Phototherapy attracts increasing interest for broad bio-applications due to its noninvasive and highly selective nature. Owing to their good biocompatibility, unique optoelectronic properties and size/surface effects, carbon nanomaterials show great promise for phototherapy. Various carbon nanomaterials have been demonstrated as efficient phototherapy agents for a large variety of phototherapeutic applications, including cancer treatment, anti-bacteria, and Alzheimer’s disease. This review summarizes the recent progress of carbon nanomaterials for phototherapy. Current challenges and future perspectives are also discussed.

The northern South China Sea continental margin is the key or critical segment of the Ocean-Continent Connection Zone (OCCZ) of the Great South China Block, the junction between the Tethyan and the (Paleo-) Pacific dynamic systems, and the interaction area between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. However, due to the low-degree geophysical exploration in the past, the regional tectonic background, processes and mechanism of the transition between the Tethyan and the Pacific tectonic domains are unclear. Based on the latest large number of seismic profiles, we focus on the Cenozoic basin structure in the continental margin of the northern South China Sea and try to reveal the Mesozoic basement structures of the northern South China Sea continental margin, with the aim of exploring the pre-Cenozoic tectonic evolution and the Cenozoic opening, spreading, ridge fossil and closure of the South China Sea oceanic basin, so as to serve the accurate oil and gas exploration in this area at the same time. The seismic interpretation of the Pearl River Mouth Basin and the field structural investigation of the South China continental margin show that the OCCZ of the South China Block has experienced three processes: Mesozoic Indosinian collisional orogeny, Early Yanshanian accretionary orogeny and Late Yanshanian transpressive orogeny. During the Cenozoic era, it experienced the dispersive extension into basins under the control of NW-SE-directed normal extension in the early stage, the dextral pull-apart into basins under the control of NE-NNE-trending strike-slip faults in the middle stage, and the sinistral pull-apart into basins under the control of NW-WNW strike-slip faults in the late stage. In general, the transition process from the Tethyan to the Pacific tectonic systems can be subdivided into four stages: the transition from the Paleo-Tethyan to the Neo-Tethyan tectonic systems, the transition from the Neo-Tethyan to the Paleo-Pacific tectonic systems, the transition from the Neo-Tethyan to the Pacific tectonic systems, and the transition from the Paleo-Pacific to the Pacific tectonic systems. The tectonic transition of the East Asian OCCZ reflects the long-term mechanism of the Earth plate dynamic system driving the plate superconvergence in East Asia, in particular of the importance of the deep or submarine “Triple Poles”, the Southeast Asian U-shape subduction system, the Pacific LLSVP and the African LLSVP. More importantly, the Southeast Asian U-shape subduction system is also one of the important dynamic engines of the Earth plate motion.

Supramolecular chemistry during the synthesis of carbon-nitrogen-based materials has recently experienced a renaissance in the arena of photocatalysis and electrocatalysis. In this review, we start with the discussion of supramolecular assemblies-derived carbon-nitrogen-based materials’ regulation from the aspect of morphology, chemical composition, and micro/nanostructural control. Afterwards the recent advances of these materials in energy and environment related applications, including degradation of pollutants, water splitting, oxygen reduction reactions, CO2 reduction reactions along with organic synthesis are summarized. The correlations between the structural features and physicochemical properties of the carbon-nitrogen-based materials and the specific catalytic activity are discussed in depth. By highlighting the opportunities and challenges of supramolecular assembly strategies, we attempt an outlook on possible future developments for highly efficient carbon-based photo/electrocatalysts.

For quantitatively identifying the chaotic patterns in traffic flow prediction, certain types of Duffing systems can be used. The accuracy and reliability of numerical results of the system’s solution have significant influence on the traffic flow prediction. The nonlinear dynamic behavior of Duffing system used for the traffic flow prediction is investigated in this research. The solutions of the system are developed and solved numerically by using the P-T method. The regular and irregular responses of the system considered are graphically illustrated with the newly developed P-R method. Based on the results of the research, the frequency and amplitude of the external excitations applied on the system significantly affecting the nonlinear dynamic behavior therefore the traffic flow prediction in transferring the results by Wigner-Ville transform. Additionally, a comparison between the P-T and Runge-Kutta method is conducted in regarding the accuracy and reliability of the methods.

This research investigates the nonlinear behavior and stability of an elastic suspended cable system under combined parametric and external excitations, with an approach of higher accuracy and reliability. Geometric nonlinearity of the cable and its in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations are considered. Multiple solutions of the system are found existing, corresponding to a single frequency of external excitation. The nonlinear stability of the cable system is investigated with focus on the influence of different system parameters. With the newly developed Periodicity-Ratio (P-R) method, the influences of different external excitations on the nonlinear vibrations of the cable system are examined, and a periodic-nonperiodic-chaotic region diagram is created for quantitatively and graphically identifying the stability and nonlinear behavior of the system.

A dual-pendulum-rotor system widely appears in aero-power plant, mining screening machines, parallel robots, and the like of the other rotation equipment. Unfortunately, the synchronous behavior related to the dual-pendulum-rotor system is less reported. Based on the special backgrounds, a simplified mechanical model of the dual-pendulum-rotor system is proposed in the paper, and the intrinsic mechanisms of synchronous phenomenon in the system are further revealed with employing the Poincaré method. The research results show that the spring stiffness, the installation angular of the motor, and rotation direction of the rotors have a large influence on the existence and stability of the synchronization state in the coupling system, and the mass ratios of the system are irrelevant to the synchronous state of the system. It should be noted that to ensure the implementation of the synchronization of the system, the values of the parameters of the system should be far away to the two “critical points”.

This research aims to characterize the nonlinear responses of a 3-layer laminated composite cantilever beam systemsubjected to evenly distributed dynamic excitations, with the employment of the Periodicity Ratio (PR) method. Periodic, quasiperiodic, chaotic behaviors especially the behaviors in between period and quasiperiod of the cantilever beam system are quantitatively described. A periodic-quasiperiodic-chaotic region diagram is developed to be used for identifying the global behaviors of the cantilever beam system with a large range of parameters. The research approach demonstrates that the PR method is effective and powerful in analyzing the complex dynamical characteristics of nonlinear cantilever beam systems, and the approach shows significances for industrial application and further nonlinear research in this area.
