In the field of Health Sciences, one of the most important and most global consideration when retrieving information is PubMed. One interesting features of this system is to provide information of scientific journals highly regarded worldwide. To do this, they must meet requirements indexing, among others, to be validated by evaluation committees. While science biomedical traditions are rooted in the process of publication, and the core of scientific literature focuses on two or three large publishing groups, in the course of the recent years, the publication of science runs a kind of liberation from the phenomenon of Open Access. In this sense, it aims to discuss the incorporation of a PubMed F1000 to through two resources: F1000 Prime to re-evaluate the quality of items and establish a ranking as assessed by its reviewers, and F1000 Research, self-defined as a Open Access journal, providing immediate publication of review articles post publication peer. In this regard, some considerations and invite reflection points debate.

Centro Médico de Mar del Plata’s library is described and characterized as a specialized library in Health Sciences, whose vision and objectives respond to the fundamental mission of the institution to which it belongs, a nonprofit organization, serving Mar del Plata medical professional community. Main challenges to face are highlighted: update, improve and expand the vision of the professional profile, define new skills, adaptation to new working environments, new user profiles with emerging information needs, information literacy as a facilitator to bridge traditional profiles; revision of values: the professional as an integrator between the user and ICT, training and continuous updating, networking and strategic partnership in professional groups cooperating with members of diverse characteristics (special case of ICSALUD-MDP, Información Científica en Salud de la ciudad de Mar del Plata). Throughout this work core competencies of the librarian and information professional specialized in Health Sciences are presented in theory and practice, as well as activities, products and services provided by the Centro Médico de Mar del Plata’s library. Given the constant evolution of the professional profile, it is analyzed the need to develop new capabilities that allow visibility to the role of information professionals in Health Sciences as a real Community Manager working in multitasking with information and communication technologies, with special value-added web 2.0 and digital processes.

National Library of Chile is one of the first republican institutions of the country and one of the oldest national libraries in Latin America. It was founded on 19 August 1813. Throughout its 200 years, the National Library of Chile, is recognized that not only cherishes the nation's documentary heritage and ensuring a broad life cultural facilities and in the community, but also his efforts to try to go pace with the demands of today's information society and the enormous and dynamic technological world. In this context , the National Library of Chile in order to provide an efficient and effective access to their collections with international standards guideline promoters organization and management of information resources, has led to the definition of policies and procedures of the different processes that involve the management of it , demonstrating the value of print and digital collections that make up the memory of the country , as support for educational and intellectual development of current and future generations. Therefore, and in its leadership role in collaborative projects with country -level institutions , coordinating the " RDA Interest Group - Chile " , GIRCH , with the to study and implement this new standard for Description and Access Resources ( GDR ) . This line has carried out a series of initiatives aimed at internalize this standard , understanding the FRBR model , recognizing the changes it brings, assess the impact of its implementation , developing and implementing policy consensus , etc. .

Education is a right that makes the human condition, since it is constructed from the bond of belonging to society, to the word, tradition, language, ultimately to the transmission and Recreation culture, essential to human development, which, whoever does not receive or does not exercise this right loses the opportunity to belong to society and to the State to fully guarantee. The prison inmates education forms a highly complex scenario. Educational institutions operating in prisons they operate on a permanent stress field generated not only by the peculiarity of their students, but by a difficult operating context. It is an institution in another, with different rules, even opposed in some standards.

This paper develops the close relationship between Librarianship and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). HCI is a discipline that integrates elements of Social Sciences, Design and Computer Science. Its main objective is to streamline the interactions between humans and computers to reduce errors and frustrations, thus increasing satisfaction and productivity. Librarians are responsible for the information management. Since most information is processed and shared electronically, HCI becomes a critical discipline to enable that those digital processing results as efficient as possible. The technological contexts in Latin America demand librarians qualified in HCI.

The practice of evidence-based medicine becomes necessary for the health professional trying to keep up. The vast amount of information available to be selected, analyzed and synthesized to facilitate decision making based on good quality information. Systematic reviews are the type of study that performs this function, and their development must work at different stages, one of which is the search for information, work should ideally be done by a librarian with the training necessary for that process . This paper describes the methodology used by the Biomedical Library of the Catholic University of Chile to meet your institution's researchers who require support in this area.

The present work aims to bring academic proposals on Information Literacy (ALFIN) developed from the School Librarian career Documentation Department of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Mar del Plata, through the pillars of the University: Teaching, Research and Extension. This focuses on the subject from the perspectives of some of the subjects of the current curriculum, from the research project "Guidelines for the organization and functioning of the Primary Level School Libraries" GICIS Group and from its extension project "Reflections and proposals for the School Library: a meeting between university and school."

Alternatives Metric Impact Factor in Social Sciences and Humanities in Latin America: the proposed Redalyc.org

It presents an overview of the functions, objectives, service users and current Argentine Center Scientific and Technological Information (CAICYT-CONICET) approach is emphasized by the institution referred to social responsibility in organizations according to ISO 26000. Development is shown as course components Support Platform Science and Technology Communication Argentina (PACCTA). This forms a set of functional forms interoperable resources and channels applications, web services, geared to both persons: information managers, authors, publishers, documentary, as automated agents. It indicates the startup Semantic Bank for Scientific Communication as transverse component whose vocabularies are oriented to give coverage in the resource management process in general and resource description and discovery documentaries in particular. He says the proposal CAICYT formative specifically directed Information, Communication and Scientific Edition. Concludes the presentation by noting that the current line convenes CAICYT institutional collaboration to prominence and appreciation through tangibilización of resources in information and scientific publishing in Argentina .
