Yenilenebilir enerji kaynakları, sahip olduğu önemli avantajlar nedeniyle tüm dünyada önemli hale gelmektedir. Özellikle küresel ısınma nedeniyle enerji tüketiminde güneş enerjisinin kullanımı ayrı bir değer kazanmıştır. Son yıllarda güneş enerjisinden ısı ve elektrik enerjisi eldesi üzerine yoğun bilimsel araştırmalar yapılmaktadır. Genelde elektrik enerjisi fotovoltaik pillerle elde edilirken, güneş enerjisinden sıcak su eldesi ise güneş kollektörleri yardımıyla sağlanmaktadır. Termoelektrik dönüştürücüler yardımıyla güneş enerjisinden elektrik elde tekniği ise bu alanda yeni bir yöntem olarak ele alınmaktadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada, termoelektrik dönüştürme elemanlarından oluşan bir peltier dizininin kullanımıyla güneş enerjisinden elektrik enerjisinin elde edilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Parabolik bir yansıtıcının kullanımıyla gelen güneş ışınları yansıtılarak soğurulmuş ve ısı enerjisine dönüştürülmüştür. Isıtma işlemi bu yöntemle sağlanırken, soğutma işleminde ise akışkan olarak su ve hava kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak termoelektrik dönüştürücüler yardımıyla güneş enerjisinden beklenen elektrik enerjisi elde edilmiştir., The renewable energy sources have become significant all over the world because of their advantages. Particularly, use of solar energy in the energy consumption has gained a different significance because of global warming effect. In recent years many intensive scientific researches have been done for obtaining of thermal and electrical energies from solar energy. While thermal energy is obtained by solar collectors, electrical energy has been obtained by means of photovoltaic solar cells in general. Getting electricity technique from solar energy with the help of thermoelectric converters (TECs) has been concerned as a new way. In this work, to get electricity was aimed by using the thermoelectric converters, which is a peltier array. The incident sun rays reflected by means of a parabolic reflector were absorbed using a parabolic reflector and they were converted to heat energy. While the heating process was obtained by this technique, as a fluid water and air was used in the cooling process. In conclusion, the expected electrical energy was generated from solar energy by means of thermoelectrical converters.

Temperature effect is one of the most significant factors on the operation of solar cells. A polycrystal Si solar cell was utilized in the experiment. The solar cell was illuminated by the constant light flux and typical electrical values were obtained. It was later cooled by the thermoelectric cooler system and the experimental values were obtained. The behaviour of the solar cell at two different temperatures (T=15°C) was examined and the cooling effect on the performance of the solar cell was determined in terms of Voc.

Gases occurred at the end of combustion based on fossil fuels are thrown by means of chimney through the atmosphere because of negative pressure. The height of chimneys and temperature of the combusting gases seem as significant parameters in the case of thrown gases. Recovery heat energy thrown from the chimneys is aimed using the Method of Thermoelectric Converter (TEC) in terms of electrical energy in this work. For this purpose, a model based on a thermoelectric converting system was thought and a related prototype was developed. In the model, the energy converting system was mounted just on the chimney in order not to affect flow of the gases. It was concerned that the energy thrown from the chimney as a lost energy would be recovered by a converting system in terms of electrical energy in some quantity. The experimental data based on the prototype was obtained related to the waste energy recovery.

He-Cd LASER KAYNA?I KULLANARAK II-VI BİLEŞENLERİNDEN BULK VE KOLLOİD HALDEKİ BAZI YARIİLETKEN MALZEMELERİN FARKLI SICAKLIKLARDAKİ FOTOLÜMİNESANS YAYINIMLARININ İNCELENMESİ ÖZET Anahtar Kelimeler: Yarıiletken Kristaller, Kolloidal Yarıiletkenler, Fotolüminesans II. ve VI. grup elementlerinden elde edilen II-VI yarıiletken bileşikler hakkında günümüzde önemli çalışmalar bulunmaktadır. Optik ve elektriksel özellikleri açısından elektronik endüstrisinde özellikle fotoelektrik, fotovoltaik ve optoelektronikle ilgili alanlarda geniş ölçüde kullanılan bu bileşenler, nükleer mühendislik uygulamalarında da IV. grup yarıiletken malzemelerden germanyuma karşı üstünlük kazanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, bulk haldeki CdS, ZnS:Li, ZnS:Ga, ZnS:Cu, ZnS:Al-Cu yarıiletken numuneler, buhar fazı kristal büyüme tekniği ve kolloidal CdS çözeltisi Su/AOT/Heptan yöntemiyle üretilmiştir. Bu yarıiletken malzemelerin fotolüminesans yayınımlarını belirlemek amacıyla düşük sıcaklık kristatı, faz detektörü, optik kesici, optik filitre, bilgisayar kontrollü ve kırınım ağı tabanlı spektroskopi, fotoçoğaltıcı tüp ve He-Cd laser kaynağı kullanılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda; bulk haldeki yarıiletken malzemelerin sıcaklığa bağlı fotolüminesans yayınımları elde edilmiş ve yayınım spektrumlan incelenmiştir. Deney sonucunda sıcaklık değişiminin yarıiletken malzemelerin lüminesans yaynım şiddetinde önemli değişmelere neden olduğu gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca kolloidal CdS çözeltisinin sıvı helyum sıcaklığından oda sıcaklığına kadar farklı sıcaklıklardaki fotolüminesans yayınımları elde edilerek, çözeltinin lüminesans band şiddetlerinde sıcaklığa bağlı önemli değişmeler olduğu görülmüştür. There have been recent studies of II-VI semiconductor compounds which are produced by II. and VI. group elements. These compounds are being widely used in electronic industry today especially in photoelectric, photovoltaic and optoelectronic areas because of their optical and electrical properties and also in nuclear engineering they are becoming more preferable than germanium from group IV elements. II-VI compounds are cheaper and can be obtained by easier methods than by elemental semiconductors and the study of them have gained more prominence and speed with the introduction of laser and computer technologies into this field. Bulk and quantum-sized semiconductor materials which are made of of II-VI compounds have become one of the most important research subjects in solid state electronics. In this study, bulk semiconductor samples of CdS, ZnSe.Li, ZnS:Li, ZnS:Ga, ZnS:Cu, ZnS:Al-Cu and colloidal CdS solution have been obtained with the use of describe photoluminescence emission of these semiconductor samples, low temperature crystat, phase sensitive detectors, chopper, filter and computer-controlled and grating-based spectrometer, photomultiplier tube and He-Cd laser source have been utilized. At the end of the experiments it was observed that temperaure variations caused considerable changes in the intensity of luminescence emissions of semiconductor materials. Besides, photoluminescence emissions of colloidal CdS solution at different temperatures from liquid helium temperature to room temperature were obtained and significant changes of band intensities of photoluminescence emissions of the solution with respect to temperature were observed. Taktik Veri Link Sistemleri (TVLS) savaş alanında hava, kara ve deniz birimleri arasında yakın gerçek zamanlı taktik bilgi değişimini sağlayan sistemlerdir. Tactical Data Link Systems (TDLSs) provide a tactical information exchange between air, ground and naval units near real time in the battlefield area. Combat platforms have many different TDL capabilities such as Link-11, Link-16, Link-22, VMF and JREAP. Every TDL has different characteristics. The main problem is to decide which TDL is more effective in terms of transmission of data to another platform. In this thesis, a detailed literature survey about TDL systems has been carried out. This knowledge is presented in Chapter 1. The optimization theory is briefly mentioned in Chapter 2. In Chapter 3, an optimization is made with regard to the transmission of data in the operational area. Bu tez çalışmasında, yeni bir yöntem olarak çift yüzeyli, yansıtmalı fotovoltaik bir sistemin tasarımı ve geliştirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu hedef doğrultusunda, tez çalışması tasarım, geliştirme ve performans ölçümleri olarak üç temel aşamada tamamlanmıştır.Tezin ilk aşaması olarak çift yüzeyli güneş panel sisteminin tasarımı tamamlanmıştır. Tasarımda tek eksenli bir güneş izleme sistemi, arka panel için bir yansıtıcı sistem, sırt sırta yerleştirilen iki güneş paneli ve uygun platformlar planlanmıştır.Geliştirme aşamasında arka yüzeydeki güneş panelini aydınlatmak için optoelektronik olarak kontrol edilen iki adet kendi ekseni etrafında dönebilen reflektör kullanılmıştır. Böylece ön ve arka yüzeydeki güneş panellerine eşit miktarda ışık akısı düşecek şekilde sistem optimize edilmiştir. Çalışma performansını artırmak için optoelektronik temelli, tek eksenli güneş izleyicisi yardımıyla sistem desteklenmiştir.Geliştirilen sistemin laboratuvar şartlarında ve açık alanda gerçek zamanlı olarak ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, uygun açısal şartlarda arka güneş panelinin yeterli miktarda elektrik ürettiğini ve sistemin çalıştığını göstermektedir. Prototip olarak geliştirilen çift yüzeyli sistemin endüstriyel alandaki uygulamalarda kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. In this thesis study, as a new method, design and development of a double surface photovoltaic system with reflection property was aimed. In the direction of this purpose, the thesis study was completed within three stages as design, development, and performance measurements.The double surface panel system was designed completely as the first stage of the thesis study. A single axis sun tracking system, a reflector system for the back panel, two solar panels placed back to back, and suitable platforms were planned.In the development stage, two opto-electronically controlled reflectors with the ability to rotate around their own axes were used to illuminate the back solar panel. Thus, the system was optimized in the way that equal amount of light fluxes irradiates the front and back panels. The system was supported by the optoelectronic based single axis sun tracker to increase working performance.Measurements of the developed system were done in laboratory settings and on open field as real time. The results showed that the back solar panel produces sufficient amount of electricity and the system works under proper angular conditions.It is concluded that the system developed as a prototype might be used in industrial applications. 133

Son zamanlarda elektrik enerjisinin maliyetindeki artışlar alternatif enerji seçeneklerini daha cazip hale getirmiştir. Solar paneller, güneşten absorbe ettiği foton enerjisini tüketiciler tarafından kullanılan doğru akım elektrik enerjisine dönüştürebilme özelliğine sahiptir. Bununla beraber bu elde edilen enerjinin kullanılması problem oluşturmaktadır. Şebekeden kullandığımız elektrik enerjisi ile evde kullanılan birçok cihazın doğru şekilde çalışabilmesi alternatif akım enerjisine dayanmaktadır. Bu nedenle solar panellerden veya rüzgâr türbinlerinden elde edilen doğru akım enerjisi faydalı olabilmesi için alternatif akım enerjisine çevrilmelidir. Bu çevrim işlemini evirici (Inverter) adı verilen cihazlar yaparlar. Eviriciler sanayide geniş bir yelpazede kullanım alanı bulan güç elektroniği dönüştürücüleridir. Eviricinin çıkışında üretilen alternatif sinyalin gerilim ve frekans değerleri, devrenin yapısına, transformatörlere ve kullanılan elemanlara bağlı olarak değişiklik gösterir. Bu tezde tek fazlı güç eviricilerinin çıkış dalga formlarına göre karşılaştırmalı olarak analizi yapılmıştır. Kare dalga, modifiye kare ve saf sinüs dalga eviricileri Proteus Professional programı kullanılarak tasarlanıp benzetimi elde edilmiştir. Analiz yapılırken devre yapıları, çıkış voltajındaki harmonik bozulmalar ve verimlilik dikkate alınmıştır. Yapılan simülasyonlardan sonra eviriciler PCB karta basılmıştır. Verimlilik hesabı Extech marka doğru RMS dijital multimetre yardımı ile hesaplanmış, harmonik hesabı ise Fluke 435 marka güç analizörü kullanılarak ölçülmüştür. Yapılan benzetim ve deney sonuçlarına göre kare dalga evirici devresinin %55 civarında harmonik bozulma ve %45 verimliliğe sahip olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Modifiye kare dalga evirici devresi ise %38 harmonik bozulma ve %60 verimle kare dalga evirici devresinin önünde yer almaktadır. Saf sinüs evirici devresi ise %10 civarında harmonik bozulma ve %75'in üzerinde verimliliğinden dolayı diğer evirici devrelere kıyasla öne çıkmaktadır. Her bir evirici devresi için rezistif ve indüktif yükler altında yapılan testler Tektronix marka dijital osiloskop yardımıyla gözlemlenmiş ve test sonuçları ile simülasyon sonuçlarının birbirleriyle örtüştüğü görülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre saf sinüs evirici devresinin daha yüksek maliyet ve daha karmaşık devre yapısı olmasına rağmen kare dalga ve modifiye kare dalga evirici devrelerine göre daha iyi ve verimli olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Recent rises in electrical energy costs have done alternative energy options more attractive. A device such as solar panel is able to convert photons from the sun into the DC (Direct Current) electric which can be used by the end users. However, there is a problem by using this kind of energy. Our electric grid and most of the house appliances are based on the AC (Alternating Current) electric so the energy achieved by the sun or wind power needs to be converted from DC to AC to be useful. This converting process is done by an electronic device called inverter. Inverters can be found in a wide area of power electronics in the industry. The produced output voltage and frequency at the AC side of an inverter depend on the circuit structure, transformers and applied components. In this thesis, comparative analysis of single phase power inverters regarding their output waveforms was performed. Square wave, modified square wave and true sine wave inverter circuits were designed and analyzed using Proteus Professional package program. This comparison was fulfilled with respect to the circuit configuration, THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and output efficiency. After simulation results these inverter circuits were realized on PCB (Printed Circuit Board) circuits. Efficiency of the inverters was calculated using Extech true RMS digital multimeter and THD values were measured by means of the Fluke 435 Power Analyzer device. According to the simulation and experimental results, the analyzed square wave inverter circuit has about 55% THD and 45% efficiency due to the circuit structure. The analyzed modified square wave inverter circuit has about 38% THD and 60% efficiency better than square wave inverter. The analyzed true sine wave inverter circuit having with about 10% THD and an efficiency of 75% has the most ideal output signal among the inverter types. Tests on resistive and inductive loads were carried out under laboratory conditions and output signals were observed with the help of Tektronix digital storage oscilloscope. Test results and simulation outcomes were confirmed to each other. It was found out that true sine wave inverter circuit is better and more efficient in many aspects compared to the modified and square wave inverter circuits in spite of their complicated structures and higher costs. 82

Serbest Ortam Optiksel Haberleşme Sistemleri; yüksek veri hızı, geniş bant genişliği kapasitesi, küçük boyut ve hafiflik, düşük güç tüketimi, yüksek güvenlik ve girişime karşı dirençli olma gibi özelliklerinden dolayı radyo frekanslı haberleşme sistemlerine alternatif sistemlerdir. Dünya yörüngesinde, çok sayıda insan yapımı uydu bulunmakta ve bu uyduların birbirleriyle haberleşmelerinde geleneksel radyo frekanslı haberleşme teknikleri kullanılmaktadır. Lazer haberleşmesi ile veri birkaç Gb/s hızında binlerce kilometre uzaklığa gönderilebilmektedir. Bu yetenek, optiksel kablosuz haberleşme teknolojisinin uzay teknolojisine adapte olmasını sağlamış ve böylece uydulararası optiksel kablosuz haberleşme sistemleri gelişmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasında, serbest ortam optiksel haberleşme sistemleri ile ilgili detaylı literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Lazer sistemlerinin serbest ortam haberleşmesindeki önemi ve uydulararası haberleşmede lezer tekniğinin kullanılma durumu incelenmiştir. Lazer haberleşme sistemlerindeki; lazer kaynağı, foto dedektör, modülasyon tipi, anten gibi temel bileşenlerin fonksiyonları incelenmiştir. Optiwave yazılımı kullanılarak değişik link konfigürasyonlarına göre uydulararası haberleşme linki modellenmiş ve simüle edilmiştir. Sistem performansı (BER/Q faktör); verici gücü, dalga boyu, veri hızı, mesafe, anten çapı gibi temel parametrelere göre en düşük BER değerini elde etmek amacıyla analiz edilmiştir. Aynı sistem konfigürasyonunda APD ve PIN tipi fotodiyot kullanılarak karşılaştırmaları yapılmıştır. Ayrıca uydulararası haberleşme linkinde erbium katkılı fiber yükselteç (EDFA) kullanılarak link kalitesine etkisi incelenmiştir. Free Space Optical (FSO) Communication Systems are alternatives to Radio Frequency (RF) communication systems due to the high data rate, high bandwidth capacity, smaller size, and weight, less power consumption, high security, resistance to interference etc. There are many manufactured satellites orbiting around the earth and RF technique, which is a conventional communication method for satellite systems, is used in order for them to communicate with each other. It is possible to send several Gbps data to thousands kilometers distances with laser communication. This is done by means of adopting optical wireless communication technology into space technology; hence, intersatellite optical wireless communication is developed. In this thesis, detailed literature survey about free space optical communication system has been done. The importance of laser systems for free-space communication has been discussed and the status of laser techniques for intersatellite communication has been examined. The functions of the each basic component such as laser source, photodetector, modulation type, telescope used in a typical system have been examined. The intersatellite link has been modeled and simulated by means of Optiwave Software for the various link configurations and the system performance (BER/Q-Factor) has also been analyzed in terms of each basic parameter such as transmitted power, wavelength, data rate, range and telescope diameter in order to achieve minimum BER. APD type and PIN type photodetector comparison has been performed. Moreover, Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) has been used for the intersatellite link to recognize its effect on the link quality. It has been shown that communication performance of the system can be improved by choosing the most appropriate component in terms of communication requirements. Uzaktan eğitim, tarihi oldukça eskilere dayanmasına rağmen teknolojik yetersizlikler nedeniyle atılım yapamamıştır. Ancak; son 20 yıl içerisinde bilişim teknolojilerinin ilerlemesi ve bilgisayar ve internetin kullanım oranlarının artmasıyla bir evrim geçirmiştir. Bu evrim web tabanlı uzaktan eğitim (WTUE) ya da çevrimiçi eğitim olarak adlandırılmaktadır. WTUE'nin gerçekleştirilmesi için bu amaça göre hazırlanmış yazılımlara ihtiyaç vardır. Bu yazılımlar Öğrenme Yönetim Sistemi (ÖYS) olarak adlandırılmaktadır. ÖYS'ler ile kurumsal bir çatı altında ders materyallerinin hazırlanması, öğrencilere sunulması, ders etkinliklerinin yapılması ve yapılan tüm işlemlerin kayıt altında tutulması gerçekleştirilmektedir. Mevcut ÖYS yazılımlarındaki birtakım eksiklikler ve kullanım zorluklarından dolayı; diğer yazılımlara da öncülük edecek yeni bir ÖYS yazılımına ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır.Bu çalışmada; yeni bir öğrenme yönetim sistemi tasarımı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öncelikle mevcut sistemler irdelenerek yeterli ve eksik yönleri belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra ÖYS'nin kodlaması için uygun platform araştırılmış ve Microsoft firmasının ASP.Net programlama dili ile Mssql veri tabanı seçilmiştir. İlişkisel veri tabanı modeli kullanılarak sistemdeki tablolar oluşturulmuş daha sonra modüler ve nesneye yönelik programlama'nın özellikleri kullanılarak kodlama yapılmıştır. Bu sayede ortaya diğer sistemlerde bulunmayan özelliklere sahip özgün bir ÖYS yazılımı gerçekleştirilmiş ve uygulanmıştır. Özellikle; uzaktan eğitimin en önemli bölümünü oluşturan; ders içeriklerinin hazırlanması ve öğrencilere sunulması işlemleri için yeni standartlar getirilmiştir. Böylece; öğrenme süreci tek yönlü (öğretim elemanı-öğrenci) olmaktan çok yönlü ( öğretim elemanı-öğrenci, öğrenci-öğrenci, öğrenci-öğretim elemanı) bir sürece dönüştürülmüştür. Bunun gerçekleştirilmesi için ders içerikleri sunucuda veri tabanında saklanmıştır. Bu sayede içerikler istemci bilgisayara gönderilmeden önce sunucu tarafında tekrar işlenmektedir.ÖYS dünyasına tamamen etkileşimli bir program kazandırılmıştır. Ders içeriklerinin içerisine entegre forum yapısı eklenmiştir; ders içerik ekranı tüm ders etkinliklerini içerisinde barındıran kullanıcı dostu bir yapıya dönüştürülmüştür; öğretim elemanı öğrencileri farklı sayfalara göndermeden içeriğe gömülü soru-cevap etkinliğini kullanabilmektedir; öğretim elemanının içeriğine öğrenci sunucu tarafından otomatik gönderilen anket ile değerlendirme yapabilmektedir; öğrenci dersi izlerken anlamakta zorlandığı konuları anında arkadaşlarına sorabilmektedir; kendisiyle birlikte aynı anda ders çalışan arkadaşlarıyla sohbet edebilmektedir.Sonuç olarak; ÖYS dünyasına daha etkin, öğrenci merkezli, çok yönlü ve diğer ÖYS'lere örnek teşkil edebilecek bir sistem kazandırılmıştır. Although the history of distance education goes far back, it has not made a stride due to technological deficiencies. However, with the introduction and development of computer and internet technologies in the 20th century, the face of distance education has experienced a big transformation. This transformation is called as web-based distance education (WBDE) or online education. These softwares are called Learning Management Systems (LMS). LMS?s enable us to prepare course materials under a corporate roof, to present them to the students, to perform the course activities and to record all the transactions. New LMS software needs to be prepared as there are some deficiencies and problems in the existing ones.In this study, a new Learning Management System has been designed. First of all, the existing systems were examined to see the inadequate and adequate sides. Afterwards an appropriate platform was searched and Microsoft?s ASP.Net programming language and Mssql database were chosen. The Hierarchical Database Model was used to form the tables in the system and then modular and object-oriented programming was used to code. By this means unique LMS software, which has specific features, was designed and applied.New standarts have been put forward to prepare curriculum for distance education and make it accessible for students. Thus, the learning process has become multi-based (teacher-student, student-student, student-teacher) rather than single-based (teacher-student). For this purpose, the course contents are saved in the database so that they are processed once more before being sent to the client computer.This study introduces a new fully interactive LMS. An integrated forum structure is included in the course contents. The course content screen is a user-friendly one in which all the class activities are included. The teacher is able to use the question-answer technique embedded into the content without having to send the students to different web pages. The student can make an evaluation by means of the survey sent automatically by the server; the student can consult with friends about the complicated subjects while following the course and can have conversation with the friends having the course all at once.In conclusion we have brought a more effective, student centered, multi-functional system which could be a model for other Learning Management Systems. 134

Bu durum, genellikle lazer ile kuplaj yapılan mercek, fiber optik kablo veya bir disk yüzeyi gibi yansıtıcı özelliğe sahip optik elemanlardan kaynaklı geri yansımalarla kendini göstermekte ve etkileri sistem performansını düşürmektedir. Bununla birlikte, kullanılan lazerin eşfazlı mesafesi içerisindeki bir yansıtıcının, mesafesi ve oluşan geri yansımaların şiddeti belirlenmiş sınırlar içerisinde kalacak şekilde kontrol edilmesi durumunda, yer değişim miktarı veya yansıtıcının mesafesi lazer dalgaboyunun yarısı hassasiyetinde ölçülebilmektedir. A laser beam is back reflected from a reflector and re-enter inside the laser active region makes a interference with standing wave that causes a variation on intensity and spectral properties of the laser?s output. Generally, this phenomenon appears with back reflections from optical materials (lens, optical fiber, disk surface,etc.) coupled to laser source and the system performance is degraded because of the optical feedback effects. However, if the outside target?s distance from the laser is smaller than the laser coherent length, this type optical feedback can be used as displacement and distance measurement with half of the laser wavelength resolution when back reflection intensity and distance target are in defined limits. In the studies, laser diodes are much more used than other laser types because of the large LEF (linewidth enhancement factor). LEF determines the level of the optical feedback sensitivity. Nowadays, the measurement resolution is increased under 100nm with developing signal processing algorithm and usage of the method in commercial product spread out from measurement devices to handphones, computer mouses and keyboards.This thesis includes theorical analysis of the spectral variation and output power fluactuations of a single mode laser diode that exposed to weak optical feedback with laser rate equations based on Lang-Kobayashi model, behaviour of the laser diode with optical feedback simulations in MATLAB, basic methods of the displacement, velocity and distance measurement, comparision of the different type laser diodes according to optical feedback signal quality , de-noising of the optical feedback signal and devoloping a signal processing algortihm covering phase unwrapping and optimisation for increasing the measurement resolution under 100nm and it?s simulations in MATLAB.

It is one of the common problems to identify the objects on earth using satellite images. Airports are such places where aircrafts are parked and deployed. Especially for the military applications, to identify the objects in target areas and counting of aircrafts remotely and undercoverly gives effective results in terms of making right strategiesTherefore our goal is to obtain useful information from airport and fly zone images where we can find aircrafts in.In this paper we performed identifying of aircrafts from airport images taken from a specific altitude. For this purpose a frame has been masked over input data. Each zone has been masked is considered as it contains an aircraft.Gabor filter is used to refine the features of aircraft and extract the feature vector. Feature data?s acquired were classified using SVM classification to identify the aircraft on image.We used satellite images from airports derived from Google Earth? application.

Güneş enerjisi elektrik enerjisine genellikle fotovoltaik pillerle dönüştürülürken, güneş enerjisinden ısı enerjisi üretiminde ise güneş kollektörleri kullanılmaktadır. Termoelektrik modül olarak da bilinen termoelektrik dönüştürücüler, yüzeyleri arasındaki sıcaklık farkı oluşturulduğunda elektrik enerjisi üreten yarı iletken kökenli malzemelerdir. Termoelektrik dönüştürücüler yardımıyla güneş enerjisinden elektrik enerjisi elde etme tekniği bu alanda yeni bir yöntem olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışmada termoelektrik dönüştürücü kullanılarak, güneş pillerine bir alternatif olarak, güneş ışınlarının ısıtma etkisinden faydalanmak suretiyle güneş enerjisinden elektrik enerjisi elde edilmiştir. In recent years, intensive scientific researches have been done on the generating electricity and producing heat energy from solar energy. In general, while electrical energy has been generated by photovoltaic cells, heat energy has been obtained by means of solar collectors from the solar energy. Thermoelectric converters known also as thermoelectric moduls which was made of semiconductor materials, generate electricity when the temperature differences are applied between their surfaces. The technique of generating electricity from solar energy via thermoelectric converters has been concerned as a novel method. In this study, electricity has been obtained using the thermoelectric converters as an alternative to solar cells. With the help of a cylindiric parabolic reflector, incoming solar radiation has been absorbed and converted to heat energy. Bu tez çalışmasında, antenden yayınlanan elektromanyetik dalga desenin bilgisayar yardımıyla modellenerek tekrarlı analizlerin tek ölçü alınarak yapılması amaçlanmıştır. TRT vericilerinin antenlerinden yayınlanan elektromanyetik dalgaların alan şiddeti ölçüleri dBµV olarak alınmıştır. Bu ölçüler Excel ortamına alınarak MAPInfo bilgisayar programından çekilecek şekilde düzenlenmiştir. Daha sonra ölçüm yapılan noktaların coğrafi koordinatları arazi modeli üzerine konulmuştur. Veri olarak alınan alan şiddeti değerleri ile arazi üzerine konumlandırılmış olan ölçüm noktaları program tarafından birleştirilerek, çıktı önce tematik harita haline getirilmiş ve sonra da üç boyutlu olarak düzenlenmiştir. Yapılan bu çalışma neticesinde TRT vericilerinin yayınladığı elektromanyetik dalgaların bilgisayar ortamında bir modeli elde edilmiştir. Bu model sayesinde ölçülerin iyi planlanarak alınması ve daha önce yapıldığı gibi her arızada araziye çıkıp ölçü alınmasının önüne geçilmiştir. It is quite important to visualize electromagnetic waves emitted from antenna to free space in order to study electromagnetic waves. This thesis mainly focuses on doing repeated analyses by a single measurement by modeling electromagnetic wave pattern with a computer. The field strength measurements emitted from TRT transmitters are taken in dB?V. These data are taken into Microsoft Excel environment and then they are arranged in such a way that they can be processed by MAPInfo commercial computer program. Thereafter, geographical coordinates of the points on which measurements are made are placed on terrain model. By means of merging field strength values collected as data and measurement points placed on terrain model by the program, output is converted into thematic map, and then arranged in three dimensional space. A model of electromagnetic waves emitted by TRT transmitters are obtained in computer medium as a result of this study. Measurements are made in a well planned manner with this model. It is avoided that measurements are made in terrain in case of each failure, because it is ensured that the measurements, which are taken only once, can be used in the future.

Dr. Şerafettin ERELHaziran 2005, 103 sayfaBu tez çalışmasında, tek serbestlik dereceli mekanik jiroskopların(TSDMJ) çıkış voltajı ve çıkış hassasiyeti, çok farklı mühendislikproblemlerinin çözümünde yaygın bir şekilde kullanılan yapay sinir ağları(YSA) ile yüksek bir doğrulukla belirlenmiştir. YSA, ivmeölçer ve TSDMJ'lerinkullanıldığı ataletsel seyrüsefer sistemi ile ilgili bilgiler verildikten sonra,jiroskop çeşitleri ve özellikle tez çalışmasında kullanılan TSDMJ'nin yapısıaçıklanmıştır. Uygulama kısmında, YSA için kullanılacak eğitim ve testverilerini elde etmek maksadıyla, jiroskop test düzeneği ile 601'er adet saatyönünde (clock wise, CW) ve saat yönünün tersinde (counter clock wise,CCW) 0 0/s'den 60 0/s'e kadar 0.1 0/s aralıklarla toplam 1202 adet çıkış voltajıölçümleri yapılmıştır. Elde edilen çıkış voltajlarına göre CW ve CCW için çıkışihassasiyeti değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Bu CW ve CCW yönlerindeki her bir601'er ölçümün 596 adeti YSA'yı eğitmek için kullanılırken kalan 5 adetieğitilen bu ağın doğruluğunu göstermek amacıyla test için kullanılmıştır.Yapılan uygulamalarda, sırasıyla, TSDMJ'nin giriş bilgisi olarak dönü oranı,çıkış bilgisi olarak ise çıkış voltajı ve çıkış hassasiyeti parametrelerialınmıştır. YSA modeli olarak ileri beslemeli geri yayılımlı (feed forward backpropagation) ağ modeli seçilmiştir. TSDMJ çıkış voltajı, çıkış hassasiyetiparametrelerine göre CW ve CCW yönlerinde tek giriş iki çıkışa sahip benzermodeller elde edilmiştir. Uygulamada, eğitilen YSA'ya farklı girişler tekraruygulanarak, ağdan elde edilen çıkışların gerçek değerler ilekarşılaştırıldığında YSA'nın ürettiği çıkışların doğruluk oranının oldukçayüksek olduğu gösterilmiştir. The kinds and structure of SDOF mechanicgyroscope used in this thesis were explained after the information aboutinertial navigation system, in which ANN, accelerometer and SDOF mechanicgyroscopes were used, was given. In the implementation section, to obtainthe train and test data for ANN, total 1202 output voltage, (half of them wasCounter Clock Wise(CCW), the other half was Clock Wise(CW)) from 0 0/s to60 0/s with 0.1 0/s intervals were carried out. The output sensitivity wascalculated for CW and CCW depending on the obtained output voltages.Different ANN models were developed for CW and CCW. For each of 601imeasurements, 596 of them were used to train ANN s while other 5measurements were used to test the accuracy of this network. During theimplementation, the parameters of setting/rate were used as the input datawhereas output voltage and sensitivity parameters were used as the outputdata. Similar CW and CCW one input and two output models were obtainedaccording to the parameters of mechanic gyroscopes. Feed-forward back-propagation network model was chosen as the ANN model. Different inputswere applied to ANN and it was observed that the accuracy rate of outputsproduced by ANN was high when compared to the real values. The aim ofusing ANN in the calculating the parameters of the output voltage andsensitivity of SDOF mechanic gyroscopes is that high accurate outputs wereobtained by training the degrees of defined setting/rate interval (between 0-600/s) in the matlab programme so that the results of SDOF mechanicgyroscopes can be compared to other SDOF mechanic gyroscopes. Yapay sinir ağları hakkında genel bir bilgi verilmiş, yapay sinir ağlı kontrolörler kullanılarak tek bölgeli bir sistemde yük- frekans kontrolü yapılmış, kontrol sonucu bulunan simülasyonlar gösterilmiştir. Bulunan sonuçlar Pl kontrolörün sonucu ile karşılaştırılmış ve yapay sinir ağlı kontrolörlerin Pl kontrolöre göre daha iyi sonuç verdiği görülmüştür. First, the modelling of power systems are examined than the power systems of one and two-areas are investigated. Load-frequency control for the power systems of one and two areas are investigated. A general informations about artificial Neural Networks is given and the load-frequency control of one area system is performed on PC by using artificial Neural Networks and finally simulations taken after the controller are shown. Sonuç olarak, elektrik ve hidro sistem modelleri birleştirilip PID kontrolör ile yük frekans kontrolünün simülasyonu yapılmıştır. In this study, the knowledge about generator, load and power system models is given and then hydro system model is presented. Finally, after combining electric and hydro system models by using PID controller, load-frequency control simulation is completed. Matlab 6.5.0 - Simulink software program is used for simulation. Kristalin bir yüzünü tümüyle omik kontak yapabilmek için, Al (% 99.99 saflıkta) metali 10"6 torr basınç altında buharlaştırıldı. Çalışmanın amacınauygun olarak kristal sekiz parçaya bölündü. Buradan belli periyotlarla (hemen (PbD1), bir gün (PbD2), beş gün (PbD3), 10 gün (PbD4), 15 gün (PbD5), 30 gün (PbD6), 45 gün (PbD7) ve 60 gün (PbD8) sonra) doğrultucu kontak yapabilmek için, 10"6 torr basınçta Pb (% 99.99 saflıkta) metali buharlaştırıldı. Böylece sekiz farklı Schottky engel diyodu elde edildi. Havaya maruz kalmanın ve yaşlanmanın etkisini inceleyebilmek için, Al/p- Si/Pb Schottky diyotlarının, oda sıcaklığında (T=300 K), belli periyotlarda (Hemen, 15 Gün, 30 Gün, 45 Gün ve 60 Gün Sonra) l-V ve 1 MHz' deki C-V ölçümleri alındı ve karakteristikleri çizildi, n idealite faktörleri ve Ob engel yükseklikleri sırasıyla yarılog-doğru besleme l-V grafiklerinin lineer kısımlarının eğimlerinden ve y-eksenini kesen noktalarından bulundu. Buna ek olarak, seri direnç değerleri, idealite faktörleri ve etkin engel yükseklikleri doğru besleme l-V karakteristiklerinden elde edilen Cheung fonksiyonları kullanılarak hesaplandı. C"2-V ölçümlerinden Vd difüzyon potansiyeli, Ob engel yüksekliği ve NA alıcı yoğunlukları elde edildi. Bu sonuçlar ve l-V ölçümleri kullanılarak Nss ara yüzey durum yoğunlukları hesaplandı. Prof. Dr. Şerafettin EREL December 2002, 115 pages In this thesis, the effects of exposure-time to the room air and aging of Pb/p-Si/AI, metal (rectifying) /p-type semiconductor/metal (ohmic), Schottky diodes made of p-type silicon have been investigated using the measurements obtained from l-V and C-V graphs by exposing them to the room air in the laboratory medium. The previously polished p-type Si wafer used for the Pb/p-Si Schottky diodes was about 300 (.im thickness B-doped layer with 2-5 Q-cm resistivity in the direction of [100]. In order to deposit ohmic contact through a face of crystal, Al (%99.99) metal was evaporated under the 10"6 torr pressure. Crystal was divided into in -&\eight pieces for the purpose of study. To deposit rectifying contact for the ordered periods (immediately (PbD1), one day (PbD2), five days (PbD3), 10 days (PbD4), 15 days (PbD5), 30 days (PbD6), 45 days (PbD7) and 60 days (PbD8) after), Pb (%99.99) metal was evaporated under the 10"6 torr pressure. Thus, we obtained eight different Schottky barrier diodes. In order to investigate the effects of exposure-time to the room air and aging at the room temperature (T=300 K ), for the ordered periods (immediately, 15 days, 30 days, 45 days and 60 days after) l-V measurements have been done and its characteristics have been plotted, n ideality factors and ®b barrier height values have been obtained from the slopes of linear parts of the characteristics of semilog-forward bias l-V plots and linear parts intercepting the y-axis, respectively. Besides, serial resistance, ideality factors and effective barrier heights were calculated using Cheung functions obtained from forward bias l-V characteristics. Vd diffusion voltage, Ob barrier height and Na acceptor density have been obtained from C"2-V measurements. Nss, density of interface states calculated from these results and l-V measurements. The effects of exposure-time to air and aging have been determined from l-V and C-V measurement. These values are in good agreement with those of literature. YÖK Tez ID: 85296 ÖZET Yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarından elektrik enerjisinin üretimi son yılların en önemli araştırma konularından birisi olmuştur. Özellikle fotovoltaik pillerden dinamik yöntemle elektrik enerjisinin elde edilmesi ayrı bir önem kazanmaktadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada fotovoltaik pillerin çalışmasını ışık akısından maksimum düzeyde yararlanabilmek için güneş izleme sistemine dayalı dinamik bir sistem tasarlanarak geliştirilmiş ve sistftmin aynı boyutlarda fakat statik yapıda bulunan güneş piline göre avantajları belirlenerek modüler yapılara uygulanabilirliği incelenmiştir. VI ABSTRACT Generation of electrical energy from renewable energy sources have recently been one of the most significant research subjects. Particularly, generation of electrical energy obtained from photovoltaic cells by means of dynamic system have different significance. In this work in order to get benefit at maximum level from incident light flux which affects the operation of photovoltaic cells a dynamic system based on a solar tracer has been designed and constructed. Comparing to static system which has identical dimensions of photovoltaic cells, superiority of the dynamics system to the static system has been identified and applicability of the system to modular system has been concerned.
