Infant/toddler food (ITF) contamination with As is a severe issue of concern due to the fact that food is the second leading source of As after drinking water in the aspect of toxicity induced by nutrition. This study aimed to perform a preliminary assessment of As contamination in commercially available ITF in Libya, thus revealing possible exposure of consumers to As. ITF samples were purchased at supermarkets and were divided as follows: i) ITF containing cereal mixture (ITF-mix); ii) ITF containing wheat (ITF-wheat); and iii) ITF containing rice (ITF-rice). The total concentration of As was detected after wet digestion using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The highest mean concentration of As was detected for ITF-rice in comparison to other ITF samples. Sources of As in food are both, natural and human-induced; the main source of ITF contamination with As could be industrial food processing, manufacturing and storage, as well as cultivation specifics of crops. The study revealed the significance of monitoring or supervision over food safety, especially regarding ITF as these products are intended for the most vulnerable groups of consumers.

This paper is to study the drying method to reduce the moisture content (MC) of the woodchip. The methods used are to utilize the heat from solar and waste heat from the Biomass Power Plant (BioPP). By using a 250 °C heat waste from the BioPP, and stirring on the woodchip inside the drying equipment, the results obtained to reduce the MC from more than 40 % to MC around 20 % will take 2 h and 4 h faster than that which was not done on woodchips. Reducing MC from 40 % to 20 % will save 25.44 % on the woodchip consumption for combustion in the boiler of the BioPP. An analysis related to MC, CV, and woodchip consumption in generating electricity is also carried out. When MC is 26.70 %, the CV is 13.5 GJ T-1, and the woodchip consumption becomes 4.62 T h-1 and 1.31 T MWh-1, the energy produced is 764.7 kWh T-1. When the MC is higher, 47.68 %, causing the CV to become 9.8 GJ T-1, it is found that the consumption of the woodchips becomes 6.41 T h-1 and 1.81 T MWh-1, the energy produced is 551.3 kWh T-1.

The maintaining solution for keeping and storing waste over the last century has been landfilling as its costs are the lowest. A sustainable approach such as Landfill Mining (LFM) can be applied to recover Rare Earth Elements (REEs) and other valuable metals from waste that make fundamental assets in terms of economy and essential for developing industrial technologies. This study investigated concentrations of REEs and other metals in waste material. Samples from Ida-Virumaa (Estonia) landfilled waste fine fraction was taken to see the element concentration proceeded through sequential extraction. Additionally, the method of clay modification was developed that may serve as a sorbent to extract the REEs from the inert landfill fine fraction waste using hydroxyapatite modified clay. The amount of REEs might become of industrial interest if a feasible landfill mining approach for remediation of landfills and degraded industrial soils would be applied together with innovative recovery methods, e.g., sorption by modified clays.

Dried rice, an organic waste recycling product, is made from dried rice leftovers. With a carbohydrate content nearly equivalent to corn but at a lower price, it has potential as an energy-generating feed, especially in poultry farming. The nutrient content and price of dried rice were evaluated to assess its efficiency for animal feed use. Dried rice samples from three areas in East Java, Indonesia, were analyzed for moisture, ash, crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber content. Additionally, this research assesses the effectiveness of dried rice as a corn substitute in broiler feed by observing its impact on feed intake, average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, and broiler performance index. Proximate analysis showed insignificant differences among treatments, with moisture content ranging 12.45–12.71%, ash content 0.55–1.31%, crude protein 10.34–10.64%, crude fat 0.12–2.48%, and crude fiber from 0.81 to 1.55%. Although all samples were assessed as efficient, products from Lumajang and Pasuruan were preferred for feed production due to their similarity to corn nutrient content. Dried rice costs approximately USD 213–228 per ton, significantly lower than corn. Dried rice production reduces both organic waste and poultry production costs concurrently, serving as a sustainable waste management model in Indonesia and other rice-producing countries, shifting towards a bioeconomy from a linear economy. Experimental studies of the CPO (Crude Palm Oil) fuel pre-treatment system for diesel power plants with a capacity of 2 544 kW were carried out to determine the fuel heating temperature requirements and to evaluate the reliability of the pre-treatment system. The fuel pre-treatment consists of the heating process, mechanical separation process and filtering process. The CPO at the booster module was heated from 64 °C to 81 °C by set the thermal oil temperature. The result shows that a minimum CPO heating of 78 °C is required in the booster module to produced kinematic viscosity CPO less than 13 cSt at the engine inlet. When there is a disturbance in the thermal boiler system, CPO deposits are found in the booster module strainer, which clogs the fuel supply to the engine, causing hunting loads. Redundancy equipment is needed to increase the reliability of the pre-treatment system. In addition, it is also necessary to add a heating process through the CPO fuel line starting from the storage tank to the engine inlet so that the thermal loss that occurs can be minimized and the work of the thermal boiler is reduced.

The purpose of this research is to design a solar panel cleaning tool that is easy to operate and can adjust the size of the installed solar panels. There are several factors that can affect the performance of solar panels, namely the placement of solar panels that cause accumulation of dust, bird droppings and water (salt) stains. The traditional cleaning system is still done manually. Manual cleaning has several disadvantages such as panel damage, risk of worker accidents, movement difficulties, poor maintenance, and others. Therefore, a solar panel cleaning tool is needed on the market that can help optimize solar panel performance and is easy to operate. The method used in this research is to design a prototype solar panel cleaner that can be operated easily and can be adjusted according to the size of the installed solar panel. The result of this research is a prototype of a solar panel cleaning tool with a total mass of 6 kg and easy to operate with a microcontroller system. Effectively this equipment shows the function of the cleaning tool to do its job, namely cleaning dust. Furthermore, this research needs to analyze the techno-economics of addition batteries to facilitate operation.

Vegetables can be extended their shelf life by processing them into vegetable flour. Flour processing technology is inseparable from the drying process which means removing water from a material until it reaches a certain moisture content. This study aims to determine the effect of various temperatures at various stages of drying on the characteristics of the material to become mustard green flour. Drying it using a cabinet dryer at temperatures of 45 oC, 55 oC, and 65 oC. Observations were made at 0 h of drying (analysis of raw materials), 2 h, 4 h, and after turning into mustard green flour. The results showed that the drying temperature had an effect on the changes in the characteristics of the material during the drying process until it turned into mustard green flour. During the drying process, there was a decrease in moisture content, ash content, total chlorophyll, and physical color of the mustard green flour. Drying temperature has an effect on decreasing moisture content, ash content, total chlorophyll and physical color of mustard green flour, while drying time affects total chlorophyll and physical color of mustard green flour.

This study aims to assess the factors influential towards decision made by consumers to purchase hydroponic products. A quantitative research employing factor analysis, 100 samples were established as per accidental random sampling. The observed 11 variables – classified in four groups – were of hydroponic product feature (packing, size, freshness, and crunchiness), hydroponic product value (competitiveness and price), customer’s background (income, education, association, and family size), and place (service). The result shows that those who chose the products were mostly female (98) – 73 of them are housewives – aged between 37 and 42 (42) with at least senior high school educational background (69).

This study aims to obtain the incentives strategy that can increase the participation of energy users greater than or equal to 6000-TOE in fulfilling their obligations on energy conservation through energy management with Sustainable Energy Performance (SEP). Several steps need to be carried out. First, data collection on industries that must carry out energy management, and will be analyzed to determine the level of compliance of energy users. Second, ensure that already have carried out an energy-saving program with the SEP. Third, formulating incentive schemes for energy users. Fourth, the interest deduction for the company when they implement the SEP. The results show that only 10.25 % fully comply with the regulation, 36.89 % are partially compliant and 52.87 % are not compliant with energy management activities at all. For industries that have implemented energy conservation and SEP, several benefits are obtained, including capital expenditure (capex) savings when purchasing new imported equipment for creating another energy efficiency, by up to 30 % and incentives in the form of lowering interest rates by up to 4 %.

Gasification is the process converting solid fuels as coal and organic plant matter, or biomass into combustible gas, called syngas. Gasification is a thermal conversion process using carbonaceous fuel, and it differs substantially from other thermal processes such as incineration or pyrolysis. The process can be used with virtually any carbonaceous fuel. It is an endothermic thermal conversion process, with partial oxidation being the dominant feature. Gasification converts various feedstock including waste to a syngas. Instead of producing only heat and electricity, synthesis gas produced by gasification may be transformed into commercial products with higher value as transport fuels, fertilizers, chemicals and even to substitute natural gas. Thermo-chemical conversion of biomass and solid municipal waste is developing as a tool to promote the idea of energy system without fossil fuels to a reality. In municipal solid waste management, gasification does not compete with recycling, moreover it enhances recycling programs. Pre-processing and after-processing must increase the amount of recyclables in the circular economy. Additionally, end of life plastics can serve as an energy feedstock for gasification as otherwise it cannot be sorted out and recycled. There is great potential for application of gasification technology within the biomass waste and solid waste management sector. Industrial self-consumption in the mode of combined heat and power can contribute to sustainable economic development within a circular economy.

Hebel brick is used in making the walls of the house. One of the materials used in making hebel bricks is sand. The water content of the sand will affect the quality of the hebel bricks. The less water content in the sand, the better the quality of hebel bricks. In order to get sand with a little water content, it is necessary to do the drying process. To overcome this problem, a rotary dryer for sand drying using renewable energy, particular biomass energy sources was designed. It can be placed in a sand quarry near a river or near a beach. It is designed to have the ability to dry the wet sand by putting it in a rotary dryer, making this drying system usable both in sunny and rainy conditions. The drying process can take place continuously using heat from biomass energy. The heat is produced from the combustion process in the biomass furnace and then distributed to the rotary dryer. The advantage of this rotary dryer system could be done continuously with a little human power. Moreover, from these calculations can be analyzed the performance of this rotary dryer machine, to determine the suitability between design calculations and test results.

Indonesian villages are facing dangerous condition. Every year, young people are deserting the villages. To overcome this problem, Tangsi Jaya hamlet, West Java, has been provided with 18 kW micro-hydro to supply electricity both to the community and to Small Processing Center for ground coffee production. Results of cash flow analysis for ground coffee in Tangsi Jaya hamlet, with total investment of IDR 110 750 000 and discount rate of 18 % for 5 yr. Banyumeneng I hamlet, Yogyakarta with an investment cost IDR 95 000 000 and production cost of IDR 34 195 000 yr–1 and the interest rate of 14 % yr–1, the payback period was estimated to be 3 yr with ROI of 40 %. PEST analysics indicate that the higher electricity tariff and interest rate while the higher the value of technology and number of people involve with the SPC will result in the bigger value of ROI. Renewable energy technology could be used for value added activities in rural areas, create small industries, provide job opportunities to the local people and create conditions for sustainable economic development. However, vigilance is needed because small industries can also cause pollution because they produce waste

This Study investigate The Effect of Product Knowledge on salesperson Performance with the moderating Role of Attitude. Amout of 65 from 72 questionnaires are considered valid for further analysis. Data analysis used Partial Least Square (PLS) with the smartPLS software version 3.0. Data analysis was performed to assess the measurement model and the inner model. The result revealed that one hypothesis was supported and the other one was not supported. Product knowledge influence the salesperson performance while attitude did not moderate the influence of product knowledge on the salesperson performance. This result of study enhances the insight of the sales manager that attitude did not moderate the salesperson performance. Manager needs to review the training of the salesperson in order the attitude contribute to the salesperson performance.

Estimation of the energy demand in Indonesia will increase by 8.15 % annually until 2030. Indonesia is committed to preventing climate change through mix energy (new and renewable energy). One of the sources of this energy is waterpower plants with a potential of 75 091 MW have been utilized 6.4 %, mini-hydro, and micro-hydro with a potential of 19 385 MW have been utilized 1 %. In the Industrial Revolution 4.0, it is doable to identify such potential using drone. This study was conducted in the Kalibawang irrigation area, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The procedure starts with the generation of detailed Aerial Photography using Drone DJI Phantom 4. The images from aerial photography were then processed into high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM). DEM data represent the study area topography and can be used to identify the stream gradient potential or height difference (H). Six potential points were identified with height differences between 3 m to 8 m, resulting in the potential generated power ranging from 125 kW to 334 kW. This study demonstrates the identification of micro-hydro energy potential points, height difference, and generated power using Drone. Six points were identified with total potential energy 1 418 kW.

Indonesia is an archipelago that has a wealth of marine fish resources, and the country with the second-longest coastline in the world. The improvement witnessed in the economy of Indonesia in recent years, is as a result of the growth experienced in various sectors, among which is the fisheries and marine. To overcome this problem, a portable conveyor system of moving equipment for fishermen’s catches was designed. It can be placed at the dock or port where the fishermen are anchored and unloading the fishermen’s catches from the sea. It designed to have the ability to move up and down in the moving frame, making this conveyor system can be used both in high tides and low tides of seawater level conditions. The advantage of this portable conveyor system is could be done continuously with a little human power. Other than that, from the results of the calculations, known that with increasing motor rotation, the required traveling time will only become shorter. The resulting conveyor capacity shows an increase. Also, it can use drive motors that are available on the market with a power capacity of 0.37 kW. Therefore, the process of this portable conveyor system can be more efficient.

Pico hydro or a small scale hydroelectric power plant is used as the rotating energy of the generator. Pico hydro is a hydroelectric power plant that has a power of less than 5 kW. Technically, Pico hydro has three main components namely water, turbine and generator. Turbine type propeller reaction has a special profile that causes a decrease in water pressure during the blades. This pressure difference exerts force on the blade so that the runner (rotating part of the turbine) can rotate. Permanent magnets are used to produce magnetic flux. Permanent magnets used are rare-eatrhrod magnet material, neodymium-iron-boron NdFeB with N35 type. The planned generator released is 36.85 V, 500 rpm, 50 hz. This designed water turbine has four blades which cannot change its angle. As for the measurement results produce a voltage of 35.1 V with a manufacturing efficiency of 95 %. Charging the battery voltage must be more than 12 V, therefore the generator must be turned at least 200 rpm with a voltage of 14 V to be used for charging batteries.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential for energy savings because the laundry industry consumes a lot of energy and water. If the laundry industries are not controlled, it will cause serious environmental and energy problems. The audit activity was divided into three stages. Pre-audit stage, the auditors were divided into groups with clear details of tasks and responsibilities, starting with conducting energy audits on the floor, analyzing statistical data, and process flow. Site audit stage; conduct an audit on the floor from the beginning to the end of the process, then collecting and confirming the statistical data for energy and production. Post-audit stage, complete the audit report that will be submitted or presented to the laundry management, which consists of; audit findings with loss or savings analysis, accompanied by recommendations for further improvement. The results show that there are many savings opportunities, especially by overcoming the energy wasted in the production process. Improvements can be made by overcoming energy waste and controlling energy consumption and production more efficiently, implementing renewable energy technology such as solar dryer and hybrid photovoltaic and thermal (PVT) collector, and then considering industrial revolution 4.0 with IoT and ICT.
