- Abstract
In this paper, we address the unique nature of fully textured, high surface-to-volume 3C-SiC films, as produced by intrinsic growth anisotropy, in turn generated by the high velocity of the stacking fault growth front in two-dimensional (111) platelets. Structural interpretation of high resolution scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy data is carried out for samples grown in a hot-wall low-pressure chemical vapour deposition reactor with trichlorosilane and ethylene precursors, under suitable deposition conditions. By correlating the morphology and the X-ray diffraction analysis we also point out that twinning along (111) planes is very frequent in such materials, which changes the free-platelet configuration.

- Abstract
In this review paper, several new approaches about the 3C‐SiC growth are been presented. In fact, despite the long research activity on 3C‐SiC, no devices with good electrical characteristics have been obtained due to the high defect density and high level of stress. To overcome these problems, two different approaches have been used in the last years. From one side, several compliance substrates have been used to try to reduce both the defects and stress, while from another side, the first bulk growth has been performed to try to improve the quality of this material with respect to the heteroepitaxial one. From all these studies, a new understanding of the material defects has been obtained, as well as regarding all the interactions between defects and several growth parameters. This new knowledge will be the basis to solve the main issue of the 3C‐SiC growth and reach the goal to obtain a material with low defects and low stress that would allow for realizing devices with extremely interesting characteristics.

Design and anthropology represent two intertwined disciplines, which historically have found fruitful opportunities for comparison and elements of contact; in light of the social changes that are strongly influencing also the design field, today more than ever these two disciplines are called to question themselves again, with a critical and future-oriented approach, to renew their fields of investigation by enhancing each other's interferences, strategies of collaboration and possible common challenges. In particular, the paper aims to adopt a projective perspective, investigating the present as a time open to the future, a moving "edge". In fact, more and more frequently we wonder what the perspective is for "the anthropology of the future" (Bryant and Knight, 2019), taking a position similar to those design-oriented approaches promoting "the uncertain and the possibility" (Akama et al., 2018) as well as "fragilisms" as vectors of innovation. The analysis will focus on the role of public anthropology as a privileged interlocutor to those engaged in design; on the enhancement of suburbs as a territory of "residual authenticity" and creative "indiscipline" (Vattimo 1988, p. XI); on the centrality of a micro approach to urban regeneration, as well as on the examples of widespread and inclusive regeneration that see the inhabitants as co-authors, where individuals are not mere bearers of culture and values, but also creators of new culture and projects. The goal is to outline a synergy that looks to the future of action-research on the peripheries starting from margins, diversities, hybrids, creativity and the informal. Furthermore, we will analyze the prospects of urban regeneration in a post-anthropocentric era. The paper, starting from some recent case studies that mainly involved the Milan area, thus intends to underline and enhance the disciplinary links between anthropology and design, but also their "exchanges, entanglements and frictions" (Bargna and Santanera, 2020), and, in a proactive perspective still to be validated, some possible opportunities of implementation – of tools, practices, policies – for a renewed dialogue between these two disciplines

- Abstract
We present an investigation of the structural quality of arrays of 3C-SiC micropillars and microridges grown epitaxially on deeply etched Si(0 0 1) substrates offcut towards [1 1 0]. Using high resolution X-ray diffraction with reciprocal space mapping and optical as well as scanning electron microscopy, we obtain information about the stacking fault (SF) formation in different crystallographic directions. The SF density is strongly correlated with the microcrystal size and orientation and a reduction of the SF density is found in the [1 1 1] and [1 −1 1] directions. No variation of the average SF size was detected for varying SiC microcrystal size and shape.

- Abstract
In this work, the annihilation mechanism of stacking faults (SFs) in epitaxial 3C-SiC layers grown on Si(001) substrates is studied by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The evolution of SFs located in the crossing (1̄11) and (11̄1) glide planes is considered. This evolution is determined by the interaction of 30° leading partial dislocations (PDs) limiting the stacking faults under the slightly compressive (∼0.45%) strain condition during the 3C-SiC layer growth. It is characterized in key terms: the distance between the PDs and the mutual orientation of their Burgers vectors. Two SF annihilation scenarios are revealed. In the first scenario, two PDs with opposite screw components of Burgers vectors, leading the SFs located in the (1̄11) and (11̄1) planes, are close enough (∼15 nm or less) and attract each other. As a result, the propagation of both SFs is suppressedviathe formation of a Lomer-Cottrell lock at their intersection. In the second scenario, two PDs are far away one from the other (beyond ∼15 nm) and do not interact, or they repulse each other having equal screw components of their Burgers vectors. In this case, the propagation of only one of the SFs is suppressed. Obtained results explain the mechanism of SF annihilation and formation of SF intersection patterns experimentally observed by TEM investigations. They will provide important implications for the elaboration of advanced methods for the reduction of SF concentrations in epitaxial 3C-SiC layers on Si substrates.

Background: Psoriasis (Ps) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease associated with pruritus in 64–98% of patients. However, few modestly sized studies assess factors associated with psoriatic pruritus. Objective: To investigate factors associated with Ps pruritus intensity. Methods: Psoriasis patients 18years or older seen in one of 155 centres in Italy between September 2005 and 2009 were identified from the Italian PsoCare registry. Patients without cutaneous psoriasis and those with missed information on pruritus were excluded. Results: We identified 10802 patients, with a mean age 48.8±14.3years. Mild itch was present in 33.2% of patients, moderate in 34.4%, severe in 18.7% and very severe in 13.7%. Higher itch intensity was associated with female gender, lower educational attainment compared to university degree, pustular psoriasis, psoriasis on the head, face, palmoplantar areas, folds and genitalia, more severe disease, disease duration

- Abstract
The cubic polytype of SiC (3C-SiC) is the only one that can be grown on silicon substrate with the thickness required for targeted applications. However, the crystalline quality of 3C-SiC on silicon has to be improved in order to benefit from the intrinsic 3C-SiC properties. In this project new approaches for the reduction of defects will be used and new compliance substrates that can help to reduce the stress and the defect density at the same time will be explored. Numerical simulations will be applied to optimize growth conditions and reduce stress in the material. The structure of the final devices will be simulated using the appropriated numerical tools where new numerical model will be introduced to take into account the properties of the new material. Thanks to these simulations tools and the new material with low defect density, several devices that can work at high power and with low power consumption will be realized within the project.

- Abstract
3C-SiC is a promising material for low-voltage power electronic devices but its growth is still challenging. Heteroepitaxy of 3C-SiC on Si micrometer-sized pillars is regarded as a viable method to achieve high crystalline quality, minimizing the effects of lattice and thermal expansion mismatch. Three-dimensional micro-crystals with sharply-faceted profiles are obtained, eventually touching with each other to form a continuous layer, suspended on the underlying pillars. By comparing experimental data and simulation results obtained by a phase-field growth model, here we demonstrate that the evolution of the crystal morphology occurs in a kinetic regime, dominated by the different incorporation times on the crystal facets. These microscopic parameters, effective to characterize the out-of-equilibrium growth process, are estimated by a best-fitting procedure, matching simulation profiles to the experimental one at different deposition stages. Then, simulations are exploited to inspect the role of a different pillar geometry and template effects are recognized. Finally, coalescence of closely spaced crystals ordered into an hexagonal array is investigated. Two possible alignments of the pattern are compared and the most convenient arrangement is evaluated.

- Abstract
The stacking faults (SFs) in 3C-SiC epitaxially grown on ridges deeply etched into Si(001) substrates offcut towards [110] were quantitatively analyzed by electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. A significant reduction of SF density with respect to planar material was observed for the {111} planes parallel to the ridges. The highest SF density was found in the (-1-11) plane. A previously observed defect was identified as twins by electron backscatter diffraction.

- Abstract
The growth morphology of epitaxial 3C-SiC crystals grown on hexagonal pillars deeply etched into Si(111) substrates is presented. Different growth velocities of side facets let the top crystal facet evolve from hexagonal towards triangular shape during growth. The lateral size and separation between Si pillars determine the onset of fusion between neighboring crystals during growth at a height tailoring of which is crucial to reduce the stacking fault (SF) density of the coalesced surface. A density of 3400 cm-1 was observed for a coalesced surface, compared to 8100 cm-1 for layers grown on unpatterned area. Intermediate partial fusion of neighboring crystals is shown as well as a surface of fully coalesced crystals.

The heteroepitaxial growth of 3C-SiC on Si(001) and Si(111) substrates deeply patterned at a micrometer scale by low-pressure chemical vapor deposition is shown to lead to space-filling isolated structures resulting from a mechanism of self-limitation of lateral expansion. Stacking fault densities and wafer bowing may be drastically reduced for optimized pattern geometries.

SummaryBackground The nationwide prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in Italian patients with psoriasis has never been investigated. Objectives To estimate the nationwide prevalence of LTBI in Italian patients with psoriasis who are candidates for systemic treatment. Methods Data were obtained from the Psocare Registry on those patients (n = 4946) with age > 18 years, systemic treatment at entry specified and tuberculin skin test (TST) performed according to the Mantoux method. LTBI diagnosis was based on a positive TST result in the absence of any clinical, radiological or microbiological evidence of active tuberculosis. Results Latent tuberculosis infection was diagnosed in 8·3% of patients with psoriasis (409 of 4946). The prevalence of LTBI was lower in patients on biologics than in those on conventional systemic treatments, ranging from 4·3% (19 of 444) of patients on adalimumab to 31% (eight of 26) of those on psoralen–ultraviolet A (P

BIO/16 - ANATOMIA UMANA ,Epothilone B, Peripheral toxicity, Animal model - Abstract
Epothilones are a novel class of microtubule-targeting anticancer agents that have a similar mechanism of action to the taxanes (i.e. polymerization of tubulin dimers into microtubules and stabilization of preformed microtubules) but show antiproliferative activity in taxane-resistant tumor cells. In order to study the epothilone B (EpoB)-induced neurotoxicity in clinical practice we have investigated the EpoB toxic effect in vitro and we have characterized in vivo his general and neurological side effects in the Wistar and Fischer rats. The in vitro experiment performed in Dorsal Root Ganglia explants showed a dose-dependent effect of EpoB exposure on neurite elongation; concentrations equal to 50nM or higher induced a significant reduction in neurite elongation after 24h and this effect was even more severe after 48h. A dose-dependent neurotoxic effect was confirmed in both in vivo studies. In these models EpoB peripheral neurotoxicity was investigated with neurophysiological, behavioral (Hot plate test) and pathological (morphologic and morphometric analysis, Intraepidermal Nerve Fibers density) methods. Moreover, in order to evidence the EpoB effect at the molecular level we focused on tubulin and myelin proteins. All the results consistently demonstrated that EpoB was more toxic in Fischer than in Wistar rats at the general and neurological levels in the dose range 0,25-1,5 mg/kg. Our results describing the dose-dependent neurological effects of EpoB and demonstrating that tubulin hyper-polimerization occurs at neurotoxic doses can be a solid basis for future studies

Background: Some studies have shown that switching patients from one tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alfa inhibitor to another may be beneficial when they have an inadequate response or an adverse event. Objective: We sought to assess the variables predicting the efficacy of the second TNF-alfa inhibitor in patients discontinuing the first TNF-alfa inhibitor. Methods: Data from all 5423 consecutive patients starting TNF-alfa inhibitor therapy for psoriasis between September 2005 and September 2010 who were included in the Italian Psocare registry were analyzed. Results: In 105 patients who switched to a second TNF-alfa inhibitor who had complete follow-up data, 75% improvement in the Psoriasis Area Severity Index score (PASI 75) was reached by 29% after 16 weeks and by 45.6% after 24 weeks. Patients who switched because of secondary loss of efficacy (loss of initial PASI 75 response) or adverse events/intolerance were more likely to reach PASI 75 than those who switched as a result of primary inefficacy (PASI 75 never achieved) (hazard ratio 2.7, 95% confidence interval 1.3-5.5 vs hazard ratio 2.0, 95% confidence interval 1.0-3.9 and 1, respectively). Limitations: There was a small number of patients with complete follow-up data. Conclusion: PASI 75 response in patients who switched from one antie-TNF-alfa agent to another was significantly reduced in patients who showed primary inefficacy of the first antie-TNF-alfa.

- Abstract
The heteroepitaxial growth of 3C-SiC on Si(001) and Si(111) substrates deeply patterned at a micrometer scale by low-pressure chemical vapor deposition is shown to lead to space-filling isolated structures resulting from a mechanism of self-limitation of lateral expansion. Stacking fault densities and wafer bowing may be drastically reduced for optimized pattern geometries.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate variations in laboratory parameters and diagnoses of selected clinical conditions up to 16 weeks after starting a new systemic psoriasis treatment for Psocare Registry enrollees. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. SETTING: Italian public referral centres for psoriasis treatment. PATIENTS: First-time recipients (n = 10,539) of continuous systemic psoriasis treatment for at least 16 weeks. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Mean variations in (weeks 8 and 16) and proportions of patients reaching a clinically meaningful increase in serum levels (week 16) of total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, aspartate amino transferase, alanine amino transferase and creatinine, as well as week-16 cumulative incidences of new diagnoses of diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension. RESULTS: Mean cholesterol and triglyceride levels significantly increased in patients treated with acitretin or cyclosporine. Mean triglyceride levels also increased in efalizumab- and etanercept-treated patients. Mean transaminase values increased in methotrexate-treated patients, and mean aspartate amino transferase levels increased in infliximab-treated patients. The average serum creatinine value increased in cyclosporine-treated patients. Acitretin and cyclosporine were associated with risk of hypercholesterolaemia (odds ratios 1.51 and 1.34) and acitretin with risk of hypertriglyceridaemia (odds ratio 1.43). Methotrexate and infliximab were associated with risk of more than doubling the upper normal aspartate amino transferase (odds ratios 2.06 and 1.87) and alanine amino transferase (odds ratios 2.38 and 1.74) values. The relative risk of developing arterial hypertension and diabetes was increased for patients receiving cyclosporine (odds ratios 3.31 and 2.88). CONCLUSION: Systemic treatments for psoriasis resulted in heterogeneous effects on the parameters analysed.

- Abstract
We show that geometric shielding of the reactive flux in chemical vapor deposition by tall neighboring structures obtained by deep substrate patterning, along with short surface diffusion lengths, can provide nearly space filling arrays of high-quality epitaxial crystals despite large mismatches of lattice parameters and thermal expansion coefficients. The density of extended defects is strongly reduced by the method, and wafer bowing and crack formation largely inhibited. The concept is shown to be valid for SiGe/Si heterostructures ranging from pure Si to pure Ge both on Si(001) and Si(111) substrates. Here, dislocations are efficiently eliminated from three-dimensional faceted crystals with high-aspect ratios on top of micron-sized Si pillars. The application to 3C-SiC/Si(001) ridges, characterized by a lattice mismatch of nearly 20%, provides significantly lower stacking fault densities compared with layers grown on planar substrates

- Abstract
The growth rate of 4H-SiC epi layers has been increased up to 100 OEºm/h with the use of trichlorosilane instead of silane as silicon precursor. The epitaxial layers grown with this process have been characterized by electrical, optical and structural characterization methods. Schottky diodes, manufactured on the epitaxial layer grown with trichlorosilane at 1600 ¬?C, have higher yield and lower defect density in comparison to diodes realized on epilayers grown with the standard epitaxial process. ¬© (2009) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
