Providing sufficient and high-quality eggs plays an essential role in accommodating food safety and food security for consumers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Phyllanthus niruri and Andrographis paniculata extracts on egg yolk index and haugh units (HU) value in laying hens with Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli. This type of study was experimental using a complete randomized design with 100 experimental units of five treatments (P-) placebo, (P+) infected with Avian Pathogenic E. coli without P. niruri and A. paniculata extract, then groups of chickens infected with Avian Pathogenic E. coli and administration of (P1) 10% of P. niruri and 30% of A. paniculata, (P2) 20% of P. niruri and 20% of A. paniculata, (P3) 30% of P. niruri and 10% of A. paniculata then egg yolk index and HU value were evaluated. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test. The results showed a significant difference between the treatment groups based on the egg yolk index and the HU value. It can be concluded that P2 can be recommended for laying hens with avian pathogenic E. coli.

This study aimed to identify the parasitic nematode Hysterothylacium sp. using the sequencing method. A sampling of Hysterothylacium sp. was taken from 60 striped grouper fish (Ephinephelus sexfasciatus) and has characteristics such as brown color, booring teeth on the anterior, a simple digestive system including the esophagus, stomach (ventriculus), small intestine and does not have mucron on the posterior. Specific primers for the COX-2 mtDNA gene (210F and 211R) were used for DNA amplification (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and DNA sequencing with a length of 629bp. The positive result of the PCR method (sample S) was sequenced. Then, the results of the sequencing method were compared with the reference DNA sequences KY065298.1, MF120253.1, MF120248.1, and KU886687.1. Furthermore, Homology and kinship tests were carried out using GenBank (NCBI). Results showed a 97% similarity of the sample with Hysterothylacium amoyense cytochrome oxidase subunit II (COX-2) gene MF120253.1.

Background and Aim: Antibiotics that increase growth have long been employed as a component of chicken growth. Long-term, unchecked usage may lead to microbial imbalance, resistance, and immune system suppression. Probiotics are a suitable and secure feed additive that may be provided as a solution. The objective of this research was to ascertain the effects of dietary multistrain probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium spp., and Lactobacillus plantarum) on the morphology (length and weight) of reproductive organs and productivity performance of laying hens during the early stage of laying. Materials and Methods: One hundred ISA Brown commercial layer chicks of the same body weight (BW) that were 5 days old were divided into five treatments, each with four replicates and four chicks in each duplicate. There were five different dietary interventions: (T1) 100% base feed; (T2) base feed with 2.5 g of antibiotic growth promoter/kg feed; (T3) base feed plus probiotics; (T4) base feed at 1 mL/kg with probiotics; and (T5) base feed with probiotics, 3 mL/kg feed, 5 mL/kg of feed. The parameters observed were performance, internal and exterior egg quality, and the morphology (length and weight) of laying hens’ reproductive organs. Results: Probiotic supplementation (L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and L. plantarum) significantly affected the BW, feed intake, egg weight, yolk index, albumin index, Haugh unit, egg height, egg width, and morphology (length and weight) of laying hens’ reproductive organs compared to the control group (basic feed). In addition, there was no discernible difference between treatment groups in theeggshell weight and thickness variables across all treatment groups. Conclusion: When laying hens were between 17 and 21 weeks old, during the early laying period, microbiota inoculum supplements (L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and L. plantarum) increased growth, the quality of the internal and external layers’ eggs, and the morphology of the laying hens’ reproductive organs.

This study aimed to determine the effects of tomato juice on the number of Leydig cells and the diameter of the seminiferous tubules of mice exposed to lead acetate. Twenty-five male mice were divided into five groups. Mice in the control (C-) group were given placebos. Meanwhile, mice in C+, T1, T2, and T3 groups were exposed to lead acetate at a dose of 100 mg/kg BW/day for 14 days and given tomato juice respectively at 0, 0.16, 0.32, and 0.64 mL/day from day 8 to day 35. Background and Aim: Pullorum is an acute and chronic disease caused by Salmonella pullorum, often infecting chicken farms. Pullorum disease treatment using antibiotics that do not follow the control dose can cause bacteria to become antibiotic-resistant. Meniran contributes to inhibiting and antagonizing bacteria and can increase the efficiency of chicken feed because of its bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. This study aimed to determine the activity of Meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) in broilers infected with S. pullorum. Materials and Methods: In vitro study that was conducted includes phytochemical test, diffusion, and dilution methods using Meniran extract at 5%, 10%, 20%, and 40% concentrations and tylosin at 2% concentration. The data of the dilution method (minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] and minimum bactericidal concentration [MBC]) were processed using probit analysis to determine LC50. In vivo study was conducted by randomly dividing 20 broilers into five treatment groups, four per group. The chickens (except in group P0–) were infected with S. pullorum aged 14 days. Then, the treatment was conducted according to the divided groups when the chickens were aged 21-34 days. The said treatments are P0– (uninfected S. pullorum and unadministered with Meniran extract), P0+ (infected with S. pullorum and unadministered with Meniran extract), and P1, P2, and P3 (infected with S. pullorum and administered with Meniran extract with 5%, 10%, and 20% concentrations, respectively). Data from the phytochemical test were analyzed as descriptive. The data from the diffusion method were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's test. Then, the results of broilers' performance were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's test. Results: The phytochemical test showed positive for alkaloid, tannin, saponin, flavonoid, and steroid/triterpenoid. The diffusion method formed the largest zone at 40% concentration with 15.6 mm, while 20%, 10%, and 5% had average of 13.15 mm, 8.38 mm, and 5.8 mm, respectively. The dilution method (MIC and MBC) exhibited the antibacterial ability of Meniran extract against S. pullorum at 20% dose and LC50 14.118% concentration. The Meniran extract administration in broilers exhibited improved performance of chickens infected with S. pullorum, with the administration of 20% dose of Meniran extract showing the best result. Conclusion: About 20% concentration Meniran extract can serve as an antibacterial agent and showed the best results in broilers infected with S. pullorum.

This study aims to determined the effects of using nano-meniran (Phyllanthus niruri) extract on the feed economic value and income over feed costs of broiler chicken farms. This research method was an observational study with a sample of one-day-old Cobb strain broiler chicken at PT. Haraka Kitri Endah. A total of 79.600 day-old-chicken were divided into 4 groups of treatments and eight replications, each group of treatments consisted of 19.900 day-old-chicken. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil to the quail formula feed. This research is an experimental study using the factorial method. This experiment used 96 quail (Cortunix cortunix japonica), which were randomized into 6 treatments with 4 replications. Quails were divided into 6 groups and treated with different concentrations of turmeric flour and fish oil in each feed formula. The effects of different formula feeds were observed on changes in egg production and organoleptic changes. Egg production data were taken every day from week 3 to week 4 during the treatment period. The data taken is called Quail Day Production (QDP%). The organoleptic data of eggs were taken at the 3rd week of treatment and the preference test was carried out by 40 panelists on the aroma, taste and level of preference of quail eggs after being boiled. The addition of 0.3% turmeric flour significantly affected egg production but its combination with fish oil did not affect egg production. The combination of the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil does not change the aroma of the eggs, but changes the taste of the eggs.

The purpose of this research aimed to prove the effect of meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) on layer hen infected with Escherichia coli to reduce inflammation and congestion on infundibulum histopathological view. This research used 20 samples of layer hen. The treatment in this research was P0- (not infected with Esherichia coli and did not treated with meniran(Phyllanthus niruri Linn)), P0+ (infected with Escherichia coli and did not treated with meniran(Phyllanthus niruri Linn)), P1 (infected with Escherichia coli and treated with 10% meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn)), P2 (infected with Escherichia coli and treated with 20% meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn)), P3 (infected with Escherichia coli and treated with 30% meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn)). The data of this study analyzed by Kruskal-wallis and followed with Mann-withney test. The result of this research can be concluded that 10% concentration of meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) was effective to eliminate Escherichia coli, 20% concentration of meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) able to promote antibacterial activity, and 30% concentration of meniran extract shown antibacterial rate on high potential so it can be used to reduce inflammation and congestion as the result of Escherichia coli infection.

Escherichia coli (E. coli) can be isolated from the environment both inside and outside the hospes body. There were 89 serotypes in which showed 21% resistance to various antibiotics, such as enterotoxigenic E.coli. Alternative efforts are needed to overcome this, one of them through the use of medicinal plants, such as meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn). Meniran plant is an immunomodulator that serves to repair the immune system of the body. The aim of research is the research was done through several stages: isolation and identification of enterotoxigenic E. coli from several broiler farms in East Java using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, E. coli resistance test against some antibiotics, making meniran extract and activation test against enterotoxigenic E. coli n The study was divided into five treatments: T0+ (group of chickens were infected by enterotoxigenic E. coli T0- (control group, not infected), T1 (infected by enteroxigenic E. coli + 20% meniran extract), T2 (infected by enterotoxigenic E. coli + 25% extract meniran), T3 (infected by enterotoxigenic E. coli + 30% extract meniran). Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri L.) administration on leukocyte profile of broiler chickens infected with Mycoplasma gallisepticum. Materials and Methods: Thirty broiler chickens, 21 days old were divided into five treatment groups. P0 (-): Chickens without any treatment; P0 (+), P1, P2, and P3: Chickens were infected with M. gallisepticum 108 cells/ml/animal orally, then given no treatment, Meniran extract 60%, 62.5%, and 65% orally at a dose of 1 ml/kg body weight, respectively. The treatment of Meniran extract was given for 7 days. Results: Leukocyte count with the lowest number showed in Group P0 (-) and Group P3 (p>0.05). Increased number of basophils was found in Group P0 (+), Group P1, and Group P2. The highest number of heterophils was found in Group P0 (+) and was significantly different from Group P0 to P3 (p0.05). Discussion: Increased the number of leukocytes is often observed in inflammation due to general infections, trauma, or toxicity. Shifting in the number of heterophile or lymphocytes, an increase in the number of monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils may also be associated with various infectious or inflammatory conditions. Heterophils play a role as an antibacterial defense through several effective mechanisms. When infections and inflammation occur, the heterophils will increase to phagocytosis microbe. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Meniran extract (P. niruri L.) at a dose of 65% can decrease the total number of leukocytes in broilers infected with M. gallisepticum.

Enterotoxin Escherichia coli resistant to antibiotics on broiler. The used of antibiotics should be re-evaluated, as well as over Escherichia coli enterotoxin. Plants meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) is a plant that can be used as an alternative prevention and treatment of diseases caused by Escherichia coli enterotoxin. In this research, broilers at the age of 23 days were divided into six groups. Two groups are positive control was infected by Escherichia coli and negative control was not infected by Escherichia coli. Hot water extract of Spirulina platensis which is contain of lipopolysaccharide can be used as animmunostimulant. This study aimed to determine the effect of hot water extract of S. platensis throughinjection on the non-specific immune response of Osphronemusgouramy. The treatment was given throughintraperitoneal injection of hot water extract of S. platensis with doses of 1%, 10%, 20% and PBS, PhosphateBuffer Saline (control) 0.1 ml/fish. Fish reared in the aquarium (67 l volune) with density 12 fishes/aquarium with average weight of 7.5 – 8.5 g/fish. Blood samples of fish taken from the caudal vein on day0 (before administration of the extract), 3 and 5 days after administration of the extract for the measurementof total leucocytes, differential leucocytes and phagocytic activity. Results showed an increased in totalleucocytes, phagocytic activity, monocytes and neutrophils of fish that given hot water extract of S. platensis.The addition of hot water extract of S. platensis at 1% through injection gave total leucocytes, phagocyticactivity, monocytes and neutrophils on days 3 were 543.73 x 103sel/mm3,69.30%, 34.33% and 14%respectively higher and significantly different to control.

A surveillance of new pathogenic variants of Vibrio cholerae O1 strains was initiated to identify the emerge and spread throughout Surabaya. Findings from seven years (1994–2000) and from years 2008 until now by using a two-fold surveillance strategy was pursued involving 1) hospital-based case recognition, and 2) environment samples. Rectal swabs and environment samples were transported to ITD-UNAIR, Surabaya for culture and isolates were characterized by serotypic identification and arbitrarily primed PCR fingerprints revealed a group of strains with similar fingerprint patterns that are distinct from those of the current El Tor epidemic strain. These strains have been analyzed by in vitro technique and the group has been denominated the Surabaya-Indonesian variant of V. cholerae O1.

Segunung is one of the six Dusun in Carangwulung, Wonosalam, Jombang, East Java where Sapi Perah Jaya and Wanita Tani Perah Jaya groups manage to breed 210 dairy cows. The milk produced is deposited to KUD Anjasmoro before being transferred to the milk processing industry and some is processed by Wanita Tani Perah Jaya into pasteurized milk. The problems faced by dairy farmers, especially after the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak, are the decreasing milk and feed production, and livestock health. The problem faced by Wanita Tani Perah Jaya is a lack of knowledge about dairy product verification and marketing. To solve this problem the researchers administer nano meniran extract containing bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and Saponin flavonoids, as an immunomodulator, stimulate and improve the immune system and the impaired immune function, while Saponins increase the diameter of the villi and the permeability of intestinal cell walls, thereby affecting the absorption of nutrients carried by feed. If the immunity increases and the absorption offeed nutrients is good, it will increase milk production in dairy cows. Through this community service activity, there will be increased empowerment of partners of the Sapi Perah Jaya Group with training in making concentrate with meniran nano extract as well as milk processing at the Wanita Tani Perah Jaya. The solution is to diversify milk in the form of yogurt. This activity was carried out using three methods: 1) Counseling on making beef concentrate with the addition of nano meniran extract, making yogurt and marketing dairy products, 2) Training on making the concentrate and making yogurt 3) Monitoring and evaluation that was carried out every month for 3 months after the counseling and training were carried out. The results obtainedfrom this community service are the increased empowerment of partners and the increased skills of farmers in making concentrates and dairy products in the form of yogurt and marketing them. This study aimed to determine the activity of Ketapang extract (Terminalia cattapa L.) in layers infected with APEC. In vitro study that was conducted dilution methods using Ketapang extract at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% concentrations. In vivo study was conducted by randomly dividing 20 layers into five treatment groups, four per group. The chickens (except in group P0-) were infected with APEC aged 24 weeks. Then, the treatment was conducted according to the divided groups in one week. The said treatments are P0-(uninfected APEC and unadministered with Ketapang extract), P0+ (infected with APEC and unadministered with Ketapang extract), and P1, P2, and P3 (infected with APEC and administered with Ketapang extract with 5%, 10%, and 20% concentrations, respectively). The data from layers' performance were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's test. The dilution method (MIC and MBC) exhibited the antibacterial ability of Ketapang extract against APEC at 5% dose. The Ketapang extract administration in layers exhibited improved performance of chickens infected with APEC, with the administration of 10% dose of Ketapang extract showing the best result. Laying hens (Gallus gallus) are one of the poultries kept for their eggs. Eggs produced by chickens are used as a source of human food that contains a lot of nutrition and is affordable. Eggs also contain high levels of cholesterol in the yolk, so if consumed in large quantities, they will pose a risk of disease. This study aims to determine the effect of giving probiotics in the early layer laying hen feed on the levels of high-density lipoprotein and low-density lipoprotein in egg yolks. This study has four treatments, namely P1 = control, P2 = feed + AGP, and P3 and P4 = feed + probiotics. The probiotic used is a combination of three bacteria, namely Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bifidobacterium sp. The sample used in this study was egg yolk, which was collected in the last week of the study. Testing for HDL and LDL levels in egg yolks was carried out using the Quantitative Colorimetric/Fluorometric Determination of HDL and LDL/VLDL method. Testing HDL and LDL levels in this study showed that the administration of probiotics had an effect in the form of increasing HDL levels but did not have an effect in the form of a significant decrease in egg yolk LDL levels during the four-week treatment period in laying hens in the early layer phase, aged 18-22 weeks. This study aimed to detect the existence and identify, also to determine the prevalence and degree of infection from parasitic helminth in wild gabus fish (Channa striata) at Baduk Fish Market, Nganjuk Regency. In 50 samples of gabus fish, parasitic helminths were examined on the body surface, gills, abdominal cavity, muscles, and digestive tract then identified. Parasitic helminths from digestive tract stained with Semichen Acetic Carmine method. Parasitic helminths that have been identified then calculate the prevalence and degree of infection. The result showed that the parasitic helminths found in gabus fish consist of the genera Pallisentis, Spinitectus, Dactylogyrus, and Gyrodactylus. Pallisentis sp. infect the intestines with 74% prevalence and degree of infection 5,62 parasite each fish. Spinitectus sp. infect the stomach and intestines with 48% prevalence and degree of infection 8 parasite each fish. Dactylogyrus sp. infect the gills with 80% prevalence and degree of infection 1,95 parasite each fish.
