The member churches of the Anglican Communion take different approaches to the admission of children to communion before they are confirmed. This article surveys developments in the Church of England, which introduced the practice experimentally in 1996 and gave it official sanction in 2006. Since then, dioceses have developed materials for preparation and training. There is a noticeable emphasis on the meal and community aspects of the eucharist in this provision, which tends to draw rather selectively on Scripture to provide a foundation. More active involvement of biblical scholars, theologians and liturgists would provide balance and depth. In the life of the church, such dialogue might contribute towards more imaginative involvement of children in the eucharist, beyond simply allowing them to be communicants.

The 2021 Congress of Societas Liturgica found the Society operating in new territory, as it embarked on its first online gathering. The presidential address sought first to acknowledge the pressures and difficulties experienced in different ways by participants all over the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. It went on to reflect on the Congress theme—Liturgy and the Arts. While enormous practical and financial limitations have been placed on the arts, including the liturgical arts, in recent times, new possibilities have been discovered. These include new ways of paying attention, not least, thanks to digital means. While some worshipping communities may choose to abandon many of the elements of pre-pandemic liturgy, others will continue to draw on the riches of tradition. In these conditions, there is a need for the kind of intelligent openness that both recognizes the potential for transformation in ordinary things and makes space for the transformative power of extraordinary things.

[EN] As firms increasingly focus on corporate sustainability initiatives and offer more sustainability-related products, there is a need to continually assess consumer attitudes towards and involvement in sustainable consumption. Additionally, there is a need to determine if some consumer characteristics may typify how they think, feel, and behave towards sustainability initiatives. Based on an online sample of 1,250 U.S. consumers, this present research utilizes a cross-sectional design to examine whether generational cohort and gender help explain variations in how consumers react to the notion of sustainability. This research is also focused on sustainability in the food and grocery industry. The find ings suggest that attitudes towards sustainability and the degree to which consumers feel sustainability is important is more positive for younger consumers and women. The Baby Boomer generation is less interested in sustainable consumption and less likely to be persuaded by sustainability claims. The main limitations of this study are that data were collected only through self-reporting from consumers in the United States. For marketers promoting sustainability-related products, this data should help them better understand segments of the U.S. market and develop more successful promotional initiatives. Knowing the nuances of how generational cohorts think about sustainability and how they may consider it when making purchase decisions should motivate marketers to utilize these differences when creating their marketing mix. Though some marketers are moving away from gender-based promotional tactics, the findings also suggest that gender segmentation could still be useful when it comes to sustainability-related products. OBJECTIVES: Twelve % of women have difficulty becoming pregnant. While various options are available, many women may be interested in nutrition as a possible approach to support fertility. Recommendations about fertility nutrition can be complex and confusing, particularly with conflicting information by both professionals and popular press. This research is designed to assess characteristics of nutrition recommendations for preconception in the popular press as well as effectiveness of an educational module concerning healthful dietary fats and diet patterns. METHODS: Investigated consumer literature in popular books and online articles (Keywords: fertility nutrition, preconception, fertility fats, fertility diet). Assessed if they were: supported by science, presented by authors with advanced degree, included healthful fat and dietary pattern recommendations. Developed educational module based on current science literature regarding healthful fats and diet patterns. Pre- and post-data about participant's opinions and knowledge of module topics were gathered via online REDCap questionnaire. Target audience included women of reproductive age, specifically focused on preconception. Each aim was organized in Excel and examined with descriptive statistics using SPSS. RESULTS: Comparing 12 books and 12 website articles in popular consumer literature about fertility, 50% of authors included scientific references, 50% of authors had a master's degree or higher in health profession field. All resources included information about healthful fats. Pre-post survey results of 51 responses to educational module showed that 58.8% (pre) knew difference between unsaturated and saturated fats with 96% post. They recognized that fish is highest in omega-3 fatty acids from options listed at 86.3% (pre) and 92% post. Participants recognized need to include more unsaturated fat in their diets changed from 82.4% to 92%. A Mediterranean-style diet was followed by 24% of participants. CONCLUSIONS: Evaluation of availability and opinions of consumer education resources could assist fertility professionals in recommending literature that is appropriate for patients. An online module showed increasing knowledge about healthful fats. FUNDING SOURCES: None.

Popular discussion often treats ‘liturgy’ and ‘worship’ as related but different entities. Liturgy is identified with text, worship with action; liturgy connotes intellectual activity, while worship suggests something affective and directly of the heart and spirit. This article refuses the distinction, and uses the two terms more or less interchangeably. In its most elementary form, it asks how liturgy can be admitted to the category of literature. The discussion takes up the question, broadening the scope from the kinds of liturgical texts that might be read as literature, to a consideration of how liturgical texts might be literary.
