Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with high economic and social burdens. This study aimed to determine the risk factors of microalbuminuria among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Microalbuminuria is predictive of early-stage renal complications and subsequent progression to renal dysfunction. We collected data on type 2 diabetes patients who participated in the 2019–2020 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The risk factors for microalbuminuria among patients with type 2 diabetes were analyzed using logistic regression. As a result, the odds ratios were 1.036 (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.019–1.053, p < 0.001) for systolic blood pressure, 0.966 (95% CI = 0.941–0.989, p = 0.007) for high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, 1.008 (95% CI = 1.002–1.014, p = 0.015) for fasting blood sugar level, and 0.855 (95% CI = 0.729–0.998, p = 0.043) for hemoglobin level. A significant strength of this study is the identification of low hemoglobin level (i.e., anemia) as a risk factor for microalbuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes. This finding implies that the early detection and management of microalbuminuria can prevent the development of diabetic nephropathy.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine factors that affect chronic illness anticipated stigma among patient living with Parkinson"s disease. The attributes of stigma measured in this study were labeling, expectation of prejudice, negative stereotyping, and discrimination. Chronic illness anticipated stigma was correlated with measures of mental and physical health as well as certain health behaviors. Methods: The sample included 250 adults with idiopathic Parkinson’s disease that attended D university hospital in B metropolitan city from June to August 2014. Results: The chronic illness anticipated stigma were significantly correlated to depression, anxiety, Schwab & England ADL, Hoehn & Yahr stage, and age. The significant predictors of chronic illness anticipated stigma were anxiety, depression, and age. These factors accounted for 47% of variance in chronic illness anticipated stigma. Conclusions: In order to reduce the chronic illness anticipated stigma, nurse involved in the treatment and care of patients with Parkinson’s disease should encourage patients to attend programs of depression and anxiety management in Parkinson"s disease and systemic education programs on stigma.

Purpose: Depression is a common sign of suffering among the patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Frequent and severe neuropsychiatric symptoms lead to high levels of distress in patients and their caregivers, which results in the high levels of caregiver burden. The aim of this study was to determine the predictors of caregiver burden in caregivers of the patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Methods: The study included 183 consecutive PD patients and their caregivers. Patients were assessed using the Hoehn and Yahr scale, Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale. Caregivers’ depressive symptoms were evaluated using the Caregiver Burden Inventor (CBI), BDI, and World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale. Results: All of the patients reported one or more neuropsychiatric symptoms. Patients’ and caregivers' depressive symptoms, caregivers' age and education, time for caregiving, and quality of life were significantly associated with the increased caregiver burden. After controlling the level of education as a potential confounding variable, depression in both patients and caregivers, time for caregiving, and quality of life explained 45.6% of the variance in caregiver burden. Conclusion: Substantial attention needs to be given to the early identification of depression in PD patients and their caregivers to improve caregivers' quality of life and burden.

PURPOSE This study was aimed to develop a computerized reminder system and evaluate it's effect in terms of percent age change of screening, and satisfaction. METHOD It was conducted through 6 phases : Analyzing the job and defining the basic input data, developing the information system, collecting and inputing data, testing the system, working with the system, and evaluating it's effect. Participants were 787 people (female 30-69 years, and males 40-49 years) in 2 dong of Suyoung gu, Busan, who haven't had cancer screening for the stomach, breast, or cervix since Dec. 2000. There were three experimental groups: a letter; calling and calling after the letter reminder, and a non-equivalent control group. To determine whether services were obtained, a telephone survey was done after two months of follow-up. RESULT A cancer screening information system with five DB modules was developed. Overall compliance with screening was not statistically significantly changed before and after applying computerized reminders for all three screening sites. Only 16% were satisfied with the reminder. CONCLUSION This data didn't show that a reminder effort was effective of screening. However, because the evaluation interval was too short to find a difference in screening rate, we recommend additional longer prospective follow up studies.

The importance of screening or repeat screening for cervical and breast cancer is well known to decrease the chance of death from cancer. Few data is avaliable regarding factors associated with participation in cervical and breast cancer screening and repeat screening examinations. This study was to investigate the associations of demographic factors, health status and cancer risk recognition, attitude to cancer screening, health behaviors, and inhibiting or facilitating factors to cervical and breast cancer screening with participation in the screening tests. Data was collected with self-administrated questionnaires from 342 women, aged 40 to 69 years. The cancer screenings were classified into have had or never groups and repeat or not repeated groups. In the case of cervical and breast cancer screening, the have had group was 90 (26.3%), and 82 (24.0%) and the repeat group was 17 (5.0%), and 13 (3.8%) respectively. According to logistic regression analysis, age ( : OR=3.25, 95% CI=1.27-8.26), breast cancer screening (Do vs Don't : OR=14.49, 95% CI=7.46-27.78) and other person's cancer (Yes vs No : OR=4.27, 95% CI=1.01-18.05) were statistically significantly associated with participation in screening for cervical cancer. Regular exercise (Do vs Don't : OR=2.76, 95% CI=1.30-5.88) and cervical cancer screening (Do vs Don't : OR=13.70, 95% CI=7.09-26.32) were statistically significantly related to participation in screening for breast cancer.
