Teachers are the key to an inclusive and quality education for all. Therefore, training teachers and teacher students and understanding how they learn, including information-seeking behaviours, is crucial. This systematic literature review explores the observed research gap regarding teacher students’ information-seeking behaviours. Of specific interest is information-seeking affective behaviours and the research practice context. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guided the review process. Searches were conducted in three key research databases and resulted in 1006 references. Abstracts and titles were screened and assessed using Rayyan. After screening, 56 publications were chosen for the qualitative synthesis, of which 39 used only or partly quantitative methods and thereby of interest for the review. The high number of studies resulted in a need to divide the review into two studies. The second part will focus on qualitative methods studies. The results were then analysed through thematic analysis. The results revealed a research gap regarding quantitative and mixed methods studies of non-normative and qualitative features of teacher students’ information-seeking behaviours, especially affective behaviours and in research practices. This is the first systematic review of teacher students’ information-seeking behaviours. Thus, a valuable contribution to information-seeking behaviour and information literacy research has been provided.

Konferensen Lärarlärdom 2018 genomfördes den 16 augusti på Högskolan Kristianstad. Lärarlärdom är en samarbetskonferens mellan Blekinge Tekniska Högskola och Högskolan Kristianstad och går av stapeln varje år strax innan höstens terminsstart. Konferensen erbjuds som en mötesplats för våra anställda där alla kan träffas för kvalificerade samtal kring kvalitet i undervisning och lärande inom högre utbildning.Vi ser gärna att alla som på något sätt deltar i utvecklingen av våra utbildningar och studenter tar plats på konferensen; Lärare, forskare, doktorander, studieadministratörer, bibliotekarier och personal i olika stödfunktioner som genom åren byggt upp en gedigen kunskap om och reflekterad erfarenhet kring lärande inom högskola och universitet. 2018-års tema var Hållbar utveckling i högre utbildning. Huvudtalare på konferensen var universitetslektor Sally Windsor, nu verksam vid Göteborgs Universitet, Institutionen för Didaktik och Pedagogisk Profession. Utifrån temat satte Windsor en ram för vad hållbarhetsfrågan omfattas av för ett lärosäte idag och hur lärare kan tänka kring implementeringen i undervisningen. Torsdagen den 15 augusti 2019 är det Blekinge Tekniska Högskola som är värd och konferensen äger rum i Karlskrona. Denna gång är även Malmö Universitet inbjudna att delta. Progressionsplaner avseende studenters färdigheter i informationskompetens är alltjämt föremål för diskussion i högre utbildning. Föreliggande projekt tar avstamp i problematiken kring varför studenter inom förskollärarutbildningen nästan genomgående ”väljer bort” kvantitativ metod i samband med planeringen och skrivandet av examensarbetet. I utbildningen har det uppdagats att studenter i förberedande terminer inte erbjöds lärandetillfällen att tillägna sig övning i moment som informationskompetens (IK) och beskrivande statistik på basnivå. I arbetet att göra studenterna nyfikna på kvantitativ vetenskaplig metod och känna en större säkerhet att tillgodogöra sig sådana texter genomfördes samplanerade workshops i två delprov under termin 4. Studenterna tilldelades en vetenskaplig artikel inom området hållbar utveckling kopplat till förskolepraktiken som lästes och analyserades med handledning av undervisande lärare och bibliotekarier. Efter workshopen i att söka, samla och värdera vetenskapliga kvantitativa artiklar valde studenterna ut en egen artikel. Arbete skedde parvis och studenterna fick i uppgift att sammanfatta texten och processen om hur de sökt fram den vetenskapliga texten, samt delge den aktuella forskningsfrågan tillsammans med tillhörande kvantitativa metod- och resultatbeskrivning. Studenterna ombads också redogöra för vilken ny kunskap som genererats i deras lärande och konstruktivt reflektera kring etiska och kritiska aspekter på texten. Slutresultatet blev ett vetenskapligt paper som kurskamrater opponerade på vid ett muntligt examinationstillfälle.Det vittnades i utvärderande studentreflektioner om önskemål av artikelsöksövningar i mindre grupper och ytterligare vägledning i vetenskapligt rapportskrivande i samband med skrivande av uppsatsplan och genomförande av sista terminens examensarbete. Information literacy (IL) is both a discipline and transdisciplinary skill (ACRL, 2015). Its transdisciplinary and context-dependant application, as well as its theoretical underpinnings, make it a natural fit within the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). IL is broadly defined as the ability to search for, select, critically evaluate and use information for solving problems in various contexts (ACRL Framework, 2015; SCONUL 7 Pillars, 2015). Previous decades of expansion and diversification in higher education - with a growing interest in research on teaching and learning (e.g. SoTL), along with the rapidly changing information landscape – has highlighted IL as an important academic skill. IL is a vital skill for graduates’ employability, lifelong learning, and for being an engaged and informed citizen. Today, this conversation has been reinvigorated due to the rapid misinformation spread via social networks and the Internet. This panel is comprised of three librarians from three countries who will talk about how IL is viewed in different national contexts in North America and Europe. The panelists will outline how different national and institutional contexts affect how IL is viewed, highlight the importance of disciplinary context and how faculty approach IL, discuss how IL can be embedded into curriculum, and point to the dominant IL frameworks currently being used. The panelists will also summarize some of the common critiques of IL instruction and make an argument for why IL can be enhanced through SoTL research approaches. Time will be set aside, near the start of the panel, for participants to discuss how information works in their discipline (including creation, distribution, and evaluation) and how they teach IL skills in their classroom. Konferensen erbjuds som en mötesplats där alla kan träffas för kvalificerade samtal kring kvalitet i undervisning och lärande inom högre utbildning. Vi ser gärna att alla som på något sätt deltar i utvecklingen av våra studenter tar plats på konferensen; Lärare, forskare, doktorander, studieadministratörer, bibliotekarier och personal i olika stödfunktioner som genom åren byggt en gedigen kunskap om och reflekterad erfarenhet kring lärande inom högskola och universitet. I år var temat studentaktivt lärande och som inledningstalare kring detta ämne var Pernilla Severson, Universitetslektor i Journalistik och medieproduktion, inbjuden. Fokus i hennes tal handlade om studentaktivt lärande och mötet mellan forskning om digitala mediers kollaborativa möjligheter, om deltagarorienterad aktionsforskning samt om de tillämpningar inom "Scholarship of Teaching and Learning" som fokuserar på möjligheter och hinder inom en viss kontext.

Librarian-teacher cooperation is essential for the integration of information literacy into course syllabi. Therefore a common theoretical and methodological platform is needed. As librarians at Kristianstad University we have had the opportunity to develop such a platform when teaching information literacy in a basic course for teachers in higher education pedagogy. Information literacy is taught in context with academic writing, distance learning and teaching, and development of course syllabi. Constructive alignment in theory We used constructive alignment in designing our part of the course. Biggs´ ideas tell us that assessment tasks (ATs) should be aligned to what is intended to be learned. Intended learning outcomes (ILOs) specify teaching/learning activities (TLAs) based on the content of learning. TLAs should be designed in ways that enable students to construct knowledge from their own experience. The ILOs for the course are to have arguments for the role of information literacy in higher education and ideas of implementing it in TLAs. The content of learning is for example the concept of information literacy, theoretical perspectives and constructive alignment for integration in course syllabi. TLAs are written pre-lecture reflections on the concept of information literacy, used as a starting point for the 3 h lecture. Learning reflections are written afterwards. The AT is to revise a syllabus (preferably using constructive alignment) for a course the teacher is responsible for, where information literacy must be integrated with the other parts and topics of the course. Constructive alignment in practice Using constructive alignment has taught us that this model serves well as the foundation of the theoretical and methodological platform for librarian-teacher cooperation when integrating information literacy in course syllabi. Traditionally the content of fiction has not been described, analyzed, classified and/or indexed to the same extent as non-fiction. As a consequence, this lack of content analysis has resulted in unsatisfactory fiction retrieval in relation to users seeking and search behaviour. This fact is why this Master s thesis is written. The total of library users' seeking and search behaviour is investigated in order to suggest methods to improve user adapted fiction retrieval tools. Suggesting relevant fiction retrieval tools corresponding to users' seeking/search behaviour is another aim of the study. In order to generalize the results, two methods are used, close reading and empirical studies. The latter carried out at the municipal library of Trelleborg. Three major components concerning users fiction search/seeking behaviour are identified: initiating factors, content and form preferences and actual search/seeking beahaviour. The most prominent initiating factors are: familiar authors, book reviews, book recommendations, well known authors, author and book descriptions and library exposure. Users content and form preferences are multifaceted and five dominant dimensions are of importance: subject/matter, frame, literary form, author s intention and accessibilty. Three search strategies are identified: browsing shelves, librarian conversation and use of the library catalogue. Following retrieval tools and related methods are suggested in order to reflect the total of users seeking/search behaviour: Classification and indexing systems - should be multifacetted and include subjective elements; both tools for experts, classification and pre-coordinated indexing systems, and for users, postcoordinated indexing systems and absracts, are needed. Shelf classification and exposure - classification by genre is needed as well as bibliographic access. Exposure of reviews, recommendations, author descriptions and exposure of themes are needed.
