Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk memberi edukasi berupa penyuluhan dan pelatihan membuat alat sederhana untuk mendeteksi kandungan boraks pada makanan sehingga dapat membantu masyarakat dalam memilih bahan pangan yang aman dan sehat. Sasaran kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat adalah ibu-ibu rumah tangga di Kecamatan Lontar KotaSurabaya. Berdasarkan penelusuran awal, target sasaran pengabdian masyarakat belum mengenali ciri-ciri bahan pangan yang mengandung boraks, bahayanya bagi kesehatan dan cara mendeteksi adanya boraks. Metode Pengabdian Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Akademi Farmasi Surabaya meliputi metode sosialisasi pengenalan boraks, bahaya boraks terhadap kesehatan dan ciri-ciri makanan yang mengandung boraks; tanya jawab (diskusi) dan uji bahan makanan menggunakan kunyit dengan media tusuk gigi dan kertas saring. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan adanya pemahaman masyarakat terhadap bahan tambahan pangan boraks dan bahayanya dalam makanan menjadi meningkat. Masyarakat juga menjadi termotivasi untuk mengenali keamanan bahan pangan yang dikonsumsi dengan membuat alat sederhana pendeteksi boraks menggunakan kunyit.Â

Penyalahgunaan bahan tambahan pangan (BTP) yang masih sering terjadi adalah boraks. Boraks biasanya digunakan untuk meningkatkan kekenyalan, kerenyahan dan memberikan tekstur padat pada makanan seperti kerupuk. Boraks dilarang penggunaannya dalam kerupuk karena dapat menyebabkan berbagai macam penyakit seperti gangguan saraf pusat, kerusakan pada hati dan sistem kardiovaskular. Studi penelitian dan media massa pada beberapa pasar tradisional di Indonesia telah membuktikan dan memverifikasi adanya boraks pada kerupuk. Oleh sebab itu, peneliti ingin melakukan penelitian keberadaan boraks pada kerupuk di Pasar Blauran Kota Salatiga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui secara kuantitatif status boraks dan persentase kadar boraks dalam kerupuk yang dijual di Pasar Blauran Kota Salatiga tahun 2023. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Sampel tersebut adalah kerupuk terung putih merk X dan Y dan kerupuk gendar merk X dan Y. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu perendaman 10 menit dan 30 menit. Setiap perlakuan per sampel dilakukan ulangan sebanyak tiga kali sehingga diperoleh 24 unit sampel perlakuan. Hasil analisis sampel menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-VIS menunjukkan bahwa keempat merk sampel kerupuk terdapat kandungan boraks dalam batas tidak aman. Kandungan boraks tertinggi yaitu pada kerupuk terung putih X perendaman 30 menit (731,974 ppm) dan terendah pada kerupuk terung putih Y perendaman 10 menit (118,055 ppm). Frequent abuse of additional food (BTP) is borax. The borax is usually used to increase plasticity, diffusion and give solid texture to foods such as crackers. The borax is prohibited from its use in crackers because it can cause a variety of diseases such as central neurological disorders, damage to the liver and the cardiovascular system. Research studies and mass media studies at several traditional markets in Indonesia have proven and verified the presence of boraks in crackers. Hence, researchers want to do research on the existence of boraks in crackers in Salatiga City markets. The purpose of this study was to know quantitatively the status of boraks and the percentage of boraks in crackers sold in Salatiga City market in 2023. This kind of research is a quantitative descriptive study. Sample was taken using a sampling method. Those samples are white egg crackers X and Y and white crackers X and Y, a treatment given in 10 minutes and 30 minutes. Each sample treatment was performed three times over so that 24 units of samples were obtained. Analysis of the sample using uv-vis spectrophotometer indicates that the four mark of the crackers sample contains a borax content within the limit. The highest known borax content is in 30 minutes of white egg crackers X (731.974 ppm) and the lowest on white egg crackers Y soaking 10 minutes (118,055 ppm).

Boraks merupakan salah satu bahan kimia berbahaya yang tidak diperbolehkan untuk digunakan dalam makanan. Bahan Tambahan Pangan (BTP) yang berbahaya jika dikonsumsi akan memberikan dampak yang buruk bagi kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi kandungan boraks pada jajanan bakso daging sapi di Kecamatan Baolan, Kabupaten Tolitoli. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif berupa uji deteksi kandungan boraks menggunakan tepung kunyit dan uji daya tahan penyimpanan bakso sebagai uji konfirmasi penegasan deteksi kandungan boraks. Total 13 sampel bakso yang dianalisis, sebanyak 9 sampel bakso diperoleh dari pedagang bakso dengan warung menetap, sedangkan 4 sampel lainnya diperoleh dari pedagang bakso gerobak. Pemeriksaan kualitatif berupa uji deteksi boraks menggunakan tepung kunyit dan tusuk gigi. Pengamatan ciri fisik dilakukan melalui uji daya simpan bakso. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak satu pun bakso yang terdeteksi mengandung boraks dari jajanan bakso daging sapi yang diambil dari pedagang bakso di Kecamatan Baolan, Kabupaten Tolitoli.

Aim: Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks third in terms of malignancy and second in cancer-related deaths, accounting for approximately 10% of cancer-related deaths. Ferroptosis is a potential iron-induced cell death pathway that could increase the anti-cancer efficacy of therapeutics in preventing drug resistance in the treatment of many cancers, including CRC. In this study, we aimed to investigate the anti-proliferative effects of borax via ferroptosis signaling pathway in CRC cells.Material and Methods: Firstly, we determined the cytotoxic concentrations of borax (range 0 to 64 mM) with the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Subsequently, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPx4), acyl-CoA synthetase long chain family member 4 (ACSL4), malondialdehyde (MDA) and 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels were determined in HCT-116 cells incubated with cytotoxic borax concentrations for 24 hours.Results: Borax at 1 and 4 mM concentrations did not affect cell viability, while borax at 8 mM and above concentrations significantly reduced viability in HTC-116 cells (p, Amaç: Kolorektal kanser (CRC), kansere bağlı ölümlerin yaklaşık %10'unu oluşturmasıyla, malignite yönünden üçüncü ve kansere bağlı ölümlerde ikinci sırada yer almaktadır. Ferroptoz, CRC dahil çok sayıda kanserin tedavisinde ilaç direncini önlemede terapötiklerin anti-kanser etkinliğini arttırabilecek potansiyel demire bağlı hücre ölüm yolağıdır. Bu çalışmada CRC hücrelerinde ferroptozu sinyal yolağı üzerinden boraksın anti-proliferatif etkilerini araştırmak amaçlandı.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Öncelikle, boraksın sitotoksik konsantrasyonları (0-64 mM aralığında) 3-(4,5-dimetiltiazol-2-il)-2,5-difenil tetrazolyum bromür (MTT) testi ile belirlendi. Daha sonra sitotoksik boraks konsantrasyonları ile 24 saat inkübe edilen HCT-116 hücrelerinde glutatyon peroksidaz 4 (GPx4), açil-KoA sentetaz uzun zincirli aile üyesi 4 (ACSL4), malondialdehit (MDA) ve 8-hidroksideoksiguanozin (8-OHdG) seviyeleri belirlendi.Bulgular: 1 ve 4 mM boraks konsantrasyonları hücre canlılığını etkilemezken, 8 mM ve üzerindeki boraks konsantrasyonları HTC-116 hücrelerinde canlılığı anlamlı şekilde düşürmüştür (p

U ovom radu ispitivano je kako brzina hlađenja matične otopine utječe na rast kristala dinatrijevog tetraborat dekahidrata (boraksa) tijekom sonokristalizacije. Ispitivanja su se provodila u šaržnom kristalizatoru laboratorijskog mjerila s pregradama i radijalnim turbinskim miješalom čija je brzina vrtnje bila jednaka potrebnoj za postizanje stanja potpune suspenzije kristala (N JS = 324 o min -1 ). Ultrazvučno djelovanje na otopinu provodilo se pomoću homogenizatora, frekvencije 24 kHz i snage 400 W, kontinuirano pri 20 % amplitudi. Kristalizacija se provodila iz matične otopine zasićene pri 30 °C hlađenjem do temperature od 10 °C pri brzinama od 4, 6, 8, 10 °C h -1 . Kako bi se dobio uvid u utjecaj ultrazvuka na navedeni proces također se provodila i kristalizacija bez njegovog djelovanja pri istovjetnim procesnim uvjetima (N JS = 324 o min -1 , T z = 30 °C) i brzini hlađenja od 6 °C h -1 . Tijekom eksperimenta, nakon nuleacije, provodila se analiza kristala u matičnoj otopini metodom laserske difrakcije te se istodobno određivala i koncentracija matične otopine refraktometrijskom metodom. Iz rezultata provedenih analiza sagledane su promjene raspodjele veličina kristala, srednjeg volumnog promjera kristala i njegove standardne devijacije te specifične površine kristala tijekom procesnog vremena pri svim ispitivanim uvjetima. Produkti kristalizacije pri navedenim procesnim uvjetima su također podvrgnuti granulometrijskoj analizi prosijavanjem te je analiziran i njihov oblik. Za sve ispitivane uvjete određen je i utrošak snage privedene sustavu tijekom miješanja i ultrazvučnog djelovanja. Iz rezultata je uočeno da se u procesu sonokristalizacije bez obzira na brzinu hlađenja matične otopine svojstva kristala ne mijenjaju bitno s obzirom na raspodjelu veličina i njihovu srednju veličinu. Najveći utjecaj brzine hlađenja odrazio se na promjenu specifične površine kristala koja je pak posljedica sekundarne nukleacije u sustavu. S druge strane, kad se usporede rezultati provedenih analiza u sustavima sa ultrazvukom sa sustavom bez ultrazvuka može se zaključiti da utjecaj ultrazvučnog djelovanja na svojstva kristala značajno nadmašuje utjecaj brzine hlađenja. In this work, the influence of the cooling rate of the mother liquor on the growth of crystals of disodium tetraborate decahydrate (borax) during sonocrystallization was studied. The test was carried out in a batch laboratory crystallizer equipped with a radial turbine with four blades whose rotation speed was equal to that required to achieve a state of complete crystal suspension (N JS = 324 rpm). Ultrasonic irradiation of the solution was carried out with a homogenizer with a frequency of 24 kHz and a power of 400 W, continuously at 20% of the amplitude. Crystallization was carried out from a mother liquor saturated at 30 °C by cooling to a temperature of 10 °C at rates of 4, 6, 8, 10 °C h -1 . In order to gain insight into the influence of ultrasound on the process, crystallization was performed without ultrasound, under the same process conditions (N JS = 324 rpm, Tz = 30 °C) at a cooling rate of 6 °C h -1 . During the experiment, after nucleation, crystals in the mother liquor were analyzed by laser diffraction method and at the same time, concentration of the mother liquor was determined using the refractometric method. Changes were observed in crystal size distribution, mean volume diameter of the crystals and its standard deviation, as well as the specific surface area of the crystals during process time. The obtained products were subjected to sieve analysis, and the shape of the crystals was also analyzed. For all investigated process conditions, the power supplied to the systems by mixing and ultrasonic radiation was determined. From the results, it was observed that during the sonocrystallization process, regardless of the cooling rate of the mother liquor, the properties of the crystals do not change significantly with regard to the size distribution and their average size. The greatest influence of the cooling rate was reflected on the change in the crystal specific surface area, which is a consequence of secondary nucleation in the systems. On the other hand, comparing the results obtained in systems with and without ultrasound, it can be concluded that the influence of ultrasound on crystal properties significantly exceeds the influence of the cooling rate.

Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitati utjecaj veličine miješala u kristalizatoru sa i bez ultrazvučnog djelovanja na rast kristala boraksa tijekom šaržne kristalizacije pri kritičnoj brzini vrtnje miješala (N = N JS ). Kristalizacija se provodila u kristalizatoru laboratorijskog mjerila, hlađenjem matične otopine zasićene pri 30 °C do temperature od 15 °C, brzinom od 6 °C h -1 . U radu je korišteno radijalno turbinsko miješalo s četiri ravne lopatice (tzv. SBT miješalo), a kako bi se sagledao utjecaj njegove veličine na granulometrijske karakteristike kristala ispitivanja su se provodila pri tri različita promjera miješala, pri čemu su omjeri promjera miješala i promjera kristalizatora, D/d T , iznosili 0,43, 0,53 te 0,63. Istovjetna ispitivanja su provedena u kristalizatoru s djelovanjem ultrazvuka amplitude snage od 20 % kao i u kristalizatoru bez ultrazvučnog djelovanja. Tijekom provedbe eksperimenata provodila se granulometrijska analiza rastućih kristala metodom laserske difrakcije te je sagledan utjecaj promjera SBT miješala na vremensku promjenu funkcije gustoće raspodjele kristala u sustavu sa i bez djelovanja ultrazvuka kao i na promjenu srednjeg volumnog promjera kristala te koeficijenta varijacije. Kako bi se dobio uvid o utjecaju hidrodinamičkih uvjeta u kristalizatoru na karakteristike rastućih kristala te detektirala pojava aglomeracije kristala i sekundarne nukleacije sagledavane su fotografije kristala analiziranih optičkim mikroskopom kao i njihova specifična površina. Granulometrijskom analizom konačnog produkta utvrđeno je da se s povećanjem miješala srednja veličina kristala u oba sustava povećava. U sustavima bez ultrazvuka također se povećava udio finijih i grubljih kristala u produktu uslijed povećane sekundarne nukleacije i aglomeracije. U sustavma s ultrazvukom aglomeracija je izbjegnuta, a kristali su bili gotovo dvostruko manji, ali pravilniji. Također je određena i snaga privedena uslijed miješanja i ultrazvučnog djelovanja. Utvrđeno je da se ona u oba sustava neznatno povećavala s veličinom miješala, a u sustavu s ultrazvukom je bila gotovo petnaest puta veća. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of impeller size in the crystallizer with and without the ultrasound irradiation on crystal growth of borax during batch crystallization at the critical impeller speed (N = N JS ). Crystallization is carried out in a laboratory scale crystallizer by cooling the mother liquor saturated at 30 °C to a temperature of 15 °C, at the rate of 6 °C h -1 . A radial straight four blade turbine (abbrev. SBT) was used in the work, and the influence of impeller size on the formed crystals properties was examined at impeller to crystallizer diameter ratios, D/d T , of 0.43, 0.53 and 0.63, respectively. The same examinations were conducted in a crystallizer with an ultrasound irradiation at amplitude of 20 %, as in a silent crystallizer as well. During the experiments, a granulometric analysis of the growing crystals was performed by the laser diffraction method, and influence of the SBT impeller diameter on the changes of volume density crystal size distribution over process time was analysed in the system with and without ultrasound. The changes of the volume mean crystal diameter and its coefficient of variation over process time were also determined. In order to gain insight into the influence of hydrodynamic conditions in the crystallizer on the growing crystals habit and to detect the appearance of crystal agglomeration and secondary nucleation, photographs of crystals analysed with an optical microscope as well as their specific surface area were analysed respectively. The granulometric analysis of the final product revealed that the average crystal size in both systems increased with an increase in impeller size. In the silent systems, the proportion of finer and coarser crystals in the product also increased due to increased secondary nucleation and agglomeration. In the irradiated systems agglomeration was avoided, while the crystals were more than twice as smaller, but of a more regular shape. The power consumption due to stirring and ultrasound irradiation was also determined. In in both systems it slightly increased with impeller size, but in the system with ultrasound it was almost fifteen times higher.

Bu çalışma Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarımsal Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi deneme alanında 2018-2019 yetiştirme sezonunda iki faktörlü tesadüf blokları deneme deseninde üç tekerrürlü olarak ekmeklik buğday (Triticum aestivum L.) çeşitlerinde farklı bor dozu uygulamalarının verim ve verim komponentleri üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada Golia ve Pehlivan çeşitleri kullanılmıştır. B gübrelemesi için bor kaynağı olarak boraks (Na2B4O7.10H2O) kullanılmış ve B düzeyleri için gerekli boraks (Na2B4O7.10H2O) miktarları (0, 0,15, 0,3, 0,45 ve 0,6 kg B da-1) arazide deneme planına uygun olarak parsellere toprak yüzeyine sıvı olarak püskürtülerek dağıtılmıştır. Çalışmada; bitki boyu, başak uzunluğu, başakta başakçık sayısı, başakta tane sayısı, başakta tane ağırlığı, tane verimi, 1000 tane ağırlığı ve hektolitre ağırlığı özellikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada topraktan uygulanan bor dozlarının araştırmada incelenen başakta tane ağırlığı, 1000 tane ağırlığı, hektolitre ağırlığı ve tane verimi özelliklerine etkisinin önemli olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, en yüksek tane verimi 531,95 kg da ile 0,3 kg B da-1 uygulanmasından elde edilirken, bunu 531,35 kgda-1 ile 0,15 kg B da-1 ve 527,43 kgda-1 ile 0,45 kg B da-1 dozu izlemiştir. Tane verimi özelliği bakımından Çeşit x Bor dozu interaksiyonları incelendiğinde; Golia çeşidinde en yüksek tane veriminin 550,43 kg da-1 ile 0,15 kg B da-1 dozundan elde edildiği, en düşük değerin ise 454,43 kg da-1 ile kontrol uygulanmasından elde edildiği saptanmıştır. Pehlivan çeşidinde ise en yüksek ve düşük değerler sırasıyla 578,43 kg da-1 ile 0,3 kg B da-1 dozundan ve 512,26 kg da-1 ile 0,15 kg B da-1 dozundan elde edilmiştir. This study was carried out in Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Agriculture Agricultural Application and Research Center’s experimental area in the 2018-2019 growing season in two-factor random blocks experimental design with three replications to determine the effects of different boron dose applications on yield and yield components of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties. In the study; plant height, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of grains per spike, grain weight per spike, grain yield, 1000 grain weight and hectoliter weight properties were investigated. At the end of the experiment, it was determined that the effects of boron doses applied from the soil were significant. on the grain weight/ pers pike, 1000 grain weight, hectoliter weight and grain yield characteristics . In the study, when the grain yield values were examined in terms of applied B doses, the highest grain yield was obtained from the application of 0.3 kg B da-1 by 531.95 kg da-1, while it was followed by 0.15 kg B da-1 with 531.35 kg da-1 and 0.45 kg B da-1 with 527.43 kg da-1. When the grain yield values in terms of cultivar x B dose interaction were examined, the highest grain yield in Golia cultivar was 550.43 kg da-1 at 0.15 kg B da-1 dose, while the lowest value was determined in control application with 454.43 kg da. In Pehlivan cultivar. The highest and lowest values were obtained from 578.43 kg da-1 at 0.3 kg B da-1 and 512.26 kg da-1 at 0.15 kg B da-1 dose, respectively.

Antimikrobiyal malzemelerin en önemli kullanım amacı; insan bünyesinde bulaşıcı hastalıklara, zehirlenmelere sebep olabilen, bakteri, mantar ve virüsün yayılmasını ve çoğalmasını enfeksiyonların yayılımını önleyen sağlıklı ve temiz yüzeylerin sağlanmasıdır. Bu çalışmada, saf poliamid 6 (PA6) malzemeye %0,3 ve %0,1 oranlarında gümüşün yanında %5, 10, 15 oranlarında boraks katılarak ve ayrıca %5, 10, 15, 20 oranlarında sadece boraks ilave edilerek ekstrüzyon uygulamasıyla antimikrobiyal kompozit malzeme üretimi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu malzemelerin yoğunluk, çekme mukavemeti, kopma uzaması, elastisite modülü, çentikli darbe dayanımı, kristalleşme yüzdesi, kristalleşme ve erime entalpileri, bozunma sıcaklıkları, artık kütle gibi özellikleri deneysel olarak ölçülmüştür. Numunelerin antimikrobiyal aktivitelerinin belirlenmesi ISO 22196 metoduna göre yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda PA6 malzemeye artan oranlarda eklenen boraks ve gümüşün eklenen miktarla orantılı olarak artan antimikrobiyal etki sağladığı belirlenmiştir. Boraksın tek başına eklenmesiyle de antimikrobiyal özellikleri geliştirdiği görülmüştür. Katkı ilavesiyle kompozit malzemenin yoğunluğunun arttığı, mukavemet ve çekme modülünün azaldığı belirlenmiştir. Eklenen katkı oranıyla malzemenin ısısal özelliklerinden DSC ile belirlenen kristalleşme yüzdesinin ve TGA ile ölçülen artık kütle miktarının arttığı saptanmıştır., The most important purpose of use of antimicrobial coatings; is to provide germ-free, healthy and clean surfaces that can cause infectious diseases and poisoning within the human body, and prevent the spread and reproduction of bacteria, fungi and viruses. In this study, antimicrobial composite has been produced by extrusion application by adding 0.3% and 0.1% silver to pure Polyamide 6 (PA6) material, as well as 5, 10, 15% borax and also 5, 10, 15, 20% borax containing composite material was produced. Properties of these materials such as density, tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus of elasticity, notched impact strength, percentage of crystallization, crystallization and melting enthalpies, decomposition temperatures, residual mass were experimentally measured. The antimicrobial activities of the samples were determined according to the ISO 22196 method. As a result of the study, it was determined that borax and silver added to PA6 material at increasing rates provided an antimicrobial effect that increased proportionally with the amount added. Addition of borax alone has also been shown to improve antimicrobial properties. It was determined that the density of the composite material increased with the addition of additives, and the strength and tensile modulus decreased. It was determined that the percentage of crystallization determined by DSC from the thermal properties of the material and the amount of residual mass measured by TGA increased with the added additive ratio.

Latar Belakang: Keamanan pangan adalah kondisi dan upaya yang diperlukan untuk mencegah pangan dari kemungkinan cemaran yang dapat mengganggu, merugikan dan membahayakan kesehatan manusia sehingga makanan aman untuk dikonsumsi. Pengolahan suatu makanan tidak terlepas dari adanya bahan tambahan pangan yang merupakan bahan yang ditambahkan ke dalam pangan. Salah satu bahan tambahan pangan yang dilarang penggunaanya adalah boraks karena sangat berbahaya jika dikonsumsi dalam tubuh manusia.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara kualitatif kandungan boraks pada makanan yang dijual oleh pedagang yang ada di wilayah Kota Banyuwangi.Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasional dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari tahun 2020 di Laboratorium Kesehatan Lingkungan PSDKU Universitas Airlangga Surabaya. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian berjumlah 15 makanan yang terdiri dari kerupuk, pentol, bakso, tahu walik dan cimol. Sampel didapatkan dari 15 pedagang makanan yang berbeda di daerah Kota Banyuwangi diantaranya wilayah Giri, Pakis, Glagah, Tukang Kayu, Sobo dan Kepatihan. Pengujian kandungan boraks ini dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Kesehatan Lingkungan yang salah satunya peneliti sendiri dengan menggunakan Test Kit Boraks.Hasil: Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa dari 15 sampel makanan yang dijual di wilayah Kota Banyuwangi sebanyak 10 sampel (66,7%) yaitu pada 5 sampel pentol, 3 sampel bakso serta satu sampel kerupuk dan tahu walik. Sementara sisanya yaitu 5 sampel (33,3%) yang negatif boraks diantaranya satu sampel kerupuk, 3 sampel bakso dan cimol.Kesimpulan: Masyarakat harus lebih berhati-hati dalam mengonsumsi atau membeli makanan dengan memperhatikan ciri-ciri yang ada pada makanan dan sebaiknya pengawasan serta pembinaan terhadap pedagang makanan yang ada di wilayah Kota Banyuwangi lebih ditingkatkan.Kata kunci: analisis kualitatif, keamanan pangan, pedagang, boraks

Hidrojeller, ilaç salınımında, tarımsal alanda, biyomedikal alanda, gıda korumasında ve doku uygulamalarında etkin ve yaygın olarak kullanılan polimerik jellerdir. Hidrojellerin yumuşak ve esnek özellikte olması disiplinler arası yaklaşımın ilerlemesini önemli ölçüde sağlamaktadır. Fakat hidrojeller uygulanan mekanik kuvvetler altında düşük dirence sahiptir. Bu durum hidrojellerin kullanımı sırasında kırılmalara neden olmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, tekstil takviyeli hidrojel kompozitler hidrojellerin mekanik problemlerini çözmek için disiplinler arası bir yaklaşım sunmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı mekanik özellikleri iyileştirilmiş dokuma kumaş takviyeli hidrojel kompozit yapıların incelenmesidir. Bu bağlamda, hidrojel iplik formunda olan polivinil alkol (PVA), uygulanan mekanik kuvvete karşı direncini artırmak için mukavemetli pamuk, keten, yün, viskon ipliklerle güçlendirildi. Bu nedenle, kumaş takviyeli hidrojel kompozitlerin üretimi için PVA/Pamuk, PVA/Keten, PVA/Yün, PVA/Viskon karışımlı dokuma kumaşlar hazırlandı. Hibrit dokuma kumaşlar, farklı oranlarda glutaraldehit ve boraks çözeltileri ile muamele edildi. Hibrit dokuma kumaşta bulunan PVA iplikleri çapraz bağlı jel yapılara dönüşürken, pamuk, keten, yün ve viskon iplikler, takviye elemanı olarak dokuma kumaşlarda kalmıştır. İplik ve kumaşla güçlendirilmiş hidrojel kompozitlerinin karakterizasyonları Fourier-transform kızılötesi spektroskopi (FT-IR), termogravimetrik analiz (TGA), X-ışını kırınımı (XRD), taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) ile gerçekleştirildi. Hidrojel kompozitlerdeki çapraz bağlayıcı oranına ve su içeriklerine bağlı olarak numunelerin şişme dereceleri ve mekanik özellikleri incelendi. Tüm sonuçlar göz önüne alındığında, doğal lif takviyeli dokuma kumaşlar hidrojel kompozitlerin mekanik özelliklerini önemli ölçüde artırmıştır. Bu tezde sunulan yayımlanmış her makalenin bulguları, gelecekteki çalışmalar için birtakım önemli çıkarımlara sahiptir. Hydrogels are one of the most widely used polymeric gels and have been extensively used for drug delivery, agricultural and biomedical fields, food preservation, and tissue applications. Hydrophilic, soft, and flexible properties of hydrogels provide a significant opportunity to advance the understanding of interdisciplinary approach. However, hydrogels have low resistance under the applied mechanical forces. This situation results in hydrogels to break during usage. In this regard, textile reinforced hydrogel composite presents an interdisciplinary approach to solve mechanical problems of hydrogels. The aim of this thesis is to investigate development of woven fabric reinforced hydrogel composite structure with enhanced mechanical properties. In this respect, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in yarn form was reinforced with another durable cotton, flax, wool and viscose yarns to produce a hydrogel composite structure with improved resistance to the applied mechanical forces. For this purpose, PVA/Cotton (Co), PVA/Flax (F), PVA/Wool (W), PVA/Viscose (VI) blended woven fabrics were manufactured for the forming fabric reinforced hydrogel composites. The hybrid woven fabrics were treated with different concentrations of glutaraldehyde and borax solutions. PVA yarns in the hybrid woven fabric turned into crosslinked gel structures, whereas cotton, flax, wool and viscose yarns remained in the woven fabrics as a reinforcing element. The characterizations of yarn and fabric reinforced hydrogel composites have been carried out by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The swelling degree and mechanical properties of the samples were investigated with respect to the crosslinker ratio and water contents in the hydrogel composites. Considering all results, natural fiber woven fabric reinforcement significantly increased the mechanical properties of hydrogel composites. The findings of each article presented in this thesis have a number of significant implications for future researchs. Glavni cilj ovoga rada bio je ispitati istovremeno djelovanje mehaničkog miješanja i ultrazvuka na dinamiku rasta kristala boraksa. Sonokristalizacija hlađenjem izvršena je u staklenom kristalizatoru, pri čemu je volumen kapljevine iznosio 2,65 dm 3 , a brzina hlađenja 6 °C h -1 . Brzine miješanja SBT miješala odgovarale su onima potrebnima za postizanje stanja potpune suspenzije (N JS ) po Zwieteringovom kriteriju, a amplitude ultrazvučnog djelovanja (A) iznosile su redom 0, 20, 25 i 30 %. Određena je promjena koncentracije matične otopine potenciometrijski, kao i promjena apsolutne prezasićenosti pri navedenim ultrazvučnim amplitudama pri čemu dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da ultrazvuk utječe na promjenu apsolutne prezasićenosti, a samim time i na promjenu veličine kristala. Prikazana je i promjena veličine kristala s vremenom koja pokazuje prosječno sitnije kristalne produkte s povećanjem amplitude ultrazvuka. Također, određeno je i vrijeme dostizanja konačne veličine kristala te utjecaji ultrazvuka i miješanja na brzinu rasta kristala i njihovu veličinsku raspodjelu metodom laserske difrakcije gdje je uočljivo da se vrijeme potrebno za nastajanje kristala konačne veličine povećava s povećanjem amplitude ultrazvuka, ali i da se raspodjela veličina kristala sužava. Određena je i snaga potrebna za izvođenje eksperimenta. Dobivene vrijednosti ukazuju na to da je utrošak snage izražen po jediničnoj masi otopine boraksa čak do 10 puta veći kod ultrazvučnog djelovanja nego kod mehaničkog miješanja. S obzirom na rezultate eksperimenta, više amplitude ultrazvuka ne čine proces sonokristalizacije učinkovitijim te se amplituda ultrazvuka od 20% čini optimalnom zbog toga što ima najkraće vrijeme dostizanja konačne veličine kristala i energetski je manje zahtjevna od onih pri 25 i 30 %. The primary goal of this thesis was to examine the effect of simultaneous application of mechanical stirring and ultrasound irradiation on borax crystals growth rate dynamics. The cooling sonocrystallization has been conducted in a glass crystallizer with the liquid volume being 2.65 dm 3 and the cooling rate of 6 °C h -1 . Stirring speeds of the SBT stirrer matched the ones required for achieving the state of a complete suspension (N JS ) by Zwietering's criterion, while amplitudes of the ultrasound were as follows: 0, 20, 25 and 30 %.The change of the mother liquor's concentration was determined potentiometrically as well as the change of the absolute supersaturation during above-mentioned amplitudes. According to results, ultrasound irradiation affects absolute supersaturation as well as the change of crystal size during the process. Given the measured sizes of crystals, change in crystal size over time was shown and it is noticeable that continuous sonocrystallization yields averagely smaller crystals. Also, the time required for crystals to attain their final size, effects of both stirring and ultrasound irradiation on the growth rate and the crystal distribution determined by laser diffraction were presented for each amplitude. In general, the time required for attaining the crystalline product of final size extends with an increase of ultrasound amplitude. At the same time, crystal size distribution narrows. Power needed to perform the experiment was also determined. Results suggest that power consumed per unit mass of borax solution by stirring is up to 10 times lower than that of ultrasound irradiation. Considering all obtained results, it can be said that higher ultrasound amplitudes do not imply a more effective sonocrystallization process and therefore, the amplitude of 20 % seems like the optimal one with reasons being that it ensures the shortest time needed for attaining the final size of the crystal as well as not being as costly in terms of energetics as the amplitudes of 25 i 30 %.

Son yıllarda otomotiv teknolojisinin gelişmesiyle birlikte, fren balatası için alternatif kompozisyon arayışı da artmıştır. Kompozisyonunda birçok tozu barındıran fren balatalarının, performansının yanında, alternatif tozlardan üretilmesi de beklenmektedir. Alternatif tozlarda, çevre dostu olması ve maliyetinin düşük olması istenen en önemli faktörlerdendir. Bu çalışmada, ülkemizde yüksek rezerve sahip boraks ve wollastonite kullanılmıştır. Alternatif tozlarla üretilen fren balatası numunelerinin su ve yağ emme davranışları test edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar referans olarak kullanılan ticari fren balataları ile kıyaslanmıştır. Suda bekletilen numunelerin sertlik değerleri, yağda bekletilen numunelere göre daha fazla düşmüştür. Katkı maddesi olarak wollastonite kullanılan numunelerde daha az sertlik değişimi gözlenmiştir. Boraks katkılı fren balatalarının yoğunluk değerleri referans fren balatasına daha yakın değerlerdedir. Wollastonite katkılı fren balatalarında gözlemlenen ağırlık değişimi ise ticari fren balatası numunesine yakın değerlerde elde edilmiştir.

According to regulation of Health Minister No.033 th 2012 about food additives, borax is a hazardous and toxic material banned as a food aditive. If borax used in a long time can caused many disease, especially cancer and dead. Lack of public knowledge about borax make they dont have preventif action to choose foods. Therefore, we interested to provide counseling with lecture and discussion method and then workshop which is participant come forward doing identification borax looking for shape, color, and smell and identification directly on food containing borax. The result of this service activity is understanding the society of Tebing Tinggi Okura about dangerous of borax in health increase and they know the characteristic of food containing borax. So, public more carefuly choosing the healthy food

U ovom radu izvršena je usporedba koncentracija boraksa izmjerenih potenciometrijskom i refraktometrijskom metodom tijekom provedbe šaržne kristalizacije ove soli postupkom hlaĊenja. Potenciometrijska i refraktometrijska metoda ne prikazuju izravno koncentraciju otopine nego je za njihovu upotrebu potrebno prethodno izraditi baždarne krivulje. Kod potenciometrijskog mjerenja baždarna krivulja predstavlja odnos potencijala ion-selektivne elektrode i logaritma koncentracije analizirane tvari, dok kod refraktomerijskog mjerenja ona predstavlja odnos refraktivnog indeksa i koncentracije tvari. U oba sluĉaja baždarne krivulje se konstruiraju pri konstantnoj temperaturi. S obzirom da će se obje metode primjenjivati tijekom kristalizacije uz kontrolirano hlaĊenje tako se i baždarenje prilagodilo uvjetima provedbe kristalizacijskog procesa. U šest otopina boraksa poznatih koncentracija (c= 0,05-0,187 mol dm -3 ) istodobno se provodilo mjerenje potencijala i refraktivnog indeksa pri brzini hlaĊenja otopine od 6 °C h -1 . Da bi se osigurala ujednaĉena brzina prijenosa topline u ispitivanom sustavu, prilikom baždarenja, brzina vrtnje miješala (N = 300 o. min -1 ) kao i volumen matiĉne otopine (V = 2,66 dm 3 ) održavani su konstantnim. Iz izmjerenog potencijala natrijeve ion-selektivne elektrode te refraktivnog indeksa izraĊene su baždarne krivulje i to za svaku cjelobrojnu vrijednost temperature u ispitivanom temperaturnom podruĉju od 30 do 10°C. Potom je izvršena šaržna kristalizacija boraksa tjedan dana i ĉetiri tjedana nakon baždarenja, odreĊene su koncentracije otopine objema metodama i usporeĊene s rezultatima volumetrijske metode. In this work, a comparison of borax concentrations measured by potentiometric and refractometric methods during the batch cooling crystallization of this salt was made. The potentiometric and refractometric methods do not directly show the concentration of the solution, but the calibration curves need to be constructed for their use. In potentiometric measurements, the calibration curve represents the relationship between ion-selective electrode potential and the logarithm of the concentration of the analyte, while in the refractomeric measurement it represents the relationship of the refractive index and the concentration of the substance. In both cases the calibration curves need to be constructed at a constant temperature. Since both methods will be applied during batch cooling crystallization, calibration has also been performed under the conditions of the crystallization. In six borax solutions of known concentrations (c = 0.05-0.187 mol dm -3 ), cooled by rate of 6 °C h -1 , the potential and the refractive index were simultaneously measured. In order to ensure a uniform heat transfer rate in the system, during calibration, the impeller speed (N = 300 rpm) as the volume of the solutions (V = 2.66 dm 3 ) were kept constant. From the measured potential of the sodium ion-selective electrode and the refractive index, calibration curves were constructed for each integer value of the temperature in the tested temperature range from 30 to 10 ° C. Batch crystallization of borax was then carried out one week and four weeks after calibration, the mother liquor concentrations were determined by both methods and compared with the results of the volumetric method. It was found that the refractometric method, immediately after calibration, shows a much larger deviation of the results than the potentiometric method compared to the volumetric one. However, within a few weeks after calibration, the deviations of the results obtained by refractometry remained unchanged, whereas due to the large deviation of results, the sodium ion-selective electrode had to be calibrated again.

U ovom radu je sagledan utjecaj promjera aksijalnog PBT miješala (engl. Pitched blade turbine) te amplitude ultrazvuka, A, na kritiĉnu brzinu vrtnje miješala, N JS, pri suspendiranju kristala natrijevog tetraborat dekahidrata (boraksa) u šaržnom kristalizatoru standardnih dimenzija koji je sadržavao razbijala virova. Ova ispitivanja provedena su u svrhu utvrĊivanja brzine vrtnje korištenih miješala za naknadnu provedbu sonokristalizacije boraksa u miješajućem šaržnom kristalizatoru s hlaĊenjem. U prvom dijelu rada izvršena je šaržna kristalizacija boraksa iz otopine zasićene pri temperaturi od 30 °C, te su odreĊene granulometrijske karakteristike kristala. Potom je izvršeno suspendiranje kristala u zasićenoj matiĉnoj otopini s tri promjera PBT miješala (d m /T = 0,43, 0,53 i 0,63). Pri svakom promjeru je prvo odreĊena minimalna brzina vrtnje miješala potrebna za postizanje stanja potpune suspenzije kristala, N JS , primjenom Zwietringova kriterija 1s. Potom je pri djelovanju ĉetiriju razliĉitih amplituda ultrazvuka takoĊer za svaki promjer miješala odreĊena kritiĉna brzina vrtnje miješala spomenutim kriterijem. Kako bi se sagledali energetski zahtjevi sustava izmjeren je zakretni moment pri provedbi miješanja kao i koliĉina osjetne topline koja se tijekom sonofikacije u sustavu povećavala. Iz ovih veliĉina konaĉno je izraĉunat ukupan utrošak snage privedene sustavu. Rezultati su ukazali da se kritiĉna brzina vrtnje miješala za postizanje stanje potpune suspenzije kristala mijenja s promjenom promjera miješala. Ova pojava posljedica je promjene strukture toka kapljevine koja prati promjenu veliĉine miješala. UtvrĊeno je takoĊer da se pri ultrazvuĉnom djelovanju stanje potpune suspenzije kristala postiže pri manjoj vrijednosti N JS , meĊutim utjecaj ultrazvuka ovdje je znaĉajno manje izražen od utjecaja promjera miješala. U radu je takoĊer utvrĊeno koji od ispitivanih uvjeta istodobnog djelovanja miješanja i ultrazvuka zahtijevanju najniži utrošak snage pri suspendiranju korištenih kristala. In this work the influence of pitched blade turbine (abbrev. PBT) diameter and ultrasonic amplitude, A, on just suspended impeller speed, N JS , of sodium tetraborate decahydrate (borax) crystals in a batch baffled crystallizer was investigated. These tests were carried out in order to determine the PBT impeller speed for the subsequent sonocrystallization of borax in an agitated batch cooling crystallizer. In the first part of the work, crystallization of borax from a solution saturated at 30 ° C was performed, and the properties of the product obtained were determined. Then, the crystals were suspended in saturated mother liquor at three diameters of PBT impeller (d m /T = 0,43, 0,53 i 0,63). At each of the impeller diameter, the minimum impeller speed required to achieve the state of complete crystal suspension, N JS , was determined applying Zwietring's criterion 1s. Then at four different amplitudes of ultrasound, just suspended impeller speed at each of PBT impeller used were determined by the same criterion. In order to estimate the energy requirements of the systems, during the mixing the torque was measured, as well as the amount of sensitive heat that increased during sonication of the system. From these quantities, the power consumption brought to the system was finally calculated. The results indicated that the critical impeller speed to achieve the state of complete suspension of the crystal changes with the change of PBT impeller diameter. This phenomenon is a consequence of the changes in fluid flow pattern caused by the size of impeller. It has also been found that under ultrasonic action, the state of complete suspension of crystals is achieved at a lower N JS value, however, the influence of ultrasound here is significantly less pronounced than this of impeller diameter. In this work is also determined which of the tested conditions of simultaneous mixing and ultrasonic actions required the lowest power consumption when suspending the crystals used.

Bu araştırmada dünyadaki rezervlerin yaklaşık %63’ünün Türkiye’de bulunduğu tespit edilen bor madeni ile yapılan doğal boyamanın, ipek liflerinin boyanmasında kullanılabilirliği ve elde edilen haslıklar araştırılmıştır. %100 ipekli malzeme farklı oranlarda boraks ile mordanlandıktan sonra bitkiden ekstrakte edilmiş boya ile klasik yönteme göre boyanmıştır. Boyamaya olan etkisini görebilmek için materyal ağırlığına göre 7 farklı oranda boraks kullanılmış, bitki, ekstrakt miktarı, banyo oranı, süre ve sıcaklık sabit tutulmuştur. Elde edilen boyamaların yıkama ile yaş ve kuru sürtme haslık özellikleri incelenmiştir. Karşılaştırmalar mordansız boyamaya göre yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; elde edilen yıkama ve sürtme haslık değerlerinin kullanılan mordan miktarına göre farklılıklar gösterdiği, materyal ağırlığına göre %5 boraks kullanımının fazlasının haslık değerlerini değiştirmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. The availability and fastness of natural dyeing in the dyeing of silk fibers have been investigated. 100% silk material was mordant with different proportions of borax and then extracted from the plant and painted according to the classical method. 7 different ratios of borax were used according to material weight in order to see the effect of painting, plant, extract amount, bath rate, duration and temperature were kept constant. Wet and dry friction fastness properties of the resulting paints were examined with washing. Comparisons have been made with respect to mordant-free painting. According to the results of the research, washing and rubbing fastness values obtained differed according to the amount of mordant used. Borcevherleri çeşitli bor bileşiklerinin üretiminde kullanılır. Tinkalden eldeedilen boraks onların en önemlilerinden biridir. Rafine boraks üretiminin enönemli sorunlarından biri sulu çözeltide kolloidal olan ve süzülmeyen killiminerallerin tinkalden ayrılmasıdır. Bu amaçla çeşitli çöktürücü maddelerkullanılır ve bu da maliyeti artırır. Diğer taraftan bu işlem sırasında önemlimiktarda boraks kaybı olur. Bunun için, daha önceki çalışmalarda CO2 gazıkullanılmış, yeterli kuagülasyon sağlanamamıştır. Filtration zamanı uzunsürmüştür. Bu çalışmada kolloidal halin bozulması için SO2 gazıkullanılmıştır. Çalışmalarda sıcaklık ve karıştırma süresi parametre olarakseçilmiştir. Örnek çok küçük parçalara ayrıldığı için partikül boyutu parametreolarak seçilmemiştir. Böylece kolloidal halin kaybolabileceği, çeşitli borminerallerinin çözülebileceği ve sıvı ortamda bor kayıplarının minimumolabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu metot kullanılarak herhangi bir çökeltmeyihızlandırıcı madde kullanmadan minimum bor kaybıyla daha hızlı filtrasyon eldeedilebileceği gözlendi. One of the mostimportant of them is borax obtained from tincal. One of the most importantproblems in refined borax production is to separate tincal from the clayminerals which is in colloidal state in aqueous solution and cannot befiltered. For this reason, a lot of coagulants are used and this causes someincrease in the cost. On the other hand, there is considerably losing of boraxduring these processes. For this purpose, CO2 has been used inprevious studies, But sufficiently coagulation has not been provided.Filtration time has been for a long time. In this study, in order to disappearthe colloidal state, SO2 has been used instead of a coagulant. Thetemperature and stirring time have been chosen as parameters in this work.Since the sample was having to broken into small pieces structure, particlesize was not investigated as a parameter. Thus, it has been resulted that thecolloidal state may disappear and various boron minerals may be dissolved, andin water aqueous media boron loses become minimum. Also, by using this method,it has been examined that without becoming necessary to use a coagulant it canbe obtained a more rapid filtration with minimum boron lose. As a result,in a 60-min experiment at 50 ºC, 99. 5% of B2O3 contentswaste was recovered. In addition, about 84% CaO in the waste was dissolved inthe leaching solution.

Teknolojinin gelişmesiyle birlikte kompozit malzeme üretimine olan ilgi de artmıştır. Bu durum aynı zamanda doğal lif destekli kompozit malzemelere olan ilgiyi artırmaktadır. Üretilen kompozit malzemelerin daha ekonomik olması için bu tür malzemelerin fiziksel ve mekanik özelliklerin geliştirilmesi ve maliyetin düşürülmesi için çok sayıda araştırma yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada atık olarak görülen ve yakılarak bertaraf edilen mobilya üretim atığı çam talaşları ile geri dönüştürülmüş polietilenin bağlayıcı olarak kullanıldığı kompozit malzeme üretilmiş ve bu kompozite boraksın etkileri incelenmiştir. Dolgu maddesi oranı, uyumlaştırıcı ve boraksın parameter olarak incelendiği çalışmada üretilen kompozitler üzerinde mekanik analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kullanılan malzemeler FTIR ve DSC ile karakterize edilmiştir. Elde edilen kompozitlerde ayrıca morfolojik yapı ve LOI indeksleri ölçülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlarda atıklardan üretilen kompozit malzemelerin göstermiş olduğu mekanik ve ısıl davranışların birçok uygulama alanı olabileceği tespit edilmiştir. Daha detaylı ve sayısal modellemelerle, istenilen ürün çeşitine ve kullanım amacına göre çalışmada gerçekleştirilen biotabanlı kompozitlerin kullanılabileceği belirlenmiştir. MagPE oranı arttıkça dayanımın arttığı söylenebilir. Dolgu (talaş) oranın artmasıyla % uzamanın azaldığı beklenen bir sonuçtur ve öyle de çıkmıştır. Boraks katkısının ve uyumlaştırıcının (MagPE) % uzamaya fazla bir etkisi olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Şişme testlerinde boraks miktarındaki artışın hacim ve kütledeki davranışı etkilemediği kaydedilmiştir. Dolgu (talaş) oranı yüksek olan numunelerde ise boraks miktarının uzamaya belirgin bir etkisi olmadığı gözlenmiştir. %30 ve %50 dolgu oranına sahip numunelerde dayanım kuvvetinin daha yüksek olduğu ve boraks oranının değişmesiyle çok da etkilenmediği gözlemlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Bio tabanlı kompozit, Boraks, Kompozit malzeme With the development of technology, interest in composite material production has increased. Numerous researches have been made to improve the physical and mechanical properties of such materials and to reduce costs in order to make the composite materials more economical. In this study, composite material is produced using pine sawdust which is seen as waste and disposed of by incineration and recycled polyethylene as binder and the effects of borax to this composite were investigated. In this study, filler ratio, compatibilizer and borax were analysed as parameters and mechanical analyses were performed on the produced composites. The materials used were characterised by FTIR and DSC. Morphological structure and LOI indexes were also measured in the obtained composites.In the results obtained, it was determined that the mechanical and thermal behaviours of composite materials produced from wastes can be used in many applications. With more detailed and numerical modelling, it was determined that biobased composites performed in the study could be used according to the desired product type and intended use.It can be said that the strength increases as the MagPE ratio increases. With increasing filling (sawdust) rate; it is an expected result that the % elongation decreases, and so is the result. It was determined that the borax additive and the MagPE had no effect on % elongation. It was noted that the increase in the amount of borax in swelling tests did not affect the behavior in volume and mass. It was observed that borax amount did not have a significant effect on elongation in samples with high sawdust rate. It was observed that the strength was higher in the samples with 30% and 50% sawdust rate and was not affected much by the change of borax ratio.Keywords: Bio based composites, Borax, Composite material. 95

Bu çalışmada 3 boyutlu tarayıcı yardımıyla görüntüleri elde edilmiş olan kulak burun ve parmak görüntüleri, 3 boyutlu yazıcı ile bastırılmıştır. Elde edilen sert yapıdaki numunelerin, aljinat yardımıyla kalıpları çıkartılarak RTV-830 kodlu PDMS kiti ile hazırlanan %10 boraks pentahidrat içeren ve boraks pentahidrat içermeyen iki adet yumuşak doku numunesi hazırlanmış ve aljinat kalıplara dökülmüştür. Daha sonra morfolojik ve fiziksel yapısı incelenen yumuşak doku numunesinin kalıp içerisinde yeterli seviyede akışmadığı ve süngerimsi bir yapı oluşturduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Daha sonra shore 10 sertlik yapısında, akışkanlığı daha yüksek RTV-2 kodlu PDMS kiti kullanılarak aynı aşamalar tekrarlanmıştır. %10 boraks pentahidrat içeren ve boraks pentahidrat içermeyen olmak üzere iki numune hazırlanmıştır. Morfolojik ve fiziksel olarak uygun sertliğe ulaşılmıştır. Ardından hazırlanmış olan numunelerde çekme ve sertlik deneyi, antibakteriyel test, SEM ve SEM EDX analizleri yapılmıştır. Boraks katkılı silikon polimerin çekme mukavemeti katkısız polimere göre artarken, uzama miktarı azalmıştır. Boraks pentahidrat katkısı sertliği arttırmış, aynı zamanda antibakteriyel özellik ve hidrofilik özellik katmıştır. In this study, ear nose and finger images obtained with the help of a 3D scanner were printed with a 3D printer. The molds of the samples were taken with the help of alginate.Two different RTV-830 coded PDMS kits were prepared. the first sample contains 10% borax pentahydrate while the second sample does not contain borax pentahydrate.These samples and alginate were poured into the molds. Afterwards, the morphological and physical structure of the soft tissue specimen was found to be insufficient in the mold and a spongy structure was observed. Then, the same stages were repeated by using the RTV-2 coded PDMS kit with a higher fluidity in the shore 10 hardness structure. Two samples were prepared, containing 10% borax pentahydrate and without borax pentahydrate. Morphologically and physically appropriate hardness was reached. Then, tensile and hardness test, antibacterial test, SEM and SEM EDX analyzes were performed on the prepared samples. While the tensile strength of the borax doped silicone polymer increased. Compared to the undoped polymer, the amount of elongation decreased. The addition of borax pentahydrate increased hardness, but also added antibacterial and hydrophilic properties.

Osnovni zadatak ovog rada bio je ispitati te usporediti utjecaj miješanja i ultrazvučnog djelovanja na kinetiku nukleacije boraksa u šaržnom kristalizatoru s hlađenjem. U kristalizatoru s miješanjem ispitivanja su se provodila pri trima različitim brzinama vrtnje miješala, dok se ispitivanje utjecaja ultrazvuka na kinetiku nukleacije izvršilo pri trima različitim amplitudama ultrazvuka. Eksperimenti su se provodili u kristalizatoru laboratorijskog mjerila, volumena 2,14 dm 3 , u kojem se matična otopina hladila linearnom brzinom od 6 °C h -1 . U prvom dijelu rada, za primijenjene brzine vrtnje miješala (N =100 -350 o. min -1 ) te amplitude ultrazvuka (A = 20 - 40 %), vizualno je određivana širina metastabilnih zona matičnih otopina zasićenih u temperaturnom području od 20 do 35 °C. Na temelju rezultata o širinama metastabilnih zona pri ispitivanim procesnim uvjetima, primjenom Mersmannovog nukleacijskog kriterija određen je dominantni nukleacijski mehanizam, a potom su izračunate i uspoređene brzine nukleacije. Na temelju vrijednosti brzina nukleacije pretpostavljene su karakteristike konačnog produkta kristalizacije s obzirom na veličinu kristala. Odstupanja od predviđenih pretpostavki prisutna su u onim sustavima u kojima nije bilo postignuto stanje potpune suspenzije. S obzirom da niti u jednom sustavu s ultrazvučni djelovanjem nije postignuto ovo stanje, preporuča se kristalizaciju boraksa uz ultrazvučno djelovanje provoditi u kombinaciji s mehaničkim miješanjem. The basic assignment of this study was to investigate and compare the effect of mechanical mixing and ultrasonic irradiation on kinetics of borax nucleation in the batch cooling crystallizer. In the crystallizer with mechanical mixing, the experiments were performed at three different rotational speeds, while the experiments with ultrasound irradiation were performed at three different ultrasound amplitudes. The experiments were carried out in a laboratory scale crystallizer, with a volume of 2.14 dm 3 , in which the mother liquor was cooled down by linear cooling of 6 °C h -1 . In the first part of the work, for the applied impeller rotational speeds (N = 100 - 350 rpm) and ultrasound amplitudes (A = 20 – 40 %), the metastable zones widths of the mother liquors saturated in the temperature range of 20 to 35 ° C were determined. Based on the results of metastable zones widths at the examined process conditions, using the Mersmann's nucleation criterion the dominant nucleation mechanism was determined and the values of nucleation rates were calculated. Also, the values of power consumption per unit mass of suspension saturated at 30 °C, at examined conditions were determined and compared. On the basis of values of nucleation rates, the characteristics of the final crystallization products were assumed regarding crystals size. Deviations from the predicted assumptions are present in those systems where the state of complete suspension has not been achieved. Since that this is the case inside the all of the systems with ultrasound irradiation, it is suggested to conduct crystallization of borax at applied mixing conditions but also to examine the nucleation kinetics of borax in the systems in which mixing and ultrasound are combined.

Cilj ovoga rada je bio ispitati utjecaja miješanja i ultrazvuka u šaržnom kristalizatoru s hlađenjem na kinetiku rasta kristala dinatrijevog tetraborat dekahidrata (boraks). Proces kristalizacije izvodio se u kristalizatoru laboratorijskog mijerila u kojem je volumen matične otopine boraksa iznosio 2,14 dm 3 . Detaljno je analiziran utjecaj brzine vrtnje miješala (100, 200, 300 i 350 o. min -1 ) te amplitude ultrazvuka (20, 30, 40 i 50 %), na promjenu koncentracije odnosno prezasićenosti matične otopine, promjenu linearne dužine kristala tijekom procesa, raspodjelu veličina kristala te privedenu snagu po jediničnoj masi otopine. Pri svim ispitivanjima korištena je otopina zasićena pri temperaturi od 30 °C hlađena je linearnom brzinom od 6°C h -1 . Eksperimentalni rezultati ukazali su da brzina vrtnje miješala kao i amplituda ultrazvuka utječu na kinetiku rasta kristala boraksa. U sustavima s miješanjem red rasta kristala iznosi oko 1,3 dok je u sustavima s ultrazvukom njegova vrijednost oko 2,0. U sustavu s miješanjem konstanta brzine rasta kristala raste s porastom brzine vrtnje miješala dok se u sustavu s amplitudom ultrazvuka nije uočen pravilan trend promjene ove veličine s amplitudom. Djelovanje ultrazvuka uzrokuje dobivanje produkta malog masenog promjera čija se veličina značajnije ne mijenja s promjenom amplitude, dok je u sustavu s miješanjem srednji maseni promjer kristalnog produkta raste s porastom brzine vrtnje. Privedena snaga po masi otpine je značajno veća u sustavu s miješanjem, ali u ovom slučaju je postignuto i stanje potpune suspenzije pri brzinama vrtnje većim od 100 o. min -1 , dok je u sustavu s ultrazvučnim djelovanjem ovo stanje nije postignuto ni pri najvećoj amplitudi. Zbog toga primjena ultrazvučnog djelovanja u sustavu bez miješanja nije preporučljiva, unatoč velikoj brzini rasta kristala. The aim of this research was to investigate the effects of mechanical stirring and ultrasound irradiation on crystal growth kinetics of disodium tetraborate decahydrate (borax) during the batch crystallization by controlled cooling. The crystallization was carried out in a laboratory scale crystallizer in which volume of the mother liquor was 2,14 dm 3 . The influence of the impeller speed (100, 200, 300 and 350 rpm) and the ultrasound amplitude (20, 30, 40 and 50%), on the concentration changes of the mother liquor, the changes of linear crystal size over process time, the crystal size distribution of the product and the power consumed per unit mass of the solution was analyzed in details. Experimental results indicated that the impeller speed as well as ultrasound amplitude influence the crystal growth kinetics of borax. In the system with mechanical stirring the value of the crystal growth order is 1.3, while in the systems with ultrasound it is about 2.0. In the agitated systems, the crystal growth rate constant increases with an increase of the impeller speed while in the system with the ultrasound it is not found a regular trend of this parameter with the amplitude. The ultrasound irradiation in the crystallizer causes the production of fines which size does not change significantly with amplitude, while in the agitated crystallizer crystal size increases with increasing impeller speed. The power consumed per unit mass of solution is significantly higher in the stirred crystallizers, but in those systems the state of complete suspension was achieved at the rotation speeds higher than 100 rpm, which in the systems with ultrasound this state was not attained even at maximum amplitude. Therefore, the sonocrystalization alone, without mixing is not recommended, despite of high crystal growth rates.

Cilj ovog rada bio je sagledati princip rada ultrazvuka te ispitati utjecaj amplitude ultrazvuka na veliĉinu kristala boraksa dobivenih postupkom kontroliranog hlaĊenja u kristalizatoru s miješanjem. U prvom dijelu istraživanja provedena je šaržna kristalizacija u reaktoru s miješanjem iz otopine zasićene pri temperaturi od 30 °C i hlaĊene brzinom od 6 ° C h -1 . Pri tome je praćena promjena koncentracije otopine kako bi se utvrdio poĉetak nukleacije i promjena koncentracije uslijed rasta kristala, a po završetku procesa izvršeno je prosijavanje i granulometrijska analiza produkta. U drugom dijelu radu sagledavan je utjecaj amplitude ultrazvuka na tri izdvojene klase prethodno dobivenog produkta šaržne kristalizacije uz miješanje. Pri ovim ispitivanjima su klase kristala srednje veliĉine od 45, 170 i 375 m, ultrazvuĉno su suspendirane u otopini acetona zasićenoj i termostatiranoj pri 25 °C. Amplitude ultrazvuka iznosile su 20, 30 i 40 %. Nakon djelovanja ultrazvuka u trajanju od 10, 20 i 30 min granulometrijska svojstva kristala analizirana su metodom laserske difrakcije. Istodobno, uz mjerenje veliĉine kristala odreĊivana je elektriĉna vodljivost otopine, , kako bi se sagledale koncentracijske promjene unutar otopine. Rezultati rada ukazali su da niti jedna od izdvojenih klasa kristala nije znaĉajno promijenila svoju veliĉinu tijekom procesnog vremena pri ispitivanim amplitudama ultrazvuka. TakoĊer ni vodljivost otopine nije se promijenila, zbog ĉega se može zakljuĉiti da navedene amplitude neće uzrokovati lom niti otapanje kristala boraksa te ih se može koristiti pri ispitivanju utjecaja ultrazvuka na kinetiku kristalizacije boraksa. The purpose of this study was to observe the ultrasound working principle and to examine the influence of ultrasonic amplitude on the size of borax crystal obtained by the controlled cooling in the batch stirred crystallizer. In the first part of the study, batch crystallization was carried out in a stirred reactor from a solution saturated at 30 ° C and cooled at 6 ° C h -1 . Concentration change of the mother liquor over process time was measured in order to determine the onset of nucleation and the change in the concentration due to crystal growth. Upon the completion of the process, sieving and granulometric analysis of the product was done. In the second part of the work, the effect of ultrasound amplitude on three classes of crystals obtained in a batch stirred reactor was examined. The classes of crystals of average size 45, 170 and 375 m were ultrasonically suspended in a solution of acetone saturated and thermostated at 25 ° C. Ultrasound amplitude was 20, 30 and 40%. After 10, 20 and 30 min of ultrasonic treatment, the granulometric properties of the crystal were analysed by laser diffraction method. At the same time, with the measurement of the crystal size, the electrical conductivity of the solution, , was measured in order to monitor concentration change within the solution. The results of the study showed negligible change in size of examined crystal classes over process time at the applied ultrasound amplitudes. Also, the conductivity of the solution has not changed, which indicated that applied amplitude will not cause breakage or dissolution of the borax crystals and can be used in the further study of influence of ultrasound on the crystallization kinetics of borax.

Bu calismada uc farkli miktarda (kutlece %4, %8 ve %12) kolemanit ve boraks takviyeli fren balata numuneleri uretilmistir. Numuneler sirayla toz karistirma, on sekillendirme ve sicak presleme islemlerini kapsayan geleneksel yontemle uretilmistir. Numunelerin surtunme ve asinma karakteristikleri pin-on-disk tipi asinma test cihazi kullanilarak tespit edilmistir. Ayrica, numunelerin ozgul asinma orani, sertlik ve yogunluk degerleri belirlenmistir. Surtunme katsayisi bakimindan en iyi sonucu %4 kolemanit ve boraks takviyeli surtunme malzemesi vermistir. Uretilen balatalarin standartlara uygun oldugu ve takviye oraninin frenleme performansinda etkili oldugu sonucuna varilmistir.

AMAÇ: Günlük yaşantıda yaygın olarak kullanılan bor bileşiklerinin uzun süreli kullanımında değişik organlarda doza bağımlı toksik etki olabileceği yönünde bulgular mevcuttur. Bu amaçla çalışmamızda değişik dozlarda boraks kullanılan ratların testislerinde kan-testis bariyeri yapısında ve leydig hücre sayısında görülebilecek değişimi belirlemeyi amaçladık. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Çalışmada her grupta 6’şar erkek rat bulunan toplam 4 grup oluşturuldu. Her gruptaki ratlara boraksın farklı dozları oral yoldan uygulandı. Deney sonrası alınan sol testisler histolojik olarak takip edilerek immunohistokimyasal olarak Claudin-1, Pan Cadherin ve Calretinin ile boyandı ve ışık mikroskobu ile değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: Testis örneklerinde Cadherin ekspresyonunun artan doza bağımlı azaldığı gözlendi. Bununla birlikte Claudin 1 ekspresyonunun gruplar arasında çok değişiklik göstermediği gözlendi. Leydig hücre sayısının ise bir kez LD50x2 doz boraks uygulanan ratlarda azalma gösterdiği gözlendi. SONUÇ: Elde edilen bulgular boraks kullanımının doza bağımlı olarak testislerde kan-testis bariyeri bileşenleri üzerine zararlı etkiler oluşturabileceğini göstermektedir. Bu etkiler uzun dönemde infertilite sorunlarına neden olabilme potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu nedenle bilhassa bor bileşenleri üretim merkezleri çevresinde olmak üzere çevre kirliliği yönünden önemli korunma tedbirleri alınmasının gerekli olduğunu düşünmekteyiz. OBJECTIVE: The long-term use of boron compounds commonly used in daily life has some dose-dependent toxic effects on different organs For this purpose, in our study, we aimed to determine the change in blood-testis barrier structure and the number of leydig cells in the testis of rats in which were given borax at different doses. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In our study, 4 groups, in each have 6 male rats were made. Different doses of borax were given orally to rats in each groups. After the experiment, the left testis was excised, histologically processed and stained with Claudin-1, Pan cadherin and Calretinin immunohistochemically and evaluated under light microscopy. RESULTS: In testis slides, it was determined that Cadherin expression decreased parallel to borax doses. However, it was observed that the expression of Claudin 1 did not change much between the groups. The number of Leydig cells was observed to decrease in rats administered once with an LD50x2 dose. CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that the use of borax may be deleterious to the blood-testis barrier components in the testes. These effects have the potential to cause long term infertility problems. For this reason, we consider that it is necessary to take important preventive measures in terms of environmental pollution, especially around boron components production centers.

Bir yüzey olayı olan kristalizasyon işlemi yüzeye etki eden tüm mekanizmalarının bilinmesi ile kontrol altına alınabilir. Ülkemiz için oldukça önemli olan bor bileşikleri de kristalizasyon ile üretilmektedir. Bu üretim sırasında en önemli parametrelerden bir tanesi de partikül boyut dağılımına etki eden ve aynı zamanda kristalizatör tasarım aşamasında önem arz eden büyüme hızlarında saçılım olayıdır. Bu çalışmada önemli bir bor bileşikleri olan; cam, emaye, sodyum borhidrür vb. gibi maddelerin üretiminde de kullanılan borik asit ile boraks pentahidrat ve potasyum klorürün kristalizasyonu sırasında partikül boyut dağılımı farklı bir yaklaşımla incelenmiştir. Bu maddelerin kristalizayon prosesi ile üretimi sırasında partikül boyut dağılımına etki eden en önemli parametrelerden biri büyüme hızlarında saçılım olup, büyüme mekanizması durgun ortam tek kristal sistemi kullanılarak irdelenmiştir. İlk etapta durgun ortam tek kristal sisteminde borik asit kristallerinin büyüme hızlarındaki saçılımı incelenmiş ve kristal büyürken bütün yüzeydeki büyüme davranış mekanizmasını çıkarmak için ise kristal, 0° ile 360° arasında bir DC adım motor, image analyser sistemi ile koordineli çalıştırılarak 45°döndürülmüştür. Çözelti ortamına konularak büyütülen tek borik asit kristallerinin başlangıç ve 30. dakika sonraki eşdeğer çapları hesaplanarak, eşdeğer çaplarının dönme açısına göre değişimi ile farklı aşırı doygunluklardaki davranışı belirlenmiştir. Benzer şekilde borik asit kristallerinin lineer büyüme hızları farklı dönme açılarında hesaplanmıştır. Bu çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre borik asit kristallerinin hem yüksek (40°C) hem de düşük sıcaklıklarda (20ºC)-(30°C) yapılan deneylerde büyüme hızlarında saçılım gösterdiği görülmüştür. Bunun yanı sıra borik asit kristalleri ile boraks pentahidrat (70°C'de doygun çözelti ortamında) ve potasyum klorür (30°C'de doygun çözelti ortamında) kristalleri de durgun ortam tek kristal büyütme hücresinde büyütülerek herbir kristalin bu kez kendi içerisinde büyümesini incelemek amacıyla 10'ar derecelik açılara bölünerek büyüme hız grafikleri çizilmiştir. Böylece daha detaylı incelenen bu kristallerin büyümesi ile ilgili mekanizmanın daha ayrıntılı açıklanabilmesi için önemli bir adım atılmıştır. Daha sonra bu veriler ışığında istatiksel olarak analizler yapılarak büyüme veya çözünme hızlarının ilk alan ve konsantrasyona bağlılık dereceleri yüzdesel olarak ifade edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak bu saçılımın mekanizmasının davranışının fonksiyonel olarak temsil edebileceği ve herbir kristaldeki saçılımın başlangıçtaki kristal yapısı ile bağlantılı olduğu ve saçılımın mikro seviyede olduğu belirlenmiştir., The crystallization process, which is a surface phenomenon, can be controlled by knowing all the mechanisms affecting the surface. Boron compounds which are very important for our country are also produced by crystallization. One of the most important parameters during this production is the dispersion effect at the growth rates which affect the particle size distribution and at the same time the crystallizer is important in the design phase. Borax pentahydrate and potassium chloride are also used in the production of materials with important boron compounds such as glass, enamel, sodium borohydride. In this study, particle size distribution during the crystallization of these specimens was investigated with a different approach. One of the most important parameters affecting the particle size distribution during crystallization of these materials is dispersion at growth rates and the growth mechanism is investigated using the stationary medium single crystal system. In the first stage, the scattering of the boric acid crystals in the growth rate in a single crystal system under stationary medium was investigated. In order to remove the growth mechanism of the whole surface while the crystal grows, the crystal is rotated by 45° with a DC stepper motor between 0° and 360°, coordinated with the image analyzer system. The initial diameters of the single boric acid crystals enlarged by putting in the solution medium were calculated after the beginning and the 30th minute. The behavior of equivalent diameters with respect to the rotation angle and the behavior with different saturation were determined. Similarly, the linear growth rates of boric acid crystals were calculated at different rotation angles. According to the results obtained in this study, boric acid crystals showed scattering at growth rates in both high (40°C) and low temperature (20°C) - (30°C) experiments. In addition, boric acid crystals, borax pentahydrate (in saturated solution at 70°C), and potassium chloride (in saturated solution at 30°C) crystals were grown in a still medium single crystal growing cell. Graphs of growth velocities were drawn by dividing each crystal into 10-degree angles to examine its growth within itself. Thus, an important step was taken in order to be able to explain the mechanism of growth of these crystals in more detail. Then, statistical analysis was performed on the data of the luminescence, and the rates of growth or dissolution rates in the first field and concentration were expressed as percentages. As a result, it was shown that the behavior of this scattering mechanism can be represented as a function. It was determined that the distribution of each crystal is related to the initial crystal structure and that the distribution is also at the micro level.

Doğal bir bileşik olan bor minerali doğada borat formunda bulunmakla birlikte insanlarda ve hayvanlarda borik asit olarak metabolize edilerek vücut dokularında ve sıvılarında bulunur ve bor mineralinin mineral metabolizmasında, immün yanıtta ve endokrin sistemde önemli fonksiyonları olduğu kabul görmektedir. Bu fonksiyonların bir kısmının hücreler arası iletişimde ekstraselüler veziküller yardımı ile yayıldığı bilinmektedir. Eksozomlar çapları 50 ile 100 nm arasında değişen küçük membran vezikülleri olup çeşitli vücut sıvıları ve ekstraselüler alanlarda bulunurlar. Eksozomların kargo olarak miRNA, mRNA, çeşitli mineraller ve proteinler taşıyarak hücreler arası iletişim ile birlikte Alzheimer hastalığı gibi çeşitli nörodejeneratif hastalık patolojilerini yayabildikleri düşünülmektedir. Bu tezde bor bileşiklerinin in vitro olarak oluşturulan Aβ toksisite modelinde eksozomal ve intraselüler protein içeriğine olan etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın yapılabilmesi için Alzheimer hastalığının patofizyolojisinde önemli yere sahip olan Aβ'nın in vitro toksisite modeli kullanılmıştır. Oksidatif stres ölçümlerinde özellikle toksisite uygulamasından sonra eklenen bor bileşenlerinin stres seviyelerini normal hücre stres seviyelerine getirdiği saptanmıştır. Toplam eksozom miktarı analizlerinde ise toksisite uygulamasından sonra eklenen boraks maddesinin eksozom salınımını anlamlı derecede düşürdüğü saptanmıştır. Ayrıca bor bileşenlerinin intraselüler protein seviyelerine anlamlı derecede etki ettiği saptanmıştır. Bu tezde elde edilen sonuçların Alzheimer hastalığı ve diğer bazı nörodejeneratif hastalıklarda görülen Aβ toksisitesi gibi patofizyolojik bulguların tedavisine yönelik yeni hedef moleküllerin literatüre kazandırılmasına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir. Boron is a natural compound and found as the form of borate in nature. Also borate is metabolized as boric acid in humans and animals and exists in body tissues and fluids. Borate forms are known to have important functions in mineral metabolism, immune response and endocrine system. It is known that some of these functions spread via extracellular vesicles in intercellular communication. Exosomes are small membrane vesicles with diameters ranging from 50 to 100 nm and are found in various body fluids and extracellular spaces. Exosomes are thought to spread intercellular communication as well as various neurodegenerative disease pathologies, such as Alzheimer's disease, by carrying miRNA, mRNA, various minerals and proteins as cargo. In this thesis, the aim is to investigate the effects boron compouns on exosomal and intracellular protein content in in vitro amiloid-beta toxicity model. In oxidative stress measurements, especially boric acid added after toxicity application helps to downregulation of stress levels to normal cell stress levels. In total exosomal analysis, borax added after toxicity application significantly reduced total amount of exosomal release. It has also been determined that boron compounds have a significant effect on intracellular protein levels. It is expected this thesis to contribute to the finding of novel target molecules for Aβ toxicity in other neurodegenerative diseases such as AD. 109
