contralateral forearm. Conclusions: Acute plastic deformation is a rare traumatic injury, not described until the last century and only rarely described in palaeopathological contexts. We contribute a new case, the first being sufficiently documented, contributing to the knowledge and diagnosis of this type of trauma in the ancient bone, while deepening the knowledge of the living conditions of the medieval Mudejar population of Uceda.

STUDY OBJECTIVE Learning to evaluate and treat chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is an established curriculum objective within the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS). Our aim was to investigate current educational experiences related to the evaluation and management of CPP and the impacts of those experiences on FMIGS fellows and recent fellowship graduates, including satisfaction, confidence in management, and clinical interest in CPP. DESIGN The AAGL-Elevating Gynecologic Surgery Special Interest Group for pelvic pain developed a 33-item survey tool to investigate the following topics: (1) current educational experiences with the assessment and management of patients with CPP, (2) satisfaction with fellowship training in CPP, (3) perceived preparedness to treat patients with CPP, (4) plans to incorporate management of CPP into clinical practice, and (5) perceived desires to expand CPP exposure. Composite scores were created to examine experiences related to diseases associated with CPP and pharmaceutical and procedural treatment options. SETTING Electronic survey. PATIENTS Not applicable. INTERVENTIONS The survey was distributed via AAGL email lists and offered on FMIGS social media sites from August 2017 to November 2017 to all active FMIGS fellows and individuals who graduated the fellowship during the preceding 5 years. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS Fifty-three of 82 (65%) current FMIGS fellows and 104 of 169 (62%) recent fellowship graduates completed the survey. Only 66% of current fellows endorsed working with a fellowship faculty member whose clinical work focused on CPP. Most current fellows reported having a "good amount" of experience or "extensive" experience with superficial endometriosis (39/53, 74%) and deeply infiltrative endometriosis (34/53, 64%), whereas the majority reported having "no" or "little" experience with frequently comorbid conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (68%), pelvic floor tension myalgia (55%), and interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (51%). For both current fellows and recent graduates, increased CPP Disease Experience composite scores were associated with satisfaction with CPP training (current fellows odds ratio [OR] 1.9, p =.002; recent graduates OR 1.5, p < .001), perceived preparedness to treat patients with CPP (current fellows OR 2.0, p = .0021; recent graduates OR 1.5, p

Artificial insemination (AI) is considered as the most efficient feasible tool to improve the dairy cows’ profitability and productivity. In bovines, AI helps to promote genetic improvement and can positively impact the rural economy. The achievement of education in rural populations was one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), made by the United Nations. During the last World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), it was concluded that most of the world’s poor, illiterate and undernourished population lives in rural areas; therefore, access to education is considered one of the greatest challenges for governments in countries with developing economies. To determine the effects of a theoretical-practical training program related to rural management and leadership, AI, and bovine genetic improvement, on the perception and level of knowledge in a rural Colombian population that has been affected by the armed conflict. Phase 1. Included the practical and theoretical training of undergraduate animal sciences students in three dimensions rural management; leadership (D-ML), AI in bovines (D-AI), and genetic improvement (D-GI) after training students were evaluated and selected according to their skills, characteristics, solidarity skills, and their social sensitivity was identified. Phase 2. Included the socioeconomic characterization and training of rural residents by students and field experts in three dimensions D-ML, D-AI, and D-GI. After training we evaluated the perception and level of knowledge before and after training in 63 rural residents using an evaluative instrument. The data before and after (post-test) of the theoretical-practical training, were analyzed to obtain a statistical significance. The perception of knowledge in rural residents was low for general knowledge (2.48±0.76, p ˂ 0.05), D-ML (2.89±1.18, p ˂ 0.05) and D-AI and D-GI (2.17±0.83, p ˂ 0.05). On the other hand, before the theorical-practical training the level of general knowledge was 45.9%, however, after the training increased at 77.6% (p

Early embryo development is driven first by the maternal RNAs and proteins accumulated during the oocyte's cytoplasmic maturation and then after the embryo genome activation. In mammalian cells, ATP generation occurs via oxidative pathways or by glycolysis, whereas in embryonic stem cells, the consumption of glucose, pyruvate, lipids, and amino acids results in ATP synthesis. Although the bovine embryo has energy reserves in glycogen and lipids, the glycogen concentration is deficient. Conversely, lipids represent the most abundant energy reservoir of bovine embryos, where lipid droplets-containing triacylglycerols are the main fatty acid stores. Oocytes of many mammalian species contain comparatively high amounts of lipids stored as droplets in the ooplasm. L-carnitine has been described as a cofactor that facilitates the mobilization of fatty acids present in the oocyte's cytoplasm into the mitochondria to facilitate β-oxidation processes. However, the L-carnitine effects by addition to media in the in vitro produced embryos on the quality are highly disputed and contradictory by different researchers. This review's objective was to explore the effect that the addition of L-carnitine on culture media could have on the overall bovine embryo production in vitro, from the oocyte metabolism to the modulation of gene expression in the developing embryos.

Objective The aim of this study was to estimate the efficacy of preemptive paracervical block or uterosacral ligament infiltration in reducing postoperative pain and opioid consumption after benign minimally invasive hysterectomy. Data Sources We searched MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Google Scholar from inception until February 2020. Methods of Study Selection We identified randomized placebo-controlled trials assessing the primary outcome of pain and opioid consumption after paracervical block or uterosacral infiltration in benign laparoscopic, vaginal, or robotic hysterectomy. Two investigators evaluated studies for risk of bias and quality of evidence. Tabulation, Integration, and Results We reviewed 219 abstracts; 6 studies met the inclusion criteria: 3 using paracervical block (2 vaginal and 1 laparoscopic) and 3 using uterosacral ligament infiltration (all vaginal). Two studies were included in the meta-analysis (both vaginal hysterectomy). Because of lack of numerical data, or comparison, the other 4 studies are reported in narrative form. Three controlled trials reported a moderate benefit from paracervical block up to 8 hours after vaginal and 4 hours after laparoscopic surgery. Meta-analysis could not be performed because of the lack of numerical data for pooling results or the lack of a laparoscopic hysterectomy comparison group. Three trials reported that uterosacral infiltration decreases pain up to 6 hours after vaginal hysterectomy, and meta-analysis pooling the results of 2 of these studies demonstrated improvement in pain up to 4 hours on a 0- to 100-mm visual analog scale for pain (-19.97 mm; 95% confidence interval, -29.02 to -10.91; P < 0.000). Five trials reported a moderate reduction in cumulative opioid use within 24 hours after vaginal surgery for both paracervical block and uterosacral infiltration. Meta-analysis was not performed for paracervical block because only 1 trial provided suitable data for pooling. Meta-analysis pooling the results of 2 trials of uterosacral infiltration demonstrated opioid consumption of 20.73 morphine milligram equivalents less compared with controls (95% confidence interval, -23.54 to -17.91; P < 0.000). Conclusions There were a total of 6 randomized placebo-controlled studies evaluated in this study. Although a meta-analysis was unable to be performed for all studies because of lack of comparison groups or numerical data, there is evidence that preemptive uterosacral ligament infiltration may reduce postoperative pain and opioid consumption after vaginal hysterectomy. Our study does not allow us to make any substantive conclusions on the use of paracervical block in vaginal hysterectomy or the use of either type of injection in laparoscopic or robotic hysterectomy.

Brachymetacarpia, a form of brachydactyly, is one of the so-called rare diseases because of its low prevalence. Although it is a well-known malformation today, which occasionally requires surgical correction, it is not, or hardly, reported in the palaeopathological literature. The case presented here includes an individual exhumed from the Mudejar cemetery in Uceda (Guadalajara, Spain) dated between the 13th and 14th centuries. It was in an acceptable state of preservation, except for the skull, missing except for the mandible. Its sex was determined as female and the age as a young adult. On examining the hands, the short length of both the 4th and 5th metacarpals and the shortening of the distal phalanx of one of the thumbs were noteworthy. No anomaly was observed in the bones of the feet, which were only partially recovered. Due to the characteristics of the shortening and bones affected, it was considered that the case probably corresponded to type E of brachydactyly in the Bell and Temtamy classifications and to subtype E2 in the Hertzog classification. No data were found in the bones or teeth, suggesting their inclusion in any of the multiple clinical syndromes with this abnormality. The purpose of this review is to update readers on the multifactorial nature of pelvic pain with specific considerations for the female to male (FtM) transgender patient. Secondary effects of testosterone therapy include both genital and musculoskeletal changes that may contribute to the development of pelvic pain. Hysterectomy is therapeutic for gender affirmation and underlying pain conditions. Postsurgical pain from further pelvic reconstruction may be the result of the reconstruction itself, surgical scarring, or prostheses. Pelvic pain is a common condition with many contributing factors. For the FtM patient, pelvic pain may be present at any point in the transition process. Pain conditions may be pre-existing or occur as a result of medical or surgical treatment of gender dysphoria. Research is needed on sex hormone-specific influences on the development of pelvic pain and mitigation strategies for treatment-specific development of pelvic pain in the transgender population.

Introduction Dyspareunia can be a debilitating symptom of endometriosis. We performed this study to examine women's experiences with painful sexual intercourse, the impact of dyspareunia on patients' lives, and perceptions of interactions with healthcare practitioners. Methods An anonymous 24-question online survey was provided through the social media network MyEndometriosisTeam.com and was available internationally to women aged 19-55 years who were self-identified as having endometriosis and had painful sexual intercourse within the past 2 years. Results From June 13 to August 20, 2018, 860 women responded and 638 women completed the survey (United States, n = 361; other countries, n = 277; 74% survey completion rate). Respondents reported high pain levels (mean score, 7.4 ± 1.86; severity scale of 0 [no pain] to 10 [worst imaginable pain]), with 50% reporting severe pain [score of 8 to 10]). Nearly half (47%) reported pain lasting ≥24 hours after intercourse with the pain often leading to avoiding (34%) or stopping (29%) intercourse. Pain impacted patients' lives, causing depression (61%), anxiety (61%), low self-esteem (55%), and relationship strain. Many women feared to seek help (10%). Of those women who approached practitioners, many (36%) did not receive effective treatments. Discussion Women with dyspareunia related to endometriosis experience severe pain that can negatively impact patients' lives. Dyspareunia may be a challenging topic for discussion for both patient and practitioner, leading to a suboptimal treatment approach and management. Results suggest that practitioners need improved education and training regarding dyspareunia to evaluate and treat patients' sexual pain caused by endometriosis.

This case report describes azoospermia in a French bulldog. The dog, with historical evidence of unsuccessful insemination after both artificial insemination and natural breeding, presented with physiological parameters (testosterone levels and karyotype) within normal ranges. Scrotal palpation and ultrasound of both testicles indicated aplasia of the epididymis and vas deferens. Two seminal samples were examined and no sperm cells were found. In conclusion, before starting an assisted reproduction procedure, it is necessary to perform sperm analysis to determine the reproductive capacity of the dog intended as a stud dog.

Measurements of jet substructure describing the composition of quark- and gluon-initiated jets are presented. Proton-proton (pp) collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). Generalized angularities are measured that characterize the jet substructure and distinguish quark- and gluon-initiated jets. These observables are sensitive to the distributions of transverse momenta and angular distances within a jet. The analysis is performed using a data sample of dijet events enriched in gluon-initiated jets, and, for the first time, a Z+jet event sample enriched in quark-initiated jets. The observables are measured in bins of jet transverse momentum, and as a function of the jet radius parameter. Each measurement is repeated applying a “soft drop” grooming procedure that removes soft and large angle radiation from the jet. Using these measurements, the ability of various models to describe jet substructure is assessed, showing a clear need for improvements in Monte Carlo generators.

A measurement of inclusive four-jet production in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is presented. The transverse momenta of jets within vertical bar eta vertical bar 4.7 are required to exceed 35, 30, 25, and 20 GeV for the first-, second-, third-, and fourth-leading jet, respectively. Differential cross sections are measured as functions of the jet transverse momentum, jet pseudorapidity, and several other observables that describe the angular correlations between the jets. The measured distributions show sensitivity to different aspects of the underlying event, parton shower modeling, and matrix element calculations. In particular, the interplay between angular correlations caused by parton shower and double-parton scattering contributions is shown to be important. The double-parton scattering contribution is extracted by means of a template fit to the data, using distributions for single-parton scattering obtained from Monte Carlo event generators and a double-parton scattering distribution constructed from inclusive single-jet events in data. The effective double-parton scattering cross section is calculated and discussed in view of previous measurements and of its dependence on the models used to describe the single-parton scattering background.
