This publication is a fragment of the memoirs of M.V. Neustrueva (1885–1961), written in the mid-second half of the 1950s, and opens a cycle of two articles, the first of which, “Lyosha and Manichka,” deals primarily with the first period of the memoirist’s acquaintance with the future writer A.N. Tolstoy, dating from the late 1890s to the middle of 1900s. In her memoirs, Neustrueva describes her acquaintance and meetings with Tolstoy, amateur performances in which they took part together, and several episodes dating back to the time when Tolstoy had already become a student and was returning to Samara on vacation. The publication accompanies the memoirs of Maria Neustrueva with an introductory article, which reconstructs the biography of the memoirist and the history of her work on them using available sources. Memoirs of M.V. Neustrueva are published for the first time.

One of the significant events of 1937 in the USSR was the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the death of A. S. Pushkin, which contributed to attracting the attention of Soviet citizens to the life and work of the poet. The purpose of this work is to examine the process of organizing and holding Pushkin Days in settlements of the Omsk region. The choice of the region is connected with the coverage of a large territory, which was inhabited by different populations. The research is based on a number of unpublished documents from the funds of the Historical Archive of the Omsk region, as well as materials of the periodical press of the Omsk region for 1936–1937. In conclusion, it is noted that the celebration of the anniversary of the poet’s death significantly influenced the development of cultural life in the USSR, helped to attract the population to the problem of illiteracy, attracted the indigenous population of Siberia to participate in the event.

The purpose of the work is to investigate the artistic and creative activities of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic "INSO-Lviv" in the context of the development of modern classical musical art and cultural trends mediated by the dynamics of socio-cultural processes. The research methodology includes interdisciplinary and systemic approaches, as well as scientific methods: analytical, art history, culture studies, with the help of which the research goal was achieved and the conclusions obtained. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time the artistic and creative activity of the Academic Symphony Orchestra "INSO-Lviv" is considered in the projection of the development of modern classical music and modern cultural creation, and the main creative achievements of the collective are outlined. Conclusions. Academic symphony orchestra "INSO-Lviv" continues to develop, maintaining high performance skills and expanding its creative horizons, while making a significant contribution to the modern cultural and creative process and forming a high level of Ukrainian musical culture and drawing the attention of the international community to the war in Ukraine. The "INSO-Lviv" orchestra is an important element of the cultural life of Lviv and Ukraine, which contributes to the enrichment of the country's cultural life. Their high skill, wide repertoire and active participation in international projects make them one of the leading musical groups in Ukraine. Thanks to its activities, the orchestra promotes the popularization of classical and modern music, supports cultural initiatives and is an important part of the musical world. The orchestra also plays a key role in the festival cultural life of Ukraine, being not only a participant in many important musical events, but also actively contributing to the development of current cultural trends. The transformation of local areas to a tourism destination requires high awareness and perception of local community about the tourism activities and the consequences evolved of this involvement including the economic changes. This study examines the level of awareness of local communities regarding their role in the development of tourism in their city, particularly in rural areas since the transformation to a tourism destination was made by the governmental arrangements. A quantitative research approach was used. The population formed the local community of the city. A simple random sample composed of 700 citizens was selected to represent different community categories. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire was measured through a pilot sample. The results show the high validity and reliability of the data collection tool. The findings indicate that citizens were satisfied with the tourism development but expressed concern about its impact on their culture and privacy. The level of participation was found to be insufficient due to a lack of awareness of their role in the process. Negative perceptions regarding the quality of life also hindered their participation in local area development. The study recommends the official organization of the city's conversion to a tourism destination, including improvements in infrastructure and greater participation from locals.

This article explores the scientific expedition of Abd El Razzaq Ibn Hamadouch to the Farthest Almaghrib (Morocco) during the Ottoman era. The journey was significant as it allowed Ibn Hamadouch to gain knowledge from scholars, record historical events, and compare the customs and traditions of the Farthest Almaghrib with those of Algeria. The journey enriched the library of travel accounts and contributed to the history of Algeria and the Farthest Almaghrib. Ibn Hamadouch's scholarly journey provides valuable insights into the political, economic, social, and cultural conditions of Algeria and Morocco, highlighting their similarities and differences. Scholars during the Islamic ages played a significant role in the development of society, culture, and various other fields including economy, science, literature and arts etc. With the fragmentation of Abbasid caliphate, various rulers became independent and formed parallel caliphates, and adopted their own approaches towards development. Andalusian emirate is one such independent kingdom in southern Spain, which disowned its diligence to the Islamic caliphate, and adopted its own approaches to the development of the region. The Yörüks are the nomadic extensions of the present steppe culture in the geography of Turkestan, living in Anatolia and Rumelia. The majority of the nomads living in Antalya continued to live the nomadic lifestyle that they had been living for hundreds of years after they came to Anatolia as cyclic nomads on the axis of barracks and plateaus at the beginning of the 20th century. This lifestyle of the Yörüks, who mainly keep small cattle, is built on a mobile structure. The basis of the study is Tevfik Macid's five articles about the Yörüks, published between September 1, 1927 and January 1, 1928, by the Yeni Fikir Journal published in Konya under the title of "Anatolian Tribes' Mothers and Customs: Yörüks in Antalya Province ". This article series in Yeni Fikir Magazine consists of articles describing the original and traditional lives of the Yörüks living in Antalya. In the articles, original details about the customs, traditions, human relations, food, marriages, arts and lifestyles of the Yörüks are provided. Considering that Tevfik Macid lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Republic, this study, which deals with the cultural life of the Yörüks in Antalya, which has a dense Yörük population in Turkey during the transition period from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, is important for Yörüks and Yörük culture. In this study, the articles written in Ottoman paleography were transcribed, and then document analysis, a qualitative research method, was used to remain as faithful as possible to the originals. The Chicago school of architecture is the theme of this symposium publication, yet, is this theme not a Gordian knot of history that one can only tighten and never unwind? Since the 1960s, many architec- tural historians have felt frustrated when interpreting the meaningof the term “Chicago school” because it seemed fragmented and too ambiguous. However, would this seemingly troubling ambiguity not be a significant and all the more interesting phenomenon to study? How does such a world of parallel variants and alternatives come into existence? Is history shaped by just one or by multiple simultaneous authors, and by the changing tastes of their audiences? In this lec- ture, I attempt to answer exactly these questions. The lecture revisits the meaning of the term Chicago school in the public discourse, and it proposes a new theory to interpret questions of ambiguity, poly- semy, and semantic change. How did writers and readers shape the meaning of the Chicago school? And why did the term persist and prevail undisturbed by historical breaks? In light of the new theory, it can be concluded that the Chicago school did not rise to fame because someone in the nineteenth century foresaw the future, but because large-scale dissemination and reception transforms individual creativity into collective strategy.

This research paper aims to examine the impact of Covid 19 on older people's cultural lives. In the first section, the study provides a discussion on physical isolation caused by Covid and in the second part analyses museums' digital adaptation strategies and reopening plans capacities. Museums have adapted to the COVID-19 restrictions by offering older people digital alternatives and creative aging programs, from virtual museum tours to nature journaling programs. However, it appears that digital inclusion programs are not as fulfilling and exciting as traditional ways of involving senior citizens in museum life, such as volunteering and leadership programs. The Covid-19 pandemic has put a strain on the health system, as well as the social, economic, and cultural ones at the Global level. After the pandemic, the risk is that the process of inclusion of persons with disabilities is grinding to a halt. But the chance is to find new ideas. This paper will define a brief but significant framework of principles that should be taken into consideration in order to support strategies of inclusion of people with disabilities in the fields of health care and cultural life, especially through the research.

The COVID-19 pandemic has generated many changes in the way people used to carry out their lives. In order to protect people's health and overcome the crisis, governments implemented specific measures that reflected negatively on fundamental human rights. Thus, in this paper we provide a literature review on the impact of measures implemented by countries on human rights, and we argue that in the attempt to ensure the right to health, other rights of people were neglected and restricted. In this regard, the paper addresses the subject of limiting the right to freedom, the right to education, the right to participate to cultural life, and we also describe the issue of the vaccine prioritization process that raises questions related to the discrimination of certain people. The paper also highlights the fact that, even if countries tried to promote prosocial behaviour and encourage people to be willing to get vaccinated, by offering benefits to vaccinated people, individuals who refused the vaccine were discriminated. Therefore, by emphasizing the way the measures implemented by countries restricted people’s rights, the paper draws attention to the fairness and equity of such measures and also supports the idea that even in special situations like the ones generated by a pandemic, governments should elaborate response strategy plans meant to protect human rights, not limit them.

After the Second World War, great changes took place in the cultural field. The CPY has turned the changes that have taken place in the field of educational and cultural policy into an instrument for achieving ideological goals and spreading one's own political ideas. A significant part of the cultural and artistic life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, northeastern Bosnia, and Tuzla took place through sections of societies that were mainly labeled national, workers', officials, rural and school amateurs. Cultural activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina were partly carried out through national cultural and educational societies, among Bosniaks „Preporod“, among Serbs „Prosvjeta“, and among Croats „Napredak“. Founded with the aim of educating the people and creating intelligence in their national corps, the societies eventually expanded their activities to organize illiteracy courses, establish libraries, reading rooms, cooperatives, cultural sections, and engage in publishing. National cultural and educational societies quickly came under attack from the state, where the cultural and educational work of societies began to be centralized with the formation of district and city associations of cultural and educational societies, and the final liquidation of national cultural and educational societies took place in March 1949. In addition to the renewed national societies, cultural and artistic activities were also performed by singing choirs, theater and artistic groups that were founded during the war, and workers' cultural and artistic societies began to be established. One of them is the workers' cultural and artistic association „Mitar Trifunović-Učo“, founded in 1945 in Tuzla. The society was named after a hero and a famous fighter for workers' rights, who gave his life for freedom. The action committee for founding the company consisted of: president Aljo Mutevelić, treasurer Pašaga Bećirbašić, secretary Hashim Mutevelić and two councilors Mustafa Tinjić and Mehmedalija Hukić. In the first five months, the company „Mitar Trifunović Učo“ gave six performances. During 1946, the workers' cultural and artistic association „Mitar Trifunović-Učo“ had notable performances at performances and concerts. In 1947, this society gave numerous events and participated in various ceremonies, and among others visited the builders of the Šamac-Sarajevo railway, participated in the opening ceremony of the Stupari-Kladanj railway, and had several guest appearances in Banovići, Zenica and Zavidovići, then Tešanj and Teslić. In 1948, the workers' cultural and artistic association „Mitar Trifunović-Učo“ had 39 performances. The beginning of 1948 was a turning point in the work of this society. At the beginning of 1948, the company organized its management, organized better work in all its sections, so that each section got its own manager. In addition, the material conditions were arranged, the necessary inventory, clothes and technical material were procured. The work of the society had almost completely died down since September 1948. No section of this society worked, only the choir and orchestra somehow performed, starting to get ready when it was time to go to festivals or festivals. The society was without any of its premises, also without the heads of individual sections. Despite the assistance provided by the City Association to society, the work in the company was still unsatisfactory, which meant that the assistance of the City Association and the assistance of the Trade Union Council was not complete and that in the future the greatest attention had to be paid they threaten even greater activation of society. In 1949, new and more extensive tasks were set before the society, primarily the establishment and strengthening of the work of all sections, choir, drama, choreography, music, recitation and pioneer sections. In 1950, the workers' cultural and artistic association „Mitar Trifunović-Učo“ was proclaimed the best association of the Tuzla Basin. Sections of the society participated in numerous performances, of which singing and tamburitza at 6, folklore at 3 and theater at 6 performances. The company had four halls and one small room. During 1951, the cultural and artistic association „Mitar Trifunović-Učo“ had great difficulties with the premises. There was a move from the former Workers' Home to the former Croatian Home. As a result, the company did not work for several months. The years 1952 and 1953 were the years of great „Ucina“ successes. The biggest problem in the society was the development of social life in the society and only the revival of the membership, which came only for rehearsals, and then left, not staying in the premises of the society.

The paper presents an overview and analysis of the Gjirokastra National Folklore Festival (NFFoGj), one of the most important events in the cultural life of Albania. Global transformations that have affected all aspects of life have inevitably brought changes to traditional culture, traditional values and relations with the outside world, including across the Balkans. The majority of program issues were inspired by a common European practice of holding mass folklore events and measures aimed at nurturing and preserving cultural heritage. It is deeply connected to the process of revitalisation of old ritual practices and folk costume and to the socialisation of people who have professional and semi-professional associations with ethnic culture. Having analysed the materials collected in the run-up to the festival and during the event as well as during field studies in the Western Balkans in 1992–2019, I can acknowledge revitalisation of many, if not all, elements of folk culture. In this case revitalisation does not mean following the tradition literally, but rather an attempt to preserve it while adopting a modern perspective and advances in technology. The essential part of this process is the attempt to breathe new life into the components of traditional culture, and adapt them to the here and now. The NFFoGj has also become a major attempt to museificate the cultural heritage of the Albanians. Contests that have been held regularly over the past 70 years to reveal the best examples of folk art and support independent artists have encouraged interest in the roots of national culture and helped many generations not to forget what their predecessors valued. Thus, folk dance, music, songs and costume were reproduced – at times artificially – in various regions of the country to showcase the achievements of a locality (village, district, town, region) at the national festival as the main ritual cultural event.

The Nizari Isma'ili community of Iran during the time of Hassan Sabbah was modeled on the universal Isma'ili invitation before the Nizari period (old invitation), which was composed of various social groups and had its own cultural identity with signs such as scientific center, educational system and popularity of Persian language and some knowledge. During this period, the Nizaris of Iran were able to manage the economic situation of their society with the help of the Nizaris, war booty, taxation, and some civil activities in areas under their control. The Question of the present study is about the social, cultural, and economic life of the Nizari Isma'ili of Iran during the time of Hassan Sabbah. This study aims to show the evolution of the Nizari community of Iran in its early period. The research method is descriptive-analytical based on library resources. The results indicated that during the time of Hassan Sabbah, followers of different social classes were attracted to the Nizari invitation and were able to flourish the Iranian Nizari community in cultural aspects and stabilize it in economical aspects. Participation in culture life is an universal human right included in the International Convenants ratified by our State, in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and in the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union; whose promotion and protection is guaranteed in the Chapter of our Constitution reserved to the guiding principles of fundamental rights and duties with full normative force such as the cultural rights of literrary, artistic, scientific and thchnical creation and production or the right to direct participacion, individual or collective, in public affairs. It is therefore a duty of the State to give full effect within its internal legislation to the internationally ratified charter of cultural rights, to adopt whatever measures are necessary to adapt its legislation to Community Law and thereby contribute to fully fulfilling the guarantees contained in our Constitution. The article discusses the cultural revolution that took place in Sverdlovsk during the years of Perestroika and transformed rock-music, visual art, theatre, cinema, and literature. Hypothetically, these tendencies embodied not attempts to establish regional cultural identity but, on the contrary, artists’ striving to liberate themselves from regional and, more broadly, Soviet cultural models and invent new cultural languages of national and frequently global scope. The article interprets these transformations of culture as an idiosyncratic form of postcolonial development derivative of Russian internal colonization (Alexander Etkind). Resulting hybrid models were based on the conflation of the local and global, or rather representation of the local as the global. Such scenario of „entering the global culture“ turned out to be typical for post-Soviet culture in general, which explains wide popularity of the Sverdlovsk-born phenomena across Russia throughout the 1990s and 2000s. .

This essay deals with the preconditions of the emergence of art criticism center in Kamianets-Podilsky. Chronological borders cover the period of 19th and early 20th centuries. The investigation mentions cultural workers of the region, the participants of museum and local lore work, the associations of different directions, and the creative work that became the solid foundation for the formation of cultural art criticism center. The paper is dedicated to an extraordinary personality of Slovak history in the struggle for national emancipation - to dr. Ján Lajčiak. His moral strength of theologian, philosopher, and thinker lies primarily in the Christian conviction on the power of spirituality carried by culture. The 100th anniversary of the publication of his original work Slovakia and Culture (1921) is an opportunity to celebrate its significance, which testifies the theoretical maturity of dr. Lajčiak's realistic and critic approach to contemporary social events in Slovakia. Through systematic analysis of Slovak conditions and cultural life as a crucial component of the formation of national consciousness, he contributed to its humanitarian reflection and significantly entered the conscience of the nation in an effort to support its spiritual and moral uplift. His European insight and Slovak convictions and Slovak beliefs have contributed to the mediation and evaluation of historical contexts not only in national but also in wider Hungarian or European contexts and they appear to be of particular benefit. European nations colonized most of the African societies and as a result had political and economic power and control over these nations. With the western domination, the colonists ruled the African nations and every other person was to obey their command. The colonizers introduced hegemonic educational system to Africans in which they were taught the European ethos without their studying African culture. Due to this hegemony, the European colonial masters imposed their culture on Africans and it succeeded in reshaping the cultural and political lives of Africans. Many Africans abandoned African customs and beliefs when they gained western education. Therefore due to this hegemony Africans lost their authentic/real selves and became adulterated. Their main concern becomes to create and recreate themselves through going back to their culture and origin. Through poststructuralist analysis of ‘Heavensgate’ and ‘Path Thunder’ in Labyrinths (1971), this paper explores how Christopher Okigbo, an African poet, embarked on a spiritual journey in quest of his primordial self and became an asserted poet. The paper aims at imploring Africans all over the world to follow the footprints of Okigbo in identifying their true selves for them to have meaningful lives.

The article discusses concerts organised by the prisoners of the Łódź Ghetto and presents them within the cultural context. The research focuses on concerts conducted by Teodor Ryder, with preserved posters and programmes used as sources. The preserved concert reviews written in the ghetto contribute to the better understanding of the events. The analysis of the discussed materials provides an opportunity to demonstrate the musical life in the ghetto and to answer the question about the role of music in the life of its citizens. The purpose of this study is to propose an efficient user experience of integrated applications by comparing and analyzing the usability of existing cultural content applications in Seoul. The study method was based on seven components of the honeycom model to conduct an interview and analyze for user experience measurements of existing applications. The results of the study summarized them in three ways. First, we need to organize a wide variety of information into categories in an easy-to-understand way. Second, making it easy to purchase tickets within the application. Finally, it is necessary to recommend cultural content that is suitable for me. To give superficial importance to the cultural aspect in the context of collective reparation, particularly to the effects caused in this area to groups and communities of victims, can have serious repercussions on the comprehensiveness of reparation and its transformative effect. In this sense, a reflection on collective reparation that takes as an essential postulate the inclusion of the cultural aspect in the process is necessary, which constitutes the main objective of this work. For this purpose, the theoretical notes of the cultural approach to development and other approaches that nurture it are methodologically picked up as key elements towards a resizing of collective reparation. Finally, this reparation allows enhancing their transformative claim and opens the door to local and community development processes to make possible both the agency of their rights as victims, as well as their rights as individuals and citizens. The weekly Przekrój [Cross-section] was the oldest, most prestigious high-circulation illustrated weekly published in Poland after the war. In this content analysis of its 1290 issues produced in Cracow between 1945 and 1969, under the editorship of Marian Eile, the focus is on the magazine's coverage of literature and the arts. The article analyzes the ways in which the Przekrój sought to inform its readers about current literary and artistic life, its book reviews and its handling of themes and figures of Polish literary history. In 1940, Jewish actors who used to play in Bucharest theatres, marginalized and excluded from Romanian cultural life, founded Barașeum, a Jewish theatre which was allowed to perform only in Romanian. For four years, between 1941 and 1945, the spirit of Yiddish theatre survived through Barașeum. Many important plays were staged and many intellectuals, both Jewish or not Jewish, attended. This paper presents the music critiques by Géza Csáth which are focused on the activity of Hungarian composer and music pedagogue Ernő Lányi in Subotica. The critiques were published in the daily newspapers Bácskai Hírlap in Subotica, and in Budapest, in Budapesti Napló, Polgár and A Hét, as well as in the literary journal Nyugat. In conclusion the authors estimated Lányi's real importance for the music life in Subotica, the artistic value of his compositions, as well as the question of the objectivity of Csáth's opinion about them.
