Sotagliflozin, a dual SGLT1/SGLT2 inhibitor, is currently approved in Europe as an adjunct to optimal insulin therapy in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and a body mass index (BMI) =27 kg/m2. In this post hoc analysis, efficacy at 24weeks and safety at 52weeks from pooled phase 3 clinical trials were evaluated in patients with baseline BMI =27 kg/m2. Sotagliflozin 200 and 400 mg added to insulin reduced HbA1c and increased time-in-range by continuous glucose monitoring vs placebo and also reduced body weight and systolic blood pressure. Differences in efficacy endpoints between sotagliflozin and placebo tended to be greater among patients with BMI =27 kg/m2 compared to those with baseline BMI

Summary Aims The study aims to examine real‐world weight change and the role of medication adherence among patients with type 2 diabetes who initiated one of three drug classes: glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonist (GLP‐1RA), dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitor (DPP4) and sulfonylureas (SUs). Materials and methods A cohort of patients initiating one of the three drug classes was selected from a large US database of integrated electronic medical record and administrative claims. Adherence was defined as per cent of days covered ≥80% during the year following drug initiation. Weight change was calculated from drug initiation (−180, +30 d) to 1 year (±90 d) later. Multivariate regression controlled for baseline differences between adherent and poorly adherent patients and the addition of another drug class during follow‐up. Results The study included 833 GLP‐1RA, 2,272 DPP4 and 2,713 SU patients who contributed 2,279, 6,602 and 7,429 observations respectively. A computational theory of consciousness should include a quantitative measure of consciousness, or MoC, that (i) would reveal to what extent a given system is conscious, (ii) would make it possible to compare not only different systems, but also the same system at different times, and (iii) would be graded, because so is consciousness. However, unless its design is properly constrained, such an MoC gives rise to what we call the boundary problem: an MoC that labels a system as conscious will do so for some-perhaps most-of its subsystems, as well as for irrelevantly extended systems (e.g., the original system augmented with physical appendages that contribute nothing to the properties supposedly supporting consciousness), and for aggregates of individually conscious systems (e.g., groups of people). This problem suggests that the properties that are being measured are epiphenomenal to consciousness, or else it implies a bizarre proliferation of minds. We propose that a solution to the boundary problem can be found by identifying properties that are intrinsic or systemic: properties that clearly differentiate between systems whose existence is a matter of fact, as opposed to those whose existence is a matter of interpretation (in the eye of the beholder). We argue that if a putative MoC can be shown to be systemic, this ipso facto resolves any associated boundary issues. Group CBT problems are widely used for assisting teenagers with anxiety, depression and other psychological problems. The majority of reported programs have targets school or clinical populations, however, few have specifically targeted adolescents from highly troubled and disadvantaged backgrounds. This paper describes a group CBT program that was developed for teenagers who have not responded well to the formal structures of schoola nd traditional models of classroom management. Problems such as low levels of motivation, poor attention span, learning difficulties, poor impulse control, substance abuse, and other mental health problems are common within this population. A number of chanllenges arose in running the program and several modifications were made in order to make it more relevant to participants. These changes resulted in more rapid engagement with the program, imporved cooperation within the group, fewer interruptions, and improved rapport. The clinical outcomes associated with the program could not be measured due to difficulties with completing administering self-report questionnaires.

Twenty-five patients who had attended a group cognitive behaviour therapy program for breast cancer patients wereinterviewed by telephone about their experience. Responses were categorised independently and indicated that particants enjoyed the interpersonal and social environment of the group, but also acknowledged the benefits provided by the cognitive behaviour therapy modality of the group. While the majority of groups that are currently run for cancer patients are supportive, it is possible that adding a psycho-educational component may meet the needs of greater number of patients.
