Sengketa tanah akhir-akhir ini menjadi isu yang sangat sentral yang menjadikan skala prioritas segera bisa terselesaikan, ketidakberdayaan lembaga peradilan untuk menyelesaikan penyelesaian sengketa tanah diberbagai wilayah, menjadikan kepercayaan masyarakat berkurang. Oleh karena itu diperlukan penyelesaian lain (opsi lain), untuk mengatasi berbagai kasus penyelesaian pertanahan di negerini ini. Yaitu penyelesaiannya di luar pengadilan (Non Litigasi) Kota Depok, daerah Propinsi Jawa Barat, berbagai persoalan pertanahan banyak sekali yang tidak bisa diselesaikan, ketidakmampuan lembaga pemerintah Kantor Pertanahan Kota Depok, untuk segera mengatasi mungkin persoalan tersebut biar tidak menambah persoalan menjadi semakin sulit. Permasalahan bidang pertanahan di wilayah Kota Depok Jawa Barat mempengaruhi berbagai faktor, karena wilayah depok yang bersinggungan langsung dengan pusar pemerintahan DKI Jakarta, sehingga kebutuhan tanah menjadi hal yang tidak bisa dihindari, hal ini menjadi permasalahn dibidang pertanahan menjadi eskalali tinggi. Untuk mencari solusi agar permasalahan tersebut dapat diatasi, harapan permasalahan selesai maka tanah dapat dimanfaatkan secara ekonomi. Salah satu alternatif solusi untuk menyelesaikan penyelesaian pertanahan dengan melalui Mediasi (Non Litigasi), disisi lain hal tersebut dapat dilakukan secara efektif dan efisien, dengan biaya murah, waktu singkat, dengan sebuah syarat bahwa para pihak dalam penyelesaian pertanahan dapat menerima dengan rasa keadilan. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dalam bentuk penyuluhan hukum yang bertemakan “Penyuluhan Hukum Penyelesaian Sengketa Tanah Atau Lahan Melalui Jalur Non Litigasi atau Diluar Ranah Pengadilan Diwilayah Kelurahan Pangkalan Jati Baru Kecamatan Cinere Kota Depok” diharapkan bisa memberikan solusi atau opsi bagi permasalahan yang saat ini masih terjadi di Kelurahan Pangkalan Jati Baru Kecamatan Cinere Kota Depok. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sudah sebelumnya pernah dilaksanakan dua kali tahun 2021 dan tahun ini 2022 dengan tema berbeda. Kegiatan Abdimas ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dengan menghadirkan perangkat kelurahan, tokoh masyarakat, ketua RT, RW yang ada dilingkungan kelurahan Pangkalan Jati Baru. Kesimpulan Dari hasil kegiatan Abdimas masyarakat sangat antusias banyaknya pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang dilontarkan kepada penyaji dan keingintahuan tentang pertanahan sangat serius, peserta Abdimas menyarankan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bisa berkesinambungan memberikan wacana atau gambaran hal hal yang berkaitan dengan penebangan lahan atau dengan tema yang lain

Abstract Bioengineered probiotics enable new opportunities to improve colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, prevention and treatment. Here, first, we demonstrate selective colonization of colorectal adenomas after oral delivery of probiotic E. coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) to a genetically-engineered murine model of CRC predisposition and orthotopic models of CRC. We next undertake an interventional, double-blind, dual-centre, prospective clinical trial, in which CRC patients take either placebo or EcN for two weeks prior to resection of neoplastic and adjacent normal colorectal tissue (ACTRN12619000210178). We detect enrichment of EcN in tumor samples over normal tissue from probiotic-treated patients (primary outcome of the trial). Next, we develop early CRC intervention strategies. To detect lesions, we engineer EcN to produce a small molecule, salicylate. Oral delivery of this strain results in increased levels of salicylate in the urine of adenoma-bearing mice, in comparison to healthy controls. To assess therapeutic potential, we engineer EcN to locally release a cytokine, GM-CSF, and blocking nanobodies against PD-L1 and CTLA-4 at the neoplastic site, and demonstrate that oral delivery of this strain reduces adenoma burden by ~50%. Together, these results support the use of EcN as an orally-deliverable platform to detect disease and treat CRC through the production of screening and therapeutic molecules.

In previous studies, the use of mineral wools as an onsite-supporting media in water bodies showed satisfactory results in removing organic pollutants. However, the analytical method chosen is still very conventional. This study aims to model the removal of organic pollutants represented by the COD value to determine the mineral performance. The data used in this study are field scale data using two types of mineral wools, namely type I (density 80 kg/m3 and water retention 95%) and type II (density 120 kg/m3 and water retention 92%). There are form variations of mineral wool namely cubes and blocks on each type, which are placed respectively in segments 2, 4, 8, and 9, on the Cikapayang River. The modeling results show that the most optimal type of mineral wool to remove COD is type II mineral wool-cube form at segment 4 using the first order kinetics equation. The reaction coefficient (k) obtained is 0,5378/s, standard deviation value is 14,532 mg/L COD, and the coefficient of determination is 0,1025. The kinetics value of the reaction removal and equations obtained are used to make modeling in Matlab R2020b application to determine the dimensions of the mineral wool required to remove pollutants.

Urban water management efforts are essential in encouraging the fulfillment of the SDGs targets. One action that can be done is to approach the calculation of the actual water consumption value. This research conducted a survey of domestic water consumption in Bandar Lampung City to obtain comprehensive information. Bandar Lampung City was chosen because it is one of the cities on the island of Sumatra with a high economic growth rate. Lampung Province is the top 3 province in Sumatera Island with the higher Gross Domestic Product Growth on 2022, with Bandar Lampung as its capital city. Furthermore, water consumption patterns were analyzed for various activities, socio demographic conditions, and the community's economy. The results showed that of the 404 samples, the average water usage was 195.08 liters/person/day, with the dominant activities in use including bathing (66.84 liters/person/day), flushing the toilet (35.71 liters/person) / day), and ablution (29.74 liters/person/day). Furthermore, the variable number of family members in one house and income level have significant different on total domestic water consumption. The results obtained in this study are expected to assist in making decisions regarding urban water management plans.

Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) in ambient air contain metallic elements and can be inhaled by humans. Inhaled metal elements risk public health with long-term exposure because metallic elements are carcinogenic in the human body. This study aimed to analyze metallic elements and assess their risk to public health in the Bandung area and its surroundings. The metal elements analyzed in this research are Pb, Al, and Mn. Ambient air sampling was carried out in five industrial areas: Bandung Wetan, Buahbatu, Cibeureum, Padalarang, and Cimahi. High Volume Air Sampler (HVAS) is for sampling TSP in ambient air, and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) was used to analyze metallic elements. The results of the study showed that the Cimahi location gave the highest TSP level (126.7 g/m3) and the lowest is Padalarang (15.1µg/m3). The metal elements concentrations, Pb, Al, and Mn were varied widely of 7.1–29.21 ng/m3, 1054.9–1700.1 ng/m3, and 8.91–14.79 ng/m3, respectively. Risk analysis was determined by calculating ADDinhale, Hazard Quotient (HQ), and Hazard Index (HI) to determine whether there is a potential non–carcinogenic effect on public health. Each industrial area gives an HI value > 1, and Buahbatu has the highest HI. This study proves that Pb significantly contributes to the increased risk of community exposure to non-carcinogenic effects.

Background and Aim: The emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as a highly pathogenic strain in veterinary and human medicine is a growing global problem. This study aimed to evaluate MRSA isolates of human and animal origin against various antibiotics in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Materials and Methods: The susceptibility test was carried out by the disk diffusion method using Mueller-Hinton agar against nine antibiotic disks. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus strains were genetically confirmed through mecA gene detection encoding for methicillin resistance by polymerase chain reaction. Results: All 240 S. aureus strains isolated from animals and humans were resistant to penicillin G (P) (100% and 99%, respectively), followed by ampicillin (AMP), amoxicillin (AML), oxacillin (OX), erythromycin (E), clindamycin (DA), tetracycline (TE), gentamicin (GEN), and ciprofloxacin (CIP). Eighty-three MRSA strains were resistant to OX (100%), P (100%), AMP (99.27%), AML (95.52%), E (87.77%), TE (71.33%), DA (63.24%), GEN (38.81%), and CIP (26.87%). Conclusion: The antimicrobial resistance pattern of S. aureus human isolates was similar to their animal counterpart, with 77.20% of MRSA strains classified as multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria. These findings indicate an increase in MDR S. aureus strains of animal origin in Yogyakarta, thus raising public health concerns about MRSA zoonotic spread.

Objetiva-se compreender os perfis gerenciais predominantes nos colaboradores da instituição. Tendo isso, com o pouco conhecimento por parte das organizações públicas sobre as competências gerenciais necessárias para o desenvolvimento das atividades no TRE-AC, deu-se o problema da pesquisa onde se buscou saber os perfis gerenciais predominantes dos servidores do TRE-AC. A abordagem é quantitativa e um estudo quantitativo com análise estatística. O resultado alcançado demonstrou a predominância dos papéis dos colaboradores como Inovador e Negociador. Sendo assim, a organização pública deve utilizar o mapeamento das competências gerenciais dos colaboradores para o desenvolvimento do treinamento na função.

10. Understanding the Cost of Universal School Vouchers: An Analysis of Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account Program

In the 2022-23 school year, Arizona began implementation of a "universal voucher" program through which all school-age students are eligible for a voucher, and families can use public funding to underwrite private or homeschool education for their children. Universal vouchers in Arizona are an expansion of the existing Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program, which was targeted to students with special education needs or in specific circumstances. To better understand this program's impact on Arizona public schools, this report undertook a financial review of the expanded Arizona ESA program using publicly available data from the state budget, which details total state expenditures and student enrollment; Arizona Department of Education (ADE) quarterly reports to the State Board of Education, which detail the number of ESA applications received, approved, and denied; and ADE enrollment figures. The authors analyzed student enrollment in the program, the combined cost of the earlier enacted ESA program and the new universal voucher program, and their effects on education funding in the state. This report outlines the cost estimates and calculations in detail.

The higher-order thinking ability of students in Indonesia is still in the low category. This research aims to see the effect of the application of a problem-based learning model on higher-order mathematical thinking skills in terms of student's initial abilities and mathematical beliefs. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Data on students' higher-order mathematical thinking skills were taken using a test instrument. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Jakarta with a total of 165 students obtained from cluster random sampling. Based on the analysis of the three-way ANOVA test, it was found that the problem-based learning model had a positive effect on students' higher-order thinking skills. Problem-based learning model gives better results than conventional learning models. This also applies to students with the initial ability and mathematical beliefs in the high category. Problem-based learning can be an alternative for teachers to improve students' higher-order mathematical thinking skills.

12. Optimization of Enzymatic Bioremediation of Oil Contaminated Soil by Laccase from Marasmiellus palmovorus using Response Surface Methodology

Crude oil contamination is considered highly toxic and poses a significant environmental problem. As an alternative, the laccase enzyme showed high performance for removing various toxic contaminants, particularly oil-contaminated soil (i.e., total petroleum hydrocarbon). However, previous studies mainly tested the performance of laccase under irrelevant environmental conditions (i.e., artificially contaminated soil) with a limited number of soil samples, which can lead to bias optimization results for assessing laccase performance. Two types of natural oil-contaminated soils were tested under various reaction times and various concentrations of laccase extracted from Marasmiellus palmovorus. In addition, response surface methodology was used to find the maximum degradation of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH). The maximum degradation of TPH from soil A and soil B were 48.57% and 54.1%, respectively. Moreover, the performance of the laccase enzyme for oil recovery was also tested, with the percentage of oil recovery being 9.89% and 10.1 % for soil A and soil B, respectively. SARA fraction analysis indicated that laccase enzyme preferentially degraded highly polar SARA fraction (i.e., asphaltene and resin). In general, the application of laccase for the enzymatic remediation of oil-contaminated soils was practical. Hence, the use of laccase for environmental application is still promising.

O presente artigo de pesquisa trata a respeito da abordagem no corpo docente dos cursos superiores do Instituto Federal do Acre – IFAC do campus Rio Branco. Nesse estudo, faz-se o questionamento sobre quais são as competências gerenciais percebidas nos professores para a execução das funções docentes, durante a pandemia de Covid-19, além do mapeamento dessas capacidades constatadas. Então, utilizou-se o modelo de Quinn et al. como base de análise, esse modelo se define em vinte e quatro competências gerenciais, conceituando-as e classificando-as em oito papéis gerenciais. O objetivo é analisar as competências gerenciais dos professores de graduação de diversos cursos no IFAC campus Rio Branco, em conformidade com o modelo de Quinn. A abordagem é quantitativa com a coleta de dados realizada por meio de questionário, observando os resultados pelos gráficos de pizza e radar. A escolha do tema revela-se por não haver uma pesquisa nesse ramo no campus Rio Branco, logo nota-se a necessidade de aplicar aos professores. Buscou-se potencializar os campos de conhecimentos da Administração, Educação e Gestão. O resultado alcançado despertou nos docentes habilidades de inovador, produtor, diretor, monitor, facilitador, mentor, com maior ênfase em coordenador, no modelo de processos internos e desequilíbrio no perfil negociador, no modelo de sistemas abertos. Nesse sentido, configurou-se relevante qualificação do corpo docente no período de pandemia.

Studying atmospheric escape from exoplanets can provide important clues about the formation and evolution of exoplanets. Observational evidence of atmospheric escape has been obtained through transit spectroscopy in strong spectral lines of various atomic species. In recent years, the number of exoplanets that have been targeted in this way has grown rapidly, mainly by observations of the metastable helium triplet. Even with this larger sample of exoplanets, many aspects of atmospheric escape remain not fully understood, such as the role of the stellar high-energy spectrum and planetary magnetic field, highlighting the need for additional observations. This work aims to identify the best targets for observations in various spectral lines. Using the atmospheric escape code sunbather, we calculate a synthetic transmission spectrum of nearly every transiting exoplanet currently known. This database of spectra, named sunset, is publicly available. We introduce metrics based on the spectral line strengths and system distance or magnitude, which allow swift identification of the most favorable targets. By analyzing the complete set of spectra from a demographic perspective, we find that the strengths of many spectral lines do not correlate strongly with the atmospheric mass-loss rate, suggesting that a nondetection does not immediately rule out an escaping atmosphere. Our model spectra show only a weak correlation between the XUV (X-ray and extreme UV) flux and the helium line strength, affirming that the absence of such a trend found by observational works is in fact as expected. A direct comparison between our synthetic spectra and the sample of observed metastable helium spectra shows that they are generally consistent within the large model uncertainties. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We report the first measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of J$/\psi$ at forward rapidity ($1.2<|\eta|<2.2$) in Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data were collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. The second Fourier coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distribution of $J/\psi$ is determined as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) using the event-plane method. The measurements were performed for several selections of collision centrality: 0\%--50\%, 10\%--60\%, and 10\%-40\%. We find that in all cases the values of $v_2(p_T)$, which quantify the elliptic flow of J$/\psi$, are consistent with zero. The results are consistent with measurements at midrapidity, indicating no significant elliptic flow of the J$/\psi$ within the quark-gluon-plasma medium at collision energies of $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV., Comment: 369 authors from 72 institutions, 12 pages, 7 figures, 5 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
The $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ charmonium states, composed of $c\bar{c}$ quark pairs and known since the 1970s, are widely believed to serve as ideal probes to test quantum chromodynamics in high-energy hadronic interactions. However, there is not yet a complete understanding of the charmonium-production mechanism. Recent measurements of $J/\psi$ production as a function of event charged-particle multiplicity at the collision energies of both the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show enhanced $J/\psi$ production yields with increasing multiplicity. One potential explanation for this type of dependence is multiparton interactions (MPI). We carry out the first measurements of self-normalized $J/\psi$ yields and the $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio at both forward and backward rapidities as a function of self-normalized charged-particle multiplicity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. In addition, detailed {\sc pythia} studies tuned to RHIC energies were performed to investigate the MPI impacts. We find that the PHENIX data at RHIC are consistent with recent LHC measurements and can only be described by {\sc pythia} calculations that include MPI effects. The forward and backward $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio, which serves as a unique and powerful approach to study final-state effects on charmonium production, is found to be less dependent on the charged-particle multiplicity., Comment: 301 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review D Letters. Pendahuluan: Tension Type Headache (TTH) dapat dipengaruhi banyak faktor, beberapa di antaranya adalah stres dan kadar hormon kortisol. Beberapa penelitian telah menganalisa hubungan nyeri kepala terhadap kortisol, dan stres. Namun, jarang ada penelitian yang menghubungkan ketiganya. Tujuan: Membuktikan adanya hubungan antara intensitas nyeri kepala, stres psikologis dan kadar kortisol serum pada penderita TTH. Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah analitik observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional dengan uji korelasi. Hasil: Pada penelitian ini didapatkan 42 subyek penelitian. Dari pengolahan data, didapatkan p= 0,594. Yang berarti tidak ada korelasi signifikan antara intensitas nyeri kepala dengan stres psikologis. Sementara itu, pada intentistas nyeri kepala dengan kadar kortisol didapatkan korelasi signifikan dengan p= 0,04. Pada stres dan kadar kortisol tidak ditemukan korelasi signifikan dengan p= 0,154. Kesimpulan: Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara intensitas nyeri kepala dengan kadar kortisol serum. Sebaliknya, pada intensitas nyeri kepala dengan stres psikologis dan stres psikologis dengan kadar kortisol serum, tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan.

Interest in Public Theology is growing across the African continent. However, there are some important critiques of Public Theology and public theologians in Africa and from Africa. This article outlines three important critiques of Public Theology within the variety of African contexts. Having done so, it seeks to engage in a process of critical reflection on the two constituent concepts related to an ‘African Public Theology’. First, it considers what we might mean when we speak of ‘Africa’ or ‘African?’ It does so by engaging relevant literature on the subjects of decolonisation and Africanisation as they relate to knowledge production and African theological reflection. Second, we ask, what do we mean when we speak of ‘Public Theology?’ Two broad approaches are presented and critically considered. First, we discuss a descriptive approach to Public Theology. Then we consider a more prescriptive understanding of Public Theology. In each instance we relate to both the critiques of Public Theologies in African contexts, and to the principles of decolonisation and Africanisation, as presented in relevant literature related to the debates and the context. The intention of this article is to take the three identified critiques of ‘African Public Theology’ seriously, and by means of critical conceptual engagement, to keep an important conversation on Public Theology in and from Africa alive. Contribution: This article contributes towards contemporary debates on the relationship between faith and public life in South Africa. South Africa remains a deeply religious society. Religion plays an important role in the formation of moral values, social norms, and dominant practices in public life. Gaining a clearer understanding of what Public Theology is and how it is practiced, helps to further our critical academic understanding of the concept and its practice in contemporary life.

23. ERM-Lasso classification algorithm for Multivariate Hawkes Processes paths

We are interested in the problem of classifying Multivariate Hawkes Processes (MHP) paths coming from several classes. MHP form a versatile family of point processes that models interactions between connected individuals within a network. In this paper, the classes are discriminated by the exogenous intensity vector and the adjacency matrix, which encodes the strength of the interactions. The observed learning data consist of labeled repeated and independent paths on a fixed time interval. Besides, we consider the high-dimensional setting, meaning the dimension of the network may be large {\it w.r.t.} the number of observations. We consequently require a sparsity assumption on the adjacency matrix. In this context, we propose a novel methodology with an initial interaction recovery step, by class, followed by a refitting step based on a suitable classification criterion. To recover the support of the adjacency matrix, a Lasso-type estimator is proposed, for which we establish rates of convergence. Then, leveraging the estimated support, we build a classification procedure based on the minimization of a $L_2$-risk. Notably, rates of convergence of our classification procedure are provided. An in-depth testing phase using synthetic data supports both theoretical results.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
The PHENIX experiment measured the centrality dependence of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions in $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV Au$+$Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The data are well represented by L\'evy-stable source distributions. The extracted source parameters are the correlation-strength parameter $\lambda$, the L\'evy index of stability $\alpha$, and the L\'evy-scale parameter $R$ as a function of transverse mass $m_T$ and centrality. The $\lambda(m_T)$ parameter is constant at larger values of $m_T$, but decreases as $m_T$ decreases. The L\'evy scale parameter $R(m_T)$ decreases with $m_T$ and exhibits proportionality to the length scale of the nuclear overlap region. The L\'evy exponent $\alpha(m_T)$ is independent of $m_T$ within uncertainties in each investigated centrality bin, but shows a clear centrality dependence. At all centralities, the L\'evy exponent $\alpha$ is significantly different from that of Gaussian ($\alpha=2$) or Cauchy ($\alpha=1$) source distributions. Comparisons to the predictions of Monte-Carlo simulations of resonance-decay chains show that in all but the most peripheral centrality class (50%-60%), the obtained results are inconsistent with the measurements, unless a significant reduction of the in-medium mass of the $\eta'$ meson is included. In each centrality class, the best value of the in-medium $\eta'$ mass is compared to the mass of the $\eta$ meson, as well as to several theoretical predictions that consider restoration of $U_A(1)$ symmetry in hot hadronic matter., Comment: 401 authors from 75 institutions, 20 pages, 15 figures, 2 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. 26. Mass Cycle and Dynamics of a Virtual Quiescent Prominence

The mass cycle of solar prominences or filaments is still not completely understood. Researchers agree that these dense structures form by coronal in-situ condensations and plasma siphoning from the underlying chromosphere. In the evaporation-condensation model siphoning arises due to evaporation of chromospheric plasma from localised footpoint heating but this is challenging to justify observationally. Here, we simulate the reconnection-condensation model at extreme-resolutions down to 20.8 km within a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic coronal volume. We form a draining, quiescent prominence and associated coronal rain simultaneously. We show that thermal instability --acting as a trigger for local condensation formation-- by itself drives siphoning flows from the low-corona without the need of any localised heating. In addition, for the first time we demonstrate through a statistical analysis along more than 1000 magnetic field lines that cold condensations give rise to siphoning flows within magnetic threads. This siphoning arises from the strong pressure gradient along field lines induced by thermal instability. No correlation is found between siphoning flows and the prominence mass, making thermal instability the main in-situ mass collection mechanism. Our simulated prominence drains by gliding along strongly sheared, asymmetric, dipped magnetic arcades, and develops natural vertical fine-structure in an otherwise horizontal magnetic field due to the magnetic Rayleigh-Taylor instability. By synthesising our data, our model shows remarkable agreement with observations of quiescent prominences such as its dark coronal cavity in extreme-ultraviolet emission channels, fine-scale vertical structure and reconnection outflows which, for the first time, have been self-consistently obtained as the prominence evolves.

Electron-neutrino charged-current interactions with xenon nuclei were modeled in the nEXO neutrinoless double-beta decay detector (~5-tonne, 90% ${}^{136}$Xe, 10% ${}^{134}$Xe) to evaluate its sensitivity to supernova neutrinos. Predictions for event rates and detectable signatures were modeled using the MARLEY event generator. We find good agreement between MARLEY's predictions and existing theoretical calculations of the inclusive cross sections at supernova neutrino energies. The interactions modeled by MARLEY were simulated within the nEXO simulation framework and were run through an example reconstruction algorithm to determine the detector's efficiency for reconstructing these events. The simulated data, incorporating the detector response, were used to study the ability of nEXO to reconstruct the incident electron-neutrino spectrum and these results were extended to a larger xenon detector of the same isotope enrichment. We estimate that nEXO will be able to observe electron-neutrino interactions with xenon from supernovae as far as 5 to 8 kpc from earth, while the ability to reconstruct incident electron-neutrino spectrum parameters from observed interactions in nEXO is limited to closer supernovae., Comment: 17 pages, 16 figures

Pauli matrices and Pauli strings are widely used in quantum computing. These mathematical objects are useful to describe or manipulate the quantum state of qubits. They offer a convenient basis to express operators and observables used in different problem instances such as molecular simulation and combinatorial optimization. Therefore, it is important to have a well-rounded, versatile and efficient tool to handle a large number of Pauli strings and operators expressed in this basis. This is the objective behind the development of the PauliArray library presented in this work. This library introduces data structures to represent arrays of Pauli strings and operators as well as various methods to modify and combine them. Built using NumPy, PauliArray offers fast operations and the ability to use broadcasting to easily carry out otherwise cumbersome manipulations. Many present-day axion searches attempt to probe the mixing of axions and photons, which occurs in the presence of an external magnetic field. While this process is well-understood in a number of simple and idealized contexts, a strongly varying or highly inhomogeneous background can impact the efficiency and evolution of the mixing in a non-trivial manner. In an effort to develop a generalized framework for analyzing axion-photon mixing in arbitrary systems, we focus in this work on directly solving the axion-modified form of Maxwell's equations across a simulation domain with a spatially varying background. We concentrate specifically on understanding resonantly enhanced axion-photon mixing in a highly magnetized plasma, which is a key ingredient for developing precision predictions of radio signals emanating from the magnetospheres of neutron stars. After illustrating the success and accuracy of our approach for simplified limiting cases, we compare our results with a number of analytic solutions recently derived to describe mixing in these systems. We find that our numerical method demonstrates a high level of agreement with one, but only one, of the published results. Interestingly, our method also recovers the mixing between the axion and magnetosonic-t and Alfv\'{e}n modes; these modes cannot escape from the regions of dense plasma, but could non-trivially alter the dynamics in certain environments. Future work will focus on extending our calculations to study resonant mixing in strongly variable backgrounds, mixing in generalized media (beyond the strong magnetic field limit), and the mixing of photons with other light bosonic fields, such as dark photons., Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures + appendix

The framework lies in the category of conventional approaches which enable appealing features such as, a fast learning with reduced amount of learning data, a reduced memory, a high potential for explainability as well as easiness of incremental learning mechanism to incorporate operator feedback after an alarm is raised an analyzed. All these are crucial features towards acceptance of data-driven solution by industry but they are rarely considered in the comparisons between competing methods which generally exclusively focus on performance metrics. Moreover, the features engineering step involved in the proposed framework is inspired by the time-series being implicitly governed by physical laws as it is generally the case in industrial time-series. How do we know who we are? What sources can we draw upon in order to explain and understand the complex notions of identity and consciousness? This article revisits this debate and argues that African approaches the consciousness and identity cohere with Wentzel van Huyssteen’s post-foundational theology. Post-foundational theology offers a transverse rationality that operates between explanatory power and truth. The impetus for the research that informs this article emerged from a conversation with Prof. Van Huyssteen in 2000. The conversation set the author on a path of exploration which led to the discovery of the richness of African religious, philosophical and social resources on identity and consciousness. The outcome was an integrated approach to identity known as a ‘generous ontology’ that draws upon subjective, objective, inter-subjective and inter-objective sources of knowledge. The article concludes that an African approach to consciousness, as a post-foundational theological contribution, helps us to offer clear explanations and deeper truths in relation to our understanding of identity and consciousness. Intradisciplinary and or interdisciplinary implications: This article presents a post-foundationalist argument for the inclusion of African theological notions of identity and consciousness in the debates of this field that take place at the intersections of faith and science. The outcome textures our explanations and deepens our understandings of transdisciplinary approaches to identity and consciousness.

33. Diseases of Despair in Early Adulthood: The Complex Role of Social Relationships

"Diseases of despair," most prominently depressive and substance-related problems, diminish the prospects of many young adults, especially those with lower levels of education. Yet many young adults in that situation avoid these problems. Close relationships are thought to be a key factor underpinning risk and resilience among this group. To examine this premise, this study explored links, beyond potential confounders assessed in adolescence, between strengths and strains in the social domain and markers of despair in the early and mid-20s in a Canadian sample overrepresenting youth without postsecondary credentials (N = 543, 52% male, 23% non-White). Having a good general ability to maintain supportive relationships was associated with fewer depressive and substance-related symptoms. Furthermore, support and less strain in relationships with parents and friends were associated with fewer depressive symptoms in the early and mid-20s, while for romantic relationships, associations with depressive symptoms became more consistent and robust in the mid-20s. Therefore, support and strains in romantic relationships gradually gained prominence as a determinant of depressive symptoms as youth advanced in adulthood. For substance-related problems, significant associations emerged for strains in friendships only, in both the early and mid-20s. These results suggest that multiple aspects of relationships pose a risk for or protect from the development of diseases of despair in early adulthood and that their relative importance changes depending on outcomes and developmental timing. Thus, facilitating meaningful social connections and reducing the prevalence and impact of relationship strains might contribute to preventing diseases of despair among youth with lower educational attainment.

34. The open-source sunbather code: modeling escaping planetary atmospheres and their transit spectra

Atmospheric escape is thought to significantly influence the evolution of exoplanets, especially for sub-Jupiter planets on short orbital periods. Theoretical models predict that hydrodynamic escape could erode the atmospheres of such gaseous planets, leaving only a rocky core. Deriving atmospheric mass-loss rates from observations is necessary to check these predictions. One of the ways to obtain mass-loss rate estimates is to fit transit spectra of the 10830 {\AA} helium or UV metal lines with Parker wind models. We aim to provide the community with a tool that enables performing this type of analysis, and present sunbather, an open-source Python code to model escaping exoplanet atmospheres and their transit spectra. sunbather incorporates the Parker wind code p-winds and the photoionization code Cloudy, with the ability to calculate any currently known spectral tracer at an arbitrary atmospheric composition. With sunbather, we investigate how the atmospheric structure of a generic hot Neptune planet depends on the metallicity. We find that the mass-loss rate drops by roughly one order of magnitude as we increase the metallicity from solar to 50 times solar. Line cooling by metal species is important already for a solar composition, and more so at higher metallicity. We then demonstrate how sunbather can be used to interpret observations of spectral lines that form in the upper atmosphere. We fit the observed helium spectrum of the mini-Neptune TOI-2134 b and show how even for helium data, the inferred mass-loss rate depends on the metallicity by up to a factor of three., Comment: Accepted to A&A

The lack of close-in Neptune-mass exoplanets evident in transit surveys has largely been attributed either to photoevaporative mass loss or high-eccentricity migration. To distinguish between these two possibilities, we investigate the origins of TOI-1259 A b, a Saturn-mass (0.4 M$_J$, 1.0 R$_J$) exoplanet lying along the upper edge of the Neptune desert. TOI-1259 A b's close-in ($P$ = 3.48 days) orbit and low bulk density make the planet particularly vulnerable to photoevaporation. Using transits observed in the 1083 nm metastable helium line, we probe the upper atmosphere of TOI-1259 A b with the Hale Telescope at Palomar Observatory and the Near-Infrared Spectrograph on Keck II. We report an excess absorption of $0.395\pm{0.072}\%$ with Palomar and a blueshifted absorption of $2.4\pm0.52\%$ with Keck, consistent with an extended escaping atmosphere. Fitting this signal with a Parker wind model, we determine a corresponding atmospheric mass loss rate of log($\dot{M}$) = $10.33\pm 0.13$ g/s for a thermosphere temperature of $8400^{+1200}_{-1000}$ K based on the Palomar absorption and log($\dot{M}$) = $10.0\pm 0.1$ g/s for a thermosphere temperature of $8200^{+1000}_{-900}$ K based on the Keck absorption. This relatively low rate suggests that this planet would not have been significantly altered by mass loss even if it formed in-situ. However, the presence of a white dwarf companion, TOI-1259 B, hints that this planet may not have formed close-in, but rather migrated inward relatively late. Super-puffs are planets with exceptionally low densities ($\rho \lesssim 0.1$~g~cm$^{-3}$) and core masses ($M_c \lesssim 5 M_\oplus$). Many lower-mass ($M_p\lesssim10M_\oplus$) super-puffs are expected to be unstable to catastrophic mass loss via photoevaporation and/or boil-off, whereas the larger gravitational potentials of higher-mass ($M_p\gtrsim10M_\oplus$) super-puffs should make them more stable to these processes. We test this expectation by studying atmospheric loss in the warm, higher-mass super-puff TOI-1420b ($M = 25.1M_\oplus$, $R = 11.9R_\oplus$, $\rho = 0.08$~g~cm$^{-3}$, $T_\mathrm{eq} = 960$~K). We observed one full transit and one partial transit of this planet using the metastable helium filter on Palomar/WIRC and found that the helium transits were $0.671\pm0.079\%$ (8.5$\sigma$) deeper than the TESS transits, indicating an outflowing atmosphere. We modeled the excess helium absorption using a self-consistent 1D hydrodynamics code to constrain the thermal structure of the outflow given different assumptions for the stellar XUV spectrum. These calculations then informed a 3D simulation which provided a good match to the observations with a modest planetary mass-loss rate of $10^{10.82}$~g~s$^{-1}$ ($M_p/\dot{M}\approx70$~Gyr). Super-puffs with $M_p\gtrsim10M_\oplus$, like TOI-1420b and WASP-107b, appear perfectly capable of retaining atmospheres over long timescales; therefore, these planets may have formed with the unusually large envelope mass fractions they appear to possess today. We present a multidimensional data analysis framework for the analysis of ordinal response variables. Underlying the ordinal variables, we assume a continuous latent variable, leading to cumulative logit models. The framework includes unsupervised methods, when no predictor variables are available, and supervised methods, when predictor variables are available. We distinguish between dominance variables and proximity variables, where dominance variables are analyzed using inner product models, whereas the proximity variables are analyzed using distance models. An expectation-majorization-minimization algorithm is derived for estimation of the parameters of the models. We illustrate our methodology with data from the International Social Survey Programme.

38. Supervised and Unsupervised Mapping of Binary Variables: A proximity perspective

We propose a new mapping tool for supervised and unsupervised analysis of multivariate binary data with multiple items, questions, or response variables. The mapping assumes an underlying proximity response function, where participants can have multiple reasons to disagree or say ``no'' to a question. The probability to endorse, or to agree with an item depends on an item specific parameter and the distance in a joint space between a point representing the item and a point representing the participant. The item specific parameter defines a circle in the joint space around the location of the item such that for participants positioned within the circle the probability is larger than 0.5. For map estimation, we develop and test an MM-algorithm in which the negative likelihood function is majorized with a weighted least squares function. The weighted least squares function can be minimized with standard algorithms for multidimensional unfolding, except that negative working dissimilarities may occur in the iterative process. To illustrate the new mapping, two empirical data sets are analyzed. The mappings are interpreted in detail and the unsupervised map is compared to a visualization based on correspondence analysis. In a Monte Carlo study, we test the performance of the algorithm in terms of recovery of population parameters and conclude that this recovery is adequate. A second Monte Carlo study investigates the predictive performance of the new mapping compared to a similar mapping with a monotone response function.

39. Federal and State Resources for Students Experiencing Homelessness. Research Brief

- Abstract
Approximately 1.3 million public school students in the United States were identified by their schools or districts as experiencing some form of homelessness in 2019-20. The housing instability faced by these students is associated with a range of acute needs, including transportation, food security, health care, and emotional and mental health. These challenges have negative impacts for student learning and are associated with lower academic achievement and attainment. This brief reviews major federal and state sources of funding for students experiencing homelessness. It finds that federal funding is insufficient to achieve the goals of federal law and is unevenly distributed. Further, only four states provide dedicated funding to support students experiencing homelessness. Recommendations include increases in funding and an entitlement formula for the McKinney-Vento Act, as well as expansion of allowable uses of funds to cover acute needs, and more informative data about resource use. An Ocular Sebaceous Carcinoma (OSC) is a rare malignant tumor for which initial clinical and pathological diagnosis is often incorrect. OSCs can mimic Squamous Cell Carcinomas of the Conjunctiva (SCCC). The aim of this study was to find microRNA biomarkers to distinguish OSCs and SCCCs from normal tissue and from each other. Clinical OSC and SCCC case files and the corresponding histopathological slides were collected and reviewed. Micro dissected formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor and control tissues were subjected to semi-high throughput microRNA profiling. MicroRNA expression distinguishes OSCs and SCCCs from corresponding control tissues. Selected differentially expressed miRNAs were validated using single RT-PCR assays. No prognostic miRNAs could be identified that reliably predict SCCC metastasis or OSC recurrence. A comparison between OSCs (n = 14) and SCCCs (n = 18) revealed 38 differentially expressed microRNAs (p < 0.05). Differentially expressed miRNAs were selected for validation in the discovery cohort and an independent validation cohort (OSCs, n = 11; SCCCs, n = 12). At least two miRNAs, miR-196b-5p (p ≤ 0.05) and miR-107 (p ≤ 0.001), displayed a statistically significant differential expression between OSCs and SCCCs with miR-196b-5p upregulated in SCCCs and miR-107 upregulated in OSCs. In the validation cohort, microRNA miR-493-3p also showed significant upregulation in SCCCs when compared to OSCs (p ≤ 0.05). ROC analyses indicated that the combined miR-196b-5p and miR-107 expression levels predicted OSCs with 90.0% sensitivity and 83.3% specificity. In conclusion, the combined testing of miR-196b-5p and miR-107, can be of additional use in routine diagnostics to discriminate OSCs from SCCCs.

46. Reflecting on the nature of work in contemporary South Africa: A public theological engagement with calling and vocation

This article argues for a rediscovery of a theology of work in South Africa that is based on the Protestant notion of calling and vocation. Such a view has the primary intention of emphasising obedience and faithfulness to God rather than self-fulfilment or achievement as the intentions of work. Such an approach can empower and equip the church and individual Christians for effective and faithful living in all spheres of life – both private and public. The article shows that the influences of theological dualism, an unbalanced view of the clergy as primary agents of ministry and mission, and a structures-centred view of ministry and mission detracted from the importance of the church’s ministry in numerous spheres of society. A consequence of this was the introduction of a subtle dualism between faith and work. In response to this, the article considers how the church could become an agent of mission and transformation in the world of work. The conclusion of this article is that the South African church could benefit from revisiting and rediscovering a theology of work that is based on the Protestant emphasis of calling and vocation in the public sphere. Contribution: While this article engages the traditional protestant theological notions of calling and vocation, it argues that reconsidering these notions in relation to the contemporary world of work can renew a theology of work and ministry for South African churches to serve their members in achieving God’s will in society.

47. The Effect of Intraocular Pressure-Lowering Medication on Metastatic Uveal Melanomas

Background: There has been speculation that IOP-lowering medication, which increases aqueous humor outflow, increases the risk of metastatic uveal melanoma (UM). This hypothesis has not been studied previously but is relevant for UM patients who use IOP-lowering medication. The aim of the current study is to assess the association between the use of intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering medication and the risk of metastatic UM, and mortality. Methods: A retrospective cohort study, in which patients from the Rotterdam Ocular Melanoma Study were included from 1986 onwards. Medical records were evaluated for use of IOP-lowering medication at baseline (i.e., before diagnosis). For each IOP-lowering medication, we divided patients into two groups for comparison (e.g., patients with alpha2-agonist use and patients without alpha2-agonist use). All patients underwent regular ophthalmic examinations and routine screening for metastasis. Survival analyses were initiated to compare groups in each IOP-lowering medication group. In addition, secondary analyses were performed to examine the association between IOP and the development of metastatic UM, and mortality. Results: A total of 707 patients were included of whom 13 patients used prostaglandin or pilocarpine at baseline. For alpha2-agonist, beta-blocker, carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and oral IOP-lowering medication these were 4, 14, 11, and 12 patients, respectively. The risk of metastatic UM (choroid and ciliary body melanoma) among the prostaglandin/pilocarpine users was significantly higher than controls (HR [95% CI]: 4.840 [1.452–16.133]). Mortality did not differ significantly among the IOP-lowering medications groups, except for the prostaglandin or pilocarpine group (HR [95% CI]: 7.528 [1.836–30.867]). If we combined all IOP-lowering medication that increase aqueous humor outflow, the risk (HR [95% CI]) of metastatic UM and mortality was 6.344 (1.615–24.918) and 9.743 (2.475–38.353), respectively. There was an association between IOP and mortality, but not for the onset of metastatic UM. Conclusion: The use of topical prostaglandin or pilocarpine may increase the risk of metastatic UM and mortality compared to patients without prostaglandin or pilocarpine use. Therefore, use of IOP-lowering medication which increases aqueous humor outflow, should be avoided in patients with (presumed) UM.

The purpose of this study is to explore world language teacher perceptions of inclusion in online instructional practices. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews conducted with six world language teachers in one large public school district during the 2020-2021 academic year. Four of six teachers described practices that incorporate racial and ethnic diversity in curricula, and five teachers expressed uncertainty about how to integrate diverse gender and sexual identities in their practices. Teachers found the support of world language colleagues instrumental in adapting their online practices to be inclusive. Findings hold practical implications for teachers and teacher educators who aim to develop inclusive instructional practices in online settings.

Approximately 1.3 million public school students in the United States were identified as experiencing some form of homelessness in 2019-20. Due to their unstable living situations, students experiencing homelessness often have additional educational, social, emotional, and material needs compared to their stably housed peers. Housing instability can result in increased absences from school and can lead to students changing schools midyear. Each school move can disrupt students' education and limit opportunities to learn. The multiple challenges associated with homelessness negatively impact student learning outcomes. Reading, mathematics, and science scores for students experiencing homelessness tend to be lower than those of their peers, including those from economically disadvantaged but residentially stable families. While there is a need to focus attention on students experiencing homelessness, school districts may face barriers supporting them. These barriers include unstable funding or funding that is inadequate to meet student needs, and restrictions on the allowable uses of federal funds, which limits district ability to support noneducational expenses, such as for emergency housing. In addition, prior research has found that funding may help districts identify students experiencing homelessness, and without sufficient funding, fewer students are able to be identified as needing support, leading to inadequate services. The purpose of the report is to examine the federal and state funding sources directed to schools to support students experiencing homelessness. [For the research brief, see ED630220.]

In this paper we study the Cayley graph $\mathrm{Cay}(S_n,T)$ of the symmetric group $S_n$ generated by a set of transpositions $T$. We show that for $n\geq 5$ the Cayley graph is normal. As a corollary, we show that its automorphism group is a direct product of $S_n$ and the automorphism group of the transposition graph associated to $T$. This provides an affirmative answer to a conjecture raised by Ganesan in arXiv:1703.08109, showing that $\mathrm{Cay}(S_n,T)$ is normal if and only if the transposition graph is not $C_4$ or $K_n$., Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures
