Abstract

From a documentary historical perspective, the commercial expansion of telecommunications systems from first-world countries that have maintained a dominant presence in Mexico for 100 years is analyzed. The activated FM receiver in cell phones, which Apple has decided not to activate, serves as an example of the need to regulate the power of multinational corporations, which diminishes visibility in public communication and social media. Neither the public pressure from authorities, industry, and civil society in Mexico, Canada, nor the United States has succeeded in dissuading the iPhone from allowing such signals on its devices, thereby favoring the sales of headphones, music services, and mobile broadband data payments. Abstract

The interaction of a two-level atom with a single-mode quantized field is one of the simplest models in quantum optics. Under the rotating wave approximation, it is known as the Jaynes-Cummings model and without it as the Rabi model. Real-world realizations of the Jaynes-Cummings model include cavity, ion trap and circuit quantum electrodynamics. The Rabi model can be realized in circuit quantum electrodynamics. As soon as nonlinear couplings are introduced, feasible experimental realizations in quantum systems are drastically reduced. We propose a set of two photonic lattices that classically simulates the interaction of a single two-level system with a quantized field under field nonlinearities and nonlinear couplings as long as the quantum optics model conserves parity. We describe how to reconstruct the mean value of quantum optics measurements, such as photon number and atomic energy excitation, from the intensity and from the field, such as von Neumann entropy and fidelity, at the output of the photonic lattices. We discuss how typical initial states involving coherent or displaced Fock fields can be engineered from recently discussed Glauber-Fock lattices. As an example, the Buck-Sukumar model, where the coupling depends on the intensity of the field, is classically simulated for separable and entangled initial states., Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

We propose a set of photonic crystals that realize a nonlinear quantum Rabi model equivalent to a two-level system driven by the phase of a quantized electromagnetic field. The crystals are exactly soluble in the weak-coupling regime and their dispersion relation is discrete. The system is diagonalized by normal modes equivalent to a dressed state basis. In the strong-coupling regime, we use perturbation theory and find that the dispersion relation is continuous and give the normal modes of the crystal in terms of continued fractions. We show that these photonic crystals allow state reconstruction in the form of coherent oscillations in the weak-coupling regime., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures

The thermodynamics of the Schwarzschild-AdS black hole is reformulated within the context of the recently developed formalism of geometrothermodynamics (GTD). Different choices of the metric in the equilibrium states manifold are used in order to reproduce the Hawking-Page phase transition as a divergence of the thermodynamical curvature scalar. Abstract

Individual tree species might affect underground soil properties to favor the decomposition of their own litter. However, in some studies, monospecific litter decomposed faster underneath multispecific canopies than under canopies of the same species as the litter, suggesting that plant diversity in the overstorey creates a more favorable decomposition microenvironment. We compared the decomposition rate of monospecific litter from eight temperate tree species under the crown of the same species as the litter (conspecific canopy), and a multispecific canopy formed by eight species. Using model selection, we determined the influence of the microenvironments, species, and litter chemistry on decomposition rates. The most robust model included the species and canopy type, but it differed only slightly from the model including only the species. Decomposition rates were significantly different among species and higher in conspecific canopy than multispecific canopy in all species. Models including specific leaf area and different combinations of chemical traits of the litter were less robust than the null model. These results show that the species origin of the litter was significantly more important than the microenvironment to explain litter decomposition rates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

En un mundo en el que los ataques cibernéticos van en aumento día a día, la ciberseguridad se alza como una barrera entre las compañías o individuos y los cibercriminales. Desafortunadamente, no todas las empresas disponen de capital para contratar a todo el personal necesario. Es por este motivo que se necesitan herramientas que faciliten el trabajo a los expertos en ciberseguridad. Herramientas como Hunt Down, una webapp que automatiza el proceso de pentesting. Por otro lado cada vez más personas con discapacidad intentan labrarse un futuro en el mundo de la ciberseguridad. Blindfolded Hunt Down es una extensión al proyecto de Hunt Down con dos objetivos principales: hacer la interfaz accesible a todas las personas y ofrecer más herramientas para ampliar su funcionalidad de pentesting. In a world where cyber attacks are increasing in a dayly basis, cybersecurity rises as a barrier between companies or individuals and cybercriminals. Unfortunately, not all companies have the capital to hire all the necessary staff. That is why tools are needed that make the work of cybersecurity experts easier. Tools like Hunt Down, a webapp that automates the process of penetration testing. On the other hand, more and more people with disabilities are trying to create a future in the world of cybersecurity. Blindfolded Hunt Down is an extension to the Hunt Down project with two main objectives: to make the interface accessible to all people and to offer more tools to expand its penetration testing functionality.
