An ultrasonic examination is a clinically universal and safe examination method, and with the development of telemedicine and precision medicine, the robotic ultrasound system (RUS) integrated with a robotic arm and ultrasound imaging system receives increasing attention. As the RUS requires precision and reproducibility, it is important to monitor the real-time calibration of the RUS during examination, especially the angle of the probe for image detection and its force on the surface. Additionally, to speed up the integration of the RUS and the current medical ultrasound system (US), the current RUSs mostly use a self-designed fixture to connect the probe to the arm. If the fixture has inconsistencies, it may cause an operating error. In order to improve its resilience, this study proposed an improved sensing method for real-time force and angle calibration. Based on multichannel pressure sensors, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), and a novel sensing structure, the ultrasonic probe and robotic arm could be simply and rapidly combined, which rendered real-time force and angle calibration at a low cost. The experimental results show that the average success rate of the downforce position identification achieved was 88.2%. The phantom experiment indicated that the method could assist the RUS in the real-time calibration of both force and angle during an examination.

Lead (Pb) is a highly toxic element because of its accumulative and persistent character in the environment. Especially, the risks of their potential entry into the food chain and pollution of heavy metal in an agricultural system will threaten to human health. Songsan wastewater irrigation region, a big rice production area of Anshan, Liaoning province, was polluted by containments of heavy metals for more than 80 years. The total Pb concentration in polluted soil sample was higher than in natural soil (value of environmental standard ≤35 mg•kg-1). In the study, the two chelating agents (EDTA and DTPA) were used to release Pb from the polluted soil. Phenol is the most common pollutant which can be found in several types of industries. It is highly toxic to human beings. To seek the best phenol-degrading bacteria, we collected activated sludge from an aeration tank of the coking wastewater treatment plant, Benxi Iron and Steel Corporation. Five phenol-degrading strains, designated BS3, BS4, BS23, BS28 and BS29, were isolated and screened from activated sludge. Under the conditions of initial phenol 500 mg•L-1,170 rpm and 28°C, the removal efficiencies of BS3, BS4, BS23, BS28 and BS29 strains reached to 79.6%±1.8%, 55.2%±1.0%, 62.4%±2.6%, 78.6%±2.0% and 61.2%±1.9% within 24 h, respectively. By a series of morphological and biochemical and physiological tests, the five phenol-degrading bacteria were identified. The results indicated that they were Pseudomonas spp.. Hence these strains can be effectively used for bioremediation of phenol contaminated water.

The photocatalytic degradation of pyrene (PYRE) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) on soil surfaces in the presence of Fe2O3 using ultraviolet (UV) light source was investigated in a photo chamber, in which the temperature was maintained 30 . The effects of UV irradiation intensity and UV wavelength on the degradation performance of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were studied. The results show that with the intensity of UV irradiation being enhanced, the photocatalytic degradation rates of PAHs were increased. Photocatalytic degradation rates of PYRE and BaP on soil surfaces with 5% Fe2O3 were different at UV irradiation wavelengths of 254, 310 and 365 nm, respectively.

The photocatalytic degradation of phenanthrene (PHE), pyrene (PYRE) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) on soil surfaces in the presence of Fe2O3 using ultraviolet (UV) light source was investigated. The effects of various factors, namely Fe2O3, soil pH, and humic acid, on the degradation performance of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were studied. The results show that photocatalytic degradation of PAHs follows the pseudo-first-order kinetics. Catalyst Fe2O3 accelerated the photodegradation of PHE, PYRE and BaP significantly. In acidic or alkaline conditions, the photocatalytic degradation rates of the PAHs were greater than those in neutral conditions. Humic acid significantly enhanced the PAH photocatalytic degradation by sensitizing radicals capable of oxidizing PAHs.

We report results from a reformulation of the relativistic bremsstrahlung code of Tseng and Pratt. This permits calculation of the triply differential cross section d(3) sigma of bremsstrahlung (electron-photon coincidence measurements) in electron scattering an neutral atoms and ions. The cross section d(3) sigma is viewed as a more sensitive test of the theory, and predictions are needed for comparison with the more systematic and accurate experiments which are now being undertaken. The reformulation represents an extension of the previous code (which only calculated the doubly differential cross section), again utilizing partial-wave and multipole expansions in a screened potential within the independent particle approximation, but differently organizing their summation. The best previous predictions for the triply differential cross sections are due to Elwert and Haug, under assumptions less restrictive than Born approximation yet valid for high-Z elements only at very high incident electron energy. While we confirm differences from the Elwert-Haug results, we do not see a systematic improvement in the agreement with the limited previous experimental data, and further experiments are awaited with interest.

By using five-laser resonance excitation in combination with a new detection method, the highly-excited double Rydberg states NLn'l (N ≥ 40, N/n' ≥ 0.5 and L, l < 4) of Yb have been observed. The relative excitation strengths between the Δl allowed and forbidden core transitions can be quantitatively measured. Analysis of the spectra has revealed the strong electronic correlation in such highly excited states.

The interaction between 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene and bovine serum albumin (BSA) had been investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. By the analysis of fluorescence spectrum and fluorescence intensity, it was observed that the 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene had a strong ability to quench the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA through a static quenching procedure. The binding constant and the number of binding sites were determined at 298 K based on fluorescence quenching results. The thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy change (ΔH), entropy change (ΔS) and Gibbs free-energy change (ΔG) for the reactions were also calculated according to the thermodynamic equations. The negative ΔH and ΔS values in case of 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene-BSA complexes showed that van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds might play a major role in the binding of 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene to BSA. The distance, r, between donor (BSA) and acceptor (3, 5-dihydroxytoluene) was obtained according to the Forster's theory of non-radiation energy transfer. The experimental results of synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy showed that the binding of 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene to BSA induced conformational changes in BSA.

Based on the investigation of the hydrology, water quality, periphytic algae, and habitat conditions of 20 hydrologic sections in the Tieling, Shenyang, and Panjin reaches of Liaohe River from June to August 2009, the indicators and their weights for the health assessment of aquatic ecosystem in the River were screened and determined by the method of principal component analysis, and the River's health assessment indicator system and health assessment standard system were constructed. The modified gray correlative degree method was also used to evaluate the aquatic ecosystem health condition at six sections of the River. Among the sections evaluated, three of them had a fair health level, two were worse or worst, and only one reached sub-health degree, suggesting that the aquatic ecosystem in the River was seriously degraded. Special attention should be paid to the ecological recovery of the river system, and comprehensive measures should be taken to control the River' s water pollution.

To study the clinical therapeutic effects and safety of Fufang Biejia Ruangan tablet (FBRt) in patients with chronic hepatitis B complicated with hepatic fibrosis.Totally 420 patients were randomly divided into two groups, FBRt group (300 cases) were treated with Fufang Biejia Ruangan tablets and control group (120 cases) were treated with He Luo Shu Gan capsule, the patients in both groups were treated for 6 months.The cure rate and total effective rate of FBRt group were significantly higher than those of control group (55.67 percent and 81.67 percent vs. 15.8 percent and 60.00 percent, P less than 0.01).Fufang Biejia Ruangan tablet could alleviate clinical symptoms and hepatic fibrosis. Fufang Biejia Ruangan tablet is effective and safe in treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B complicated with liver fibrosis.

To evaluate the clinical features and outcomes in patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction combined with elevated serum creatinine.We enrolled 340 consecutive patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction admitted into our hospital from 2003.2.1 - 2004.8.31. The patients were divided into the following 2 groups, 269 patients in a group with normal serum creatinine and 71 patients in a group with elevated serum creatinine, according to the normal limit of serum creatinine in our hospital. Outcomes during hospitalization were available in all the patients and one year follow-up data were also available in all the patients. The influence of baseline demographic and clinical variables on mortality at day 30 and one year during the follow-up period was evaluated by Cox proportional hazard regression to determine the independent predictors of late adverse events.Elevated creatinine at baseline was present in 71 of the 340 patients. Compared with patients with normal creatinine, patients with elevated creatinine were older and more likely to have old myocardial infarction and to present with cardiac shock, heart failure, ventricular fibrillation and complete AVB. Mortality was markedly increased in patients with baseline elevated creatinine as compared with these without at day 30 (32.39% versus 4.83%, P = 0.000), during hospitalization (35.21% versus 5.20%, P = 0.000) and at 1 year (43.66% versus 11.15%, P = 0.000). By Cox regression analysis, elevated creatinine was a powerful independent hazard predictor of 30-day survival (odds ratio 4.591, 95% confidence interval 2.149 to 9.808, P = 0.000) and remained to be associated with reduced survival at 1 year (odds ratio 3.936, 95% confidence interval 2.264 to 6.845, P = 0.000).Baseline elevated creatinine is associated with a markedly increased risk of 30-day death, death during hospitalization and mortality at one year in patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction and may be an independent risk factor of prognosis of acute myocardial infarction.

From two excitation schemes with different intermediate states, 5d6d 1P1 and 5d6d 3F2, the La+ Rydberg series converging to La2+ ground state 5d 2D3/2 were observed. The ionization threshold of La+ was found to be 90212.8±0.5 cm-1. The autoionization Rydberg series converging to the La2+5d 2D5/2 state were also obtained.

The effect of pure anthracene derivative Emodin,the major component of Rheum on smooth muscle cell proliferation following atherosclerosis and angioplasty were observed.The result showed that Emodin could markedly inhibit smooth muscle cell(SMC) proliferation,reduce the cell count by 32.15% in vitro.The mechanism may be that Emodin could in- hibit angiotensin-Ⅱ(AT Ⅱ).In culture medium with 10~(-5)mg/ml Emodin in 2×10~(-4)SMC/ml,the AT Ⅱ level was 35. 6pg/ml,and in control 92.7pg/ml(P0.01).The inhibition rate was 61.60%.This preliminary experiment showed that Emodin may be a promising agent in the treatment of some cardiovascular diseases.
