This study aimed to evaluate the distribution of plasma troponin I concentration and establish the 99th percentile reference for hs-cTnI in a hospitalized population without a cardiovascular discharge diagnosis from the Shandong area.

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of serum oxidative stress with MMPs in rheumatoid patients with carotid atherosclerosis. Methods Ninety-two cases of rheumatoid patients were divided into non-carotid atherosclerosis group (group A, 45 cases) and carotid artery (group B,47 cases),while 40 cases of healthy person were selected as the control group (group C) . MMP-3, MMP-9, TIMP-1, MDA, SOD and GSH were detected. Results There were significant differences in MMP-9 and TIMP-1 between groupsA and C(P < 0.05),and in MMP-3,MMP-9 and TIMP-1 between group B and the other two groups (P < 0.05) . Compared with group C,SOD and GSH in group A have decreased significantly(P < 0.05) . There were significant differences in SOD and GSH between group B and groups A and C,and MDA in group B increased significantly compared with group A(P < 0.05) . SOD showed significant correlations with MMP-9 and TIMP-1(P < 0.05), while no correlation with MMP-3 (P > 0.05) . There were negative correlations of GSH with MMP-3 and MMP-9(P < 0.05),while was significant positive correlation with TIMP-1(P < 0.05) . Conclusion MMPs were closely related to the oxidative stress disorder in rheumatoid patients with carotid atherosclerosis, which promote the incidence of carotid artery atherosclerosis. Objective To investigate the correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and inflammatory factors in patients with rheumatoid and its clinical significance. Methods 92 patients with rheumatoid were divided into non- carotid atherosclerosis group (group A 45 cases), and carotid artery (group B 47 cases), while 40 cases of healthy people were selected as a control group ( group C) . Serum levels of TNF- a, IL-17, CRP, IMT and ICAM-1, VCAM-1 were detected. Results Serum levels of TNF-α, IL-17 of patients in A group were significantly higher than those in group C (P< 0.05), Serum levels of TNF-α, IL-17, CRP of of patients in group B were significantly different to group A and group C (P < 0.05). Serum levels of IMT, ICAM-1, VCAM-1 of A group were significantly higher than those in group C (P< 0.05), Serum levels of IMT, ICAM-1, VCAM-1 of group B were significantly higher than those in group A and group C (P<0.05) . Serum levels of TNF-α and IMT, ICAM-1, VCAM-1 showed a significant positive correlation (P<0.05), Serum levels of IL-17 and ICAM-1, VCAM-1 showed significant positive correlation (P< 0.05), Serum levels of CRP and IMT, ICAM-1, VCAM-1 showed no significant correlation (P>0.05). Conclusion Inflammatory cytokines and carotid atherosclerosis are closely related, and synergically promote the incidence of carotid artery atherosclerosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To explore the applicability of 20 rapidly mutating Y-chromosomal short tandem repeats (RM Y-STRs) in Chinese Han population of Sichuan province., Methods: Two RM Y-STR multiple amplification systems (RM1, including DYF404S1, DYF399S1, DYS547, DYS526a/b, DYS626, DYF403S1a/b, and DYS612, and RM2, including DYS1003, DYS1007, DYR88, DYS712, DYS711, DYS724, and DYF1002, with 14 RM Y-STR loci in total) and Y41SE-V1.2 (including 6 RM Y-STR loci of DYS627, DYS576, DYF387S1, DYS518, DYS570, and DYS449, 30 ordinary Y-chromosomal short tandem repeats [Y-STR] loci, and 1 Indel locus) were used for the amplification and typing of 200 unrelated males and 260 father-son pairs. The polymorphisms and mutation rates of 20 RM Y-STRs and 30 ordinary Y-STRs in Chinese Han population of Sichuan province were investigated and compared., Results: In the 200 unrelated males, the gene diversity (GD) of 20 RM Y-STR loci ranged from 0.7910 to 0.9975, and there were 200 haplotypes. Haplotype diversity (HD) was 1 and the discriminative capacity (DC) was 1. A total of 198 haplotypes were found in Y41se-v1.2 (the 30 Y-STRs), with 4 cases sharing two haplotypes, the haplotype diversity being 0.9999, and the discriminative capacity being 0.99. A total of 68 mutations were found at the 20 RM Y-STRs loci in the 260 father-son pairs, and there was slightly more increase than decrease of allele repeats (1.19∶1), with the mutation rate ranging from <3.85×10 -3 (95% C I : 0.00-1.41×10 -2 ) to 2.69×10 -2 (95% CI : 1.09×10 -2 -5.47×10 -2 ), and the average mutation rate being 1.19×10 -2 (95% CI : 9.20×10 -3 -1.51×10 -2 ). The 20 RM Y-STRs and the Y41SE-V1.2 (the 30 Y-STRs) could be used to distinguish 22.3% and 13.8% father-son pairs, respectively., Conclusion: The 20 RM Y-STRs have high gene and haplotype diversity and paternal lineage differentiation rate in Chinese Han population of Sichuan province, showing great potential for application in Chinese Han population of Sichuan province., (Copyright© by Editorial Board of Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Sciences).)

Objective: To investigate the effect of premature rupture of the membrane (PROM) on neonatal complications in premature infants., Methods: The registration information of 7684 preterm infants with gestational age <37 weeks were collected from the cooperative units in the task group between January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014. Specially trained personnel from each cooperative units filled in the unified form in a standardized format to record the gender, gestational age, birth weight, PROM, placental abruption, antenatal corticosteroid, Apgar score, amniotic fluid pollution, and complications of the infants. The data were analyzed comparatively between the cases with PROM and those without (control)., Results: The preterm mortality rate was significantly lower but the incidences of ICH, NEC, ROP and BPD were significantly higher in PROM group than in the control group (P<0.05). The 95% confidence interval of the OR value was <1 for mortality, and was >1 for ICH, NEC, ROP and BPD. After adjustment for gestational age, birth weight, gender, mode of delivery, placental abruption, placenta previa, prenatal hormones, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), gestational period hypertension and 5-min Apgar score <7, the incidences of NEC, ROP and BPD were significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05) with 95% confidence interval of OR value >1, but the mortality rate and incidence of ICH were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05)., Conclusion: PROM is a risk factor for NEC, ROP and BPD in preterm infants, and adequate intervention of PROM can reduce the incidences of such complications as NEC, ROP and BPD in the infants.
