This study aims to identify the way in which the motivational climate generated by Physical Education (PE) teachers influences engagement in prosocial-altruistic behaviour in a sample of 714 12-to-18-year-old Spaniards adolescents. To this end, the following objectives were proposed: (1) to identify the types of motivational climates established by teachers in PE classes and their impact on facilitating or limiting student engagement in altruistic prosocial behaviours, and (2) to examine the existence of gender differences and describe whether they are also influenced by the climates generated by teachers. A descriptive, non-randomized and relational research design was employed. The students were applied instruments for the 3 × 2 motivational climate and prosocial behavior in relation to their experiences in physical education classes. Findings reveal that an other-oriented climate, whether approach or avoidance oriented, reduces engagement in altruistic prosocial activities in the physical education classroom. Data analysis lead to the conclusion that a more comparative and negatively competitive perception (climates oriented towards how I perform in front of others) decreases engage-ment in altruistic prosocial behaviour, mainly in boys, promoting instead rivalry and competitive behaviour. Existe un interés creciente por los aspectos motivacionales en los practicantes de deportes de combate y artes marciales por la singularidad de estas modalidades deportivas. El objetivo de este estudio fue establecer las relaciones entre las variables descriptivas y el clima motivacional de los deportistas que practican deportes de combate y artes marciales. Este estudio transversal se realizó en 303 deportistas que practican deportes de combate y artes marciales en España. El clima motivacional se evaluó utilizando los cuestionarios de clima motivacional (PMCSQ-2). Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas entre el clima motivacional y el género, el IMC, las etapas de desarrollo, el nivel de competencia y para los deportistas retirados; sin embargo, no se encontraron diferencias significativas para los sujetos retirados con respecto a aquellos que continuaron compitiendo y las horas semanales de práctica. Estos resultados parecen sugerir la conveniencia de utilizar estrategias diferenciadas, según sexo, edad, nivel de competición o para los deportistas que llevan un periodo de tiempo retirados a la hora de trabajar los factores protectores que podrían permitir aumentar el disfrute o el rendimiento en los DC y AM.

Actualmente, el estudio de la motivación dentro del ámbito físico deportivo es un tema muy estudiado al igual que las variables físico-saludables en la población joven. Es por ello que la presente investigación muestra el objetivo de estudiar las relaciones existentes entre el clima motivacional, práctica de actividad física y adherencia a la dieta mediterránea en docentes de educación física en formación. Para ello se ha llevado a cabo un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en una muestra compuesta por un total de 558 participantes (M=21.37±0.35). Para la recogida de los datos se han empleado un cuestionario ad hoc, el Cuestionario del Clima Motivacional Percibido en el Deporte-2 (PMCSQ-2) y el cuestionario PREDIMED. Los datos revelan que el clima tarea y el clima ego se correlacionan positivamente con la práctica de actividad física, sin embargo, se observa que el clima motivacional juega un papel clave para llevar a cabo una adherencia positiva a un patrón dietético saludable.

Analyzing motivational climates from the perspective of the Duda et al. (2018) model, the main objective of this work was to know if the autonomous and controlled motivation of athletes can be influenced by the motivational climate (empowering and disempowering) generated by the coach, through the three basic psychological needs (satisfied and thwarted). The sample consisted of 542 young athletes aged 11 to 16 years (M = 14.07, SD = 1.28). The results confirm that the empowering climate is positively and significantly related to the satisfaction of each of the basic psychological needs, and these in turn are positively and significantly related to autonomous motivation, and the mediating effect of the three basic psychological needs was also confirmed. On the other hand, disempowering climate is positively and significantly related to the frustration of each of the basic psychological needs, and these, in turn, are positively and significantly related to controlled motivation; only the mediating effect of the frustration of the need for competence and relatedness was confirmed. El objetivo general de investigación fue determinar la relación entre el clima de aprendizaje y el compromiso académico en estudiantes de Educación Superior de una institución privada de Lima Metropolitana. El diseño de investigación fue no experimental descriptivo correlacional. La población estuvo conformada por 1.925 estudiantes de las carreras de Arquitectura y Psicología. La muestra, de 260 universitarios con edades de 16 a 28 años, de ambos sexos, fue no probabilística, calculada por medio de la fórmula de determinación para muestras finitas. Se utilizaron como instrumentos el cuestionario de Clima de aprendizaje, integrado por 15 ítems y para la variable compromiso académico de los universitarios, el cuestionario Utretch Work Engagement Scale for Students (UWES-S), conformado por nueve ítems. Los resultados indican una relación significativa y alta, entre el compromiso académico y el clima de aprendizaje (p < 0.001). Se concluye que un buen clima de aprendizaje garantizará un mayor compromiso académico.

El rol que ejercen los docentes a la hora de estructurar el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje es esencial para establecer un adecuado clima motivacional de clase. En consecuencia, crear un clima motivacional de aula positivo está considerado una herramienta metodológica esencial para mejorar el rendimiento escolar y asegurar un buen aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio fue realizar una revisión sistemática sobre el clima motivacional de los estudiantes, así como establecer el estado actual de la cuestión y su relación con el rol docente. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda por título en la base de datos Web of Science, acotando los años entre el 2017 y 2021 y utilizando como palabras clave “motivational climate” y “physical education”. Se estableció una población de estudio de 56 estudios científicos, que tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión se delimitó la muestra de estudio en un total de 21 artículos. Los resultados pusieron de manifiesto que, dentro del aula, se aprecian diferentes orientaciones motivacionales entre el alumnado. Si bien, la manera de enseñar y en nexo existente entre docente-alumnado son aspectos esenciales para crear un clima motivacional exitoso. De forma concreta, una orientación motivacional hacia la tarea se asocia con unas mayores expectativas de futuro, así como con un mejor rendimiento académico de los estudiantes.

Introduction: The main objective of this work is to know the interrelation between the perception of empowering and disempowering climates generated by coaches (team level) with basic psychological needs satisfaction and frustration, and these in turn, with the intentions to continue and abandon sports practice (individual level) in young athletes. Method: 251 Mexican athletes participated (M = 13. 22, SD = 1.28) belonging to 19 teams. A battery of questionnaires was applied for data collection and a multilevel structured equation analysis was performed. Results: The structural equation model revealed positive associations between perceptions of empowering climates from a group perspective on the satisfaction of basic psychological needs and of these on intentions to continue practicing sports from an individual perspective; as well as between perceptions of a disempowering climate on the frustration of basic psychological needs and of these on intentions to drop out. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest at an applied level that the empowering climate acts as a catalyst of psychological well-being and as a protector against the occurrence of frustration, while the disempowering climate facilitates the development of maladaptive psychological responses in sport. El objetivo de esta investigación fue estudiar las actitudes sexistas ambivalentes de los entrenadores y entrenadoras hacia las mujeres y hacia los hombres y su relación con la percepción del clima motivacional que crean en sus equipos. Participaron 93 entrenadores y entrenadoras (varones 65%, n = 6 0 ; mujeres 35%, n = 3 3 ) de entre 19 y 65 años ( M = 3 2 , 5 ; DT = 10,4), quienes respondieron un cuestionario sociodemográfico, los cuestionarios de Sexismo Ambivalente (hacia la mujer y hacia el hombre) y el Cuestionario de Clima Motivacional Empowering y Disempowering creado por el Entrenador. Se realizaron comparaciones de grupo, análisis de conglomerados y correlaciones entre las variables estudiadas. Los resultados mostraron que no existe una diferencia significativa entre las actitudes sexistas en función del género. Sin embargo, al considerar la relación entre la autopercepción de las actitudes sexistas y el clima que crean en sus entrenamientos y competencias, se encontraron diferencias en función del género de los entrenadores. Las actitudes sexistas intentan mantener los roles de género tradicionales, con actitudes discriminatorias (hostiles) y con otras ocultas tras la protección (benevolentes). Estas actitudes se relacionan con climas motivacionales disempowering, que pueden ser obstaculizadores para el desarrollo positivo de los y las deportistas.

En la actualidad, la sociedad se enfrenta a numerosos problemas de salud (incremento en la prevalencia de enfermedades cardiovasculares, obesidad, depresión, estrés, ansiedad), que exigen la adopción de una serie de medidas encaminadas a aumentar el bienestar. A este respecto, está ampliamente demostrado que la práctica regular y sistemática de ejercicio físico provoca una serie de adaptaciones fisiológicas, morfológicas y funcionales que mejoran la salud psicobiológica de las personas. Los ámbitos educativo y extraescolar deben asumir parte de responsabilidad en la tarea de posibilitar el acceso a una mejor calidad de vida de los jóvenes adolescentes, cuyo estilo de vida es predominantemente sedentario, fomentando la creación de hábitos de vida activos y la adherencia a la práctica de actividad físico-deportiva. En este artículo se lleva a cabo una revisión exhaustiva de las estrategias a tener en cuenta entre docentes y responsables del deporte escolar para favorecer un clima de trabajo y esfuerzo que permita a los adolescentes aumentar su propia percepción de competencia y autoeficacia y, por tanto, se instituya el ejercicio físico como parte de la vida diaria de las personas.

El clima motivacional hacia el deporte, a través de la teoría de las metas de logro, representa uno de los factores psicosociales más estudiados en la práctica deportiva y en la docencia de la educación física, pues determinadas orientaciones podrán constituir estilos de vida activos más saludables. El presente estudio, realizado en una muestra de 490 estudiantes universitarios que cursan grado en Educación primaria, tiene como objetivo definir el clima motivacional hacia el deporte, así como establecer relaciones según el sexo y el tipo de población. Como instrumentos se empleó el cuestionario PMCSQ-2 (Newton, Duda, & Yin, 2000) y un cuestionario ad hoc para variables de tipo sociodemográfico. Se obtuvieron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en las dos dimensiones del clima motivacional según el sexo de los estudiantes, determinando que el clima tarea era más elevado en las mujeres y el clima ego en los hombres. Asimismo, se mostraron asociaciones estadísticas en todos sus factores excepto para el esfuerzo/mejora. Según el tipo de población, se reveló que los estudiantes universitarios que residían en poblaciones urbanas mostraban mayores puntuaciones en clima ego.

Nowadays, the education of interpersonal relations is one of the main challenges, attending to the diversity of students. The theory of achievement goals and the theory of self-determination offer criteria for relating motivational climate with school coexistence. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of an educational intervention with traditional games of cooperation-opposition (TGCOP) with competition, through cooperative learning and reflection on the motivational climate aimed at improving school coexistence. It was attended by 287 (M = 14.90; SD = 0.66) students from the third and fourth year of Secondary Education. A seven-session experience was conducted (an introductory session and six sessions using TGCOP) was carried out. At the beginning and end of the experience, the students answered the questionnaire on the motivational climate of peers in sport (PeerMCYSQ). The results showed significant differences between phases, with boys' values being higher in task, competition/ability and conflict factors. The present study seeks to define and contrast an explanatory model of motivational climate, school adjustment and family functioning, and to analyse the existing associations between the aforementioned variables through structural equation analysis. The sample includes 2,134 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years from the province of Granada. Motivational climate (PMCSQ-2), school adjustment (EBAE-10) and family functioning (APGAR) are analysed. A descriptive cross-sectional design is used and the program AMOS 23.0 is employed to construct the multi-group structural equation model. The model showed appropriate fit (X² = 241.34; df = 17; p < .001; CFI = .953; NFI = .950; IFI = .953; RMSEA = .079). The present study revealed that task-oriented motivational climates toward assignments generate higher levels of school adjustment within students. In fact, this same motivational climate is directly associated with family functioning, with these being considered positive variables for determining a good climate in the physical education classroom. On the other hand, an ego-oriented motivational climate was inversely related with school adjustment, without being linked to family functioning. All of this reveals the importance of promoting more self-determined types of motivation in the classroom, which encourage cooperation between group members, effort and personal improvement. The motivational climate in sports (Theory of Achievement Goals) as a psychosocial factor and adherence to the Mediterranean diet as a healthy factor are key to sports practice and teaching of Physical Education, since certain orientations may be styles of life. This descriptive and cross-sectional study, carried out in a sample of 490 university students, aims to establish the possible relationships between the motivational climate towards sports and adherence to the Mediterranean diet, using PMCSQ-2 and KIDMED. The results revealed statistically significant data for motivational climate according to the degree of adherence to the Mediterranean diet in cooperative learning factors and punishment for errors. The participants presented higher average values in the optimal diet with respect to cooperative learning, in terms of punishment for errors, is positively related to a very low quality diet. It is concluded that the students with goals of achievement in the sport oriented to the Task, can present better dietary patterns and those oriented to the Ego, present a diet of very low quality regarding the punishment factor for errors.

The comprehensive-cooperative learning hybrid model in sport increases the effects of both strategies separately and promotes a more comprehensive and meaningful learning for students. However is still little used in Physical Education (PE) and handball teaching. The participants in this study were 96 students, 31 in the experimental group and 65 in the control group, of 4th in Secondary Education. A quasi-experimental design was used with non-equivalent control group and pre-test and post-test measures to analyze the motivational climate variable. We used the perceived motivational climate in sport questionnaire-2 (PMCSQ-2). Non-parametric tests were applied (Wilcoxon and U of Mannwithney for related and for independent samples respectively).The results show significant differences (z = 2.88, p = 0.004) in the perceived motivational climate in experimental group versus control group, with similar records in the different elements of this variable. These data suggest that the hybrid model comprehensive-cooperative positively modifies student motivation and behavior towards PE classes and handball practice.

Se examinó la repercusión de la novedosa Liga Brave (2015) sobre las orientaciones de meta, el fair play, el esfuerzo, y la presión-tensión en 92 estudiantes de 2 colegios (grupo control: n = 45; grupo experimental: n = 47) con una media de edad de 10,38 años (DE =0,55). Durante 3 sesiones, el grupo control participó en una liga de fútbol sala tradicional, mientras que el grupo experimental participó en un sistema competitivo basado en el innovador formato de la Liga Brave (2015), donde las conductas de fair play determinan el orden en la clasificación. Se realizaron varias pruebas de contrastes de medias intra-sujetos, cuyos resultados reflejaron que el grupo experimental aumentó significativamente en la orientación a la tarea y en el esfuerzo percibido. Estos resultados sugieren que formatos competitivos como el que se propone podrían repercutir positivamente en la orientación a la tarea y en el esfuerzo durante las competiciones deportivas.

Psychological variables such as motivational climate, goal orientations, basic psychological sport needs and team cohesion have an influence on sports performance. This study aims at examining the relationships among that set of psychological variables (motivational climate, goal orientation, basic psychological sport needs and cohesion) in male and female footballers. Participants were 175 soccer players, aged 12 to 26 (M = 15.59, SD = 2.80), competing in different levels of the Spanish Football League. They all took four questionnaires aimed at evaluating the motivational climate (mastery and execution), goal orientations (task and ego-involving), psychological needs (for competence, autonomy and relation) and cohesion (group-task or group-social). The analyses of correlation and regression show significant statistic relations particularly that between mastery climate, task orientation and the three basic psychological needs in sport. Furthermore, the best variable in predicting psychological needs is mastery (involving) climate. In the present study, for the first time, a predictive model based on the intraindividual differences in physical education students' perceptions of the improvement climate, perceived competence, intrinsic motivation an effort prior and after a 1.000 meters athletics competition was conducted. 743 students (395 boys, 348 girls) agreed to participate. The hypothesized model (AImprovement climate • ACompetence • AIntrinsic Motivation • AEffort) did not show a good fit. Lagrange's test showed that a path should be added from improvement climate to motivation, and from perceived competence to effort. In the last step, intrinsic motivation prediction over effort was non-significant. The model fit improved significantly: SBX2 (576) = 1352.14p < .001, *CFI = .93, *RMSEA (90% CI) = .043 (.040, .046), SRMR = .07. Finally, results are discussed and future trends are proposed. La adolescencia es un periodo crítico en cuanto a la adquisición de patrones de práctica de actividad física que se mantengan durante la etapa adulta, por ello se considera de vital importancia analizar la motivación hacia la asignatura de Educación Física. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo conocer los parámetros de práctica de actividad física y de motivación hacia la asignatura de Educación Física, para analizar las relaciones existentes entre las variables. Participaron 2.134 estudiantes de edades comprendidas entre los 15 y los 18 años, evaluados mediante el cuestionario de Clima Motivacional (PMCQS-2) y una hoja de auto registro que midió las variables físico-deportivas. Los resultados mostraron que tanto los alumnos como las alumnas se orientan más hacia la tarea que hacia el ego, mostrando las chicas valores superiores en el clima tarea, y los chicos en el clima ego. Únicamente un tercio de ellos no practican actividad física, mientras que de los que sí lo hacen, en su mayoría practican deportes colectivos. Dos de cada diez adolescentes se encuentran federados en algún deporte, los varones practican deporte de forma federada en mayor número que las féminas. Abstract Adolescence is a critical regarding the acquisition of patterns of physical activity to be maintained into adulthood, is therefore considered vital to analyze the motivation for Physical Education period. This study aims to determine the parameters of physical activity and motivation towards the subject of Physical Education and analyze the relationships between variables. They involved 2,134 students aged between 15 and 18 years, assessed by questionnaire Motivational Climate (PMCQS-2) and a self-registration sheet which measured the physical and sports variables. The results showed that students are more oriented toward the task to the ego, the girls showing higher values in the job climate, and the guys on the ego climate. Only a third of them do not practice physical activity, while those who if they do, most team sports practice. Two out of ten teenagers are federated in sports, men play a sport on a federated in greater numbers than females.

Un tópico relevante en la investigación sobre la escuela es el compromiso escolar o school engagement. Este tópico se ha relacionado abundantemente con el burnout, de profesores y alumnos, y ha mostrado significativas relaciones con variables como el rendimiento escolar, satisfacción con la escuela, problemas de disciplina, orientaciones motivacionales de los alumnos y clima motivacional de la clase, relaciones entre alumnos y profesores, y satisfacción con la vida de los escolares, entre otras. El compromiso escolar se define como la participación del estudiante en los logros académicos, y se entiende como un constructo multidimensional. La tipología más repetida ha mostrado tres dimensiones (cognitiva, afectiva y conductual), pero a éstas recientemente se ha añadido una nueva, el compromiso agéntico. Con frecuencia, los profesionales de la educación denuncian la falta de instrumentos para evaluar determinadas características de los alumnos y los aspectos psicosociales y comportamentales en clase. Como respuesta a esto, Veiga (2013) ha sido el primero en presentar un instrumento de autoinforme en portugués (el Student Engagement Scale-ses-4ds) que mide cuatro dimensiones de compromiso, cognitivo, afectivo, conductual y agéntico. El objetivo de este trabajo ha consistido en estudiar la validez y fiabilidad de esta escala en dos versiones, castellano y portugués. Los resultados han mostrado una clara estructura factorial, una vez eliminados dos ítems. La validez de criterio y nomológica han resultado adecuadas. Por tanto, a la vista de los resultados, la presente escala supone un instrumento válido de aplicación para la medición del compromiso escolar de los adolescentes.

Cada interacción que el entrenador tiene con los deportistas juega un papel fundamental sobre la motivación de los deportistas, convirtiéndose en un momento adecuado para que esta influencia que tenemos los entrenadores sea positiva, para conseguir que la práctica deportiva sea agradable, motivante, y emocionante, en resumidas cuentas una experiencia agradable en el que se genere un clima motivacional adecuado. Desde E-motion: Revista de Educación, Motricidad e Investigación, queremos hacer llegar al entrenador y a cualquier profesional del área de ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte, todo este conociemiento que derivan de investigaciones y experiencias, y que en algunas circunstancias, tienen un acceso más complicado. Deseamos con este último número seguir contribuyendo al conocimiento científico y seguir siendo un foro de encuentro para todos los profesionales que de alguna forma tienen vinculación con las ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte.

This research had two goals: a) examine the construct validity of the 3x2 Motivational Climate Questionnaire for Physical Education, and b) assess the relations among the six structures of motivational climate and relevant consequences. In study 1, 192 secondary students participated (M = 15.57 years). Confirmatory factorial analysis strongly supported the theoretical model. Internal consistency and validity were also satisfactory. The hypothesized model was compared with other 10 alternative models, but the first one showed the best fit to the data. In study 2, the model was re-examined with younger secondary educations students (N = 299; 145 men and 154 women; M = 13.14 years). Multiple regression analyses were conducted to explore the different types of motivational climates as predictors of several variables. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study faces two objectives: (a) to examine the construct validity of the 3x2 Classroom Goal Structures Questionnaire and (b) to jointly analyze the influence of the classroom goal structures and 3x2 achievement goals on high school student's self-determined motivation. 2284 students participated (51.6% men and 48.4% women) aged 12-17 years (M = 14.31 years, SD = 1.15), from 148 classrooms. The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the hypothesized model. The validity and internal consistency of the questionnaire were satisfactory. The results of hierarchical linear models provided support to the direct, indirect and interaction models. Regarding direct effects, self-approach structure and selfapproach and task-approach goals were positive predictors of selfdetermined motivation, whereas the other-approach structure and otherapproach and task-avoidance goals were negative predictors. In relation to indirect effects, the results revealed that the three approach goals and task-avoidance goals were partial mediators of the relationship between the self-approach structure and self-determined motivation, whereas otherapproach goals were partial mediators in the relationship with their parallel structure. Regarding the interaction effects, the relationship between taskapproach goals and self-determination varied depending on the otherapproach structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to analyze the relationships among adolescents' perceptions of motivational climate in physical education (PE) class, students' attitudes toward PE and their motives for practicing sport activities out-of-school. Participants were 428 students of ESO and 1st. Bachelor (54.4% boys and 45.6% girls) aged between 13 and 17 years (M = 14.56, SD = 1.47), which in addition to attending PE classes were participating in sport practices outside school. The sample was incidental and obtained through collaborators. The Perceived Motivational Climate Scale, the Attitudes toward PE Scale, and the Sport Motivation Scale were used. The data were analyzed using structural equation models with latent factors. Main results showed a significant relationship of mastery class climate with attitudes toward PE and intrinsic motivation for sport practicing, and performance class climate with extrinsic motivation and demotivation for sport practicing out-of-school.
