Background Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) consists of a group of acquired diseases that affect the central nervous system. A myriad of phenotypes may be present at the onset. Due to the heterogeneity of clinical presentations, it is difficult to achieve uniformity for the diagnostic and therapeutic processes and follow-up strategies.

A pesquisa discute a relação entre o ensino de Geografia e a música, destacando como a música pode ser uma ferramenta valiosa para promover a aprendizagem e o pensamento geográfico. Explora-se a ideia de que as canções oferecem uma linguagem acessível para contextualizar conceitos geográficos e estimular a compreensão do mundo e das identidades locais. O estudo propõe letras de músicas brasileiras que podem ser recursos para aulas de Geografia do 6º ano dos anos finais e que se relacionam com os objetivos de aprendizagem do ensino fundamental. Além disso, destaca-se a importância de integrar a música nas aulas de Geografia para enriquecer o repertório cultural dos alunos, tornar as aulas mais atrativas e promover o desenvolvimento do raciocínio geográfico. O trabalho busca responder perguntas sobre como utilizar as canções para estimular o pensamento geográfico dos alunos, e como as músicas podem ajudar a fazer conexões com os conteúdos curriculares e explorar conceitos como paisagem e lugar. Por meio de uma abordagem teórica e metodológica, a pesquisa visa contribuir para o aprimoramento do ensino de Geografia, oferecendo sugestões de atividades e materiais pedagógicos baseados na educação geográfica com música.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the impact of the state action-research project on vaccination coverage in children under two years of age in the state of Minas Gerais, according to the size of the municipalities, comparing the years 2021 and 2022. Methods: This is a study nested within the state action-research project, a before-after community clinical trial carried out in 212 municipalities in the state of Minas Gerais. This study used secondary data on Vaccination Coverage (VC), Homogeneity of Vaccines (HVC) and Abandonment rate of multi-dose vaccines. After classifying municipalities by size and vaccination coverage rates were equitably classified, an analysis of secondary data on 12 immunobiologicals indicated for the age group in question and their abandonment rate of multi-dose vaccines was carried out. Results: There was an increase in the proportion of municipalities classified as small that reached the vaccination coverage target set by the National Immunization Program (PNI) after the action-research project was carried out. There was an increase in the proportion of small municipalities classified as having a low abandonment rate for the rotavirus vaccine, in the adequate homogeneity of vaccination coverage and in the classification of risk as very low risk and low and medium risk, all with a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: There was an influence of municipal size on the effectiveness of the actions applied to increase vaccination coverage, explaining that proposing individualized actions for each municipality is essential to improve vaccination coverage.

RESUMO Com o objetivo de compreender a construção teórica da liderança e as transformações ocorridas no campo da Administração, este artigo utiliza a Teoria Crítica como suporte epistemológico para analisar conceitos e condições históricas das Teorias Tradicionais da Liderança. Especificamente, investigamos as teorias de liderança: abordagem do traço pessoal, abordagem do estilo, abordagem contingencial e a abordagem da nova liderança. Por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando o método hermenêutico-dialético, concluímos que as teorias de liderança naturalizaram interesses gerenciais sem considerar a natureza conflituosa das organizações. Esse processo de naturalização foi criticamente refletido neste artigo, questionando o conceito de liderança e suas implicações. Percebemos que as teorias que se configuram como Teorias Tradicionais desconsideram o contexto histórico e conflituoso da origem do fenômeno, produzindo racionalidades instrumentais, naturalizadas e a serviço do capital. A abordagem crítica proposta neste estudo é um ponto forte, oferecendo um parâmetro para pesquisas empíricas baseadas nos estudos críticos organizacionais.

Objetivo: investigar a influência do exercício físico no comportamento cognitivo dos idosos e os programas de exercícios de maior impacto na resposta motora e adaptações neuromusculares. Método: desenvolveu-se uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados Pubmed/MEDLINE, Scopus, LILACS, SPORTDiscus e Embase. Utilizou-se o PRISMA 2020 e análise de risco de viés através da escala Cochrane handbook para revisões sistemáticas de intervenções (Versão 5.1.0). Domínios da tabela 8.5.d Resultados: 21 estudos foram incluídos para análise qualitativa. A prática regular de exercício físico desencadeia uma série de adaptações neuromusculares positivas em pessoas idosas. Essas adaptações estão relacionadas ao aumento da massa, força e potência muscular, favorecendo a capacidade cognitiva e motora. A mudança no estilo de vida do idoso apontou impacto significativo, e 30% do processo de envelhecimento é considerado natural e causado por fatores sensoriais, mentais, físicos e perda do autocontrole. No entanto, 70% dependem impreterivelmente do estilo de vida individual. Conclusão: O presente estudo sugere um programa composto por exercícios combinados de força, resistência e aeróbicos. Tais exercícios promovem o aumento dos fatores neurotróficos, vascular e de crescimento, além de promover melhorias cognitivas, de humor e qualidade de vida ao envelhecer. Para tanto, a implementação de um programa de exercícios que envolva a pliometria e um treinamento resistido com intensidades mais altas (igual ou superior a 60% de 1-RM) e um volume adequado e progressivo (igual ou superior a 3 sessões de 30-40 minutos por semana), parece ser promissor aos melhores desfechos cognitivos e psicomotores na terceira idade.

Este manuscrito descreve a experiência da equipe do NETI Universidade Aberta para as Pessoas Idosas, vinculado à Pró-Reitoria de Extensão da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, no desenvolvimento do Projeto de Extensão NETI Saúde. Para a elaboração do trabalho construiu-se um instrumento, aplicado às pessoas idosas, para Levantamento de Necessidades de Treinamento. O instrumento foi ancorado no Referencial Teórico dos Determinantes Sociais da Saúde e a análise teve como foco evidenciar o conhecimento das pessoas idosas sobre os temas abordados. Foram utilizadas as plataformas Google Meet® e StreamYard® para transmitir quatro Lives via YouTube®, entre agosto e dezembro de 2021, com palestrantes experts nas temáticas. O produto das Lives resultou em quatro cartilhas sobre a temática de interesse dos alunos. Aliadas às novas formas de interação, essas tecnologias evidenciaram ser possível manter um vínculo educacional com os idosos, mesmo no isolamento social. O uso da tecnologia digital, nesta fase da vida e frente a uma pandemia, representou um desafio e um avanço. O conhecimento compartilhado foi uma importante ação desempenhada pelo NETI Universidade Aberta para as Pessoas Idosas.

Over thirty years ago, children’s participation rights were recognized internationally with the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Increased involvement of children and young people in lead, collaborative, and advisory roles in interdisciplinary research has challenged ‘traditional’ adult research practices in numerous ways. Co-production recognizes participants as experts and creators of knowledge, engages children and young people in decision-making, and addresses traditional adult-child hierarchies. #CovidUnder19 is a movement that aims to foster intergenerational partnerships between children, young people and adult members of the child rights community to develop evidence-based advocacy to uphold children’s rights throughout the pandemic, as well as in response and recovery. The COVID 4P Log smartphone app was designed to better understand ways practitioners and policymakers protect, provide, enable participation, and prevent harm in their practice. Children and young people aged 14 to 19 from countries around the world are involved as co-researchers and advisors in research design, data analysis, and knowledge exchange. This paper explores the experiences of #CovidUnder19 young people as researchers focusing on the data analysis and knowledge exchange phase and includes their reflections on meaningful intergenerational partnership in research. This includes the importance of relationships, embracing the ‘inner child’, and fostering meaningful participation in the research process. The paper concludes with recommendations for other researchers on how to work in partnership with children and young people meaningfully to strengthen the process and impact for researchers and children’s human rights.

The caregivers fabrication, induction, or exacerbation of disease has been known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy since the last century, although this name is currently considered inappropriate. For this study, we will adopt this second designation. Child abuse is not a recent problem, nor is it easy to identify. The perpetrator can practice multiple forms of aggression, but one of them assumes importance not only because of the immediate or late consequences but also because the aggressor, in most cases, is the mother. This study aimed to broadly address the syndrome with information about the diagnosis and medical and legal conduct, according to literature data.

Este artigo teve como objetivo de pesquisa identificar os diferentes tipos de supervisão abusiva que os estagiários sofrem dentro das organizações e como isso afeta a disposição deles de permanecerem em silêncio, deixando de compartilhar informações, opiniões e sugestões de melhoria. Foi utilizado o método de entrevista em profundidade, sendo entrevistados dez estagiários, alunos do curso de Administração e residentes na cidade de Franca, Estado de São Paulo. Após ponderar os resultados obtidos nas entrevistas, concluiu-se que existem diversas maneiras de supervisão abusiva que os estagiários sofrem em seu ambiente de trabalho, tais como gritos do supervisor, atribuição de culpa de maneira inadequada, crítica em público e ridicularização em público. As reações mais comuns a essas situações foram os sentimentos de humilhação e frustração, sentimentos de desconforto e constrangimento, sensação de estar sendo coagido, injustiçado e ofendido, desmotivação e, em algumas situações, sensação de não ser capaz e de abandono, ou seja, a supervisão abusiva afeta o estado emocional dos estudantes. É importante assinalar que não são apenas os estagiários que são afetados negativamente pela supervisão abusiva, mas também a organização. Por meio das entrevistas conduzidas, verificou-se que, quando o supervisor de estágio se comporta de maneira abusiva, os estudantes optam pelo silêncio, o que significa que eles escolhem não compartilhar informações importantes, sugestões e ideias.

This article aimed to identify the different types of abusive supervision that trainees suffer from within organizations and how this affects their willingness to remain silent, failing to share information, opinions and suggestions for improvement. The in-depth interview method was used, and ten trainees, students of the Administration course and residents of the city of Franca, State of São Paulo, were interviewed. After pondering the results obtained in the interviews, it was concluded that there are several ways of abusive supervision that trainees suffer in their work environment, such as supervisor shouts, attribution of inadequate guilt, public criticism and public joking. The most common reactions to these situations were feelings of humiliation and frustration, feelings of discomfort and embarrassment, feeling of being coerced, wronged and offended, demotivation and, in some situations, feeling of not being able and abandoning, that is, abusive supervision affects the emotional state of students. It is important to note that it is not only trainees who are adversely affected by abusive supervision but also the organization. Through the interviews conducted, it has been found that when the trainee supervisor behaves abusively, students opt for silence, which means that they choose not to share important information, suggestions and ideas.

Impulsionados por conhecer como os estudantes estão lidando e enfrentando as questões escolares no contexto da pandemia, este artigo apresenta reflexão acerca da educação geográfica em ensino remoto e a relação dos jovens escolares com a escola na atualidade. Os dados coletados em 2021 e analisados neste artigo contemplam 301 estudantes do 6º ao 9º ano e da 1ª a 3ª série do ensino médio de 7 escolas nos municípios tocantinenses de Almas, Gurupi, Porto Nacional e Palmas. A pesquisa revelou que 71% dos estudantes consideraram proveitosas as atividades realizadas durante a pandemia, mas apenas 20% consideram que o ensino remoto foi importante para o aprendizado. A pesquisa refutou a hipótese de que os estudantes não queriam retornar ao ambiente escolar, posto que 81% dos estudantes desejam retornar às atividades escolares de forma presencial.

O presente artigo aborda o fenômeno do teletrabalho, colocando em pauta discussões acerca da complexidade do tema e analisando promessas não cumpridas pelo mesmo. O teletrabalho surgiu como a promessa de conferir maior tempo livre aos indivíduos. Contudo, argumenta-se que o teletrabalho concebe uma aparência de liberdade com travas de controle e que o tempo livre oriundo do teletrabalho se tornou o engodo do novo trabalho. Diante disto, o objetivo deste artigo consiste em refletir acerca do teletrabalho como resposta aos imperativos da globalização. Trazendo considerações sobre o mesmo e a sua relação com o tempo livre, à luz do aporte da Teoria Crítica e das considerações de Theodor Adorno, bem como discutir a instrumentalização e o reducionismo do tempo livre nessa modalidade de trabalho.

This text is part of the ongoingresearch on the Sanctuary of Hera (Heraion) in Delos, a project of the French School of Athens (École française d’Athènes - EfA) with a network of collaborators from Brazilian universities. More specifically, it addresses the close linkages between archaeological research on the Sanctuary of Hera in Delos, dating back to the 19th century, and the local museum, built in the early 20th century. We approach issues linked to the research process between the archaeological site and the museum, in addition to the prevalent logic in the presentation of many objects from the archaeological site in the museum’s public exhibition. Finally, we propose strategies based on a virtual setting with the aim of reorganizing some limits between the archaeological site, the local museum and communications.

Objectives: Acute Aortic dissection (AAD) may present as out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). However, the incidence of this presentation is not well known. Our aim was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of all observational studies reporting on the incidence of AAD in patients with OHCA. Methods: We searched MEDLINE, CENTRAL, PsycInfo, Web of Science Core Collection and OpenGrey databases from inception to March-2021, for observational studies reporting on the incidence of AAD in patients with OHCA. Data was pooled using a random-effects model of proportions. The primary outcome was the incidence of AAD in OHCA patients. Secondary outcomes were the incidence of type A aortic dissections (TAAD) and type B aortic dissections (TBAD) in OHCA patients, overall mortality following AAD-OHCA and risk of death in AAD-OHCA patients compared to risk of death of non-AAD-OHCA patients. Results: Fourteen studies were included. The pooled calculated incidence of OHCA due to AAD was 4.39% (95 %CI: 2.55; 6.8). Incidence of OHCA due to TAAD was 7.18% (95 %CI: 5.61; 8.93) and incidence of OHCA due to TBAD was 0.47% (95 %CI: 0.18; 0.85). Overall mortality following OHCA due to AAD was 100% (95 %CI: 97.62; 100). The risk of death in AAD-OHCA patients compared with non-AAD-OHCA patients was 1.10 (95 %CI: 0.94; 1.30). Conclusion: AAD as a cause of OHCA is more frequent than previously thought. Prognosis is dire, as it is invariably lethal. These findings should lead to a higher awareness of AAD when approaching a patient with OHCA and to future studies on this matter.

Ensinar sobre a cidade tem se constituído em um importante articulador de aprendizagens na educação geográfica. Considerando a importância e a relevância do ensino de cidade, o presente trabalho dedica-se a analisar o ensino de cidade a partir da Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). Busca-se apresentar as distintas concepções de cidade que fundamentam o debate em diferentes matrizes teóricas. O percurso foi realizado na pesquisa a partir das habilidades da BNCC procurando destacar aquelas que estão relacionadas ao ensino de cidade para o ensino fundamental (anos iniciais e anos finais), localizando-as, por ano escolar e por unidade temática. O resultado da investigação está detalhado neste artigo que apresenta as singularidades do ensino de cidade na educação básica. De modo que o tema cidade está indicado para ensino de Geografia na BNCC em todos os anos escolares e a partir de diferentes relações e conexões. Assume no início da escolarização uma grande aproximação com o lugar de vivência do estudante e portanto uma associação maior com a categoria lugar e paisagem e ao longo do ensino fundamental vai assumindo complexidade em diferentes escalas geográficas e associação com diferentes temas. A BNCC contempla o ensino de cidade em todos os anos do ensino fundamental e relaciona a questão com todas as unidades temáticas.

We conducted a double-blind randomized clinical trial in order to examine the effects and the safety of home-based transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on depressive and anxious symptoms of patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). We evaluated 26 adults with TLE and depressive symptoms randomized into two different groups: active tDCS (tDCSa) and Sham (tDCSs). The patients were first submitted to 20 sessions of tDCS for 20 min daily, 5 days a week for 4 weeks and then received a maintenance tDCS application in the research laboratory once a week for 3 weeks. The intensity of the current was 2 mA, applied bilaterally over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, with the anode positioned on the left side and the cathode on the right side. Participants were evaluated on days 1, 15, 30, and 60 of the study using the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI). A follow-up evaluation was performed 1 year after the end of treatment. They were also evaluated for quality of life and for anxious symptoms as secondary outcomes. The groups did not differ in clinical, socioeconomic or psychometric characteristics at the initial assessment. There was no statistically significant difference between groups regarding reported adverse effects, seizure frequency or dropouts. On average, between the 1st and 60th day, the BDI score decreased by 43.93% in the active group and by 44.67% in the Sham group (ΔBDIfinal – initial = −12.54 vs. −12.20, p = 0.68). The similar improvement in depressive symptoms observed in both groups was attributed to placebo effect and interaction between participants and research group and not to tDCS intervention per se. In our study, tDCS was safe and well tolerated, but it was not effective in reducing depressive or anxiety symptoms in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy.Clinical Trial Registration: [ClinicalTrials.gov], identifier [NCT03871842].

The objective of this text is to present the modification of the conception of Rule of Law in the South America constitutionalism, from the dialogue and synergy between the Inter-American System of Human Rights and the new constitutions that emerged after dictatorships, authoritarian regimes, and internal wars, taking Operation Condor as a clandestine inter-American system or as unconventional status quo. We problematize how it is possible to speak of "Inter-American Rule of Law", which means the reconstruction of that State compatible with the ACHR in the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary spheres, as well the conventionality control and the standards emanating from the IACourtHR to laws, public policies, and national court decisions. Therefore, we defend the thesis that this dialogue can be the key to access the engine room of the constitutions, with the pro persona principle. The methodology used was a theoretical and normative approach, from a hypothetical deductive perspective and prioritizing as sources the bibliography and the caselaw of the IACourtHR.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) have been gaining prominence in replacing metallic alloys for infrastructure in prostheses, with the possibility of edentulous patients to acquire fixed prostheses. For this, procedures are required to connect these implants to the implant-supported fixed prosthesis, such as holes and notches that can reduce their mechanical properties. In addition, the infrastructure requires longer cantilevers, causing greater stress on the prosthetic system. Then, the objective is to analyze the stress concentration in the CFRP subjected to bending loads with holes (4 and 6 mm diameter to verify the influence of the diameter-to-width ratio) in four-point-bending test. Two composite laminates were evaluated: one with thermoplastic matrix of poly(phenylene sulphide) PPS; and another with epoxy matrix combined with carbon fibers fabric. The presence of holes in the studied dimensions did not present significant differences in the flexural modulus and maximum bending strength. Therefore, the use of CFRP showed some advantage regarding the reduced effect of stress concentration compared to metallic alloys.

Este artigo tem, como intuito, despertar um olhar sensível e reflexivo sobre os efeitos da pandemia e da pós-pandemia no grupo social da pequena infância e suas implicações para o campo pedagógico da educação infantil. A partir de autoras e autores dos Estudos da Criança, da Educação Infantil e da Filosofia, são discutidos alguns dos impactos da crise pandêmica na educação e na vida das crianças pequenas brasileiras, evidenciando um dos efeitos potencializados pela pandemia: o emparedamento das crianças, desde bebês. Nos últimos anos, a grande permanência de tempo que as meninas e os meninos passam nos espaços fechados, isto é, emparedadas e emparedados, sem contato com a natureza, já vem sendo problematizada. Retoma-se essa discussão à luz da conjuntura atual, analisando suas implicações para o retorno presencial das crianças e dos bebês às escolas infantis. Diante da necessidade de repensar as práticas educativas, são levantadas algumas contribuições para um retorno às escolas infantis, o qual seja pautado pelo cuidado com as crianças de todas as idades e suas famílias, com as/os profissionais das escolas e com o planeta do qual fazemos parte.

Introdução: Os pilares do tratamento do Diabetes Mellitus (DM) são a associação de tratamento medicamentoso, adoção de alimentação saudável e prática regular de exercícios físicos. Apesar dos diversos benefícios descritos para pacientes com DM, a prática regular de exercício físico permanece sendo um desafio. Objetivo: Identificar e caracterizar a orientação para prática de exercícios físicos entregue à pacientes com DM ou pré-DM acompanhados em um serviço ambulatorial para tratamento ou prevenção do DM. Material e Métodos: Estudo observacional transversal. Entre novembro de 2018 e abril de 2019 realizou-se coleta de dados por busca ativa nos prontuários de pacientes em acompanhamento no Ambulatório Multidisciplinar de Diabetes do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, sendo incluídos neste estudo pacientes com diagnóstico de DM tipo 1 (DM1), tipo 2 (DM2) ou pré-DM. Foram excluídos prontuários de pacientes com mais de um atendimento no período da coleta de dados ou que não foram atendidos até o momento da coleta. Foi realizada análise estatística descritiva por meio do cálculo de frequências simples e percentuais para todas as variáveis e média e desvio padrão para as variáveis numéricas. Resultados: Dos 192 prontuários, 169 foram considerados para análise. Noventa e dois por cento da amostra foi caracterizada com diagnóstico de DM2 (57±11 anos) e o sexo feminino foi o mais prevalente (66%). Setenta e oito por cento da amostra que continha informações sobre atividade física em seus prontuários era sedentária. Em 83% dos prontuários, não havia recomendação de exercício físico documentado, e os 17% que apresentavam a descrição eram prontuários de pacientes com DM2. As indicações de “atividade física”, “mudança do estilo de vida” e “hidroginástica” foram os termos mais documentados para recomendação. Conclusão: Este estudo revelou a baixa taxa de registro sobre a orientação para prática de exercícios físicos de pacientes com DM.

Foundation: Chronotype is an attribute of human beings, which reflects its individual circadian phase, and affects biological and psychological functions, both in health and disease. Its study is particularly valuable in educational settings.Objective: to characterize the chronotype of university students in relation to the type of career they study.Methods: a cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in a series of 273 university students, selected by simple random sampling, structured in three groups based on provenance criteria: 88 from Technical Sciences, 88 from Social and Humanistic Sciences and 97 from Medical Sciences. The chronotype of each subject was explored through the Morningness and Eveningness Questionnaire. For each group the mean scores of the questionnaire and the proportions of morning, intermediate and evening individuals were calculated.Results: the mean scores of the three groups were framed in the intermediate chronotype range, and there were no statistically significant differences. Subjects were classified as 67% of as intermediate, 23.8% as morning and 9.2 % as evening; chronotype proportions by groups also showed no significant differences.Conclusion: there was a clear predominance of intermediate chronotype, followed in frequency by morning and evening. It was not demonstrated that the type of career influenced scores, nor in proportions of the circadian typologies by groups.

Chagas disease, which is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, establishes lifelong infections in humans and other mammals that lead to severe cardiac and gastrointestinal complications despite the competent immune response of the hosts. Furthermore, it is a neglected disease that affects 8 million people worldwide. The scenario is even more frustrating since the main chemotherapy is based on benznidazole, a drug that presents severe side effects and low efficacy in the chronic phase of the disease. Thus, the search for new therapeutic alternatives is urgent. In the present study, we investigated the activity of a novel phenyl-tert-butyl-nitrone (PBN) derivate, LQB303, against T. cruzi. LQB303 presented trypanocidal effect against intracellular [IC50/48 h = 2.6 μM] and extracellular amastigotes [IC50/24 h = 3.3 μM] in vitro, leading to parasite lysis; however, it does not present any toxicity to host cells. Despite emerging evidence that mitochondrial metabolism is essential for amastigotes to grow inside mammalian cells, the mechanism of redox-active molecules that target T. cruzi mitochondrion is still poorly explored. Therefore, we investigated if LQB303 trypanocidal activity was related to the impairment of the mitochondrial function of amastigotes. The investigation showed there was a significant decrease compared to the baseline oxygen consumption rate (OCR) of LQB303-treated extracellular amastigotes of T. cruzi, as well as reduction of “proton leak” (the depletion of proton motive force by the inhibition of F1Fo ATP synthase) and “ETS” (maximal oxygen consumption after uncoupling) oxygen consumption rates. Interestingly, the residual respiration (“ROX”) enhanced about three times in LQB303-treated amastigotes. The spare respiratory capacity ratio (SRC: cell ability to meet new energy demands) and the ATP-linked OCR were also impaired by LQB303 treatment, correlating the trypanocidal activity of LQB303 with the impairment of mitochondrial redox metabolism of amastigotes. Flow cytometric analysis demonstrated a significant reduction of the ΔΨm of treated amastigotes. LQB303 had no significant influence on the OCR of treated mammalian cells, evidencing its specificity against T. cruzi mitochondrial metabolism. Our results suggest a promising trypanocidal activity of LQB303, associated with parasite bioenergetic inefficiency, with no influence on the host energy metabolism, a fact that may point to an attractive alternative therapy for Chagas disease.

Abstract Glaze application on monolithic zirconia (Y-TZP) can be a practical approach to improve the mechanical properties of this material. Objective Our study evaluated the effect of glazing side and mechanical cycling on the biaxial flexure strength (BFS) of a Y-TZP. Methodology Eighty sintered Y-TZP discs (Ø:12 mm; thickness: 1.2 mm - ISO 6872) were produced and randomly assigned into eight groups (n=10), according to the factors “glazing side” (control – no glazing; GT – glaze on tensile side; GC – glaze on compression side; GTC – glaze on both sides) and “mechanical aging” (non-aged and aged, A – mechanical cycling: 1.2×106, 84 N, 3 Hz, under water at 37°C). This research purpose is to investigate the possibilities of transformation generated by university students who experienced action-research in the period of academic education, in projects of an extensionist nature. Allied to this purpose, we seek to understand how the process of action-research interferes in the business education. To carry out this research, a Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES) was chosen based on the intense extension work carried out by its professors. Six students, undergraduates and graduates, who participated as volunteers or scholarship holders in extension projects were delimited as corpus. This study fits into the descriptive-conclusive research model by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The data analysis method was inspired by Discourse Analysis. The research data shows that the students began to have a broader understanding of the profession of administrator, after participating in the extension projects that adopt the methodology of action-research. The proposal of action-research must overcome the boundaries of the methodology and be transmuted into a form of social relationship between university actors in local communities, enhancing the training of administrators and training them for a more dense, broad and critical professional performance.

Abstract Eggs, often used in pastry products, are one of the major transmission vehicles of Salmonella. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate Salmonella Typhimurium thermal resistance, by D and z values determination, in a traditional Portuguese egg-based pastry and its microbial and physical-chemical characterization. Salmonella Typhimurium ATCC 14028 (OXOID C6000L) (Ca. 1.33×108 cfu g-1) was inoculated in a liquid batter consisting of 8 whole eggs, 7 egg yolks, 280 g of wheat flour and 250 g of sugar. D and z values determinations were performed after applying a water bath to vacuum-packed samples of liquid batter (5 g), following thermal treatments: 52 °C (45, 90, 135, 180 and 225 min); 55 °C (15, 30, 45, 60, 70 and 80 min); 58 °C (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 min) and 61 °C (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 min). Physico-chemical (aw, pH, moisture, sugar, ashes, protein and free fat) and microbiological determinations (mesophilic microorganisms, psychrotrophic, molds and yeasts, Enterobacteriacea, E. coli; Salmonella spp., Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus) were also conducted in raw liquid batter. It was possible to investigate different combinations of time and temperature for Salmonella Typhimurium inactivation, compared to other studies on egg-based batter, often used to make pastry products. Liquid batter aw before inoculation was 0.94 and pH 7.26. The D values were obtained 53.19 min, 20.45 min, 6.95 min and 1.60 min, at 52 °C, 55 °C, 58 °C e 61 °C, respectively. From the calculated D values, the corresponding z value was 5.96 °C.

Introduction: Circadian typology is related to the sleep-wake timing. Objective:To determine the circadian typology and to assess the sleep-wake timing associated with it in a sample of university students. Methodology:273 university students were evaluated by the Morningness Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) and the Munich Chronotype Questionnaire (MCTQ). The MEQ established the independent circadian typology variable and allowed the creation of three work groups: morning type (MT), indeterminate type (IT) and evening type (ET). The dependent variables were calculated from the MCTQ, we used sleep onset and sleep duration on days with classes and days free (SOW, SOF, SDW and SDF respectively), we also calculated the average weekly sleep duration (SDweek), the sleep debt (Sloss) and the social jetlag (SJL).In order to evaluate the phase of entrainment of sleep wake cycle (SWC)we determined two variables: midpoint sleep on free days (MSF) and midpoint of with sleep corrections (MSFsc).Results:183 subjects (67%) were classified as IT, 65 subjects (23.8%) as MT and 25 subjects (9.2%) as ET. Introduction: Infertile individuals frequently have chromosomal alteration. Objective: To determine the chromosomal constitution of infertile individuals.Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out based on the results of the karyotypes in peripheral blood in infertile individuals. The sample consisted of infertile patients of both sexes, from the province of Villa Clara who were studied in the Cytogenetics Laboratory of the Provincial Center of Genetics, between the years 1991 and 2017. We analyzed the chromosome formulas obtained and the age of the subjects at the time of diagnosis.Results: 232 individuals were studied, of which 97 were males and 135 females. 27.1% of the karyotypes were positive and in all, the sex chromosomes were involved. We found numerical chromosomal aberrations in thirty-one men (32%) in relation to Klinefelter Syndrome and variants. Thirty-two women (23.8%) had positive karyotype, where structural aberrations of the X chromosome and mosaicism predominated. The diagnosis of six women with karyotype 46, XY (Androgen insensitivity Syndrome) and two 45, X/46,XY (Mixed gonadal dysgenesis) was significant. The average age at diagnosis in men was 31 years and in women 22 years.Conclusions: Karyotyping is an essential study in infertility. The detailed clinical examination of this type of patients would facilitate early diagnosis and adequate therapeutics.

Esta pesquisa, de caráter qualitativo e exploratório, propôs-se a refletir sobre o conceito de liderança, de acordo com literatura mainstream. Portanto, questionam-se quais as variáveis sócio-históricas podem ser resgatadas no processo de desnaturalização da liderança, de modo a superar sua objetivação. Para tal empreitada, exploraram-se os trabalhos desenvolvidos por Stogdill (1950); Likert (1961); McGregor (1960); Pfeffer (1981); Kotter (1990); Conger e Kanungo (1988); Northouse (2007); Bryman (2009), representantes das teorias tradicionais de liderança, com o objetivo de buscar uma linguagem comum a todos. O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi desconstruir o processo de naturalização da temática, tal como presente nas teorias funcionalistas (mainstream), resgatando sua historicidade e concreticidade. As teorias tradicionais a definem, em termos gerais, como um processo ou ato de influenciar as atividades de um grupo, organizando os esforços a fim de se alcançar um objetivo. Nota-se a naturalização do processo de liderança; o contexto histórico e conflituoso da origem do fenômeno foi abstraído, restando, apenas, algo concreto, fixo e objetivado. Como resultados, apresentam-se esquemas que ilustram esta visão crítica do conceito de liderança. Considerou-se a liderança como uma construção sócio-histórica dos envolvidos, que está intimamente ligada a variáveis econômicas, culturais, axiológicas, históricas e religiosas. Esta empreitada científica se justifica dada a importância do tema na formação dos administradores, seja de natureza acadêmica ou profissional.

Resumo: A Toponímia é o estudo dos nomes de lugares; baseia-se, entre outros aspectos, na etimologia e nos dados semânticos dos nomes próprios de lugares (elementos físicos e humanos), ao passo que a Geografia Cultural apropria-se das manifestações culturais advindas de um lugar, assim como as crenças, danças, mitos e lendas. Este estudo busca investigar os pontos de interlocução entre Toponímia e Geografia Cultural, considerando que se revelam interdependentes mas, ao mesmo tempo, entrelaçadas na mesma trama no que se refere à amplitude de seus fios de conteúdo interdisciplinar. Assumimos a noção de interdisciplinaridade como o paradigma investigativo. A abordagem de análise metodológica é qualitativa e de caráter bibliográfico. Para realizar esta discussão, serviram de suporte teórico-metodológico os trabalhos de Dick (1990, 1999, 2006, 2007, 2008) e Andrade (2012, 2015, 2017) no campo da Toponímia, e os estudos de Claval (2001, 2002, 2011), Tuan (1979), Corrêa (2009) e Holzer (1999, 2003) no campo da Geografia Cultural. O estudo tem como objetivo analisar como ocorrem as práticas pedagógicas psicomotoras na escola de Educação Infantil e qual a importância da psicomotricidade para o desenvolvimento da criança. Utilizou-se abordagem qualitativa, etnográfica e descritiva. Realizou-se observação não participante, diários de campo e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os dados foram analisados de acordo com a técnica da Hermenêutica de Profundidade, seguindo três etapas: análise sócio-histórica; análise Formal ou Discursiva e (Re) Interpretação. Os resultados revelaram que as práticas psicomotoras utilizadas pelas professoras de Educação Infantil da escola analisada são atividades voltadas às brincadeiras, canções, recorte, colagem, pintura, massinha de modelar e o desenvolvimento da coordenação motora. Apesar da instituição escolar ser muito pequena e não disponibilizar materiais para que a psicomotricidade possa ser estimulada de forma mais ampla, as educadoras se esforçam com o que tem para que os aspectos psicomotores sejam realizadas com as crianças, pois elas sabem da importância dessa ciência para o desenvolvimento integral infantil, englobando o lado motor, psíquico e afetivo. Psychomotricity and pedagogical practices in the context of Early Childhood Education: a school ethnography ABSTRACT The study aims to analyze how the psychomotor pedagogical practices occur in the School of Early Childhood Education and what is the importance of psychomotricity for the development of the child. A qualitative, ethnographic and descriptive approach was used. Non-participant observation, field diaries and semi-structured interviews were carried out. The data were analyzed according to the Depth Hermeneutics technique, following three stages: sociohistorical analysis; Formal or Discursive analysis and (Re) Interpretation. The results showed that the psychomotor practices used by the teachers of Early Childhood Education of the analyzed school are activities related to the games, songs, cut, collage, painting, modeling clay and the development of motor coordination. Although the school institution is very small and does not provide materials for psychomotricity to develop, the educators strive with what they have for the psychomotor aspects to be carried out with the children, because they know the importance of this science for the integral development of the child, encompassing the motor, psychic and affective side. Os estudos sobre Indústria Cultural desde o surgimento das reflexões com Adorno e Horkheimer no livro Dialética do Esclarecimento, são relevantes não apenas por buscar compreender a sociedade, mas, principalmente, por gerar uma reflexão sobre a forma como a cultura vem sendo reconfigurada, de modo a perder sua aura crítica e de emancipação do sujeito, graças às intervenções capitalistas que buscam através desta, implicitamente ou não, gerar valor e atingir seus próprios interesses. Objetiva-se então, iniciar uma reflexão a fim de analisar a efetividade das relações concretas e dialéticas próprias às intervenções privadas no âmbito da educação patrimonial, que tem em sua essência formar indivíduos críticos e autônomos capazes de reconhecer o passado como formador da identidade individual e coletiva dos cidadãos, sob a perspectiva dos estudos críticos organizacionais.

RESUMO: Entre as diversas nações que compõem o constitucionalismo sul-americano, no presente estudo, busca-se analisar os mecanismos de participação popular no âmbito do processo legislativo especial referente às emendas ao texto constitucional de dois países específicos, quais sejam, o Brasil e a Bolívia. A partir de um prisma eminentemente democrático, que outorga ao povo a legitimidade de exercício do poder constituinte derivado reformador, se almeja identificar aspectos convergentes ou discrepantes em ambos os sistemas, considerando nesse desiderato seus distintos marco-teórico filosóficos - no Brasil, o Neoconstitucionalismo e na Bolívia, o Novo Constitucionalismo Latino Americano - os quais implicam nos diversos elementos de expressão do desenvolvimento dos institutos em ambos os fenômenos doravante analisados ABSTRACT: Among the various nations that compose South American constitutionalism, the present study aims to analyze the mechanisms of popular participation in the special legislative process concerning the amendments to the constitutional text of two specific countries, namely Brazil and Bolivia. From an eminently democratic perspective, which grants to people the legitimacy to exercise the constituent power of reform, it is sought to identify convergent or discrepant aspects in both systems, considering in this desideratum its different philosophies and theoretical frameworks - in Brazil, neo-constitutionalism and in Bolivia, the New Latin American Constitutionalism - which imply in the various elements of development of institutes in both phenomena henceforth analyzed.

GEOGRAPHIC EDUCATION AND ART IN POOR COMMUNITIES IN THE CITY OF PORTO NACIONAL, TOCANTINS, BRAZIL EDUCACIÓN GEOGRÁFICA Y ARTE EN COMUNIDADES POBRES EN EL MUNICIPIO DE PORTO NACIONAL, TOCANTINS, BRASIL O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de apresentar os resultados obtidos com o projeto de extensão “Educação geográfica pela arte” desenvolvido na cidade de Porto Nacional, estado do Tocantins situado na região norte do Brasil. O projeto foi desenvolvido na Universidade Federal do Tocantins e foi destinado aos jovens pobres de de 11 a 17 anos, preferencialmente beneficiários do Programa Bolsa Família. Foram realizadas atividades didáticas pedagógicas sobre o ensino de Geografia com foco no estudo sobre a cidade em estreita aproximação com a arte. ABSTRACT This paper aims to present the results obtained through the research project Geographic Education and Art developed in the city of Porto Nacional in the state of Tocantins located in the north of Brazil. As letras das canções de Chico Buarque são portadoras de sentidos, revelam o mundo e possuem potência geográfica para dialogar com o mundo, o lugar e o cotidiano a partir das relações que emolduram a vida. Os encontros geográficos com as letras das canções são possibilidades de leitura da obra do artista pela perspectiva geográfica humanista. Este ensaio é norteado pelo objetivo de refletir sobre as geografias de mundo reveladas pela ótica do personagem ‘malandro’ de Chico Buarque em diferentes nuances. Sujeito e mundo coexistem e o lugar, que é o espaço com o qual o sujeito estabelece relações, possui uma gama de significados e valores que são inseparáveis da experiência de quem os vivencia. O estudo sobre o Chico Buarque e as geografias reveladas pelas letras das suas canções é acolhido neste trabalho a partir do método fenomenológico da Geografia Humanista. A fenomenologia coloca-se atualmente como um dos métodos de investigação dos estudos geográficos orientados pelo entendimento do mundo humano através do estudo das relações das pessoas com a natureza, do seu comportamento geográfico, e dos seus sentimentos e ideias a respeito do espaço e do lugar. O lugar tem um sentido e constitui parte essencial da existência humana. Consequentemente, a experiência no mundo-lugar está ligada à forma como se percebe o mundo a partir do espaço-tempo-sentido.

A diabetes mellitus (DM) é uma doença que vem aumentando exponencialmente nos últimos anos de vida dos indivíduos, e uma opção de tratamento farmacológico é feito através dos hipoglicemiantes orais (HO). Em virtude de serem substâncias amplamente utilizadas e terem como principal via de excreção a urinária, este tratamento pode provocar variações nos resultados dos parâmetros urinários. Portanto, este estudo tem a finalidade de avaliar a interferência causada pelo uso de hipoglicemiantes no exame de urina. Para esta investigação, foi feita uma pesquisa bibliográfica em diferentes bases de dados, selecionando os artigos pertinentes ao tema: diabetes, interferências laboratoriais e tratamento farmacológico. Os HO podem ser classificados em três grupos de acordo com o mecanismo de ação: estimuladores de insulinas pelo pâncreas, como sulfoniluréias e metiglinidas; as sensibilizadoras de insulina, são as biguanidas, as tiazolidinedionas e as redutoras da absorção de carboidratos, que são as inibidoras da alfa-glicosidase. O exame de urina é uma ferramenta complementar no controle da DM devido a sua fácil coleta e baixo custo. As classes de hipoglicemiantes orais identificados como potencialmente interferentes no exame de urina foram as biguanidas (metformina) e as sulfoniluréias (tobultamida, tolazamida, glicazida, clorpropramida). Resultam em interferência nos parâmetros densidade, proteínas, glicose, cetonas e bilirrubinas, levando a um diagnóstico inadequado e um tratamento insatisfatório gerando prejuízos ao bem estar do paciente.

Abstract: The effects of several ceramic surface treatments on bond strength of a polymer-infiltrated ceramic network and resin composite as repair material were evaluated. CAD-CAM blocks of a polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (Vita Enamic) were sliced and subjected to aging process, followed by embedding in acrylic resin. The bonding/repair area was treated as follows (n = 30): C– without treatment; UA– universal adhesive application; FM– 10% hydrofluoric acid and silane application; OM–airborne-particle abrasion with aluminum oxide and silane application; RP– tribochemical silica coating; and CA– surface grinding and application of universal adhesive. Composite resin cylinders were made on the treated surface. Specimens from each group were assigned randomly to two subgroups (n = 15) considering storage condition: Baseline (shear tests after 48 hours) or Storage (tests after 6 months under distilled water). The treated surfaces were analyzed by goniometry, roughness, and SEM. Two-way ANOVA and 1-way ANOVA were applied to analyze the bond data and roughness / contact angle data, respectively, followed by Tukey's test (α = 5%). Surface treatments and storage conditions affected bond strengths (p < 0.01). Surface grinding (CA) followed by universal adhesive promoted the highest value of bond strength (14.5 ± 4.8 MPa for baseline, 8.5 ± 3.4 MPa for storage) and the roughest ceramic surface. Grinding with silicon carbide paper (simulating diamond bur) followed by the application of a universal adhesive system is the best option for repairing fractures of the polymer-infiltrated ceramic network.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the extent to which the organizational commitment and job satisfaction influence intent to turnover. Design/methodology/approach – Following a quantitative approach regarding methodological aspects of this research, a case study was carried out in a company of information technology and communication located in Porto Digital, in the Northeast of Brazil. A data collection technique with 172 forms, a self-administered form with 18 closed questions with a Likert-type scale and an open questionnaire were used. In this analysis, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software was used as the technique; besides the descriptive statistics, a correlation was made between dependent variables (intention of rotation) and independent variables (affective, normative, instrumental and work satisfaction). The level of organizational commitment in its three dimensions (affective, normative and instrumental), the job satisfaction in its five dimensions (satisfaction with nature of the task, with leadership, with colleagues, with salary and promotions) and the level of intent to turnover from the respondents were investigated. Findings – The results suggest that affective and normative commitments and satisfaction with pay, satisfaction with promotions and satisfaction with the nature of the work are correlated with the intention of negative turnover significantly. Among the demographic factors, only the age showed a negative correlation with intent to turnover. By performing multiple regression analysis, we identified that the variables that most impacted the turnover intention are affective commitment, satisfaction with salary and normative commitment. The qualitative portion of this study was accomplished through a content analysis of the open question of the form. Finally, one of the main considerations is the findings that revealed variables other than those adopted in the study, which influence the permanence of the respondents. Research limitations/implications – Among the limitations of the research a single case study is highlighted that replicates the experience in other ICT companies to verify if the results found are similar in other organizations and in other segments. The findings direct the construction and validation of new scales, the creation of qualitative protocols to identify the variables that influence the retention of a specific group of individuals to serve as a guide for the elaboration of a questionnaire, as well as creation of surveys of longitudinal nature to correlate the data of intention of rotation with the effective turnover. Practical implications – Based on the results, organizations can reduce voluntary evasion by adjusting actions, policies and practices, directing those responsible for People Management to attract and retain good employees. It should be emphasized that voluntary turnover should be treated as one of the management indicators of greater relevance by organizations, representing a thermometer of all human capital management. Social implications - The monitoring of employment and unemployment levels is part of the public policy agenda for generating employment and income in Brazil. For organizations, employee turnover can and should be managed and monitored so that appropriate levels are found and their consequences are minimized through effective solutions. The results are important both for technology-based organizations and for all stakeholders interested in the subject as the public power. Originality/value – Although in the international literature turnover is a topic of study for many years, in the Brazilian context, there is a shortage of research on the subject, specifically in the sector of advanced technology where there is a great lack of skilled labor, a fierce competition and where to keep employees standard high becomes a survival factor. This study may contribute to the exploration in the local literature, as it will help locate the academy on the Brazilian reality and open the doors to new research works on turnover and its possible correlations with other variables besides organizational commitment and job satisfaction.

IntroductionMetabolic syndrome (MetS) is an emergent problem among patients with epilepsy. Here, we evaluate and compare the diagnostic yield and accuracy of different MetS criteria among adult patients with epilepsy to further explore the best strategy for diagnosis of MetS among patients with epilepsy.Materials and methodsNinety-five epileptic adults from a tertiary epilepsy reference center were prospectively recruited over 22 weeks in a cross-sectional study. MetS was defined according to five international criteria used for the diagnosis of the condition [ATP3, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), International Diabetes Federation (IDF), AHA/NHLBI, and harmonized criteria]. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values (NPVs), and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) curve were estimated for each criterion.ResultsIn our sample, adult patients with epilepsy showed a high prevalence of obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Os sistemas de proteção solar cumprem um importante papel no controle seletivo de radiação solar no ambiente interior, interferindo, portanto, no desempenho luminoso, térmico e energético das edificações. Este artigo tem como objetivo realizar um estudo comparativo do desempenho de sistemas de proteção solar (fixos e móveis mecanizados) de uma edificação com elevado nível de isolamento térmico utilizando para isso a ferramenta Energy Management System (EMS) do software Energy Plus. As estratégias metodológicas propostas envolvem a análise da configuração de oito diferentes sistemas de proteção solar para os fechamentos transparentes, modelagem dos brise-soleils fixos, implementação do EMS para brise-soleis mecanizados e por fim, análise dos resultados das simulações realizadas. Foram avaliados os percentuais de conforto térmico e de consumo de energia elétrica considerando as zonas bioclimáticas brasileiras 1 e 8. Dentre os casos testados, o modelo com a utilização de persianas externas automatizadas pelo sistema EMS nos fechamentos transparentes apresentou os maiores percentuais de conforto térmico e o menor consumo de energia elétrica nas duas zonas bioclimáticas brasileiras analisadas.

A importância da internacionalização do ensino superior é uma questão já estabelecida na sociedade globalizada. Tratados entre países, acordos econômicos internacionais e queda das barreiras culturais são algumas das expressões do forte impacto da educação como uma esfera da formação multicêntrica. No Brasil, várias instituições de ensino adotaram como alternativa de formação a internacionalização de seus estudantes. No entanto, conquanto a importância estabelecida e todos os esforços realizados com relação à internacionalização do ensino superior, o que se percebe, no dia a dia de muitas escolas, é o baixo grau de conhecimento efetivo dos discentes no tocante às possibilidades de mobilidade internacional. Frente a essa situação e buscando encontrar opções para a superação desse problema, propôs-se este estudo sobre a familiaridade dos alunos de graduação de uma Instituição Federal de Ensino Superior (IFES), do curso de Administração, quanto à temática da internacionalização do ensino superior. Os dados coletados apontam para a confirmação da hipótese inicial, qual seja, a de que há uma grande disseminação do tema da internacionalização do ensino superior, mas a compreensão de sua efetividade é muito mais complexa do que realmente se apresenta.

Esta pesquisa propôs verificar o perfil dos acadêmicos do 10o período de Direito, de uma insti-tuição particular, do segundo semestre de 2011. Foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa de campo, de natureza descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa. Aplicou-se um questionário, com perguntas de múltipla escolha, a 64 acadêmicos. Os resultados revelaram que 72% dos entrevistados se mantêm informados sobre os acontecimentos do mundo diariamente, 53% lêem diariamente, 52%, fizeram ou fazem estágio extracurricular, 65,5% lêem, escrevem e falam outra língua, 94% participam de atividades não obrigatórias oferecidas pela instituição, 25% se envolvem em pro-jetos sociais e 10% desenvolvem pesquisas de iniciação científica. Este estudo constatou que os acadêmicos do 10o período de Direito dessa instituição, matriculados no segundo semestre de 2011, devem desenvolver trabalhos sociais, investir em leituras e no estudo de outra língua, bem como em pesquisas científicas, para se adequarem ao perfil necessário para o exercício da profissão, nos dias atuais, e terem mais chances de se inserirem no mercado de trabalho.

A presente pesquisa versa sobre a importância da paisagem no mundo da criança. Tem como objetivo refletir sobre a importância do desenho no ensino de Geografia nas séries iniciais para compreensão da paisagem. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foram realizadas oficinas com o propósito de compreender a interpretação que a paisagem assume no mundo da criança, em uma representação através do desenho. A pesquisa foi realizada com alunos da faixa etários de 6 a 12 anos matriculados no 1° e 5° ano do ensino fundamental na cidade de Porto Nacional, TO.

Adorno’s philosophical legacy came to be considered in researches in the area of business administration, especially in organizational studies (Batista-dos-Santos, Alloufa, & Nepomuceno, 2010; Faria, 2004; Paes de Paula, 2008, 2012). This paper is intended to contribute with epistemological reflections and their implications in the use of dialectic as a method of analysis. Adorno’s contributions to research in organization studies materialize in at least 6 ways: (a) the fight against totalitarian philosophical systems; (b) when ideas are elements from Praxis, these have concrete potential in the objective world; (c) the primacy of an object over a subject makes an object qualitatively distinct; (d) an object studied is nothing without a subject who will study it, because without the subject the object does not exist; (e) a subject thinks about reality principally through ideas and concepts; (f) as any reality studied cannot be fully knowable, it can only be known through what it shows, i.e. a non-concept can only be known through a concept, because a relationship of mutual existence allows us to consider the existence of a potential totality.

Este artigo intenciona contribuir no reconhecimento dos bebês como sujeitos (inter)ativos, de direitos e produtores de cultura. Com Schmitt (2008), problematizamos o lugar que eles muito ocuparam, de incapazes e não-importantes, e destacamos práticas, discursos e leis relevantes na forma como são entendidos pelos adultos. Trazemos, então, em um movimento não-adultocêntrico, discussões sobre o currículo das creches, centralizando-o, com Benjamin (2002) e Barbosa (2010), nas linguagens. E, a partir de Graue e Walsh (2003), Delgado e Müller (2005), entre outros autores, buscamos alguns aspectos que vêm sendo ressaltados nas pesquisas com crianças, que apontam tal metodologia como possibilidade de visibilidade das capacidades e especificidades potentes dos bebês. Esta reflexão atentou para o quanto eles sabem de si e possuem saberes que ainda não consideramos, lembrando o quão complexo é iniciar-se no mundo. Descobrir (com) os bebês permite, ainda, dar outros sentidos à passagem dessas crianças pequeníssimas pelas instituições educacionais coletivas.

No ano de 2008 a empresa Zanettini Arqueologia em interação com o IPHAN-AL iniciou um trabalho de identificação, registro e avaliação de sítios rupestres no sertão alagoano, objetivando a proposição de estratégias devotadas à fiscalização, conservação e uso público qualificado desses recursos culturais pelas populações da região. Deste trabalho originou o programa de diagnósticos de sítios rupestres no município de Pão de Açúcar, avaliando seus estados de conservação e propondo formas de uso qualificado desses locais. Além dos diagnósticos elaborados a partir das avaliações feitas sobre esses sítios, os dados coletados dentro desse programa forneceram rica documentação para pesquisas posteriores, focando principalmente no registro sistemático dos sítios e painéis rupestres. Esses sítios do sertão alagoano guardam uma notável arte, marcando e caracterizando essa área da região, pela qualidade, variedade formal, temática e técnicas aplicadas nas construções dos painéis. O objetivo desse trabalho é expor os métodos e as análises realizadas dentro desse programa, sobre o sítio de pinturas não-figurativas, o sítio Cosmezinho.

Uma das premissas básicas presentes nos discursos de apoio à internacionalização do ensino superior é a sua capacidade de promover o multiculturalismo, desencadeando a construção de curricula mais críticos e reflexivos. Esses novos arranjos curriculares transformariam as escolas no epicentro das transformações sociais, em busca de condições de vida mais igualitária para todos. No entanto, ao invés da promoção da diversidade cultural, tem-se a defesa de uma forma particular de cultura, que busca sua legitimação através da padronização dos curricula , dos programas de curso, dos idiomas e das experiências culturais. Esse quadro marcoestrutural da educação precisa ser intensamente discutido nas instituições de ensino superior. Com base numa leitura crítica de relatórios e artigos em defesa do sistema de internacionalização em curso, procurou-se revelar os interesses privados envolvidos, buscando argumentar a importância das funções política e crítica da educação superior.Una de las premisas básicas presentes en los discursos de apoyo a la internacionalización de la enseñanza superior es su capacidad de promover el multiculturalismo, originando la construcción de planes curriculares más críticos y reflexivos. Basados en la lectura crítica de informes y artículos en defensa del sistema de internalización en curso, se buscó revelar los intereses privados involucrados, para argumentar la importancia de las funciones política y crítica de la educación superior.One of the basic discourse premises in support of the internationalization of higher education is its ability to promote multiculturalism, helping the construction of more reflexive and critical curricula . These new curricula arrangements would transform schools in the epicentre of social transformations, seeking more egalitarian living conditions for all. However, instead of promoting cultural diversity, the internalization of higher education seems to spread a particular form of culture that seeks its legitimacy through the standardization of curricula , syllabi, language structure and cultural experiences. This macro structural education framework needs to be intensely discussed in higher education institutions. Based on a critical reflection of official reports and articles in defense of higher education internalization, we tried to reveal the private interests involved, in the hope of arguing for the importance of the political and critical objectives of higher education.

A great prevalence of psychiatric disorders in epilepsy is well demonstrated, although most studies have used unstructured psychiatric interviews for diagnosis. Here we present a study evaluating the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in a cohort of Southern Brazilian patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) using a structured clinical interview. We analyzed 166 patients with TLE regarding neuropsychiatric symptoms through the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV. One hundred-six patients (63.9%) presented psychiatric comorbidities. Mood disorders were observed in 80 patients (48.2%), anxiety disorders in 51 patients (30.7%), psychotic disorders in 14 (8.4%), and substance abuse in 8 patients (4.8%) respectively. Our results agree with literature data where most authors detected mental disorders in 10 to 60% of epileptic patients. This wide variation is probably attributable to different patient groups investigated and to the great variety of diagnostic methods. Structured psychiatric interviews might contribute to a better evaluation of prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in TLE.

Complexes of porphyrins and of other similar tetrapyrrolic macrocycles are extensively explored as catalysts for different chemical processes, and the development of solid catalysts for heterogeneous processes using molecules with the ability to act as multifunctional catalysts in one-pot reactions is increasing and can lead to the wider use of this class of molecules as catalysts. This mini review focuses on the application of this class of complexes as catalysts in a variety of sequential one-pot reactions.
