3. Carbon Dioxide Emission Evaluations in the Chinese Furniture Manufacturing Industry Using the IPCC Tier-2 Methodology

Abstract

Estimating industrial carbon dioxide emissions at the national scale is crucial for China's carbon peak and carbon neutralization targets, as well as the low-carbon development of the Chinese furniture manufacturing industry. For this purpose, in this study the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Tier-2 methodology was used to evaluate the carbon dioxide emissions of the Chinese furniture manufacturing industry at the national scale. The results show that carbon dioxide emissions increased from 219.50 x 10,000 tons of C[O.sub.2] equivalent in 2000 to 850.68 x 10,000 tons of C[O.sub.2] equivalent in 2019. Moreover, carbon dioxide emission intensity decreased from 9.50 tons of C[O.sub.2] per million dollars to 1.73 tons of C[O.sub.2] per million dollars in this period. Moreover, electricity and raw coal were observed to have a significant influence on carbon dioxide emissions, followed by diesel oil, gasoline, heat energy, and natural gas. The results reveal that the Chinese furniture manufacturing industry has generally realized low-carbon development over the past two decades. This work proposes several suggestions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the Chinese furniture manufacturing industry, including promoting the use of clean electricity, the installation of photovoltaic cells, industrial transformation and upgrading, the optimization of transport modes for product delivery and material supply, and the employment of low-carbon raw materials., Global warming, caused by carbon dioxide emissions, is a serious problem and has triggered great motivation for reducing carbon emissions (Chen et al. 2020). 4. Modular and Regioselective Synthesis of Benzo-Fused Five-Membered Rings Enabled by Co/Ti Synergism

Abstract

The regiocontrol in constructing benzo-fused five-membered rings by C–H cyclization remains an important challenge. We report a highly general and regioselective methodology to access such heterocycles and indenones, where under the catalysis of CoBr2/bipyridine, aryl titanates, alkynes and EX2(E = NR, S(O), RP(O), R2Si, CO, etc.) were assembled to various heterocycles and indenones in a modular manner. Unprecedented 1,2-Co/Ti heterobimetallic arylene and benzotitanole intermediates have played crucial roles in these syntheses.

Abstract

This article discusses the synthesis of ortho-heterobimetallic arylene compounds and their potential applications in regioselective difunctionalization (ODF) in organic chemistry. The authors explore the challenges of incorporating two functional groups onto adjacent carbons of an aromatic ring and propose the use of 1,2-arylene heterobimetallic intermediates containing one or two transition metals as a versatile tool for ODFs. They demonstrate the successful synthesis of these heterobimetallic compounds using Fe/Ti synergism and show their ability to achieve both regioselective E/E' and Nu/E ODFs. 23. Is Fe-catalyzed orthoC–H Arylation of Benzamides Sensitive to Steric Hindrance and Directing Group?

Abstract

The previously reported Fe-catalyzed orthoC–H arylation of benzamides relied on bi- or tridentate amide groups and specific iron ligands and was sensitive to steric hindrance. By using new mixed titanates, our present protocol accommodates various weakly coordinating benzamides and tolerates high steric hindrance and sensitive functional groups only under the catalysis of FeCl3and TMEDA. A wide range of privileged condensed ring compounds can thus be facilely accessed.
